What's your opinion on intentionally De-Ranking for any reason?

Personally, I feel like it ruins the gameplay experience on so many levels, whether that means destroying lower ranked survivors, frustrating new killers, or carrying less skillful players in matches that should be learning experiences for them.

I'm personally hoping that with the eventual installation of dedicated servers, that harsher penalties follow.

Most people dont rerank to ruin others experiences, but so they stop facing the SAME people over and over and over again. Really this should be directed at the devs for such poor match making rather than the players

That's how high ranks work in any game. Only the very top players should be able to reach the top ranks.

Thats not how it works in DBD though, you just need to invest enough time within a single month

    They Will Not Nerf SWF.

A competent killer player can only manage a competent SWF if he plays nurse, the official tournament has shown that pretty well

Saying Hillbilly is loopable isn't a "very valid point" for the following reasons:
    (1) It's a trite statement that is literally being denied by nobody in this discussion. Killers don't forever exist in a pallet loop with a survivor, so it's important to make considerations of the ability outside of this scenario.
    (2) Pallet loops are handled by Leatherface and Hillbilly in the same way: they either wait for the survivor to drop the pallet so they can chainsaw it down, or they manage to melee the survivor. Seldom will they use their ability to down the survivor in a pallet loop unless the survivor really messes up.
Therefore if he is loopable and the ability is mostly used to just break the pallet anyway, then the impact it has for downing a survivor is less relevant under this context; i.e. you're choosing a scenario that isn't of particular interest and thus doesn't raise a valid point. The point I'm making is that ultimately Hillbilly's ability has both a vastly superior utility with what is practically the same downing ability as Leatherface, which puts Leatherface in this odd situation where he's just clearly not as strong of a pick. Therefore by making the change to Hillbilly where his ability is more situational, it not only creates more distinction for Leatherface to shine, but it removes Hillbilly's overall dominance over Leatherface's qualities.

I'm not being kind to people that say "just no", or gives a bunch of platitudes under the guise of advice; especially after the toxic cloud of users on here purposefully giving wrong and/or uncharitable interpretations of what I was saying to stroke their own weird egos.

Thats why Leatherface is known as 1 of the weakest killers on the game, they should buff the weaker killers instead of nerfing the viable one's.

Everyone knows that Leatherface is a meme, and you want to nerf Hillbilly to his lvl, so that leatherface can shine?

Get all the killers on an even playing field, then nerf survivors so the killers feel stronger by making gens take longer. It's a much simpler and elegant solution than trying to boost 12 killers just right so that they're all viable. This isn't a hard concept to grasp.

I think that its much easier to just buff those weaker killers a little bit, instead of nerfing some viable killers.

And please do not exagerate, not all 12 of those other killers need boosts.

Nurse, Hillbilly, Huntress, Hag and Spirit----All these are very viable killers.

Myers, Clown, Wraith, Legion and Trapper--------These are very average, they are not good, but they are not bad either.

Leatherface, Freddy, Doctor and Pig-----These 4 are very weak.

They only need to buff those 4 killers that are on the bottom, and maybe tweak a little those average one's.
There is NO "... than trying to boost 12 killers just right so that they're all viable.""

If you have played the game as much as you claim to, you should already know all that i posted.

Edit: Yeah my english sucks, its not my native language, so im not able to put actual insults into nice words like you do.

And im actually thinking that you might be lying about your hours on the game, and that you are just someone who is new and dont know how to play against those 2 killers you mentioned. Because a grand majority(if not all) of the people that have that amount of hours into the game like you do, they DO know that Hillbilly is not as strong as you claim it to be.

Im done with this post, i though it was someone serious, but its just some BAIT but put into nice words.

No, you can't have it both ways, you can't argue that only two of them are viable, but then backpedal going oh, but only four of them actually need boosts. The definition is capable of using successfully, so quit purposefully trying to have a capricious personal definition of viable as it means being successful, not being dominant in the killer tier list. My argument is to work on getting the killers on the same tier list, if it is true that Nurse and Billy are the only viable killers, then it means that 12 killers need to be boosted. This is just how words work.

Also, don't try to scapegoat your lack of language skills for your ######### arguments, it takes a particularly weak individual to do that. And to do that as you snidely insinuate that I'm lying because you find you can't reasonably way to argue for your points or against mine is a particularly ######### thing to do. I have all my characters at minimum prestige one along with several maxed out characters, I'm not sure what else you want as proof that I'm an experienced player. I probably know more about the basic mechanics and balance challenges than you. My goal isn't to insult you, it's to reasonably argue my points; but I'm not going to let trollish behavior like yours or others here be the things that bury otherwise reasonable suggestions.

Well what other source do you want to refer then?
When you bring up the depip squad, survivors will claim that they only versed boosted killers at rank 1 that didnt try to win.

    Exactly.
And it isn't even the speed at which you reach rank 1 (It'd actually be preferable if you'd be able to reach rank 1 fast), what we do what is to match a killer truly against a survivor and create an elo system that allows you to score more points when winning against players better than you and lose more points when losing against someone worse than you.

Than, your rank gets decided by an Elo range (Rank domain) making ranks scarce and thus only allowing a top x percentile to be Rank 1,2,3 etc.

Exactly, rank 1 should be sth special that only the best players can achieve, not sth everyone can grind to in a week or two

That argument is completely flawed since you will automatically become rank 1 by just playing the game thanks to the broken ranking system.

In that case Survivor is way too easy to pip? Fair enough then, make it harder to pip.

As Killer you actually have to tryhard to pip in Rank 1.

Which is probably why Rank 1 Survivors play like idiots and Rank 1 Killers tryhard. It's just the nature of the game that Killers have to put a lot more dedication into a match than Survivors in order to pip.

PS: You can play in a way that won't make you pip as Survivor. If you loop a Killer for the whole match without escaping, you'll never pip. If you rush gens without ever getting in a chase, you won't pip. As long as you don't escape and solely focus on a specific emblem, you can very easily avoid a pip as Survivor.

Its too easy for both sides to pip.

Can we look at this from a objective standpoint.
Cheating is when you use a non-whitelisted 3rd party program to gain an ingame advantage. This implies that several programs are ok to use, for example the built in playstation voice chat or a similar thing on steam (even though noone uses it). Also Curse is a whitelisted program.
However the usage of discord or teamspeak is THEORETICALLY bannable.

In reality you cant get banned for it since the devs have no tools to detect such software (or no intent), but that applies to MLGA too.......

Well, I just had a surprisingly discouraging match today, and it was mostly from the extraordinarily hostile attacks of two of the players after the match.

So, I'm mostly a survivor, not that great a killer, so I'm starting out here. Rank 18, not that awesome, on the PC, and rank 15 on the PS4. Anyway, I'm trying to get better with the huntress' hatchet, and I'm slowly improving; its a lot easier with mouse and keyboard than controller....

Anyway, as I said, not so terribly hot, so when the gates get powered up, if I get a survivor on the hook I tend to soft camp / patrol it. Usually the survivors will try to come in and save them rather than exit, and I use that as an opportunity to get more, along with NOED.

hasnt always worked, but sometimes it has. I figure it only makes sense: if I'm playing survivor and a killer is camping someone, I just go do other things, work on gens, open gates, whatever. Punish the killer for camping by doing other jobs.

Anyway, once or twice I've been attacked for camping, and I point out MOST of the time I patrol; go kick a gen, come back, go check another gen, come back. Sometimes I catch them rescuing the survivor, sometimes they get away.

And what, I'm supposed to just LET them save the survivor? I don't get the attitude. But I've only been attacked a few times, and mostly softly, such as "great camping dude," to which I point out I patrolled / soft camped.... unless the gates were powered up.

This time, however, three of the players came at me. One was gentle about it and said "sucked you camped my friend, but otherwise GG." The one who I originally "camped" exited. I got a second one, however, and THAT one and the fourth, a twitch streamer too, came at me with all guns blazing, calling me all kinds of vile names and constantly cussing at me, belittling me, etc.

Frankly, I was more than willing to discuss the game, but I think they were SWF, or maybe two groups of SWF; they were very often together all four of them working on a single gen, or three of them where possible, etc. I could almost never find them, because they were all in one spot where I was checking others. They denied it, but the aforementioned person above said it sucked I camped her friend, and the other two, one was talking about the twitch streamer size of followers.

And in between the base insults, there were comments of "code of honor" and such. Like, its ok they SWF, they coordinate, they even rushed to rescue a hooked person earlier and complained about my camping her too, when they rushed in to save her!

Sigh... I dont know, am I wrong? When I played solo survivor, I used to get mad for getting camped, esp face camped or tunneled, and I watch twitch streamers like hybridpanda and tydetime run off right away after hooking someone. I generally do that early game, but keep an eye out for rescue teams to head back.

So, I'm a little frustrated at having been attacked in such a vile manner, and I dont know, I suppose I'd've expected better behavior from a twitch streamer, should have known better I guess.

But I guess this is a very long winded way of asking, just when IS it appropriate to camp, and when isn't it? They seemed to act that even with the gates powered and even with them rushing in to save someone, I shouldn't have been doing that. Was I in the wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

yes join us brother, let the hate flow through you

Don't know if anyone has posted this before but here goes.
SWF Ranking is kind of messed up, I see it all the time on streams where they are playing SWF and are matched with a killer who gets destroyed because they're going against red ranks.

My Suggestion is, instead of an overall average of ranks which i think is the case now, have the group match to a killer of the highest rank in the group?
That might seem a bit harsh but to be fair, SWF are already unbalanced.
_ (Knowing where the killer is all the time, Knowing when to hide, what gens have been kicked/ are being worked on, Where the totems are if one survivor has seen, who's going to save from hooks, when to distract the killer, Where traps are placed, what pallets have been used... ect..)_

SWF matchmaking has been broken for 2 (oh wait 3 years) already. Apparently the devs dont give a damn, I dont know why.

And no, its absolutely not harsh letting a SWF verse a killer of the highest rank within the SWF. Looping enables you to 1vs1 a killer AND you also have voice comms as your backup

It isn't strictly better. It is only strictly better if everyone is using it. If there is 1 person not using it it will suck for them since they are the only ones suffering, couple it with sloppy butcher and that person will probably never recover to full health during the game.

Fact is that everyone will switch to the "strictly better" SC because you can heal yourself significantly faster. Additionally healing others is slowed down so everyone will only be healing themselves which promotes even more spreading/genrushing

After that, I would suggest to open the matchmaking gates to include said five - by - five ranking brackets, so longer queues wouldn't be a thing to worry about.

Reducing the ranks of the rank system doesnt help, the devs already tried this by effectively removing ranks 20-15 from the pool and the only thing that has causes were absurd queue times for beginners.

If you dont allow the majority of the community (rank 1 is a joke) to drop below 5, then I dont wanna be stuck on the lower ranks....... I imagine waiting times ~1 hour

But sometimes even after escaping I feel like I'm barely getting anything even thought I feel like I was all over the place, and the only time I feel like I can get a decent amount of bloodpoints is if I use "we're gonna farm forever" with no other benefit other than getting extra points. Unlike BBQ which gives you more points AND shows you survivor auras when you hook someone.

If you get tunneled or camped that's barely any points, most of the time you die with 15k points while the killer has 25k - 30k and then BBQ on top.

Can't survivors get more points for little things? Cleansing totems, self healing or healing others etc?

Killers are addon dependent, survivors not
Killers lose addons every game, survivor keep items after escaping
    Survivors can obtain items ingame

Yeah but there's addons all over the bloodweb lol that makes no sense. When I see killer mains and their load out they're always stacked and usually have every add on already.

Yes and you need to invest BP in order to get those addons, guess why killers get more BP than survivors

Decisive strike is balanced by the fact that it can only be used once per game.

Only this fact, and the fact that there is a hook per square meter in that game, makes the DS balanced. I do not understand why the main killer cries so much for this perk. And you can still put the survivor on the floor, to '' bug '' DS.

If the DS changes, I want you to nerf Noed too, removing the killer's additional speed. This is tense, you try the whole match for the final killer who did nothing in the match get extremely fast and bring down on a hit.

So noed and DS is balanced and have counter. Don't need changes. They are two perks that benefit enough killer and survivor

How do you counter DS? Just curious...... asking for a bad killer friend

there are perks that can counter it like enduring, all obsession perks, or you could just dribble

Enduring doesnt counter it, the survivors still gets a free escape and can continue to loop you. How is an obession perk (I assume killer perk?) a counter to DS?
Also dribbling just prolongs the inevitable

obsession perks are either made to tunnel your obsession or let them live, by doing this you either get DS out of the way or you ignore it until it doesn't have an effect on gameplay.

So you dont counter DS, you just accept it or ignore it. Nice
