Since the event started, I've read tons of posts about how killers are playing nicer / letting the survivors farm a bit or going a little easier on them. But besides one (1) killer who wanted to farm (which is weird enough, I remember the BBQ event for example, was full of farming rounds), I've hat zero encounters with those types... Instead, many killers I met seemed to be a lil toxic - signalizing the nonverbal "no" to let you know that you will die, nodding their head frantically, or the classic; repeadetly hitting the hooked survivor or just slugging / toying with the survivors as they please. And not one killer let me harvest some nectar in peace.
I'm not asking for easy games and I'm absolutely okay with killers wanting to play the game as intended despite the nectar, even if that means tunneling me to death. I'm just wondering why a considerable ammount of killers (way more than usual) I encounter during the event go out of their way to make the experience as unfun as possible. And also, I'm reading so many good experiences or how nice killers are being this event, but I don't get any of that love :c

I'm pretty sure it's not what's happening for everyone but for me, this event just feels so different and "colder" than the BBQ event.

I farmed almost every game as killer. Only exception would be survivors that ditn want to farm with me.

I am done now with event on both sides and wont play anymore, but IF i played killer, I would play normally because farming is really boring.

You want the killer to farm with you, but you dont want easy games? Ehm.....

    Its the event currency

  • My guess is that BHVR actually has no tools to detect who DCed, thats why they cant punish players for DCing by giving them an instant queue time punishment like its the case in any other game.

It would be kinda funny to look into their code.....

  • Another advice:
When the survivors use less than 3 offerings, then you cant max out your phials anyway.
Get the event hooks and then go afk and take the depip.

The next game you will have to get 1 or two event hooks, then go afk again and depip.

If the survivors use 3 or 4 offerings, go ahead and farm with them, easy full phial. If they dont wanna farm, you might not be able to get all event hooks, so you can use the depiping strategy again until you are at rank 15 where all survivors wanna farm

  • I am sitting on my full phials and enjoy the survivors going insane farming the killer phials now after complaining how easy it is as killer.

    It is delicious tbh

@Master That's what makes this event so great. The entitled survivor mains (not all of them, just the entitled ones) have been calling killers op for so long that once they finally are forced to play killer they trip over their false narrative. This event will have more survivors understand the killer situation and more killers understand the survivor situation, hopefully.

I am still debating whether I should play survivor and genrush a few killers or whether I should completely take a break to raise queue times.
Just a pitty that I dont have a 4 man SWF

To many scumbag douchebags DC as soon as the get found, hit, downed, whatever.
And either their SWF buddies DC along with them or they just DC because they don't want to play a game where one already DCd.
I am not even talking about people that DC during the loading screen or try to derank, which is a stupid move as survivor anyway, because deranking is beneficial to killer, but not survivor, but about people that get found first and downed first.
    Boom DC.
Solo survivor like me, that play the game as intended get the affected by this crap the most.
If a killer just leaves, ok, you wasted an offering… boohoohoo… but survivor DC and screw over the killer and all other mates in the team.

    Why shouldnt they DC?

The devs dont hand out harsh punishments for it, so who cares.

Even fogstreamers DC regularly in order to derank and those are supported by BHVR

I was letting survivors farm nectar yesterday. Instead of being appreciative, taking their vials and leave after I'd smack a few of them to make them leave the game(in some cases even carry them to the exit gate) they'd heal and tbag a few games in row. So I equipped blood warden and noed. It was fun. Then I'd get a message "why did you kill us?"

    Yeah yeah, classic

I had survivors too that nodded at me back in order to farm flowers. But when it was time to give me hooks, they looped me as usual.

Slugged everyone and let them bleed out

Maybe both sides win same amount of BP? For example, BBQ 99.9999% of the times u got 4 tokens, WGLF only got 4 token 1 time every 6 matchs.

To be fair, you should have thought about this when they explained how the event is gonna work. My immediate thought after the livestream was - derank as fast as possible

I did not watch the live stream although i probably should have. However the onus is on the devs to ensure that the event runs smoothly not the players to predict the shortcomings and then jury rig a solution. Fixing the broken lobbies should be priority number 1. They could have disabled all rank based queuing for duration of the event so that everyone was available at a moments notice to fill the lobbies.

Well its BHVR were talking about here. They have proved several times that either, they dont care, or they are too incompetent. Both is sad, but it is what it is

  • Nothing, its a joke and has even LESS meaning than rank

  • Well the game has a 1:4 population that has to play both sides now for phials.
Additionally survivors can farm phials easier and thus are done faster with the farming. Also farming phials on a survivor causes you to dernak back to 15, while as killer you are likely to pip.

I am done with both phials and take a break until this event is over. Said that the devs never think about optimal strategies when they introduce stuff like this and those optimal strategies always break the game

  • I just farmed with the survivors a bit and always blackpiped.

Sure, now most survivors are done with their phials, then camping in order to lose emblems sounds like a good idea. We can be glad that the devs thought about the problems the event causes and introduce emblem punishment with the same patch.

Right now rancor just feels like the killer gets a free kill, I think it's kinda bs that if you dont get hooked or even rouched the whole game you can be instantly killed and mori'd. I'm ok with a Dstrike counter I just think it should have a 2-3 minute timer so you atleast have some time to counter it and hide.

Nobody uses rancor because its a ######### perk.
The only time I use it is when I derank afk in order to teach the DS user a lesson for tbagging an afk killer after the gates are open

So just some background. I'm a survivor main, yes I claudette and yes I'll lick bricks to hide sometimes! HOpefully I learn and do better next time. If I got away, also good match!

Tonight I've been trying killer out and wow, I now understand what Killers mean by survivors ruin games. We're awful. I can't imagine wanting to keep playing this game as a killer. It has nothing to do with being looped or juked, I suck as a killer and expect it. What I mean is at the end in the chat, the sheer salt when someone dies or taunts, EZ you suck etc etc.

It doesn't cost that much in relation to what they make to have dedicated servers. Even Friday the 13th has them and that game is dying. It's more than just an ethical responsibility to have them. Otherwise you just end up with a toxic community that goes around ddosing each other. That's not good for the game or the reputation of the company. It's pretty bad that I can no longer play this game with my friends because someone in our group is ddosing me who I have no way of proving and he claims he's being ddosd by me and I highly suspect he will do it to some of my other friends. It's not only fair that they protect the player base, it's a necessity

Not the actual servers are expensive.
The expensive and time consuming part is adapting the gamecode to enable dedicated servers

  • @AppyB said:
By not having dedicated servers you comprimise the safety of your player base. Anyone can look up the ip addresses of the other players they're connected to in a game with relative ease and then launch a DDoS attack. I have stopped playing dead by daylight after someone in my friend circle who I've had fallouts with in the past has started ddosing me and I suspect he will also ddos others I play with and try to blame me. I ofcourse can't prove it was him but this must also be an issue many others are facing. By not having dedicated servers you put us all at risk by playing your game

    Ehm just that you know.
DDOS is actually even above "bannable" since it is actually illegal.

Maybe you wanna tell your friend....^^

How is the movement of the character an abuse to mechanics? I don't see how there is reason to that point..

Not saying 360 movement is an abuse, but here is an example for movement abuse. Remember when clown could walk at around 140% movement speed while reloading tonic bottles? It wasn't a bug, the devs just didn't calculate for it being possible,/didn't think it through.

How is the movement of the character an abuse to mechanics? I don't see how there is reason to that point..

Because the survivor moves faster than he actually should.
Also the hitbox doesnt align properly with the character model, especially huntress suffers from that when she is trying to melee throw a 360ing guy.

How is non-movement of the character an abuse btw?

I'd actually would like to see proof that the speed of a Survivor surpasses the limit of ** 100%MS** when performing a 360. (Moving your camera one way while moving your character the other in a 360 degree circle)

Could you provide proof that or are you just making that first part up?

You might be right about the hitboxes not lining up... but I mean, I found if you just swing (not lunge) you're most likely to hit them as they do align up the hitboxes at some point. if we're talking about broken hitboxes, what's with those active hitboxes aren't pallet stuns and window vaults? Off topic, but still relevant.

Huntress hitboxes are already broken, so it's irrelevant to the current data. Why hatchet a melee-ranged 360ing guy?

I mean 360 hitboxes aren't broken like The Billy's chainsaw to a Sprint Bursting Survivor yet it's being perceived that you're implying they are. Maybe explain a little for me to understand better?

Take one of those "360 tutorial" youtube videos and a video of a sprinting survivor next to each other.
Run both in slow motion and observe how the 360ing survivors moves faster on your screen than the sprinting one

    .... you're kidding right

    Nope im dead serious

"Please use your own judgement and observation to determine such" is NOT proof. What meets the eye can seem entirely different. The fact that you're dead serious makes entirely what you said unreliable.

    Discussion over from my end.

That why I said, run it in slow motion

What kind of proof do you want? Guess we will have to wait until we get a police killer with a speedometer then

It’s literally impossible. In the code it locks sprint speed to 100% unless a modifier present. (Like sprint burst). It just seems faster because being able to 360 breaks the laws of physics, so it doesn’t look normal. You’re comparing it to real life

The code has a maximum sprinting speed.

The problem however is that in DBD if you turn, you dont turn on a point, you somehow slide on a point. This is why you are actually able to cover distance doing 360s, otherwise it would be completely pointless because the killer would just see you standing at a point turning and the actual juke wouldnt be possible.

Did you do what I asked you for? Check the insane speed of a 360 in slow motion and compare it to simple runing.

You seem not to understand what you are talking about.

There is no actual speed loss. The survivor just has to run a shorter path then the killer has to because the survivor hitbox is smaller and he can get closer to the wall.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying.

Last I've heard from the devstreams, the killer and survivor have an identical collision capsule. They've said this, regardless of the numerous fat shaming spots that have shown up over time. Do I believe that the capsules are identical? Not really. But there is another suspect at play here, regardless of whether or not what the devs have claimed to be true, is true.

Colliding even slightly with the barest touch on the slimmest of objects brings the killer to a full stop. Whereas, a survivor can hug corners and walls while continuing to move at their full speed.

This forces the killer to keep a minimum distance between themselves and an object to be able to keep moving, effectively forcing the killer to take a longer path around what a survivor could take a shorter path around.

Assuming that both the survivor and killer take their shortest reliable path around a given object; the killer remaining at a fixed small minimum distance around the objects' shortest border while traversing tight sections and moving in a straight line wherever possible between open areas to the next tight corner, while the survivor does the same without having to maintain a fixed minimum distance; the distance differential between a survivor and killer around a given loop can be calculated.

Since distance is a function of speed and time, the distance differential creates a technical differential in the relative speeds of a killer and survivor, in that they cover different distances at different speeds and the increased distance to cover makes it take longer to cover, making the killer effectively gain less distance/second on a survivor around a loop in a chase, by definition being 'slower'.

So, yes, it is indeed an effective speed loss.

Since how much the killer is technically 'slower' than usual relative to the survivor would vary by position around a loop, that is why I asked for average values.

Killers and survivors most likely have an identically formed hitbox (sausages), but the size differs.

Yeah I know about that sliding thing and I dont have an answer to that.

Yes, theoretically the distance diference between survivor and killer pathing could be calculated if you consider a given loop (every loop has a different difference ofc)

    Ehm simply no^^
A train with the max speed of 300 km/h doesnt suddenly have a lowre max speed because he has to travel a larger distance, this is not how physics work bro.

I mean you can go ahead and try to caculate the actual path difference at a certain loop, but I dont see the purpose of that.

I love the concept and Design of the Trapper. However, he is far to weak compared to the other Killers and not really viable above rank 15.

Let‘s start with the obvious problems. The Trapper wastes a lot of time collecting traps, carrying them across the map and setting them. The standard capacity of 1 is a far too low. The amount of time it takes to set a trap is a joke compared to how fast they can be disarmed.

Also, once Survivors have realized that they play against the Trapper, they usually don‘t fall for the traps anymore. This may have been different a year ago, but today they just know the good spots. Also, the traps hitbox is far too small. Most of the time, i only catch one or two per game, if at all. Well, catch is an exaggeration. They get trapped but free themselves in under 5 seconds. And this is not an exaggeration. They free themselves almost instantly.

Considering how hard it is to trap a survivor in the first place, this is all I get? An almost instant escape and the survivor only gets injured? Of course only if he was healthy before. There is no consequence at all for an injured survivor to get caught.

What the Trapper needs in my opinion is a considerable buff of his base kit. Trapped survivors should not be able to free themselves. Alternatively, survivors could be put in the dying state by the trap. The traps should be harder to see, have a larger trigger radius and disarming them should take longer and be a lot harder, maybe with a hard skill check. Failing the skill check would cause the survivor the be trapped.

This may sound over the top, but I honestly believe that even all those buffs combined would not make the Trapper OP. His current state is a shame tbh.

    What do you guys think?

The trapper has the ability to scare good players during chases even if he did nothing. He's a mind game. You never know if that window or pallet or loop is safe

If you play SWF, you know and thats the problem

Not entirely true. They'd have to have seen it. I've seen Tru3 trap plenty of SWF during chases. When it's not a chase vs SWF you have a point. However in the panic of a chase if you recently put one down, they're getting trapped after that vault or in the loop.

True is a perfect example. I still remember one game where he versed a coordinated SWF and every of his traps got poped and he got kinda mad

Ofc it always depends on the SWF you verse and there are even SWF that dont communciate at all.

Btw, good survivors dont panic in a chase^^

I think Survivors forget just how easy it is for them to win, yet whine and cry when killer gets a small buff either way.

EVERYONE forgets about the solo lose rate.... solo players lose over 70% of matches at rank 1. They tie 20%. Which means they win..... 10%

Not a rank 1 sorry, but in a survivor group even with randoms. On rank 1 everyone has a major understanding on how broken survivor is. If they are playing correctly and aren’t facing a God-Tier Nurse or Billy than your numbers are quite incorrect
