The overheat mechanic is useless to prevent chainsaw camping. If you are smart you just wait for unhook animation and start your chainsaw there. Overheat is a huge nerf not requested from anyone and I don’t understand why bhwr hate so much billy maybe for sell new dlcs . I play mostly survivor but I always love the old billy . It was strong but you can counter him if you play well. The only thing that they should touch was the insta saw combo. But they destroy his entire power. The basekit billy didn’t have nothing wrong
-
i can't count the numer of games when i don't have ds and i got 2 hooks in raw only because the killer want the easy hook and choose to focus me instead of going for the unhooker. A lot of times they break the chase they currently have to other survivor only for coming back and tunnel me or the survivor that has been unhooked. So ds doesn't need to be touch, he got already his nerf.

Moris and Keys. Good lord are these the most cursed items in the game. Just one of those items alone makes one singular player a huge threat to one's game and throws balance out a tenth-story window. With people going back and forth about the balance of these two items, how about we actually think up something to put this problem to rest and move onto the next chapter of the health of DbD. Then, we'll talk about the endgame. More on that later.
Memento Moris
So, the problem with moris is that they're simply way too strong. Following the release of the game in 2016, mori kills could be triggered without hooking anybody. Soon after (insert date here), all moris were nerfed so that they required the victim to be hooked before the kill could be performed, which brought its own problems.
When up against a mori, you're afflicted with a burden in which your entire team is screwed if any of the four are hooked just once with little chance of survival if they don't recover in time. No flashlights or DS will save you; and if the Killer chooses to tunnel you, kiss your trial goodbye and get ready to wait another ten minutes queued for the next match.
The Solution
Fortunately, unlike Keys, Moris are Offerings, thus don't require much to put them in a more... somewhat balanced state. Keep in mind, the purpose of running a Mori is to give the Killer an advantage, not just for show.
Cypress Memento Moris shall remain unchanged. Their kill conditions are perfectly reasonable. Kill the last Survivor. Over and done with.
Ivory and Ebony Memento Moris will have different requirements. It's simple. After all four Survivors have been hooked at least once, then you can start killing people. Ivory is included, so you wanna work for that one kill and choose wisely so that you don't waste it. And while Ebony Moris are still powerful, there will be some counterplay to it at most.
Keys
If you want a rundown of what good Keys are, let's just say this: hold this item, and you can escape for free (unless it's a Broken Key). And you can have FOUR of these bad boys in one match! AND they can be found randomly in chests!
There are just so many frustrations for Killers up against even one Key. You can have spectacular matches, but if the gen count goes anywhere under three gens, you can be denied kills with just the press of a button. One moment you're setting a bear trap, the next the game's over with only half the credit taken. I could go on and on with examples of how busted those mechanics are, but we've got a solution to make.
The Solution
Keys will play a big role in the endgame idea I will explain after this, so remember that.
Anyway, Keys will work much differently to other items. Like moris, you should have to work for that escape in some way. So here's how it'll work:
All Keys start at 0 Charges (except Skeleton Keys). You generate charges by being altruistic. Completing altruistic actions (healing, unhooking, etc) equals +10 Charges. You lose all of your charges when you are hooked by the Killer. Dull and Skeleton Keys will only open the hatch at full charges. Opening the hatch takes 6 seconds, and the Survivor opening the hatch may be grabbed by the Killer during this action. The Survivor does not jump into the hatch automatically upon successfully opening it. The Key transforms into a depleted Broken Key upon opening the hatch. Killers closing the hatch does not start the Endgame Collapse.
Lastly, you can still use the Mind Channel with keys. Just choose whether you wanna spend your charges on that or the hatch.
Broken Key - 15 Max Charges, Does Not Open Hatch, Increases aura-reading range by 8 meters
Dull Key - 30 Max Charges, Opens Hatch at 30 Charges
Skeleton Key - 30 Max Charges, Opens Hatch at 30 Charges, Starts With 30 Charges
The Endgame
It's surprising that no one talks about the endgame that much, but everyone knows how rushed the Endgame Collapse feels. It's cool, yeah, but gameplay-wise, awkward as heck. This part of the discussion will talk about both when there's one Survivor left and when all the gens are done. We'll quickly go through the latter first.
The Dash for the Gates
I don't know about you, but I feel like Killers are way too weak during the endgame. Yes, the Survivors completed the objective. Yes, there's a timer to force them out. Even with those two, without specific perks, the Killer has almost no tools when any uninjured Survivors dash for the gates. No one is entitled to an escape just because the gens were done, so let's add a bit more twists to spice it up a bit.
- Gate progress passively degrades. No more 99-ing gates. It's a stupid mechanic. So if the switch box has been touched up to 50% and then left, after a few seconds the progress will regress until it's back down to zero again.
- If the Killer enters beyond the gates, the escape is blocked for all players. So you know how the Entity blocks the Killer from leaving the trial? Well, this effect will also keep Survivors from leaving too to force them out of that area and back into the trial. So when the Survivors hear that heartbeat, t-bagging time is over and they get to choose whether to leave or go back in.
Three Dead, One Remains: Hatch and Keys
Before we get into the important stuff, let's talk about how the hatch works. How it spawns is exactly how it was, except instead for one singular hatch, there will three spawned on the map. Here's how it works for reference (from Wiki), only exception is that the hatch does not open automatically at one Survivor:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/993/ULOCASA0K7PG.png
Now you're probably wondering, "Why on earth will there be three hatches?" Well, only ONE of those THREE hatches will lead to an escape. The other two are trapped. The Entity is waiting on the other side of these trapped hatches. Upon opening a trapped hatch, the Entity will attack the opener as well as other unfortunate Survivors within range, dealing one health state's worth of damage, closing the hatch and reshuffling the correct one, and destroying the Key used.
There's two ways to discern which one is the correct hatch. The first and easiest method is to use the Black Silk Cord add-on or Left Behind, which will not reveal the auras of the trapped hatches. The second method is to stand on top of the hatch and listen very, very closely. If you faintly hear the sound that hatch normally makes, then that's the right one. If you hear an ominous sound on the other side, turn tail and look elsewhere because that one's a trap.
Three Dead, One Remains: The Hatch Game
When the game reaches this point, it's time for a 1v1. There are two phases to this "hatch game."
Phase One: The first phase begins when the third Survivor is sacrificed and the last one remains. During this time, repairing generators is still an option if you're confident enough, but if that's not attractive enough, there's another way. The hatch doesn't open like it usually does, but it will spawn on the map in a group of three like we just talked about, all closed obviously. As the last Survivor, you must open the hatch. To do this, you must go to every unrepaired generator and pull a secret switch to open and reveal the correct hatch. The amount of switches required is equal to the amount of generators that still needs to be completed. After the switches are pulled, the correct hatch opens and you've gotta make a break for it before the Killer finds it. If you find it, you escape. If they close it, the second and last phase begins.
Phase Two: Crack those knuckles and don those running shoes when the hatch closes, because you're gonna need to hone those chasing skills in this phase. As soon as the hatch is closed, the Endgame Collapse timer begins and the auras of both the Survivor and the Killer are revealed to each other intermittently unless they're in a chase. The Exit Gates are not powered. During this time, the formula is super simple: Have one epic chase and last as long as you (the Survivor) can. Once there's only thirty seconds left on the Endgame timer, all three hatches open and can be escaped into (or closed by the Killer). It's all or nothing, so you better have remembered where they were and formulated a safe pathway there. If you don't make it, that's the end for you. Either the Killer gets you or the Entity does.
Conclusion
Well, good job, you made it. Thanks for reading and if you have any questions or found any mistakes or maybe I missed something, feel free to let me know. This is a discussion after all. Let's be as unbiased as possible, okie? ;)
See you in The Fog.
Entitled killer main, like the end game collpase isn't killer sided. really come on
-
to get a 4 escape you have to complete all generators, it's an item for solo survivor i don't see the problem 4 gen to escape 3 people 3 gen complete for 2 people. i really don't see all this strong item, a lot of time i find it before the survivor one escape opening the hatch than i close it the other two die.

A good idea: introduce addons to speed her up while crouch like the 3 addons on ghostface
-
Remove ability to get Adrenaline activated, while being on a hook and then freed. It should ONLY activate while you're injured or in dying state.
andrenaline don't need any change, it's an and game perk and it's situational, a lot of time is a waste of a perk slot and sometimes can even kill you because if you're already healed and you get adrenaline activate you have no benefit and you get the exhaustion that prevent you from using dead hard lithe ecc
-
Perk is overpowered as hell for any killer that doesn't have a chainsaw. You want more Billys? This is how you get more Billys.
Red mori still exist and you have the guts to talk come on,stop cry you have already destroyed decisive strike, i'm sick of kids. You have a lot of oneshot perks and add-ons. Stop complaing for the only one perk who is a little good on survivor side

Make MoM a riskier perk. So you have to truly earn it. Once a survivour is healed whislt carrying mettle of man there aura is revealed as normal but now that survivour is afflicted with the exposed effect.
Until a set period of time that survivour can be instadowned. If you manage to survive until the timer elapses you will lose exposed and gain mettle of man. However if you failed to not get downed then the perk will turn off.
The perk is now challenging you to prove your mettle. If you fail you lose a perk slot however if you succeed then you are afforded one extra health state that triggers regardless of whther the killer hit you with a hatchet or are instadowned.
it's already a risky perk, killer can see you around in all map, make an easy kill i fyou want to tunnel him
-
Been playing against a nurse and was last survivor.
They shoud remove the timer when killer close the hatch,it is nearly impossible to open the gates alone even against other killers. They can see the red light of progress so even if you hide and go to the other gates you don't have enough time to open the other one
-
So during the PTB when you unnecessarily butchered any momentum the pig could have at the endgame and almost the entire community practically begs you to not let the change go live...
Tell me how can a person try to do anything with the trap in the head and a short 2 minutes timer from the collapse
-
I don't feel that hook sabotaging is quite balanced.
If you have that complain run the pig perk Hangman's Trick. It's a real strong counterplay against a play style that is already dead.
-
The power revolves around the survivors not the killer anymore.
If you'd played in 2016-2017, you'd jumped off a bridge.
Anyway the game is fine now, they remove a lot of infinite and pallets. So git gud

The situations where you need the extra speed despite technically not being in a chase are more common then the situations where you need to fast vault but don't want the speed boost.
Both distractions AND urgent unhooks benefit from the haste btw.
The distraction gives you some early distance for once the Killer gets to the area. Potentially meaning you can distract him AND avoid the chase.
The urgent unhook means that extra speed can sometimes mean the difference between making it and being just a little bit too slow.
But i don't think lithe users want exahustion status except there is a chase need.

when did you ever fastvault a window when not in a chase?
also, all exhaustion perks work like this, i think that only makes sense.
distraction noise,or fast vault to do an urgent unhook before the guy goes in entity summon. Now with this rework you get exhausted for no reson. Before was better and unique,it activate only in chase

They're using two perk slots for that combo, half of their available perk slots. It doesn't even activate with every pallet stun, only after breaking at least two pallets. Once survivors know the killer is running Spirit Fury, they start dropping pallets early. If the killer is still getting stunned, the pallets aren't being dropped early enough.
Half their perk slots for something they may get to use one time in a match.
i know that, they waste 2 perk slot, but spirit fury is just alone strong enough that it don't need extra power

@White_Owl said:

Or maybe you could adapt to the situation by simply dropping the pallet a bit earlier and not stunning the killer. When playing with that combo I hate when survivors do that since I basically waste 2 perk slots.
sometimes you stun the killer even if you don't want to,because is too close to you. There is a simple way to balance this, add in the description of spirit fury: when you use this power you can't avoid the stun. Simple
That combo is a safe hit every time you broke a pallet with that combo

DEVs, you just spit in the face of solo survivors who bought your game. The game is absolutely UNPLAYABLE for those who play to escape!
I feel you bro, it's absolutely a nightmare play solo at high rank. This game lost his balance since summer 2018. They remove too much pallet too much windows. And spirit and legion breaks a lot of game meccanics. Like the vault animation of spirit, you never can understand what it's up to

The irony that killers say that looping is a unskillful thing to do, but yet they say tunnelling and camping is a strat.
Dude listen, most killers run bbq chili, and if as a killer you can't see any or only one survivor in the far and there are no gens nearby you know the survivors are up to something. So of course you'll camp.
Oh no the survivor is trying its best to not get hit and survivor (killer proceeds to keep chasing this survivor instead of breaking off to check gens and go for others) 3 gens pop on and now killer finally catches the survivor and then proceeds to camp them because of a stupid excuse of 3 gens going off when they could've avoided it by leaving that survivor.
You wanna know why? Self care. Literally breaks the game. You just hit someone, the survivor runs far away and heals and goes back to being 2 hit again. You can't win games like this unless you run something that slows down the game such as ruin or overcharge.
You know what.... I'm done.

@Egonic said: What would you prefer the survivors do instead? Let's say they follow through with your change and completely destroy the act of looping, and since pallets have to be used faster, you can now reach a state where survivors have no protection at all.
I can't draw any other conclusion than you wanting the game made easier, not more fun, not more challenging, but simply reach a state where all you do is walk after survivors that have no protection. I would definitely not want to see such changes, and I strongly believe all it would do is make the game worse for everyone who don't need instant gratification when they play poorly, which I find very backwards.
That would be quite reasonable station BUT there is one problem - nobody knows how the game would look like if loops were never there. Surely though we would see totally different habits, while right now every tweak of enough influence to change the current ones is met by big opposition from survivors side. Maybe some styles of distractions would appear, or game were slower 'cause people would be leaving the gens after some time just to be sure, 'cause Killer wasn't appearing for some time meaning he can come soon. Or who knows what else. Another thing is throwing your argumentation about gratification for low skill back at you, I know that survivors invented this phrase "looping skills" but b**ch please xD
That being said I acknowledge that options of vanishing from Killers sight are too limited which is something that should be taken into account while planning any changes.
Me personally don't care much about what this "opposition" says, I only know what I like, and how I prefer my killer and survivor gameplay, which might come as a surprise, but it does not involve M1 simulator, running around the map looking for players that should instantly die the moment I see them, nor does it involve chasing someone around pallets until I kill them.
Do you think the game will be slower because you nerf survivors ability to do anything but gens? And now instead of doing gens you want them to go sit in a bush somewhere doing absolutely nothing, because a killer might show up at some point... If that's how you wanna play, by all means, not for me!
I have no idea how "throwing something right back at me" makes the least sense. What are you throwing back at me? That someone else have said looping was skillful?
Since you are forcing me to guess what your weird comment refer to, I will make the assumption that you are under the impression that I am part of some sort of hive mind where anything anyone has ever said on this forum somehow reflects on me, well in particular survivors, which further leads me to believe that you are trying to make what I said into some sort of "survivor vs killer" thing, which is laughable.
@Egonic I don’t see your response as an “us vs. them” mentality and actually I didn’t interpret @TerminalEntropy response towards you as overly defensive or hostile either, your argument understandable protest to the OP. My issue with the game as it is now is that I believe there is supposed to be a natural progression where any Survivors starting out should be sweating, and it’s only when they level up and get a decent build going that they start having an edge to keep the Killer guessing and frustrated. I’m not saying it should be straight up impossible for them to win and get good BP using straight up tactics, but you have insufferable a-holes out there BP farming, vault/pallet/terrain looping and hitbox rushing back to back to piss the Killer off, and it means they’ve figured out the formula and won’t let anyone else have a win. To me, that screams that something is fundamentally lopsided with the game in specifically the looping area of discussion. Keep in mind, certain Killers suffer more from this problem than others since some have built in deterrents, namely Nurse, Clown, and Huntress. But lower tier Killers like Freddy will have a nightmare of a time trying to pull off a win against Survivors that have it clocked.
if someone get frustated playing killer after all this patches, i think those someone must improve their skill

I have two idea for balancing these sides of the game. Both of these look like rather easy fixes, codedly. And shouldn't need much in the way of manhours to put in.Hatch: I play some survivor. i can understand why this exists, sorta. Your three teamates end up not being reliable and you barely do 2 gens yourself so you can leave. Sure.
Except that the target isn't hard to hit, in fact in games of good survivors, 2 gens is about minimum per trial. Leaving the killer to feel like they cant double pip/ get an iridecent cause of this mechanic.
The Fix: Make the hatch not open automatically. Instead, require a key, and put a key ring in the basement. This will make keys a bit more useful in bringing for solo play, and if they don't bring a key, they have a chance to get one, if they can get past the killer. Is the survivor doing gens, or getting the keys? The killer needs to find out.
Totems: My idea for fixing totems is rather simple. They, mostly, spawn in okish spots. the big problem is that anyone can see them with any kind of line of sight, this includes through walls with holes in them that many maps have, It takes almost no time for a survivor, once they know they have a hex on them, to run through the sections of the map. Especially if they know how the map spawns.
The Fix: Make all totems dull, and require survivors to have a new perk to tell if it's a hex totem or not. Have this perk work in a semi- limited range, so they can't just run by something 15 meters away, and see the known glow of a hex totem.
Perk: Occultist You have an understanding of the occult. You can detect Hex totems in a 3/4/5 meter range.
Perks totem are intended to be as it is. They're so powerful but you have the risk to lose your perk.
