That's about the tiniest, most insignificant, most minor problem in the game ever. What was seriously wrong got fixed. We can live with a game showing a number 1 above or below our actual rank...JawsIsTheNextKiller said:I wonder if this new endgame screen will stop lying about what rank I am on? Is it really that difficult to fix that display bug that says I am one level off the level I am really on?

50% chance that it's found and cleansed in 30 seconds. On high ranks, it usually is a waste. BUT. On high ranks, games tend to be so fast paced, that winning even a mere 30 seconds is worth it. I personally have better results with low map pressure killers (Clown, Trapper) if I use Ruin. With stronger killers, like Spirit, and (I know you'll disagree, but) Freddy or Leatherface, it's not really necessary. Better use your best anti-loop build and start hooking as soon as you can. It slows down generator progress much more effectively than Ruin.
-
@BACKSTABBER yes yes yes please, more of this! Revolt against the reign of stupid!
Honestly. I LOVE when survivors piss me off on purpose. That's like, we're all more emotionally involved, making victory MUCH sweeter. And a defeat much more bitter, but that's the price of having some actual fun out of a competitive game.
Screw friendliness, screw being "fair" by some nonsense playbook made up by weaklings, screw the criticism against DS/NOED/teabagging/tunneling/camping/mori spamming/flashlights and whatever else. More passionate hatred, that's what this game needs.
As long as you have the dignity to say "gg" in the end, regardless of the results, that's the only way worth playing.
-
@ASurvkillivorer the higher ranks you're at, the more slots you have to devote to anti looping perks.Yes, if you want to down and hook enough times to pip, you have to sacrifice BBQ (which is not that useful for anything else than the grind) and, depending on your killer, Ruin. Against a group of rank 1-s you often can't even give up one target who's a great looper, because the next one may be just as skilled.
I'd suggest eating through pallets, using antiloops like Endurance, Spirit Fury and Bamboozle, and get used to the thought that even if you're doing good, two generators will probably pop by the time you first hook someone.
What I do in addition to that, is try to lead the chase to somewhere where I can have the best possible 3 gen setup later on. Not always possible, and even when you succeed at that, it may not work out, but as far as I can tell, that's your best shot.
-
Here's a fresh one:

That's from a Claudette teabagging me on top of the Hatch. Guy must have checked out my profile, and, seeing I'm from Hungary, threw some rather uncalled for, nationality based insults at me. I understand "bozgor" (used by Romanians to the Hungarian minority there, pretty much the same level as the word "#########"*) and apparently expressed his view about Transilvania rightfully belonging to Romania.
Us and Romanians... we're bitter enemies

I wonder if someone could translate the rest for me. I need to know, this person looks like a real charmer.
*Edit: the "N word"

Hey Devs, instead of buffing self care how about you fix GEN TAPPING to counter Ruin??????
This whack tactic has been used by scrubs for well over a year now and its still here!! HOW DO YOU JUSTIFY THIS?
OR HAVE YOU JUST FORGOTTEN IT EXISTS? Seriously it takes away one of the 4 PERKS a KILLER has. And the best part is that after 30 seconds the perk will be gone anyway! WHY? BC THE TOTEMS STILL SPAWN NEXT TO GENS AND EVEN RIGHT BESIDES SURVIVORS. But I´m not complaining about something that has been wrong with the game and a known issue for over a year. Please buff selfcare it really needs it. Not like everyone is using it already.Lots of Caps here

Just perfect, especially the last point.BigBlackMori said:Thanks for acknowledging that blaming your opponents and teammates won't make you better. A few things to keep in mind:
- Killers respond to their opponents' playstyle. If i see people getting unhooked the moment i walk away, i pitch a tent and patrol hard. If i see people running to the hook with BBQ or Bitter Murmur (or bbq shows me nobody) then I assume they're coming for the save and don't leave.
- Obsession. Many obsession perks mark you as a priority target; if i run Dying Light or Remember Me and you are the Obsession, you're getting tunneled, period. Dstrike is a lovely perk, but its power can come with a major downside and some Killers (Like me) make it a point to either tunnel or entirely ignore suspected DS users as the situation warrants.
- Annoyance. The more you annoy the Killer, the more they will want to kill you, sometimes even at the cost of victory. The nail that sticks out gets hammered. Do not make yourself a target. Do not spam a flashlight macro. Do not teabag. Play like you are a helpless and terrified victim up against an invincible killing machine, and remember: The Killer you pissed off this game will see you again, and he will remember what you did. By not being a jerk now, you save yourself a lot of pain later.
- Do gens. You've already been focusing on this, but it behooves you to get two gens done and then lay low; keep working on objectives, but when things go south - find the hatch.
- Sandbag. Survivors are not a team. They are four individuals with the same goal which sometimes overlaps. Treat the other survivors like tools (because they probably are) and use them until they are no longer useful, then discard them when they are of no further use to you. Surviving is winning.
I wonder if we could make this a compulsory read for new survivors? -

That's actually a very good idea. I think.
As for the complaints about "Legion not having a counter": he clearly does, like others said above. @PolarBear , you may argue that "genrushing" is not a valid term, but whatever you call it, staying separated and continuosly working on faraway generators works incredibly well against him. I'd go for that. It doesn't seem likely at all that the devs just up and get rid of T1 and T2. The grind is the most important addictive factor, and games like this require a stable and sizeable player base. The option to get at least2 perks in one Bloodweb level however would ease it up a bit. (Especially for players like me who play killer mostly, but have 5-6 favourite ones and keep switcing between them. The time and effort I put in prestiging and perking up my preferred killers is insane...)

Not going to lie sounds like nerf to perk.
Wake up in itself is not a bad perk it's situational but not bad.
It's a very useful perk for end game not only opening the exit gates but also giving information to your teammates that could possibly be in a chase as to which exit probably the best to run to as it's going to be open fast and there's someone there that could probably take a hit for them.
While the ability to see everybody's aura I can be useful. If no one is doing anything of relevance you kinda just wasted 5 Seconds of your time now have to wait 30 seconds to activate the perk again.
Though single target focused perks like bonds empathy and after care a much better job and informing you want your teammates actions and locations.
Kindred is a better job at providing group information at a time where it's more relevant to know where people are and what they doing.
Kinda don't want to be crouched for 5 seconds doing nothing only to see my teammates literally also doing nothing before my perk goes on cool down for another 30 seconds at which point I get to repeat the above process.
Wake Up is terrible because it is a last game perk and it only saves you 3 seconds at tier 3 for opening the exit gate. There is a reason nobody uses this perk. Not only is it very situational (You have to survive AND be the first at a gate to be ready to open it), the buff it gives you is very useless.
The whole point of my perk is for survivors to have a glimpse at where everyone else is - this is super useful because we can see if someone is in a chase or if someone is on the last generator. Maybe someone out there is hurt and this perk will show them where to go. You can use this perk then jump on a hex:totem to show everyone where it is if you get chased off by the killer. Bond has a limited range, Empathy only works on injured survivors, and Aftercare requires you to stay unhooked and have hooked/healed someone else. This perk just requires you to crouch for 5 seconds.
I appreciate this response but no way is this a nerf. Maybe at lower ranks like rank 15 to 20, do people use Wake Up, but if you are under rank 15 and are using Wake Up then there is no point. Wake Up might be the worst survivor perk.
I agree. Wake Up is indeed a trash perk as it is now. It would be an interesting change: aura reading is always useful, and I like the idea that it comes with a price (of 5 seconds of not doing anything).
-
Record your games. You're probably aware how much of accusations of cheating are valid: not a lot. Maybe you're that rare exception. But without footage, it's pointless.

24 games done, in 12 games the killer would hang someone and just stand there within ONE METER and camp till he was dead. Then get the next and so on.I know it is allowed but come on developers... ZERO BALANCE in this game.
The time for people to repair the generators in time (all 5) when the killer camps people is almost null. Best situation there is ONE survivor who can escape.
Either de-buff the killer big time when he camps someone so it is easier to rescue someone, or punish the ######### with zero spirit for "fair & fun gaming" by boosting the survivors.
Other then that, great game but a serious lack of content (I mean base game content, stop pushing out DLC's that should have been part of the base game) and please, for the love of god upgrade the graphics or let us use the Steam workshop to make a mod for better graphics because the graphics look like a game that was released 10 years ago.
You're wrong. Facecamping like you describe is a losing strategy. Please play more. I honestly mean no offense, it's just the opposite of my experiences (and those of many others if you look around the forums): facecamping first hook = 1 dead, 3 escaped.
Unless survivors are stupid. But stupid people deserve to die, so it's fair. -

Don't forget Nurse's, much more popular and actually much more dangerous than BBQ. BBQ is really just there for the grind. But Distortion works against Scratched Mirror/Vanity Mirror Myers too. (Has anyone tested if it works against Blood Warden's aura reading?)Btw, the real usefulness of Distortion is that it helps you to learn IF the killer uses any of the above. By the time you run out of tokens, you'll probably know which aura reading perks they use, so you have a much easier time to counter those.
@Robb_Stark , if you'd want to include Rancor, Madness, Killer Instinct, Iron Maiden, it would cause a lot of confusion. The term "aura reading perk" is quite clearly defined, whereas perks and abilities that show you location of survivors are not as uniform. I feel some of it would actually make sense, but then the devs would have to be extremely precise and list all the affected (and unaffected) killer perks, powers, addons, etc. They usually fail when it comes to accurate perk description, so I'm doubtful.
Nurse's can be easily avoided by not healing in the terror radius/ using Premonition against a stealthy Killer

Distortion, as it is now, hardly delays the effects of the Scratched Mirror/Vanity Mirror addons. Firstly, because it only has 3 tokens/each token only lasts 10 seconds and secondly,** if Myers goes for this strategy, he will surely use Whispers as well and he won't leave that area. That being said you will run out of tokens in no time.**
Other than Blood Warden it is not really useful to know what reading perks the killer is using. If he has Bitter Murmur for example, he can definitely come really close to you during those 10 seconds no matter where you run to, especially if it is a Billy or a Nurse. If the Killer is a Freddy and he uses Class Photo, again, you can't do anything about it (at least the buffed version of Distortion would delay it considerably). If the Killer is a Wraith and he uses the All-Seeing addon, again there's not much you can do as there will be times when you can't put enough distance between you and him (without getting seen directly) so as to prevent the addon from activating and the current version of Distortion is not good enough against All-Seeing.As far as the description of the perk goes, I changed it so that it says "Aura or Location" :chuffed:
Yeah I mostly agree (except who the hell uses Premonition???). As I said, my biggest problem with your proposed changes is that it would cause a lot of confusion (unless it affects ALL aura reading/location revealing effects, but then you really do run out of tokens in no time). Why? There are a great number of such effects. I'm sure I miss a few, but I try to make a list.
AURA
- BBQ
- Blood Warden
- Bitter Murmur
- Nurse's
- Scratched Mirror
- Vanity Mirror
- Dream World
- Class Photo
- Pig addon, can't remember the name
- Wraith's All Seeing addon
- trapped survivor (this is an exception: Distortion does not prevent Trapper seeing you)
- Deerstalker (I think this in an exception too, but I may be wrong)
- Object of Obsession
- Hag addon, can't remember the name
- Tattoo's Middle Finger
- Huntress addon
- Territorial Imperative
LOCATION
- Madness
- Killer Instinct
- Iron Maiden
- Rancor
And, you wanted to add other scanning perks, like Whispers. But then why not add Spies from the Shadows, Discordance, Hangman's Trick?
It would be a pretty long perk description ^^
I would go for a slightly different change though: let's have 20 tokens (or a similar number), and for every second you'd be revealed to the killer by an aura reading perk/effect, you'd lose one. Would basically have the same effect against BBQ, but it would be more reliable against Myers or Pig addons. Just an idea though, not necessarily bette than your suggestion or the current version.

My gut tells me that Distortion was created specifically to counter BBQ & Chili and Bitter Murmur. It arrived with Jeff and Legion, but it doesn't counter being detected by Legion's power. In other words, I think it's working as intended when it comes to soft countering (so few tokens) BBQ & Chili.Don't forget Nurse's, much more popular and actually much more dangerous than BBQ. BBQ is really just there for the grind. But Distortion works against Scratched Mirror/Vanity Mirror Myers too. (Has anyone tested if it works against Blood Warden's aura reading?)

90% of the time after lost games people blame each other for failure. Nothing new. It's always a delight to see how they're at each others' throats after I did a 3K or 4K.

The solution is not better totem placements, but either an option for killer to decide which totem to activate, or a rework of the totem system. Possibly making all totem look like dull totems, that would help with the "additional objective" request that's mentioned so often.

I am talking in general. Okay fine Low chance of it popping up, but this long? How many times have you seen remember me up? Agitation? Enduring? Yea the "Random" factor isn't working.
Plus, technically, Shrine of Secrets being random means a certain perk may never show up. With some research, I bet we could find half a dozen other perks that have not showed up ever, or once at the most. If you suspect the devs are not honest about it, Shrine is not really random and BHVR tries to make people buy LF for real money: yea, it's entirely possible. But since he's not expensive at all, I see no reason to sweat it. -

The slugging for the 4k though is where the game gets EXTREMELY boring. This usually results in 1 person laying on the ground for 5 min while the other person (generally urban evader lol) usually just ends up running around trying to hide.
I propose the person left on the ground after 1 or 2 min (balancing maybe needed) but the person should get the options to kill themselves. If the person is trying to pick them up then yes it gives them a chance, if not though why should they be forced to sit there and watch for 5 min while everyone runs around them.
I know killers are gonna hate this idea cause heaven forbid they don't get the 4k. I'm simply suggesting this to reduce the long boring end games that happen. I have a better idea: give the option to survivors still standing to perform a mercy kill on a downed survivor

Lol this is how to increase toxic survivors. Instead of healing you cause I'm here, I'm going to kill you...
I'm only half joking though. The potential of this game to turn survivor against survivor is strong and should be exploited to a greater degree. Imagine that: still 3 gens left, but there's only you and a downed mate. You know where the Hatch is. You know he has crawled away so killer is probably unaware of his location, and he's looking for you. You know there's no chance the two of you can ever finish gens, but in the meanwhile, if you help him up, that's what the two of you have to do. But there's this option, a shortcut... a way out. Will you take it?
I sure as hell would

It can be very frustrating for killers for sure. Play black characters with dark clothes. Want a challenge? Put those pink t-shirts on and show them pesky killers who's gangsta!

But I wish in general all addons were weaker and base killer abilities and powers were stronger.Won't happen with the developers' mindset of believing that all killers should be valid at higher ranks. They rather band-aid in power through add-ons and perks, rather than improving the killers outright.
I think you phrased it wrong: they explicitly said they DO NOT think all killers should be viable at high ranks (I think that's what you meant just not what you said).
There is a rationale behind it, and it is a business rationale. People like the illusion of success, right? For the devs, to keep as many players (customers!) as happy as possible, they have to make them feel good about themselves. If it was a completely balanced, skill based game (say, like chess), it would leave at least half of us dissatisfied and frustrated. Hence, the solution is the creation of one time use, strong addons which give players with modest abilities a fighting chance, so they can have their win at least once in a while. While I don't particularly like this concept (people should toughen up, learn to enjoy a challenge and don't let losses discourage them), the reality is that most of us emotionally need this.
By the way, the ranking system is designed the way it is with the same goal in mind: basically, you don't have to be extremely good at the game to get to rank 1. (I say this as one of these boosted rank 1-s
)Plus, also from a business perspective, the dire need for strong addons is very useful if the devs want to have a lot of regular and active players. The grind is a strong incentive. In fact, many MMOG developers know exactly that grind for BP, XP or whatever is potentially more addictive than most other game features.
So, not to say I completely approve this approach, but it's unlikely that they'll ever try to work around that. Business considerations trump most other aspects.

Maybe no blood (hey, it's supposed to be "internal bleeding" anyway), but in the meanwhile, chase does not stop the Deep Wound meter. I don't know it would work, but I agree with you @ZCerebrate , it's just a silly way of playing.
Thank you. I may have lost that somewhere in my ramblings but by no means is this something that makes Legion an overpowered killer for decisively killing everyone but the emblem system rewards this "offputting playstyle" so people will continue to do it. This could maybe be treated close to "facecamping" and shouldn't allow the killer to guarantee himself a black pip or +1 pip to rank one and 15~20k+ Bloodpoints before offerings even if 2~3 people escape
Yea I know you didn't say it makes Legion OP or anything.
I'd add this: I find this mechanic particularly annoying because otherwise I feel Legion has a lot of potential to be a unique and fun killer, nevermind how strong or weak they are, but like Freddy, their power offers a playstyle that's drastically different from most other killers. Which is a good thing. I love the variety in DBD. The silliness not so much.I'm kinda optimistic though: not always, but quite often devs have proven they can work around some problems plaguing the game. Hopefully, they'll come up with something that fixes the issue.
Until then, I'll keep using Bloodhound whenever I play Legion

I disagree about Doc too: even with best addons, he's hardly a "4K machine".
But more to the point: although I feel the Spirit is strong even without addons (I play her a lot), what you describe is one of the biggest problems with the game: almost all killers depend heavily on addons and offerings. There's a world of difference between using any killer with pink/purple addons and using the same killer with weaker or no addons. A lot of times the outcome of a match does not depend on how well either side plays as much as what kind of addons are in place. I guess we can come to terms with it and say some games are very challenging (not necessarily a bad thing) and sometimes we have an easier time. But I wish in general all addons were weaker and base killer abilities and powers were stronger.
-
@Drearystate sorry, but if being camped or tunneled is not your cup of tea, you're playing the wrong game. These are features of dbd. Losing can feel bad, I get it, but trying to control/limit killers' movement is too restrictive. I go wherever I suspect survivors go. If it happens to be a hook, then you don't get to tell me I'm not allowed to go there.

Some posts somewhere already argued that in some ways, NOED is a counter to Adrenaline. Fair point.
NOED is hardly a crutch as some players would have you believe. If anything, it's a weak perk since it's relatively easy to counter. Like basically any other perk, you should EXPECT it, and adjust your gameplay accordingly.
As far as I'm concerned, no nerf needed, especially not without Adrenaline and DS being nerfed along with it. But I'd say leave all these perks untouched. The reason many players (killer and survivor alike) consider noed a crutch is because it rewards bad play and gives a safety net that encourages players to not learn how to properly handle an entire phase of the game. I'm still not great at killer, but I feel I've grown a lot since I dropped it in favor of other perks that cover weaknesses rather than just try to eek out a desperation kill from a lost game.
It's a cheap and meaningless phrase that only seems to make sense if one doesn't actually think about it. The same thing is often said about DS. So wrong it makes me cringe. These perks do not REWARD anything. They give you options at the price of taking up a perk slot, like any other perk.
It's not a reward: if gens are done but four survivors are alive, even if you manage to down one with NOED, you're still screwed. This whole thing about "rewarding bad gameplay" is a nonsense argument.
The sole reason behind all the hate NOED gets is this: sometimes you go through a whole game successfully evading the killer, but you get unlucky and bump into him right after last gen, bang, you're down, possibly camped too. Happened to all of us. Frustrating, I know. But the frustration over it does not justify nerfing it.

I lost a game once because my cat jumped on the desk and accidently knocked down the mug and cooked my balls with my coffee, after that i was so angry i lashed out at the survivors too when i came back.Sorry.
Mine has repeatedly stepped on the sleep button while I was playing. One time, I was about to have my fourth kill in a match. Imagine my reaction ^^ After that, I just forcibly removed that key... it's pointless anyway.
The other thing she does is step on "I", which inverts y axis. This was particulary annoying back when I did not know which key does it.Cats. No matter what they do, it's impossible to be angry at them.

@CashelP14 , sometimes you die in this game. There's no shame in dying to a campy Leatherface. In fact, if you wasted enough of his time to let all the other three survivors escape, that's actually a win for you and a loss for him.
The general problem of camping is not one that needs "solving". It's part of the game, sometimes warranted, sometimes just a scummy tactic (and sometimes it's for the meme, and a funny one at that). You shouldn't try to tell another player how to play, only because you find their playstyle frustrating. Have a good laugh about it and move on.
Oh and by the way, even though he's a weak killer, he's a fun one to play. Many of us who occasionally play him don't camp (except after last gen of course, because at that point it's usually necessary). So don't get so worked up about it.

Democracy is a failed experiment. Your days are numbered.

Come on, you actually respond to those?Vietfox said:This spirit got rekt during the whole match (only got one hook and camped).
At the end of the match she hooked a friend at the basement. I wasn't running BT so i decided to rescue him at the cost of dying, but i kobed, she downed and hooked me again close to the exit gate, got rescued and managed to escape. Before escaping i t-bagged her of course and this is what i got after the match.
She had NOED btw (totally expected that) but we got rid of it before it could trigger

I love getting these messages. -
I don't think you can get to rank 1 by facecamping. Most of us do need a lot of strong addons however, and we have to play tryhard mode (which is the only mode worth playing in my opinion).
It's entirely possible though that many high rank killers, once they got to r1 don't care about pips so much anymore, and especially after a number of frustrating defeats, decide to make at least one survivor's life miserable. I know I have wanted to do that, only I just can't stay put for long enough to max out my Facecamper emblem. It's just too boring. -
Even without event boxes though, most of us end up with dozens of mories for our favourite killers... and a lot more Ebony than Ivory. There are more fun (or useful) offerings to use, except on *those* days.

It's a nice gesture, but many of us prefers being hooked right quick and move on to the next game. I wish there was some way to communicate "I'M NOT GONNA FARM", maybe with the exception of double BP events.
Also, I wish instant hook suicides could be punished the same as ragequits, though I'm at a loss as how to do that.

You scare them pesky survivors good. "Oh noes, he using ultra rares!"
^ Basically
I sometimes do this build on Spirit: only Spies From The Shadows, no addons but with a Cypress Mori or a Black Ward. I swear I CAN SMELL THEIR FEEEEAR

Disagree. Survivors need some clues against Freddy and especially Spirit with Prayer Beads. Moving grass is fine, but insufficient.
