  • You immediately recover from Exhaustion when you're hooked. Just saying.

  • Being able to use an ebony only after second hook would make the offering basically pointless, except for the fun factor. I understand in its current state it's a strong offering, but that's why it's relatively rare. Plus, there's a partial but quite effective way to counter it: leave the guy hanging till the last second, if necessary, but make a hundred percent sure you only do a safe rescue. And no, this does not include those "wee I have Borrowed Time let's yolo save"actions.

Now to think of it, it looks like an ebony (or ivory) mori is a very good educational tool.

And don't forget, most of us prefers a Survivor Pudding to any mori.

So I like to think of myself as a neutral player but obviously that isn't true anymore. I almost never play survivor now because I find it downright boring compared to killer. I'm constantly playing Billy and trying to learn Spirit (btw whispers on her is amazingly efficient). Despite this, however, I always side with survivor in the forums and I want solo survivor to be buffed and made more fun?

Which side am I currently maining?

"Maining" is for simpletons. Play each side, try out every killer, and hate everyone equally.
  • blue4zion said:

I main spirit, and I honestly think this would be unnecessary.

Exactly how I see it. I play her a lot too. Sorry @Soren , but I think you're wrong.
  • My take is: suicide on first hook should be punished too.
    Yeah I'm a blowhard.
  • Here you go.

Thanks Rene, appreciate it. Looks promising, even though I kinda hoped a number of other issues would be addressed. But at least the DC HUD bug is being worked on.

Too bad. Always wanted to be put in a cage by a fine lady.
    Sigh. One can dream.

  • I've had so much fun with a similar build recently. The best is when exit gate is open, I'm carrying one and the other three all goes altruistic and take one hit each then run to the exit area. I hook the poor soul, and... BLOOD WARDEN MUTHAFUCKAS :)

  • Btw, there's a player called @Delfador and he used NOED because he sucks.
  • Nurse, who else. Nurse mains are such sad creatures.
I don't get the hate about Freddy though. Some of the best survivor games are against him.
  • Ah, this cracks me up every time... "wee, last killer is an unfun one, this game is dead, devs are useless and the world's probably over too"
Some people on this forum are such cheap drama queens :)
  • I feel your pain @Ray_Penber . On the very rare occasion I use it, I can hit the skill check most of the time, but it won't do a survivor any good if he sucks at looping. The 20 seconds within which I'm downed again tell me it's a rather pointless perk :)
  • That would be nice.
  • From what I hear, console players are in general more childish (not that you can't meet such people on PC...). Yet the same ban rules apply to them as to us PC players. So no, all you have to do when getting messages like "enjoy your ban noob" is smirk and move on.

  • Absolutely. I'd love it!

Once the current bugs are fixed. Duh.

  • @ColgateAdvancedWhite sadly, no. All you can do is record your games. On the off chance you're playing with friends, you can ask them to do the same. Just don't forget, 99% of "suspicious things" are just people playing well or being lucky, not cheating.

    Your nick is awesome btw.

People are too prideful (myself included) to let something go. As a survivor I either jump or do a gen. I do occasionally win a hatch standoff as a survivor, just because the killer is better then me (in this case having less pride). As a killer most of the time it's a hit or miss, and I usually miss.

I get that, and it feels bad when the last survivor happens to that particularly annoying DS-flashlight-teabagging-OoO troll. But that's the point: it's a test of your character! Just ask yourself, "What would Jesus do?"

There's one change I'd actually go for: I'd not change anything for a healthy survivor, but if he/she was injured and got hit, I'd add something like a 5 seconds delay effect during which they can't jump into the Hatch (or a longer hatch escape animation, giving enough time to a killer to do the grab).
Hm. Probably stupid, it wouldn't solve the thing when the survivor is healthy. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Hatch standoff is not a thing, just learn to let things go.

  • @yobuddd said:
How about this? After the hatch standoff has lasted for 60 seconds or so (triggered by the killer and survivor both within a certain meter range of the hatch), the entity teleports both of them to different random corners of the map and respawns the hatch elsewhere.

This could happen multiple times per game but also increases options and enjoyment. Let’s face it, hatch standoffs are boring! The arguably best 2 players in the match should have the most fun, not the least!

Teleport would be a stupid mechanic (I know realism is not a priority, but it would be too off, and lazy design). Anyone with a single working brain cell knows what to do with hatch standoff: jump, or hit, and let the other escape/grab you and hook you. Only people without a brain are willing to just stand there for ages, doing nothing. I fail to see the problem.

  • The beautiful thing about Freddy is that although his power clearly has disadvantages, he has the best potential for 4K. With any other killer it's just tedious and boring to slug the third and hunt down the fourth, then go back looking for the third again (and no way I'm wasting a perk slot on high ranks on Deerstalker). His ability though makes it so wonderfully easy to find the one who slugged, after you've dealt with the other.
If you manage to get to that point, that is.

I get it... it saves the killer from SWF from getting the advantage of knowing what the killer has.. however, as someone who plays solo a lot (not always but a lot), I hate that I can’t even see what I was up against to make sure I can improve as a survivor the next time. I don’t want to have to wait for the game to end. It’s bad enough I have to wait a long time in the queue.. I don’t want to waste time waiting to see what the killer had. Now that was my personal beef.

For newer players, this is bad. Since newer players tend to die faster, how are they supposed to improve and learn the game and perks and add ons they lost to if they are hidden from them?

I honestly don’t think having swf groups being able to tell the others about the loadout was such a big deal that they had to make this change. This is frankly just annoying and unfair to newer players.

Please comment your thoughts and opinions below!

(and before you say it, yes I play killer about 75% of the time when I play alone. I never found this to be an issue for me)

Why is it so hard to understand that reverting this very much needed change would kill some builds, particularly endgame perks like Blood Warden?
I hardly ever play SWF as survivor, and I feel somewhat annoyed when I can't see killer's loadout too, but this is nowhere near as damaging as survivors telling each other about killer's "ace in the hole" perks.

If you want fair gameplay, you have to get used to this change.

I believe you can report someone if they intentionally reveal your location to the killer.

Yes, it falls under griefing. Intentionally giving other players a bad game experience.

No it doesn't, silly. Pointing out other survivors is a very much intended part of the game, and a very funny one too. I often reward such treachery by giving hatch :) The fact that it makes some survivors salty makes it even more satisfying.
Sowing discord is my favourite thing to do.

And let's not forget, solo survivors badly need at least some rudimentary means of communication.

I suggest you try to find your sense of humour, and enjoy these moments. Maybe your character dies in the process. So what.

My first survivor game today. The Clown hit through the pallet, alltough he was too far away to get this hit. Idk what you mean, maybe you're ping was just very low, often this is the problem. So heeey hopefully the dedicated servers are better than some bambus connections.

    And btw
the pallet HAS TO work ^^ those last nano meter hits shouldnt be a thing tbh

No, hitting survivor the same moment he hits you with a pallet is a good feature, when it works properly that is.
However, although I have not experienced what @Captain_Spaulding describes, it should be fixed. But there's another recent pallet bug, one that harms survivors: when hit while vaulting a pallet, they often get teleported back to the starting side.
And I very much agree with you Spaulding. Fixing technical issues should always come before any gameplay change, nerf, buff, new chapter or whatnot.

It's certainly a confusing change. I see no good reason for it to have happened so i'd be all for it getting reverted.

I like the change since if I've got a yellow quality item etc and there's a brown in there I don't automatically pick it up.

That's just not how it worked, ever.

For me on PC iot used to because of my mouse sensitivity being so high and keyboard so twitchy it'd swap over as soon as it opened up. Now there's actually a delay and I can see what's there.

Come on that doesn't make sense. You hold M1 until search is done. If you already have an item, you have to release the button then click again. I can't see what mouse sensitivity has to do with it.
I'm very much for reverting this change too.

I know. They took a long time to fix the "grab animation" bug that really hurt stealth killers like Spirit and Myers and its still not completely fixed as I have had the situation arise in a few of my games. Admittedly the frequency has dropped from near 100% to something far less common but it still frustrates me when I'm stuck standing there with my hand out while the survivors run away.

Ah yes, there's that. Happened to me too.
This stuff seems so much more important than the usual "remove DS and NOED - nerf Freddy - buff Nurse - fix my missus so we can have sex again" whining. I wish the devs worked ONLY on these issues, even at the cost of delaying whatever new content there's gonna be.

  • Who told you that? The right counter is this: come here to the forums and complain about it. That's what real men do!

  • @MegaWaffle said:
Every single patch released introduces a slew of new bugs. Its clear they either:
A: Don't have enough staff testing the patch prior to release.
B: Have inadequate staff (I doubt the staff is inadequate and believe its more a time/resource constraint).
C: Do not test everything and only focus on bug testing from the last patch list.
D: Enjoy our suffering and secretly feed the toxic sludge that is DBD.

Like EA has created a mistrust of their business model and Bethesda has created a mistrust in their capability to deliver good games (recently), BHVR has created a mistrust in their patch releases.

Well, I tend to be understanding towards them: the game's still great, and I'm sure it's not easy keeping everyting under control with new content coming out so frequently. It's just now there are more bugs than before, and not just silly/funny bugs, but ones that can actually ruin a match.
I'd be guessing they concentrate more on content than maintenance

Btw. They don't need such plots. They can have my toxic sludge for free, any time.

  • I love the idea! Some of these perks are too much, but a selfish survivor with selfish perks is very much needed. Hard Knock is great, the others... maybe. But the concept is very nice.

One of our resident killers on here after getting outplayed all game and never finding me/catching until I got sloppy at end of game working on last gen. They slugged me and went for for last person then acted all smart ass and smacked me on the hook.

I knew who it was but they didn't know i was using a funny name for a bit so they said that to me when there was no crying involved. I had to laugh given the amount of complaining on the forums they've done.

A number of killers don't seem to understand that smacking a hooked survivor is the killer equivalent of teabagging. Just like with teabagging, it's not a big deal if you can keep your cool, but it clearly expresses one's desire to be an #########.
  • Put the survivors on hooks where they belong. They can't repair gens while they're up there!

  • God, BBQ is not a strong perk by any means. The only thing we use it for is extra BP, which is sweet. But the aura reading is very weak. Here, let me repeat the counters others mentioned above:

    • hiding in a locker
    • hiding behind a gen
    • getting within distance
    • Distortion: great perk, not only for hiding you but what's even more useful that it tells you what aura reading perks or abilities the killer has
    • and not least of all, you can always fake moving to one direction, count for a few seconds and turn around. While this looks like the weakest counter, this is actually the best if you don't want the killer to think you're nearby, since that might encourage him camp your buddy.
    • Oh, and maybe Sole Survivor works too. I'm not sure, but it doesn't matter much, considering it's not a very good perk.

Honestly, with that many options to counter BBQ, it's one of the weakest aura reading killer perk. I personally don't mind that, basically you're sacrificing a slot you could otherwise use for something that's actually useful, that's the deal. But suggesting additional nerfs is absurd.

  • That's the most minuscule problem with the game, ever. Yet I find myself agreeing with OP: that process is just painstakingly long.
  • @Stubbsyefc1did you even bother to read Chrona's reply? Guy has some legit points.
  • @TangledNoodles said:
Can healing take 5 minutes? Can we get tombstones for all killers? Can survivors go down in 1 hit? Can noed be a regular perk? Etc..

Just nerf survivors to the ground, maybe one day people will stop whining about killers being weak.

Silly. Reacting with survivor sided whining to killer sided whining is hardly an appropriate response.

I swear it sometimes feels like kindergarten in here.

I would first check to see where I am, wonder what drug I took before falling asleep, and then once I do find out I am in the Entity's realm, I will try to hone my flight response. My driving hope would be to try to find a escape so I could return home to my family and friends. But I would not despair, for I know nothing is truly forever. Eventually, I will find a way to escape. If possible I will help anyone that I can help, but I know that sometimes it would not be possible to save everyone, I'd sacrifice myself as well if it could save a teammate.

@George_Soros , I mean... Tapp was killed in his bio. I would imagine that your knee would be sufficiently fixed enough to run.

    I meant teabagging ;)
  • Don't worry. I was quite happy you did that.
    :)
  • Because of the bug, as others said.

By the way folks: you DON'T get points for hitting a trapped survivor. Which makes the bug even more annoying.

  • Too few opportunities to make it worth. On the off chance you're actually on all generators when they're finished, it's still only four times (I think you always see killer's aura when the final gen is done, regardless whether done by you or someone else - not sure though).

The new Alert is way more useful: you see the killer every time he/she kicks a gen or a pallet, so you get notifications much more frequently.

  • I'm with @Skarkio here. You guys are so pessimistic about this upcoming event, even though there were hardly any serious problems with the last two, except for killer lobby times in Hallowed Grounds.
As always, the complaints about past events just show the same attitude as so many other posts: some players cannot accept that their opponents in the game work against them. Yea, sometimes it means you're denied an event hook, sometimes it means you're slugged, and a lot of stuff that can drive you mad. But that's the beauty of dbd! If the game did not have the potential to make you lose your #########, it would be much less fun.
  • Whiners, all of ya. Go play Barbie Island 2. No pallets or Ebony Mories there.

    It is gross though.

    Goddammit.

If this reply is serious then allow me to explain sexuality with an analogy that has worked a lot for me.

Sexuality is like chocolate bars. Everyone has their favourites that they tend to stick to. Maybe milk chocolate is your thing, and in this scenario the milk chocolate is symbolic of women, whilst white chocolate is symbolic of men.

The reason why you find two white chocolate bars smushing up against each other is because you prefer milk chocolate. If two milk chocolate bars started smushing up on one another you might enjoy that instead. But everyone has a right to enjoy whatever chocolate type they want and they should be able to live their lives without people telling them what chocolate they should like.

I can give you a more serious answer. If you want.
