When exactly did Spirit get good?

I remember when she came out she was getting the same treatment as Legion is now and described as a weak killer.

I was away for a bit and now I often see her described as upper tier and on lists ranked just below Nurse, Billy and Hag.

What happened? What did they change? Or did people just learn her?

  • She was not released in her intended state. Once she was fixed and received one buff that most people agreed was necessary, she became good.

What exactly did they change? Gave her a nicer butt?

  • They made so that the "whoosh" sound when she's phasing is not directional outside of her Terror Radius, and you can't hear the "whoosh" sound when inside her Terror Radius. They also lowered the recharge time of her power.

  • For me, she became really good when they fixed that loud phasing sound. As you can see, many people stopped playing the spirit after the update since it messed up the sound system. The most important clue for spirit is the sounds and when she was using her power, imo, survivors had more advantage in the past before the phasing sound adjustment.

When does the phasing sound occur? Is that when you are charging the power or when you release it?
(sorry have not played as or against her much)

  • 2 things happened:

    • People learned how to play her
    • People got rekt by her on a regular basis

Result? OMG she IS strong! :O

When the charge is completed and you start phasing.

No, other way around. Only people outside your TR will hear the phasing sound.

Nope, experienced survivors will definitely move away from the generator and try to hide as soon as they hear the whoosh (which is not affected by M&A).
You can have a marvelous grabfest though if you're using Prayer Beads Bracelet, especially if you throw in ToTH. They can do very little to counter it.

That is why you exit phasing before getting close to the gen.
  • Spirit became good when she got the buffs that Killers realized she needed and were mocked for calling out for in "the first two hours of the PTB."
