RANT Okay this topic is something I want to talk about. My experience as a killer is very very frustrating. I'm a rank 15 killer starting to learn different killers and all of that. I'm getting matched with pretty much all red rank surviviors. My matches are beyond frustrating and I'm getting tired of it. They keep looping me no way I can catch them of course not they run sp dh ds. Not to mention the constant blinds of their flashlight. This matchmaking system is beyond broken. Me as a killer rank 15 should never ever go up against rank 1-4 surviviors. Most of them are swf so that's even more frustrating. Why is the matchmaking in this game so damn unbalanced. I'm getting to a point where I no longer have any desire to keep going like this. So probably after this event I'm gonna leave this game on the shelf for a few months. At least match me with people of similair skill. idk how everyone feels about this but for me it drives me away from the game since I know my experience is gonna be pure frustration 90% of my games what's the point? Devs should really fix this issue with matchmaking. I'm fed up
rank means nothing in all honesty. i've played red ranks who play worse than new players. You'd be surprised how likely you are to have a lobby full of either solo or duo players. Since ranks only reset 1 tier now and if people are actually playing a lot they'll be easily purple or red. I'd say practice more, watch how survivors play and counter it as best you can, an alternative is to just take the game less serious in general.
-
i've very rarely had the game crash. I play on pc though so it could be why.

Just a thought, but it kinda seems as if licensed characters bring some of the most powerful perks into the game. Not all three per character, but still.
both sides have a decent perk or so like leatherface has bbq, lori has d-strike. aside from that i don't think any of the others are super great.

To the Hillbilly that found this Dwight stuck ON THE TOP of the hungry hill, thanks for letting me out. Don’t even know how or what I got stuck on at the top of the hill, but thanks, killer, for getting me loose and letting me out!
theres another place you can get stuck on ontop of the hill i think it's only on macmillan maps though because the hills are very rocky

Apparently they are changing Dead Hard at some point. Part of me hopes to get rid of the DH for Distance (or E to "outplay" 4Head) crap, but we all know they'll probably just buff it.
They're redoing it to make it more consistent on dedicated servers as it was designed for p2p connections. It's not a buff or a nerf just making it actually work how it should instead of leaving you exhausted on the ground.
-
I'd say people don't like playing him as killer for the most part because of his underwhelming amount of bloodpoints he gets. Just an assumption as he gets really no devious or brutality (if in tier 3). He's also a bit annoying to tier up sometimes since dedicated servers regresses his progress.

not saying its broken, just want to be able to have options. Like denying a survivor "dead hard for distance" plays
but if they change it it may end up being broken.
-
it's pretty rough to get all perks it's a couple mil bloodpoints because of perk tiers. There's also 5-6 pages of perks which make the grind for every perk on a killer or survivor tedious.
-
As killer i will always miss my hits because of dead hard even though i know they have it.
As survivor not healing a lot or spending too much time searching for totems.

Biggest reason is people that keep playing after bad matches.
They build up all the frustration untill it ends up exploding.
When you play only a couple of matches a day you rarely get angry
i frequently play for a few hours at a time and i don't get super frustrated with the game. I mean i guess it's because there's always the next game and it will be different.

Or play killer. Boom - you are your only teammate.
More bloodpoints too!

I mean DC penalties could. Be re worked. Option A: your rank is lowered and the conditions to raise it are doubled. I'd say 5 ranks per DC. Option B lock each character that they dc with for 24 hours. They only reason couldn't play at a is because they dc'd with every single character.
you see the problem is it was like that way back in the day. A dc would set you back 3 pips but people exploited the heck out of it because it's super easy to derank then.
@ToppingPanic said:
Totally agree we should have a penalty for disconnecting, but damnnnn i cannot stay in a match with some trash teammates. Getting into red ranks should be a greater challenge. Would help with suicides and disconnects.
i mean if you simple can't stay there just die on hook theres no point in dcing if you know for a fact it will make you wait. Now i don't necessarily agree with the time penalty for dcing stacking to days at a time, i feel it should always be a 30 minute ban each occasion. If you're willing to screw over others, well, you get yours in return.

So yeah other have said this already but here's my take on it. We all know solo que is well a very sad place. I agree with a proximity chat and I play both sides. It should be you can talk to each other within 8 meters not like SWF where you relay information across the map but more to plan out a strategy or tell the Claudette in a bush to fix a gen. Or help out your teammates if they're doing rough. And heck the killer if he's within the 8 meters can speak and listen also. But DBD has a good amount of toxics so if you want you can turn it off. If people are being harsh. My idea for it say your ideas or concerns below.
My solo que experience is very sad because teammates are literal potatoes. The option of game chat would probably worsen this for me as in other games my solo que experience has worsened with game chat by needless insults and backseat gaming from someone who screwed up immediately and now thinks he knows what's best for my gameplay.

I've seen some pretty busted fat shaming spots on yamaoka estate next to the house. It forces the killer to walk around an entire small loop to get the the other side and the survivor can just walk through the gap in the tree. It was pretty much a simple infinite as if you just moved back and forth the killer couldn't hit you ever, even with bloodlust 3
-
Watched the video and it made me think a bit about it but i mean i've never spent money on skins and such in dbd. I do buy the new dlcs when they come out because i enjoy playing them and it's only a few dollars every 3 months. The thing is it's been like this since the in-game store launched.

That’s one of the reasons I turned crossplay off from it’s initiation. DBD seems PC dominant as far as performance is concerned. I never felt, nor will I ever feel that cohesion between PC and Console will ever be possible. PC feels like the favourite child, catered to by the parents and showered with love, while Console is looked upon as always being the deprived, under appreciated, lesser loved of the kids who doesn’t receive the same attention and isn’t ever taken seriously, by devs and players alike.
Hope console gets future inclusion into these special events like the one you mentioned.
It's PC dominant because that's where it was released on and probably what it's optimized for. The optimization isn't the best for PC and it took me getting a new PC earlier this year to play on medium with a steady framerate. I get the struggle console is going through because i have played this game since 2016. First few years were on a awful laptop getting 15-30 fps more often than not under 20 fps.

Almo stated that the MMR is a priority, but didn't say when it would be implemented.
The game continues to lose players do to matchmaking, the incessant grind, not to mention all of the bugs and glitches. DBD on Steam just lost 9,000 players within the last 30 days. Hell PS4 owners are currently experiencing one of the worst performance issues ever which is making the Halloween event completely unplayable for them.
Unless BHVR seriously turns things around for the better, then this game is going to crash and burn with no hope of recovery.
I really don't get what the down 9k players means. Are you looking at steamcharts? Because if you are you'd notice while this month may be a lower one it's still higher average players than any month last year by almost 10k.

Yes. Like I have each time. I love the game but I swear this is the most toxic community outside of PUBG.
I've seen a lot worse communities. Siege is pretty bad.
-
I'd say it really depends as PC will beat out console on the hardware side and less fps drops and such. This game hasn't been optimized the greatest from the start and not much has changed since.
As for roles survivor will see minimal differences. As stated above maybe some sharper turns on pc and more looking behind but that's about it.
Killer would depend on killers as some probably won't play as well on console as they will on pc with accuracy or turn speed.

We're only missing literal Pay-2-Win and Lootboxes.
The EULA allows that. So it is not unlikely that these will indeed be added to the game.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1706405#Comment_1706405
I have extreme doubts that they will ever add loot boxes as they initially stated when the store was released there would be no loot boxes.
as for pay-to-win that will never be added either unless it's a licensed killer or something that people claim they can't afford for whatever reason.
-
I've had some suspected run-ins with hackers since the update. Unsure if some were actually hacking or just lagging awfully as i'd be hit after the killer was stunned by a pallet(not them swinging through it, the animation going through and halfway through a quick swipe and i get hit).
Another was a match where a survivor got them self up twice off the ground and this could be due to lag/perks BUT the really suspicious thing was the game freezing for a good minute without crashing, then resuming like normal. Also one survivor was making the missed skillcheck noise of being stabbed while no one was around them.

Lets think about this for a second: How do such bad survivors consistently make it to red ranks?
because ranks do not reset at all like they used to.

Adrenaline shouldn't work if you're exhausted to prevent stacking with another strong chase perks
why not? it's literally a end game perk and that's it. If you don't get all 5 gens it doesn't get activated.

Survivors are not allowed to use DS, unbreakable, OoO etc
but I AM allowed to use insta downs, moris, every single strong perk possible and the reasoning is "im the power role"
so you tell me.. ME who has to deal with
-potatoe teammates
-Dedicated servers, hitboxes, bloodlust
-unsafe pallets in every corner, dead ends
-insta downs, moris, strong killer perks
even tho i need to deal with more things then you can imagine its a a.s*ole move when i bring strong perks?
BUT "survivor playing is so easy LMAO TROLOLOL"
yeah its very easy especially when you get dedi hits in every corner. go play soloQ with potatoes and lets meet again.
you dont want people to complain about your noed and mori then you also shouldnt complain about some solo survivors bring some perks to survive longer because they dont wanna get tunneled at the beginning of the match.
The amount of survivors around red rank who do absolutely nothing is absolutely astounding. Like why do i have to do 4 of the 5 gens? Also another thing i got chewed out by a killer last night for escaping with a key after doing 3 out of 5 generators by myself while my team just altruism piled. I also found this key in a chest but i am in the wrong for escaping with it.

Still say it’s those HitBoxes.
Killers get like 2+ feet of space inbetween their weapon and the survivor to score the hit. Then they accept the hit like they actually earned it by swinging through empty air. It looks completely unrealistic.
I can’t take hitting a survivor seriously when I’m not even slicing into them. I’m excited for when this game gets precise and every hit is earned. That feels more rewarding, imo.
If games like Siege can have realism to the precision of requiring the hit to strike the target’s body for scoring the attack, then there’s no reason why DBD can’t be the same.
It’s like playing a cartoon.
difference is one is a massive company and one is much smaller in comparison. Doesn't excuse some things but it's a decent reason why.
-
Because the game was originally out for only PC and has been there since the beginning. It wasn't added to console because the lack of keyboard i'm assuming.
-
idk if it's lag or hackers honestly. i had a game earlier with a legion that would get stunned by a pallet then hit me while still in the stun animation.

Yeah I agree with you lots of camping and tunneling recent and I understand that killers lose points if they’re near the hook not patrolling gens but there should at least be a slowdown to the survivors hook bar. In 1st phase and struggle in that situation.
i did say that they the person on hook should have their hook time slowed if the killers near without other survivors near.
-
Probably afk/tabbed out because que times are not the best.
-
Here's the thing.
-The Dwight crow charm is a little unfair and i've heard tons of people complaining that.
The Event is lackluster and kind of a disappointment but it was okay i suppose. It got really bad with the band-aid fix of the shards+bps that gave a big old sucker punch to those who bought the outfits prior to the sale (that sale was not announced anywhere and no other outfits have gone on sale this soon after release).
PS4 is having issues also which cause problems with them actually playing the event.
And lastly this is a horror game and people expect a massive event for Halloween because of it. I had no huge expectations but i was one of those people who have to eat the loss of shards because of the sale on the new outfits.
-
Was actually having a discussion about this with a friend the other night, i feel it should work how the emblem works. If there's survivors around the hooked survivor it goes down normal rate if the killers close. If the killers close and no survivors are near it goes does at half the speed. I've recently started playing a bit of survivor again since the update and man the amount of campy bois i run into is astounding.
-
Well you see i was fine for the most part you know i seen the outfits and thought "cool new stuff" but then they went and lowered all the outfits to 9k shards instead of the 21k which i paid for one and i now have to eat that loss of time invested because they didn't think ahead and decided to try to make a band-aid fix which caused even more anger in other people.
-
yea that happens and it's annoying. Especially when it's more than one person in end game.

Smurfing is intentional deranking to bully babies, so you aren't smurfing.
smurfing is using a new/different account to go against new players/less skilled players. The intention is usually to well wreck them.

Uhm no they did this as a "oh s**t they are really mad we didn't give them a chance to get free skins this year what can we do?" response
yes and they didn't think of the consequences for changing the pricing of the outfits people paid full price in auric cells or shards for which are not being refunded. This is what really upsets me more than anything, knowing i have to eat the loss on shard because they decided to change the prices to band-aid a problem.

so..yeah,I bought the new Felix Skin for 1200 auric cells(dont ask me why I bought it piece by piece) but I'll be satisfied with 1020 auric cells refund as well.I wouldn't have cried over this if I would've bought the skin with shards but there was no option for it.This is auric cells we're talking about here aka real money...I'm just sad:(
people aren't even getting their shards refunded and have to eat the loss of 12k iridescent shards per outfit purchased. I would say shards are worth more than cells to some people as it costs a lot of their time to earn them.

I saw only the Halloween update patch notes that they would have a sale later after the event comes out, and the devs said "we have heard comments and will do something about it" but im just wondering if the daily login rewards and sales are the compensation for criticism of the event or they were planned anyways.
The shards and bloodpoints are okay, the sale on the new cosmetics has really gotten a lot of people annoyed and frustrated for good reason.

Probably but whenever a update comes out people always talk about the perk changes and stuff but here none no one has been talking about it
very disappointed in the wglf buff. I mean the healing speed is great if the killer is slugging but earning the stacks through other means would've been more helpful.

What were you expecting? First the problems with ps4 stability, then the "sale" on the new cosmetics and not refunding people their original shards/cells spent.
-
oh its the amazing new skins for halloween that people paid full price in shards for. You know the ones that were around 21k and are now 9k shards it's great.

@StarLost said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/194165/soooooo-where-is-mmr
It's not MMR exactly. There are a few things at play here:
- The old protections against smurfcomps were removed. Now 3 red survivors can queue up with a smurf/deranked account (not hard to do thanks to DC penalty removal) at level 15 and be guaranteed a lowbie killer to stomp for the entertainment of their stream.
- Killer matchmaking was removed entirely. Meaning that it's entirely possible to get thrown to the wolves, game after game.
Why, you ask?
Well...that's a very good question. And I'm guessing it was survivors complaining about queue times.
Yes, I've just been bounced by two smurfing SWF premades in a row and yes, I'm salty about it.
There's an issue with the waiting in general but survivor queue times were horrendous and made me not want to play survivor, even with friends because of it. I would rather insta que as killer and get probably close to triple the amount of blood points than i would waiting 5-10 minutes for a game as survivor.
-
It happens yea, so does nonsense like body blocking, and survivors not leaving a match waiting at the gates. Tunneling is probably one of the best ways for a killer to actually achieve the goal of killing survivors and limiting progression. Unless you'd prefer slugging which is no fun for survivors one bit.
-

I'm barely getting any disconnects I don't get why everyone on the forum is having so many lol.
You are getting them though is the things. When the penalties were enabled i would get a dc maybe once every 10 matches, now i get them probably 30-40% of the time.
-
can we talk about the hex totem bunkers in lerys? It's pretty crazy on some spawns, others not so much.
-
Not sure really. I know they're disabled because streamers getting hacked penalty timers or something but i don't know why they don't set the max dc penalty at an hour or 30 minutes even. I feel that's an ample amount of time to make someone stop doing it or at minimum restrict their ability to do it every game whilst preventing the issue with certain people getting hacked and having 72 hour penalties.
