Besides the Box, isn't Pinhead just a worse clown?

His chains can be snapped quickly around walls, and require that you don't miss the survivor. Clown can toss a bottle at a long side of a loop without extreme worry about aiming. Clown can cause a slowdown for the survivor while still moving at his normal speed, while pinhead has to stop moving completely to use his ability.

I remember Clown's slowdown on his bottle throw animation - Pinhead's ability reminds me a bit of this but with 0 M/S movement speed throughout the use of his chain ability.

    Thoughts?

agreed but clown doesn't have a mass of chains that mess the survivors up aftr a short period of time. Clown also cannot teleport to anyone trying to stop it

  • YOU OPENED THE BOX.... AND I CRASHED!!!!

  • I have had one match where i killed them all and it didnt crash the match. not even the game it sends you back to lobby.

I guess he's failed his code "I do this for my next fellow Killer so he will not suffered by this flashlight" and decided to DC as his own punishment

lmao I thought it was cheeky as hell. I loved it and have done it before but this was long before dc penalties.

  • @C3Tooth said:

I dont like to lose 6000 BP item so I decided to lose 20000 BP match too

no the killer purposely dcd after hitting a survivor that had a purple flashlight with franklins

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Just chalk it up to entitlement. People can't handle being told NO and not have something go their way. No point in trying to understand them, they won't change. Just move on and hope the next match it better.

OH I thought it was funny to be honest. I just dont think one flashlight is worth a dc penalty.

  • I will have my opinion on this regardless as this is based on what I have seen and played.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

Disagree, ruin only pressures one survivor at a time unless the killer is capable of juggling multiple survivors, usually dependant on how spread out and easy to down they are. Undying isn't worth a slot just to extend another hex.

Tinker is good, but I've also seen it ineffective at helping a killer to stop Gen completion.

Ive seen and had games where the trio literally won the match for me / the killer. Sure it can be taken out but when it isnt it literally promotes lazy killer gameplay. I respect your opinion and agree they can be taken out but when you play it on a map like swamp its gg 100%

Except that both sides are required to sustain the game. If they really did only care about survivors they’d dramatically reduce the number of people willing to play killer, which would inflate survivor queues to the point of killing the game.

You can see from the game’s balance history that the devs clearly want both sides to be as happy as is reasonable and practicable.

I mean theres still a ways to go imo. Look at maps like game and Haddon disgustingly surv sided. Chapel was well balanced and is not disgustingly survivor sided

  • @burt0r said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2454049#Comment_2454049

Except that such behaviour would put off the already numerically smaller side and dry it up until only one side remains, unless player from the majority side switch and realize how unpreferred that other side feels and ultimately also might stop playing that side and the game completely dies.

Killer is already the more attention demanding role with more micromanaging and attention juggling. The only advantage is not being dependent on team performance but also has no option to play with friends and/or use comms to improve gameplay.

    lmao this is priceless

  • @dspaceman20 said:

Is this a survivor vs killer post? I'm not sure

it is a comedic title. but it literally did cancel my pick up and let the survivor crawl and get hatch. It was funny to me is all.

So when you get a DLC on a console for dbd all profiles get the dlc, so my question is it technically on all profiles or just the console?

you will get them on all profiles if you have your xbox set to the profiles home xbox.

  • @Akito said:

EVerything is about business. Stranger Things is THE one licensed dlc that is a huge deal. It's growing, it's very very expensive and it becomes even more expensive duo to the new season 4. Not like many others licensed characters is ST still in the present, still growing and a part of netflix.

Netflix has enough reasons to tell bhvr to pay way more for those very famous characters you can PLAY and the famous map you can actually experience and play in a videogame.

So Netflix most likely wanted bhvr to pay much more money in order to renew a full license. BHVR didn't felt like the price/worthyness was balanced and canceled the full license. They still got a license, otherwise Netflix wouldnt had allowed BHVR to keep those characters and their content. Nothing is for low, especially not Stranger Things icons.

So the simple answer to is: the good old money.

Thank you for this. I was sure this was it I am just big sad they would turn around and do this after BHVR has been with it for 8 long chapters. just kinda scummy if if you ask me. As much as I love the show I am terribly upset at how this all unfolded. Sure we get to keep the characters but for how long? What if Netflix up and decides nope we want more money!!!

  • @WeenieDog said:

I mean, are we really entitled to an explanation? it's not like those of us that bought the DLC are losing it or being locked out of it.

i WAS JUST CURIOUS!!!! No one said we were entitled which is why it is in the form of a question. :)

  • @ChurchofPig said:

I'm really sad too, I basically started dbd with the intro of Stranger Things because I'm a switch player and it came to switch like the week after Stranger Things came to the game. As much as I don't like playing on Hawkins, I'm really going to miss that map and I'm really sad that Stranger Things is leaving. I was so sure that Stranger Things was eventually going to be a license with a tome and I was really looking forward to those challenges, WELP guess I won't be getting my wish. I'm also gonna miss finding out Stranger Things is getting more cosmetics and what those will be.

and atleast they are allowing us to exclusively have the characters.

  • Maybe they will be able to put challenges in the tome now that the perks are going to be non teachables.

  • @Shroompy said:

You could always you know.. run behind cover

In fact one of the very first things you should do when you're caught in the open against Trickster is B-line for the first LoS blocker you see, you're most likely gonna get injured but the speed boost can help out and A LOT and Trickster becomes A LOT less accurate with distance.

that's easier said than done on maps like family residence. 90% of that map is open area. Take the injure getting to cover and he still gets 2 in you after the fact which leaves 4 hits before your down which he can STILL get because of where the hit box on the survivor is. I've been around corners and still get hit by knives/hatchets. The difference is hatches cant hit over nearly as much as tricky boy can.

  • @Tricksters_Wife said:

He's very strong out in the open, but not much he can do at any high walled loop. Distance is also a weakness of his. The distance that you make after transitioning from healthy to injured makes or breaks a chase with him. Honestly I'm accepting that his kit is just going to stay black and white as it is — he's either going to shred if you don't find an area fast to counter him or he's gonna struggle hard in some of his bad maps. The only way I can see him being balanced on both sides is reverting his knife changes and making him a 115% killer.

I don't know many places that you can throw knives through or under. Only place I can think of is killer shack but it's really hard to pull off getting a health state through the cracks of the boards. But if a Trickster is able to take a health state that way they deserve the down for playing well tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️ but he's as balanced now than he ever was. He was able to shred through 2 health states in good situations even before his buffs but now people are just realizing how good he can be in the right hands — just like every killer.

Ive watched him hit people over walls that were taller than the survivor. I think its gross how strong he is even at high wall loops. He can still hit you with 2/3 knives while turning the corner so two corners is one health state. He sees you your dead no questions. All it takes is basic aim and the survivor has very little options. You literally have be immersed to survive him imo

this was quite a while back, (The MMR has been in the works for a while now)

Not sure where this came from, if it was officially posted on the forum or something that was datamined (and if it was the later pls ignore it because we....are not allowed to talk about leaks....even though rank rewards have been promised officially)

but yeah there you see its suddenly on a per rank base in the high ranks and imo that should not be.

yea but it is only a 25k diff imo and this would be good if they didnt cap it out at a mill

  • @BioX said:

where did you get the information that nobody wants it?

I am looking forward to fully stepping over to the MMR system.

The only problem is the claimed rewards for ranks, because I think they showed earlier that rewards would be based literally per rank.

so rank 2 would give you significantly less then rank 1, and that would just be very frustrating to the point where I think some will just stop playing once they reached rank 1 for fear of losing it (it now having actually consequences).

So I think they should do it per rank colour category, x points for brown, x points for green, purple and red.

Where did you see the info on rank rewards?

  • @GrimoireWeiss said:

The Game is probably because there could be a gen spawn that survivors were unable to access due to closed doors.

No idea for Blood Lodge though.

Its funny how both well mostly game now a days is pallet heaven and its disabled lol but yes I have seen the gen on game where the doors block survivors from getting to it

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Nah, none of them make me feel like that. Instead, I get a feeling of disappointment every time I see its a Wraith. It seems like all the old tunnely players who used to play Freddy before his nerf switched to Wraith and just tunnel off hook at 5 gens. The second I hear his grunting or bell, it's an immediate sigh.

I feel you on that actually. You get that feeling in the pit of your stomach like yupp this match is going to be dog crap :)

  • @Bwsted said:

It's almost the same as chasing a healthy survivor.

'Almost' because IW does indeed remove breathing sounds, but breathing is not audible over chase music anyway except on a few survivor characters.

So, if you can chase healthy survivors, you can chase Iron Will users.

when you are certain killers and when you are looking for someone and when a survivor is healthy you can here them breathing as they run in a jungle gym and what not. Iron will Completely takes that way. You may not be able to hear it But I can certainly hear the breathing from a Healthy survivor in chase.

No it's LITERALLY not on every survivor. Hyperbole doesn't reinforce your position it actually undermines it.

I have played just over 3500 hours in DBD - around 1700 of that as survivor and have ran Iron Will MAYBE 5 times. BHVR just released the top 3 perks ran by survivors and Iron Will isn't even in the top 3. F

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0PGDD1YH44JS/e6wj4mlxmam0ueu.jpg

    acts matter.

this was before the stridor change. out of 5 games there are 18 Iron wills. So I don't really care what this says . Watch any of my recent vods and you will clearly see almost EVERY survivor running it

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If they’re on KB+M and they’re actually good with him, he probably is pretty nuts when he’s in his element. In tight spots though, and going against good survivors that know how to run, he’s not as great. Controller Trickster is a joke though.

I just threw over EVERY tile on Hawkins. The addons he has now make him disgusting too. I just get bored easy as him. If I see you... Your dead no question. Doesn't matter who I face I'm downing you quickly. Its So easy now.

  • @GannTM said:

It is a bug. It makes her less bearable to play when survivors run Iron Will especially.

agreed I think it is because of the stridor nerf.

I've taken to employing the "corner in the basement" move once endgame is triggered. Particularly when the game matches me with a team that is clearly above my skill level with multiple flashlights and adrenaline perks and I get destroyed the entire game. I already know I did terrible, why should I subject myself to trolling, t-bagging losers once it's already obvious I'm 0k-ing a game?

It happens EVERY time too. It's like the less people you killed in a trial, the more ######### all the remaining survivors act. It's extra annoying too when they don't take the hint that I'm not showing up and I have to go afk for two whole minutes while they camp in the door until the last second just to waste my time.

I get it too. What I do in the case that they sit there is I go around using my power to get points while they sit there wasting time getting nothing. It a lil thing I do to say ahaha you wasted 2 whole minutes of your life while I went around breaking pallets and topping off my Deviousness points.

I have a lot of fun as a solo survivor. It feels so much more rewarding to win as a solo imo. Just set realistic expectations - you're gonna get potato teammates at some point or you're going to go up against a superior killer and they're gonna wreck the survivors. You just gotta laugh and have fun sometimes even when you lose.

This is an extreme example but, If I only played with an optimal swf and won every game I ever played I'd get bored of DBD within a week.

O00o0o I def do set realistic expectations. If you are a red rank you should AT LEAST know to do gens. I dont care if you potato in chase or any of that but if you cannot do a SINGLE generator then you should not be in red ranks. I know the threshold for red ranks isnt hard to meet but come on man

  • @KSzerker said:

Bragging about DCing because things didn't go your way? Gonna be a yikes from me, dawg.

well I was done with the game. 5 minutes of chase 3.5 gens done alone. For what?? Other survivors to do nothing and get free points? Im set with that lol If they were at least somewhat competent it would be fine but I was done with it seriously like watching paint dry to play a match where you know you should have at least finished the gens and nothing gets done!!!! Not that I need your approval but I was done with it.

  • @Apollos said:

Take a break for a while and see how you feel.

Whenever I get burned out but still feel like playing, I change up my playstyle. What I mean by that is that I run perks I never use before, or try sensory depravation (like listening to music while I play), or just do silly bs. The ranking system sucks at the end of the day, so forcing yourself to let go of it kind of takes a weight off and lets you enjoy the game in a different way. Just what I do.

probably right. I took one day off of playing but I missed it lol. its one of those masochists' things you know. I love the punishment ahahah

  • Exactly. Idc is they can hear me phasing. That wont save them lol. The main purpose is to stop the gen form being completed and whether they run off or stay its a win for me!! lol

Most posts about spirit usually say how spirit is strong so I feel like this assumption isn't silly.

I mean wouldnt I be crying about it like the others If i was survivor. I use this build on my spirit with some gross addons and its disgusting.

  • @RenRen said:

I can understand why your not happy about tinkerer and pop but your complaining about surge and discordance?

I think you are assuming I am the survivor here... lol I was the spirit!!!! when you assume you look pretty silly.

I mean, you seem to think that they count, otherwise you would not be so upset about it.

If they find a Key in a Chest and escape due to poor luck, I simply dont care. It is not my fault that they escaped.

I mean am i upset about the escape? No Is it annoying to have a message in your inbox from the worst survivor on the team talking smack? sure. You people seem to miss the actuall message here.

  • @Heartbound said:

Exit gates do not count as an escape either. Neither does death.

    Death is not an escape.

    agreed :)

  • @justbecause said:

Wait.... Why is it important for you if it counts? They escaped you lost nothing changed that's like saying killer didn't win because he tunelled yes he did win no matter what he used by ur logic nothing powerful in this game wouldn't be win imagine me saying to spirit players "heh your win doesnt count ur playing killer with no skills" and after all this isn't competition for Oscar it's a game

An Item That opens an escape Is complete nonsense and should NOT even be a thing. TO pull a key out of a chest no plunderers is so common recently its gross. You think what you want I don't count it especially if you end a trial with 10k escaping through hatch and the others are in the 20s. lol 7k of your points is the hatch escape so otherwise would be 3k.... IT DOESN'T count.

  • I do agree that the all seeing is bs and needs to be taken care of. But That's like the only thing other than his silent bell that needs change. I don't agree with that god awful lunge length even tho it was supposedly always that length. All - Seeing should be changed to do something other than to read auras or decrease the lunge and or cloak movement speed. I feel it needs a downside to it. coxcomb clapper should also make him much slower in cloak or much much slower coming out of cloak. movement and uncloak imo. I don't think he should have all these great pluses with no downside to it.

of course. There are much more pressing matters than something as silly as this. I was just pissed she got away because of it. You know what of those matches where you know you earned the 4 but because of some bs mechanic the worst survivor on the team gets hatch!!!!

Lol i have always been aware of the stupidity of that mechanic but the kate was literally already through the atmosphere when i swung lol

  • @Predated said:

Things you might overlook on Gideon:

    1. you can leave a chase early, you never are forced to dedicate to 1 chase untill you down that survivor.
    2. once a pallet is gone, it's gone forever(yes, its boring kicking more than 6 pallets, but boring/annoying doesnt mean unbalanced).
    3. generators are quite easy to keep pressure on, even for killers that have a hard time keeping pressure.
    4. it contains by far the most powerful basement in the entire game, even considering that basement is being surrounded by 5 god pallets(2 on the top floor in the security room, 2 next to the bathroom, 1 right outside the doors).
    5. it's very easy to force a deadzone.
    6. It's very easy to force survivors into a corner because you can always cut them off, which makes "holding W" quite ineffective as you cannot run from corner to corner if the killer uses the inner circle to cut you off(combine this with 5, and you can see how it can be a possibly easy down).

The Game is the epithet of "hit and run" type of playstyle. Keeping people injured whenever you have the oppertunity to, and once a chase takes too long, just break the pallet and force the next survivor to run the exact same way, oblivious to all the pallets that have gone missing.

The main counter to holding w is killers being able to cut survivors off. The Game is one of the few maps that gives the killer good vision on the survivor while also giving him room to cut off. If a survivor gets you through holding W on The Game, you're not thinking about what you could do to cut them off.

Yes, the pallets and constantly kicking them is an unfun and potentially very boring mechanic, which is The Game's biggest issue. DBD needs an environmental resource that has a similar gameplay effect as a pallet(aka, stunning the killer and blocking them off for 2 seconds), but has a different playstyle to it. The Game is lacking player interaction between Killer and Survivor unless you use the design heavily in your favor, but balance-wise? It's fine.

The real problem starts coming when you reach competitive levels of SWF, but there are many problems that exist once you start including competitive levels of SWF, when those problems do not really surface in public lobbies.

    A few Counter points.

    1. Sure you can leave a chase just to find another survivor next to 5 safe pallets.

    2. absolutely one pallet out of many is gone.

3 Generators are goo to pressure but not good enough with the lumber yard.

    4. Basement play = Poop and should have to play the basement to win.

    5. Not as easy as you would say. A smart survivor or a survivor with windows = Deadzoneless chases. You say you can force it but again there are soo manty pallets you have to waste a boat load to force the dead zone.

The map is just unfun all around. I think that BHVR does a great job at most things but maps are not their strong suit.

‹ 1 2 3 … 13
