Infinite loading only happens when someone in the lobby is on console. As a survivor, it only happened to me when the killer was on console. So it's a console issue if anything.

I play on console, and it did seem more stable with crossplay off. Maybe that was it instead.

  • Idk man, I had a game today where I turned a corner and nearly ran into Michael's chest. Scared the ######### out of me and had me on edge the rest of the game. So some of them do well.

Also, horror is incredibly subjective, so it's impossible to create a "universal" scary character. I have a friend who is dead terrified of the twins, but they make me laugh whenever victor comes sliding around the corner.

  • +1 TTVs. If they aren't smurfing, they usually are really annoying teammates.

  • This event hahaha

Seriously though, I actually can't play the game right now. I'm getting multiple infinite loads in a row, and at least 50% of games with friends only load half of us into a lobby and kick the other half. We've been trying the last two nights to play and only average one game every 45 minutes. It's painful and boring and we can't do the Halloween event together because of it.

I mean if you've upgraded to a new console as in PS4 to PS5 yeah the trophies won't transfer over.

But I haven't. I am and have always been on PS4. They just reverted randomly.

  • 54e.png

This is the meme my friends and I quote now every time we play this game.

I think you need to start doing endgame builds.

Use NoEd, Blood Warden, Remember Me, and one other perk of your choice. Then pretend you are an AFK killer by running a macro on your LMB.

When the gens are almost done or when one of the survivors find you and starts dancing in front of you and flickig your face wtih a flashlight, whack him hard, put him on the hook, then mop up the rest of the peons.

It's something I could certainly try. I would say my current build is a mid game, and I seem to fluxuate between 4k and 0k. There's like no in between. I can either completely stall the game at the 2 gen mark, or I get superlooped and genrushed.

Can prolly chalk some of that up to the mmr. I get games at my level and then after a couple 4ks it goes "oh, this is way to easy!" And pits me with multiple red ranks in which I stand no chance.

  • @ringwinning said:

Honestly same. I don't feel like demeaning myself by going over to the exit gates to watch the survivors teabag. I don't go in the basement but just the middle of the map.

A lot of people on here, including me, aren't toxic at the end in the gate. I tend to nod at the killer if they seem respectful, but that's not reciprocated 99% of the time.

I understand it's definitely not everyone. I don't do it myself either. It just feels like it when you play killer. All it takes is one surv tbagging at the end to sour the match.

  • I'm apparently a bit masochistic, so I've also been playing some games through the performance agony (ps4). On top of that, I've been trying to learn two new killers I just bought a little while back. Same thing, constant small stutters in framerate and complete freezes when trying to load a special power. Most of my pyramid head trails are just wild guesses because the game freezes so much when charging it I don't have time to actually aim.

And god forbid if someone used dead hard...

Sometimes it gets so bad the audio starts bugging out too, flickering on and off like an auditory seizure. Its really bad. Even worse than the lag switching issues from back in the day.

  • I've never liked SB. I like to run freely when I choose, so I always wasted it.

I hate DH now because my game completely freezes and I'm thrown into a random part of the map whenever someone uses it (thanks BHVR).

  • What's the RPD map?

...seriously, what is it? I played dbd for multiple days when the Resi Evil chapter dropped, and I've been playing daily during the anniversary event, and I've never gotten this map. Not once.

I'm starting to think you all are mass hallucinating or something, and the RPD map isn't actually real.

  • I never liked the "just do bones" counterargument because, yes, survivors should cleanse totems, but jesus, on newer maps some of them are REALLY hard to find. Even with Small Games I've run in circles on maps like Dead Dawg looking for a single totem inside a barrel hidden by a thicket.

What's funny is you can see how many totems total are cleansed per game with SG, and on maps like Dead Dawg or Midwich, it's almost consistently 2-3. I think people just can't find them anymore.

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Someone said it before, but I also think that they had something really cool event planned this time but something went wrong or it had some big issues so they just copy-paste last year event instead

    oops...

Can't wait to wait another year and see if it actually works properly...

  • So like, is RCPD actually active right now? Because I've still never played on it, and the offering says it's retired...

  • Killers technically aren't entitled to letting survivors get a lot of points, no, but all my games as survivor have had a lot sweatier/scummier killers who are trying SO HARD to 4K, even if the team isn't genrushing. I had a long game against a Nemesis where it took us ages to get all gens done, and he literally watched me pick up the crown earlier in the match, so he knew I was trying to survive so I could keep it, and instead he spent 3 minutes gunning me down after the exit gate was opened even though there were other people on death hook slugged on the ground (it was the game map, and I super suck at finding the exit gates for some reason. Found the closed one, but not the opened). Once he downed me he proceeded to hook me and then punch me repeatedly until I was dead.

I just wanted the stupid crown cosmetic. Sorry that was too much to ask.

  • @Milo said:

    Did it bug again?

Or were you playing with a licensed character.

It bugged. Was playing Feng Min.

  • People don't like playing against twins?

    Correction: people play against twins?

    ...

Since their chapter dropped, I've gotten the Twins 3, count em, THREE times.

Each time has been a blast, but jesus, NOBODY plays twins.

Sucks a killer no one plays it getting shadow-nerfed. I'm desperate for more Twins games.

I don't think you have to put the blades down to trigger Main Event, just press left control while you have them up (and Main Event is charged) and it'll activate.

I will check it again, but when I tried it the option to activate didn't work until I put down normal knives. I play on ps4, so idk if that changes anything.

I would just buy the killers that you want. Survivors aren't really worth it unless you only play survivor

I used to think that too, but since I do play survivor significantly more I figured it wouldn't hurt to pick up a couple new ones.

Ok well...You can grind out trickster and spirit for free. So that leaves demo and Freddy. They're both strong and it all depends on what you want.

Freddy - Has a teleport from gen to gen. Snares that help end loops. And you can use pallets over snares. And it's hilarious seeing survivors loop you around a fake pallet just to get merked

Demo - Has a slightly worse teleport. But you can place them wherever you want. Has a shred that breaks pallets fast. Crazy zoning because of the shred. The shred helps you get hits you wouldn't otherwise

Already got them all, but thank you!

Clown go better but still insnt that great compared to others. His perks are awesome tho.

(As far as i know Clown is bugged right now and his power doesnt work)

Oof, that's a bummer. Hope he gets fixed soon.

Leatherface for the teachable bbq and chilli. It makes the blood point grind bearable. Survivor side I would say stranger things for Nancy and steve. 2 for the price of one.

Already got Nancy and Steve, and BBQ from the shrine, so I'm good to go!

  • @kucerka said:

Yeah Doctor and Hag packs come along with the console version 😊. I'd suggest maybe Curtain call (Kate and Clown pack) cause Clown is quite easy to play as, especially if you're not used to playing the killer role that much and he has a some good perks as well.

Although if you prefer playing as survivor I'd say you already have characters with good perks so you can go just with a character you like visually...maybe Felix if you like playing as male survivors? He's been my favorite for some time so yeaha chapter that includes him (forgot the name) isn't a bad choice.

I personally don't like playing against the clown very much, so I'm not sure I would like playing as him either. As for Kate, I already have two of her perks bought from the shrine (dance with me, boil over), so I feel like it's not worth it to buy her. Same with detective tapp, who I wanted to buy and then realized I already have two of his perks from the shine, so now I'm reconsidering. I feel like it's more worth the money to pick a survivor with three completley new perks to use.

I will take a look at Felix though! Desperate measures in particular looks like it could be super handy in matches where players are constantly injured. My main surv is Feng Min, but I cycle through all of them pretty often now, so there's no gender preference.

Edit: Ooh, but that Pop perk on Clown. I missed that when it was in shrine, and I really want it... Also, I haven't really gotten any matches since the Clown's major rework, so maybe he's better now than he used to be?

    Alright, another list!

Michael or Ghostface (I would go for Michael because he got funny Builds but its also fun to Meme with Ghostface, also he is a bit stronger imo)

Pyramid Head or Deathslinger (Hard to tell which one i would choose.. I love both!)

Blight or Oni (I would go for Blight)

    And Cheryl or Yui

Awesome, so here's what I'm thinking:

I was thinking of picking up Ghostface bc I wanted a stealth driven killer, and it seems like a lot of people really like his perks on him and other killers.

I did try Mike a while back before they retired splinters, and he was kind of fun, but I didn't get to try him enough before they were gone to make a full decision, so he was also a maybe.

I was looking at Pyramid head too for a different style ranged killer. His torment thing seems kind of fun to mess with.

Deathslinger is gonna be a no for me though, since I play on console and I'm pretty bad at FPS controls in general. Blight is prolly also out too for similar reasons.

I kinda like Yui's perks, I think I'll look at her again. Cheryl's persk seems weird, and I don't think I fully understand how some of them work, like soul guard. Would you say she is pretty strong with her default perks?

  • I'm going to risk playing devil's advocate a little bit. As someone with past experience at a VR studio, the process of making games always devolves into chaos and messy code and unoptimized work, and it can be very difficult and time consuming to bounce back from that. It is ESPECIALLY hard to program and balance a multiplayer game with as many characters as DBD, as any small choice in tweaking a perk or a killer power can throw dozens of other things out of balance, which then need to be fixed, which then throws more stuff out of balance, which then-

    And it snowballs HARD.

I'm not excusing some of the more serious problems. Like this latest update, which definitely wasn't ready. I get tons of lag, freezes, graphical tearing, you name it. It's easily the most unplayable the game has been for me in three years. This update should have been delayed. HOWEVER, it's possible Behavior didn't have a choice: Licensed characters function differently, as they are communicating with other studios who have ownership over the characters. It's possible Behavior were given a deadline that they could not change, and even if they tried their hardest, there was too many problems for them to fix before launch day. Nemesis does seem to be the most complicated killer to have joined the game, what with the AI zombies and the additional healing items. In terms of programming, that team would have had to write a "brain" from scratch for the zombies to work, since the game had no AI beforehand (no, the tutorial bots don't count), and anyone who knows anything about programming can tell you that writing AI is possibly the most difficult thing to do for a game, second to server programming. Guess what? DBD has that too; it's pretty much built on server programming since it's completely multiplayer.

Honestly, I think the only way a lot of the game's problems are going to get fixed is if Behavior slows or stops their roadmap. Stop releasing new chapters for a while, maybe for at least a year. That way they can hunker down and try their best to polish what they have, as well as take in more community feedback and actually respond to it. Problem is, people will definitely start to complain about "lack of content" if they choose to do that. But even with hundreds of employees, they have too much on their plate. And trying to keep hundreds of employees on the same page at all times also slows development. That's really hard to do. I worked with a team of 30 and it was hard to keep everyone on the same page sometimes.

I think they need more tech artists and engineers too. The new maps look great, but they can definitely use some optimization. The game takes way longer to load than it used to aside from framerate issues and others, and that kind of comes with the territory of revamping and raising the quality of art assets. I know there are ways to optimize those kinds of things (see Insomniac's "Spider-man"), but I'm no tech artist so I can't give specifics.

  • @Ruma said:

Spirit, Demogorgon, Steve and Ash or Nancy.

Haha, I already gotchu. Haven't tried Demo yet, but Spirit is my fave killer and Steve is now my fave survivor. Great choices!

  • Can't even get past the main title screen right now without getting this specific error:

"In order to access this content, a network connection is required."

I've checked my internet, connection is great, and I checked another network required game and it worked fine, so it must be DBD servers specifically.

I'm sure devs have been notified by now, but just in case they aren't I'm posting this notice.

Ohhh, ok got it. Seems kind of dumb that you only have a few seconds to use it or it's just gone. Especially since it takes so many knives to charge it up.

Thanks a bunch everybody, I'll try again tomorrow and see if I can use it properly.

I get dc's here and there when I play killer and down someone in the first 30 seconds of a match. Not all the time but sometimes. I've only DC'd once in the past year and it was against a Spirit who 3k'd the entire team and then chased me, couldn't find me (lost them) then finally caught me while trying to rescue someone before proceeding to stand over my body until I was about to bleed out while nodding the entire time as if she was somehow skilled. This is Rank 1, by the way. She also had NOED, Stridor, Rancor and POP. I just wasn't going to deal with it.

That is super annoying, I'll agree with you. I hate just getting stuck there waiting out the bleed timer. Had a similar thing with a killer yesterday who chased me for at least 3 minutes, whiffing his attacks a bunch of times before finally catching me, then proceeded to sit there nodding and attacking me repeatedly on the hook. Didn't DC but I could at least kill myself pretty quick since he did hook me.

  • That I don't know for sure. They were wearing one of the colored wigs and jackets, I think. There's a few characters with cosmetics like that, so I'm not super sure who it was.

Why, was it you? Bc that would be kind of funny, honestly. I'm not actually mad, though I was bummed out bc I was trying to complete a "hook the obsession challenge" and they/you dc'ed before I could even get one.

  • @Mekochi said:

I really wanted to DC in a match the other day but held my ground, but I understand what you mean.

In my case two of my teammates were playing super altruistic, and then one was just bad at running the Bubba. So because I didn't wanna be by myself on gens, I started getting my teammates unhooked (so they don't go to second phase on first as well) only for myself to get hooked. Waited a bit, they all healed, then they swarmed hook got me, Bubba swung chainsaw and they got hooked, again. So I was getting to the point I wanted to D/C cuz of the amount of altruism.

I am glad I didn't cuz I got out (everyone was dead and hatch was closed, also I knocked out two and a half gens by myself). It was close though, Bubba found me at exit gate and started revving his chainsaw, but in my luck it opened as he arrived and I got out.

The Bubba played well and I wanted to give a GG but he wasn't on Xbox.

I'll give you credit, I always want to DC against Bubba's bc they all suck to play against. Especially with teammates playing super altruistic.

  • @Gaffy said:

What do you mean I don't want to play against stridor spirit for 3/5 games? God I must be so entitled.

  • @justbecause said:

Was the pallet grab at red forest?

Yes, I think it was actually.

  • Sincerely,

A purple who wishes I was green.

Everyone is so sweaty here, it's making me uncomfortable.

  • I was super psyched to hear the pustula harvesting was coming back, and my main survivor Feng Min got a beautiful macabre dress cosmetic.

Then I was super disappointed to find out you can only harvest pustulas with specific active challenges, and the serum currency is gone so I can't get Feng's dress by participating in the event :(

  • Almost every match against Myers feels wholesome to be, because so many people who play him seem to play the most kindly. I think a majority of games where the killer gives me the hatch willingly is a Myers. It's like they respect the hustle and don't play just to 4k.

There was a great moment a while back, when the infamous hill glitch was at its peak. Pretty straightforward game against a Myers when he hooked me next to the hill. A gen was behind the hill, and two teammates were working on it. One stops, starts walking towards me, then just freezes. I start to get super mad they aren't saving me until I realize they got stuck and couldn't move. Then, being a dummy, when I was saved I tried to walk over to them to see if I could push them out or something.

    I got stuck too.

Myers found us both that way, stuck together in the stupid collision glitch. I expected death. To my surprise, he downed us both and then waited patiently for us to crawl out of the hill, for another teammate to get us both on our feet, and he even gave us a running start before resuming any chases!

    Nice guys, those Myers mains.

Identity V is a thing. In fact theyre even about to launched a mode that's 4v4. Each team has a Killer who's job is to kill the other team's king while each side also has two other survivors who are to run interference, be it by helping protect their king, or using their items/plain old sandbagging to help their hunter catch the other King.

Also survivors can decode (gens) and when a team has a total of 300% progress, they get a buff.

    Looks cool.

Do you have a link to this info? I haven't heard about this, it sounds really interesting though.

Ye traps can leave you without many options, always wondering whether you should vault, which direction to go....it´s so much fun if you´re the trapper though :P

For me it´s propably Freddy. I always underestimate his lunge due to his small size (yes I know it´s the same on every Killer except EW1 Myers, but the model suggests otherwise).

I don't hate playing against Freddy like a lot of people seem to, but for some reason his lunge ALWAYS feels like it has a way longer reach than other killers. I'm terrible at looping him bc of it.

Personally, I absolutely despise Bubba. I hate his counterplay, his chainsaw always seems to have a cooldown of less than half a second, and after nearly three years of this game I can still practically count on one hand the number of Bubba killers I've played against that weren't toxic a-holes.

I also don't really like Plague either. It completely negates healing for the whole match, which can waste a good medkit or halt a healing challenge if you are unlucky, and I just don't like her vomit mechanics.

  • @Xbob42 said:

I think they're great. They sound like generators now and not... whatever they were before.

I love most of them too! Just not the weird engine revving one that was just added bc it downs out all the others so I can't hear them anymore :(

  • @BabyDweetMain said:

The revving scared the ######### out of me today. I'm usually paranoid in the beginning of the match before I know who the killer is cause I'm afraid is feeding fat ass Michael and Ghostface that juicy stalk stalk, but today I heard the revving for the first time and I hopped off gen thinking I was gonna get plowed by inbredface or hillbilly, it blew up cause badly timed skill checks, amiright? And then a doctor bonked me on the head.

    "Bonked me on the head."

I like that, that's really funny! Imma start using that too describe killer attacks just for fun.

  • You beat me to the punch by about 30 minutes. I JUST posted my own long-winded response on how the new gen sounds are too extreme.

  • This reminds me of when they made the ballroom dress cosmetic for Nurse and she looked gorgeous. I thought it was a fantastic cosmetic. She still was a bit spooky too, with the gaping hole from her missing heart. Great idea, would be cool to see more cosmetics like that for killers like Spirit and Huntress and Plague.

"You wouldn't have enough play time to complete the pass if all the challenges could be done in one game."

I mean that's true but you also don't have enough anyway? And 1 tier takes 10 fragments, 1 fragment takes between 2 and 3 games....that's a lot more than 2 hours a day. The pass takes between 200 and 250 hours to complete, how are you ok with this?

Yeah, 200 hours is a lot for any game, especially for only two months. And it's impossible for people who can't play every single day.

  • @Mooshroome64 said:

Agreed, this tome in particular has had alot of bland challenges which are gained over a large number of matches. Having said that, tome 2 did as well (almost all openers were get 5 emblems in certain categories iirc) so it's nothing new.

Level 3 this time had loads of annoying killer challenges and level 4 is kinda the same. Not a fan of scaling up challenges between levels like the co-op action challenge, it gets boring. The 'in one trial' challenges tend to be my favourite, and in this regard I would say this tome has not been too bad. Compared to tome 1's dark sense challenge and basement challenge, which I got really lucky for, these ones have been quite good. I actually enjoyed the Huntress one and I appreciate the change from 'get a 4k with the featured killers', to using their perks and getting a 3k + utilise their power. My main issues this level 4 are the legion 5 frenzy hits (There wasn't even a challenge for 4, which would still be difficult but easier) and also the Dwight challenge. Especially since Dwight's animations are bugged atm, playing him while ducking and dodging nearby combined with escape was not great.

Ugh, I HATED the "5 whatever emblems" ones. They are some of the most grindy, b/c as soon as you have a mediocre game you don't progress at all.

I agree, I like more of the master trials which have to be done in one game, so you either pass or you fail (aside from a couple that just feel ridiculously hard). I don't have the legion dlc, so I've been ignoring those challenges since I can't do them.

  • @Milo said:

Why does it need to exhaust you?

And wdym by "it works on Deliverance"?

I think they mean if you use deliverance to save yourself, it still activates and heals you.

  • Adding to original post: I think part of my issue is that I enjoy switching through the different challenges to change my playstyle from game to game. Helps keep you from falling into the same routine when you are prioritizing certain tasks. It just becomes a chore when you are stuck on a single challenge for a long time.

It may not be as annoying also if there were more branching paths, thereby giving you more options to choose which challenge to go for, and switch off if one isn't working out. But the nature of most tome levels is 2 main paths where you have to fully complete the previous challenge before you can try a different one, if that makes sense.

  • Damn, don't have the dlc for either of those, and haven't seen them in the shrine.

  • @53nation said:

I agree about feeling underwhelmed by some of these. I just got to book 3 and the first survivor challenge is "safely unhook 12 different people" ugh.

Kick a gen 50 times? Eh just kinda comes off as uncreative.

I'm slogging through that one in survivor games right now. Again, most games average 1-2 saves tops due to other survs gunning for saves, or the killer just not hooking that many people. Feels like it takes forever to move on to something else.

  • @KingFrost said:

I prefer the "Kick 50 generators/break pallets" to the "Hit 15 hatchets in ONE MATCH" tbh.

50 gens, you can get over the course of normal play. It's unlikely you won't make some progress in each match.

    @BlackRabies said:

For me it's the complete "X task" within a single match that I worry the most over depending what it is but thankfully only tome 1 had the worst of that kind. This tome isn't to bad.

And really kick 50 gens/pallets? That's basically a freebie a little time consuming maybe, but it isn't that hard at all. I got it done in like 3 or 4 games since I was just kicking everything with overcharge and pop.

I'll admit, I think the high number just caught me off guard when I was writing this. It's certainly not the worst challenge. I just feel like I flip between having pretty good games and really terrible ones, especially as killer since I'm not super good at killer. So then I get caught in a losing streak when I'm trying to sacrifice 12 different survivors and I'm averaging around 1, maybe 2 per game.
