This is not restricted to PS4. Its on all platforms and its so unfair to the newer players.
I can't imagine just starting this game out nowadays. Been playing off and on for a while now, and it seems way harder now, especially trying to learn killer.

Bruh, I feel your pain. This was my last game today. I have a good feeling at least a few of them were SWF too, as my discordance showed yellow gens for pretty much the whole game.

Played Doctor. Spent an entire match with the trolliest survivor. Spawned in with flashlight, instantaneously sought me out to spam me with flashlight clicks and noise notifications. They were a VERY good runner, which I caught onto pretty quickly, so I decided to purposefully ignore them.
Spent the next 20-25 minutes chasing down two other survivors while they slowly tried to whittle down gens, the whole time troll survivor is following me spamming their flashlight to try and confuse me and repeatedly jumping through windows as soon as I started a chase withe someone else. After about 15 minutes, I figure the last survivor must not have loaded in, b/c at this point I'm chasing the other two in circles, and no gens are popping.
Slowly but surely I wear out the troll's flashlight. Then I sacrifice the other two survivors. At this point I lose track of them for a bit, and the last gen manages to pop. Then I spend damn near 10 minutes chasing the troll when they run in front of me again. I finally manage to down them, right next to the basement too, and so I hook them down there where they proceed to kill themselves instantaneously.
I relax a bit, feeling relatively victorious for having managed to actually deal with these survivors for so long and then win. With nothing else to do (since the game still registered the lasr survivor as in the game, even though I never saw them) I started running toward the door.
Imagine my shock when I arrive to see the fourth survivor opening the door and escaping.
Like, what!? Idk if they just spawned in late and managed to survive, or if they just camped out doing nothing until I took care of everyone else or what, because there was a solid 10-15 minutes I was completely focused on chasing the other survivors in circles, and not a single gen was completed in that huge block of time. The weirdest part? They were like rank 5, AND they got out with around 23K.
Surprisingly, most of the time I get really frustrated with trolly survivors, but this one was so desperate for my attention the whole time, it was actually really goofy seeing them try and get me to even look at them. I was practically laughing for half the round they were so funny.
Tl, dr: A hilarious attempt at severe trolling ended up being funny since they just followed me around like a puppy the whole match until I finally managed to kill them & 2 teammates. Then the 4th survivor who I initially thought never spawned in & seemed to accomplish nothing for the entire game escaped with tons of bloodpoints somehow.

Update: It happened again. I'm not sure whether this any better; I did sacrifice them all, but it honestly felt like I got lucky.

Matchmaking on PS4 is a mess. At rank 1 I was in a match with a rank 19 killer earlier, can't remember the other survivors ranks exactly (mix of green and purple I'm pretty sure) The killer ended up disconnecting and I don't blame them.
Yeah, it's weird. On the flipside, I fluctuate between a purple/green rank survivor, and I almost always get lower rank brown killers that are clearly new to the game, or new to the killer they are playing. It's very strange.

I don't really care if he's "strong" or "weak," he's just fun as hell to play against because his mechanics are so different to the core gameplay. It's a little treat whenever I'm matched against the Deathslinger, and I have a ball being chased by him just to see if he can shoot me or not.
He's different, he's fun, and I don't care about always winning, so I find a lot of enjoyment in Deathslinger matches.

I played for nearly 4 hours yesterday, and I completed ONE challenge: Safely save 12 people from hooks. Matchmaking on PS4 has been very poor lately, and I kept getting matched with low rank, incredibly campy and tunneling killers that actively prevented me from getting more than one save per match. The number of rift fragments for completing a challenge that took me 4 hours?
3. 3 rift fragments.
I'm barely scraping level 25 in the rift even though I'm nearly at the end of tome 3. And while I did skip some challenges (that I don't have the DLC to do) it feels like it is way too difficult to progress through the rift.

I'm sure there's different teams for those, they're being worked on at the same time.
You are absolutely right, the programming team that works on backend matchmaking is completely different from the art team that works on cosmetics and characters/maps for new chapters.

Yes, matchmaking is a mess but at least you got 4x bps :)
Haha, yeah, it's too bad I only got a mediocre base score, so the multiplier was pretty high, but not astronomical. Imagine if I had made 25k. That would have been wild.

I wait about 2 minutes max as Killer. When I go to Survivor it takes so long I go back to Killer. The rituals are not worth the wait. I don't think there is enough killers, I am getting matched up against 8-10's as a 17 killer.
I'm thinking that might be the case too. I don't mind waiting 3-5 minutes for a game, that's pretty typical, I just feel like I'm wasting so much time sitting around for upwards of 20 minutes just to connect to a single killer. Maybe I've just been really unlucky for the past couple weeks.

Killer waiting time is about 10 seconds :)
Oof, wow. Must be something weird with survivors then. Or simply not enough killers available.

How long are your killer queues?
I haven't checked, to be honest. I try playing killer from time to time, but I don't find it as fun b/c it's a bit too competitive for me.

What if it was a generator repair speed modifier based on proximity to a closest non-repaired gen? Say, each gen has a 128-meter radius, inside which all unrepaired gens get a repair speed boost, nonlinearly scaling with the distance. So, at 24 meters it's 250% faster, 150% faster at 76, 105% at full distance. And then we adjust base gen speeds so that new 200% is solo 80 seconds. That way the longer it takes killer to effectively patrol the gens the longer it takes to complete them. Also, on survivor side it makes 3-gen situations somewhat more bearable, while also making 3-gen avoidance strats more laborious.
This might be possible? I feel like it would require more work though, could be easily exploited by highly coordinated survivors. On the other hand, the 3-gen scenario is a bit rough rn, and something to alleviate that would be nice as well.

Large maps like red forest should have 9 gens on the map with 7 to complete. Ruin will no longer be a factor so I think it's time to start working toward balancing gen speed on bigger, safer maps.
That could also work, as it's adding time, just in a different way.

The perk combines really well with Surveillance. This is a lot of information already.
I played a match of killer with it a while ago. The new ruin is fine imo (I'm Rank 4). I got a 3k with Legion on the reworked Lery's
I might hop on my smurf to see how it handles the higher/mid high ranks.
I play mid-midhigh survivor most of the time, and I think the change to ruin sounds interesting, definitely more fun for the survivors, and I like the idea of "waiting for the right moment" to cleanse the totem. But, I was thinking this under the assumption I would no longer be notified that Ruin is even in play. I feel like that makes it too easy.
Also, I know the devs don't want to alienate newcomers, but when I play with lower ranks I hardly ever see Ruin b/c most killers don't have it unlocked yet, so I don't feel like that's a huge issue for them.

@RuneStarr said:
Survivors get the cursed notification when they let go of a gen and it starts regressing, so all it takes is tapping a gen at the start and bam you know... or just spawn into the match halfway through cleansing the totem like usual.
If they actually hid the cursed notification since they refuse to make it a non-hex perk, it would help but we all know that won't happen. (make me eat my words devs, please)
Yeah, that's a bummer. I feel like the perk would be much stronger if survivors didn't get a notification, that way the hex has a chance to last to late game. Plus, I feel like survivors don't need to know about the hex anyways; even with the faster regression, hovering around the same gen or two while the killer is distracted will still negate the effects.

I guess I missed that part of the update. I don't have access to PTB, so I just read the blog post. I assumed the gens had no visible tell when Ruin was in play. I feel like it shouldn't have a tell.

its 80 secs per a gen so yeah...
Wow, I wasn't even close with my number. I'll try and change that, my bad.
