  • I mainly play Wraith, I do best with him with my limited abilities.

  • I am a newer killer but this is what I have been running as Wraith killer. Curious on what the more skilled killers run.

BBQ- For BP's, the aura reading doesn't work on smarter survivors.

A Nurse's Calling - Probably my favorite because it allows me to give up a long chase after I hit them once and come back and find them while they are healing.

Sloppy Butcher - Great with Nurse's Calling

Brutal Strength - This is what I am running right now to break those pallets and gen's faster. I have also played with Shadowborn and Bloodhound, but as I have improved those are not as needed anymore.

  • I am new to game and play killer, and it is fun at first but the further up you move the more toxic survivors you run into. Getting mismatches with players way more skilled than me and then just getting played with all game by survivors looking to embarrass the killer is not fun. I have noticed I have not been playing as much because of that.

Removing the toxicity would go a long way. How? Make the killer the power role like they should be. Survivors should be scared of the killer, not the other way around.

And thank goodness I play on console and can't get abused with the chat afterwords. That just gets ridiculous.

  • It would put the killer back in the power role again, and make survivors scared of the killer for once.

  • I was willing to spend the $5 to cut down the grind, the Aura reading hardly helps me during the game, it is worth it for the BP's.

  • I would vote this worst map for me. I have such a hard time chasing people here with Wraith. I hate having 2 levels to try to find them. And worst is this seems to be the map I get most often. I don't play a lot but this weekend played 9 games and 4 of them were The Game, one time back to back. Made me want to DC, but stuck it out and got destroyed by survivors.

  • Wraith, it is so fun sneaking up on unsuspecting survivors. For the rare moments it happens it is fun watching them run and not know where you are. I don't do well with him often, but when I do it is so fun.

  • Match Making for sure. I am a month old killer and game was a blast as I was rank 20-17 with some good match up as I learned and improved.. Then once I hit 16 I started playing almost all games against Purples, sometimes Red's even and now game is not as fun, they last as little as 5 minutes and I end many games with no kills.

  • This would be helpful on slowing gens down, and as a not very good killer I would appreciate it.

  • A win as a killer is when I don't de-pip, get lot's of BP's and have fun with good chases.

As survivor a win is if we all escape.

  • I play 95% killer. Only play Survivor in a SWF group with my kids about once a month for a couple hours. One reason I play Killer when I solo is because the queue times are so long for me on PS4 as survivor. Also because when you get a good match Killer is so fun, it is 30/70 if I get a good match or not though.

I would actually leave gen speed the same, but make the skill checks a lot harder. Only more difficult skill checks for red and purple ranks though. I would leave speed alone for new players, but needs to be a progressive difficulty on completing gens.

This makes sense, when I first started playing survivor, I would miss skill checks all the time, now when I play Survivor (I mostly play killer) I don't miss that many of them. I can't imagine how easy skill checks are for people that play all the time and our in red and purple ranks.

  • Personally they are two fast for me. I play Wraith (I just love sneaking up on survivors when I find them) and I am a new and not a very good Killer getting matched with players 8 ranks in front of me, so that doesn't help. But if I get a bad map, or start in a bad spot and can't find anyone to get a chase started, it sucks. Had a game last night that lasted 5 minutes at most. And this was with me trying to chase a couple times. Never was able to pressure and slow down gens and they were popping them off left and right, even with 3 people working on them. Game was zero fun.

On the flip side though, I had a great match the other night (they were only 7 ranks higher, haha) were 3 gens were very near each other and it was by basement so made for a great 3 gen strat. So I was able to keep them off them and slow them down a bit on the other gens without giving up those 3. By the time they had 4 gens done I had eliminated 1 player, and almost another. Had a blast for about 10 minutes of cat and mouse with the last 3 gens. I ended up getting a 4k (which rarely happens) and had so much fun.

So if I get the right gen setup, and am not over matched by survivors, then they are fine, but more times than not the gens are too fast for me.

  • Dodged my very first lobby night because of this. I was all excited to sit down and have a fun game, load up and there is a group of four survivors all with toolboxes. Yeah, no thank you. I already struggle as it is(I am not very good), no way I am wasting 5-10 minutes of my night against survivors who are probably already 8 ranks in front of me as it is thanks to MM and lack of killers. Left lobby, and had new game in less than 30 seconds.

I have done multiple games against 3 tb, (not fun, but I tried) but 4 is my breaking point, with the current gen speeds zero chance I will ever play against 4.

Oh no I’m a rank five killer 😅 Sorry you get paired up with skilled players

Just figured it was another killer complaining about MM 🤣, because it is so broken. My average rank difference lately as been about 8. Rarely get game with like ranked survivors.

  • I wouldn't like it, I don't use NOED a lot, trying to get kills without it,but when I do I like that it is a risk vs reward on if they do totems or not. 50/50 if I will have it at end of game. Makes for some interesting end games.

  • Hey you did alright, when I get those matches (I am also a 16 killer) I get like 10000 bp.

  • Hag, I just don't get how to use her, and I can't hit anyone with her traps.

  • Weird and interesting, I would assume consoles higher SWF rate. I wonder if that has changed as game as gotten older and these stats misleading now.

You can sort of tell from the Lobby. If 2 or 3 come in at the exact same time, it's usually a SWF team, but not always. Could just be solos entered at the same time

That is what I thought, didn't know if more concrete way to tell. I am assuming when I load in and all four are ready to go with 3 tool boxes and a key before I get there, that they are SWF and it will be a long game for me.

Basically if the killer gets destroyed it MUST be SWF. I have been accused of being SWF loads of times when playing solo. They just assume it is always SWF and that is why they got beaten.

Just try not to dwell on whether the survivors you are facing are in a group or not. Just enjoy your game. Otherwise you will end up a bitter, twisted killer main.

Yeah, I just play for fun, do three or four games a night before bed. Just curious on how people can tell if they are SWF.

I am not good and get destroyed a lot, so I guess I must be facing lots of SWF. 😀 Actually MM has been terrible, playing against groups 7 to 9 ranks higher.....but that is an issue for a different discussion that gets mentioned once or twice a day.

  • 1/5th? For me it is 2/5th or 3/5th.

I will say though, I have been starting to let the furthest gens go, and protect 3 or 4 near me, and even though I lose 2 or 3 gens earlier, I have been able to slow the game way down once they go for those last 2 gens. If I was a better killer I would probably get more kills, but this as made the game a little more fun for me.

  • Just so I didn't come across as toxic, I have been leaving the hooked survivor and go chase other survivors at the exit, of course I get no one and all 4 escape (I am not very good, haha). I may need to start camping during end game, because you are right, there is nothing else to do but watch them leave.

  • How do you know you are facing a SWF? I have only been playing killer for about a month)PS4), and sometimes I can tell when I am by how they are playing, but how else does everyone know they are playing with/against SWF?

  • I always will go for the unhooker in that instant. Like how dumb are you, I am right here. Sometimes I will accidentally hit the hooked survivor in my zest to get the unhooker. When that happens, especially in early game, I will let someone come over and heal the slugged survivor. Now once they are back up, game is back on.

But you also did nothing wrong. They are the weaker survivor, so taken them out was the most optimal kill at that time.

  • Thank you for doing this. I am a yellow killer who is getting sucked down into Purple, and the occasional red ranks and it is not fun. I know I am not good, I play to have a good time, I don't need to be a red rank, I just want some good games. Hard to do when you are extremely over matched. I have had a couple matches where survivors have let me kill them, which is always nice. Flip side though I have had matches with 3 toolboxes and they last less than 5 minutes without a hook.

I don't know if the MMR is going to fix this issue. We just won't know the level of who we are playing.......

  • Yes the MM is so broken, played 4 games last night, I am a yellow killer and the average rank difference between me and the survivors was, 9, 5, 7, 8. Now me not being a good killer compounds this to not fun games as a killer.

My last game I did 4k, but that was because one guy DC's as soon as I uncloak(playing Wraith). Hit him once and then let him run. He DC'd right after, which was weird, I never downed him. Then one of the other survivor just wasn't very good. Literally ran into me (I was uncloaked) while they were injured. Twice. So there ended up being 2 survivors left with 4 gens left. I might have played it harder than I needed to, because like someone previously said, frustration gets taken out on the wrong people. I had 1 kill and my previously 3 games, with one of the games to be less than 5 minutes (they had 3 tool boxes going in) I did try to slow down and practice my chasing with the last 2 survivors, but in the end that probably wasn't fun for the survivors.

The balance is so far off right now that rarely do both sides have fun.

  • As a newbie killer playing against way better survivors, yes they are way too fast. Some games 2 or 3 pop before I even get my first chase in. But when I play against survivors equal to me I would say the gens are good.

Do like me and block messages from non friends. Then, equip noed and play until you are better. I didnt use noed for years because I was playing by the survivor handbook. With the ruin change I pulled out the rest of the tools including noed. Much happier now

What got me playing the game was my 2 sons were playing and we were looking for something for us all to play. So I have been playing SWF for about 9 months, very casually, only a couple times a month. Because of my experience as survivor (and lack of skill) I tend to also follow the survivor handbook. I bet your right, I need to throw that out the window when I am being over matched.

  • Love Playing as

Wraith (I love sneaking up on people

Leatherface (I do okay with him)

Trapper (Just because this is only other killer I have success with so far)

Hate Playing as, all because I suck with them

    Hag

    Huntress

    Nurse

    When I play survivor

    Love to face

Myers (I love the Halloween movies)

    Clown

    Trapper

    Hate to face

Myers (I am not good at avoiding him)

    Ghostface

Wraith ( I do bad against stealth killers)

  • Yeah it is a problem, I got up to rank 14, and I faced 2 games of red ranks, I have depip (not even on purpose, terrible mm) and at 16 I am now seeing ton of purple survivors. It isn't even fun. I play to have fun, and I know I am not good, but going against those type of survivors is sucking all the fun out of it.

That’s exactly why I blocked off people who aren’t on my friends list to send me messages. Sure I get the rare persistent guy who tries to add me JUST to send a hateful message but at that point it’s more funny they went out of their way to request me and be petty lol

Ha, I thought I had that on, but I didn't. Just turned that on so tonight when facing purples at least the hate messages will not come in.

  • Yeah, I literally was thanking the same thing last night. I am or was rank 15 killer (ps4). And I know I am not good, but play for fun. First game I played 2 5's and 2 6's. Zero kills. Second game 2 6's, and 8 and 17. one kill (the 17 he was on pare with my skill)Third game 2 6's, 7 and a 8. Zero kills. Fell back to rank 16, and then was still facing 8-10 ranks.........if that keeps happening I will move on to another game. The point is to have fun and that is not happening when the mm is placing low level killers against significantly higher ranks. throw in swf (not all are bad) and killer can just not be fun.

Its amazing to me how many sensitive players spend their time playing a game where the objective is to viciously murder people.

Oh, I am not sensitive at all. Just curious on why someone would take the extra time to reach out and harass someone even more. I play on console, there are extra steps involved to actually message someone. It is just frustrating, I know I am not good, but I am getting matched up against survivors I can't beat, then the messages are that little extra kick to make game not as fun.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Lol gg isn't that toxic, just send gg and be on your way.

It is not, but being new, and being over matched, why bother sending the message in the first place? They can see that they were ranked way higher than than me. Why even send it other than to get a response. I just delete message and move on,

  • Yikes, that is rough. I think it is more a lack of Killers than anything else right now. I am at rank 15 and keep facing purple ranks. It is making me a better Killer that is for sure.

  • It is a mess. I am a yellow rank killer(and improving) going against purple ranks all day long. Surprisingly some games(not all, sometimes I straight up get murdered by the survivors) I can easily get 2 or 3 of the survivors. It seems to me that the Survivors are ranking too easy. Causing some real bad match ups.

  • When I play as Survivor, Huntress is my favorite, just because that darn lullaby scares the crap out of me. Second is Myers, for the scare factor. As far as being able to beat, I feel I do well against, Trapper.

There's a thumbs up button on consoles, but I'm not sure it actually does anything. It'd be nice if we had a few button options. Like:

    Survivor to Survivors:

    Thanks for the Save!

    Thanks for healing me!

    Good Game!

    Survivor To Killers:

    Congrats!

    Good Game!

    Better Luck next time!

Sorry my teammates teabagged you (okay probably not this one, but I so want to apologize to killers when my teammates teabag them. Its so uncalled for)

    Killer to Survivors:

    Good Game!

    That was Rough!

    Better Luck next time!

    Almost had you!

This would be perfect. I play PS4 and it is just too much work to message someone after the game to say something. I always rate players after game though, good or bad.....

  • I get stuck playing Cornfield the most, and do all right on it with Wraith, but the new Lery's is the map I tend to get the most kills/keep the most pressure on. Had a game last for 30 minutes there the other night thanks to a 3 gen strat(they didn't find the 3rd gen for awhile so that made it easier, haha) and an awesome cat and mouse game. Was one of the funniest games I have played.

  • @AsePlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/125188/why-is-green-ranks-so-toxic

It only gets worse from here. Potato purple and red ranks who got carried by the system are just as toxic if not more. They think they're better than they actually are lol.

For me the purple have been the worse. Once I got to yellow/green (i keep bouncing, haha) the wonderful matchmaking system has me playing against purple all the time. Teabagging, bodyblocking, flashlighting at the pallets. So much fun. Sabotaging all the hooks so when you do get them down you can't hook them, and I don't like to slug because as a survivor that sucks. EDIT: the guy doing the sabotaging that game did nothing else at all but watch me, sabotage hooks and flashlight me the soon as I got someone. It was one of the worst games I ever played and first time I considered DC'ing myself.

  • One of my biggest pet peeves with this game. I hate when people DC, especially when you are going to hook them for the third time without camping, or tunneling them. Happens about every 4 or 5 games for me. As a Killer I don't DC when they pop the 5th generator.

  • I started playing this game with my 2 sons and my oldest's girlfriend(they are all adults). Anyways, we would play a couple times a month, never seriously, but I didn't realize the advantage we had when my kids would warn me about the killer (I was real bad, hahaha).

I recently started playing killer on my own, and there is such an advantage to SWF. Just this week I have had 2 matches where I didn't even knock down a player, I never saw them. Now I am not that good, but I usually can at least 1k every game, and for sure knock someone down, but I never saw anyone, or scratches. It was like they were invisible. The one match last night had some buildings with high points and as I was walking around trying to figure out where everyone was I noticed someone standing on one of the high points watching me. When I went to get them, they ran and when I looked back someone else had taken their spot........since I never DC because I hate when survivors do it to me, I just went into a corner of the map, and played on my phone until the game was done.

It is such a huge advantage to the survivor, how to combat it I don't know. While I play with my kids we are usually talking about life and not the game, and I get that is why some people play is to have fun with their friends, but something should be granted to the killer to offset the SWF. I do like the suggestion of a number above their head showing who they are playing with.

It is zero fun when you are getting bullied as killer.

  • That was main reason I moved to killer (had no idea how much fun it actually is) but I never wait. Usually what happens (especially when new, I just started about 3 weeks ago) you will always play survivors higher than you. Even now at 16 I am playing against sub 10's more than I am survivors in my rank range.

Is it possible you were trying to play during the patch they were running today? That would have caused delays.

  • I am on PS4 too. I main killer since I started a month ago matchmaking has been funny. I was a 20 going against 11's. Got myself down to 15-16, and I am playing sub 10's all the time. Pretty sure very few of them are SWF. Just keep at it, sometimes I am surprised that they are at those ranks, I am not that good and sometimes I am able to easily get them.

  • Last Night as LF I had 3 survivors downed all at once in the first minute (figure they were all new) and instead of leaving them and hunting for 4th guy I hooked them and then let them all get rescued. Ended up never downing anyone the rest of the game and lost big time. All because I showed some mercy.

  • For me it is Wraith. I have had moderate success with Leatherface. I like to rotate killers to play something different, but after a couple bad rounds I will go to Wraith and I will get way more kills with him. I know most people don't like him, but for some reason I am at my best when I play as him.

  • I use it just because of the BP bonuses, I don't think it has helped me hook anyone lately. No need to do anything to it.

  • It was great for me last night as a Killer. Played 3 games and 2 of them were there where I was able to 3k and 4k. I am not that good and am lucky when I 2k. haha

  • I am in the 2nd group. Of course I have only been playing hardcore for about a month, 6 months was causally with my kids. I play to have fun, and win or lose for the most part 90% of the time I have a great time.
