honestly terrible, I want it back
-
You can do whatever you want, but think about this:
You are rewarding BHVR with more money....for spending less money on the game and thus on us.
You are giving them money they otherwise might not have gotten for NOT spending money themselves (of which we know they have an obscene amount compared to other devs) to just continue the license.
its your wallet, your choice, just know what you are doing.

Because you don't need to know about it and it won't change the result: you can't buy Stranger things stuff after November 17.
thanks but you are not in a position to talk for the devs, it was not directed at you soooo yeah.
-
Were you born yesterday?
This is happening since day 1, smurf accounts have always been and will always be a thing, how do you think those "content creators" can make their compilation vids bullying new players?

The only answer we can give about "why" is answered on the FAQ.
ok....can you tell use WHY you cant give us more information? who is preventing this? do you guys have intel on future plans from Netflix or so that you are not allowed to share or what?

@DBDude said:
I would imagine if they do get the license back, it would take about 2-12 months to actually port it back into the game again in my opinion.
based on what?
I mean technically the only thing that will happen is that it will be no longer accessible via the store and a map will be disabled, like they do all the time to fix their many bugs so technically everything is still in the game and can be returned with the flick of a switch.
-
@Boss said:
Guess you'll have to make a choice then.
- Buy them now and risk spending lots of money for nothing.
- Suspect it'll be back later and not buy them now, but risk being wrong and losing out on soon-to-be exclusive cosmetics.
its more the idea that this could be another extremely anti userbase cash grab
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
There’s nothing saying they will reacquire the license.
I’m also pretty damn sure that, if they do, the vast majority will be happy to see it not going after all.
Exactly BUT there is also nothing saying they wont, remember the whole "we dont ban for glitch-mixing cosmetics" and then after people, happily knowing its allowed, bought so many cosmetics for serious cash....they lock that option.....
Just saying, not the best most consumer oriented track record so far.
@GoobyNugget said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/273432/imagine-if-when-they-get-the-license-back
well, even if they did that, it'd be a win no matter what, we get to keep one of the BEST chapters in the game, AND we get the characters on a 50% sale.
good to see you are in support of it, I look forward to a future that you condone where they pull this on all their licensed stuff, get a license, get a ton of cosmetics for 15 dollar each, claim to lose the license, watch people pay 100 dollars just to get the cosmetics before they are gone, then after a month just bring the license back and be thanked for it......
-
considering the immense amount of money they earn with this game vs the work/investment its pretty crazy to not just pony up the doe to keep the license, even if it means its not profitable, but just to make a stand, to stand behind your product.
Epic makes insane amounts of money with Fortnight? what do they do? give back, they make their engines free to use and up the price point to where they start asking a portion of the profit of a game made by it and they retroactively paid devs back that used their engine when the price point was lower.
Guess not every company can be like Epic when business is good.....
-
@Mandy said:
As we said in the FAQ, no the map will not remain in any form. It will be removed from rotation.
yeah we know what it said, this is a question about altering the map so as to not being related to ST anymore so it can stay in the game and all that work is not gone waste.
A way to circumvent the license

how so? it is all shot already and what better time to release a netflix show/season then when everyone is stuck at home?

Leatherface, Freddy, Michael, Ghostface, Pyramid head, Nemesis, and Pig, all killers that we have seen before the year 2000 (Nemesis almost being modern but is 1 year short, 1999) (And I don't count Demo given he's really not that iconic. For Stranger things? Yes, but not in a general sense like all the others, also he's in season 1 out of 4, can't really compare him)
There are so many slashers and creatures that have come out since 2000 that BHVR haven't even touched. My Bloody Valentine, The Mist, Dog Soldiers, Slither, A Quiet Place, Hollow Man, American Psycho, Purge, etc.
And don't forget the games like Dead Space, Fear, Amnesia, Siren, Fnaf, Evil Within, Outlast, etc.
Some of these might not be iconic to you, but they ARE iconic to others.
All these deserve some position in the "Horror Hall of Fame", and yet all we've seen is ancient history.
I mean you kinda hit the nail on the head, Demogorgon is from an all round appreciate series (Though the messed up with postponing the next season for so long) and yet its still hard to call it iconic.
but non of that run of the mill forgettable crap you mentioned is remotely "iconic" either, the reason thoese that we have are iconic is because of the quality and memorable qualitties, its hard and rare (and luck is needed) that something ever reaches that status and nothing you mentioned does.
Heck some of the examples you gave gives me a hard time in even taking you seriously: A Quiet Place? really? what a terrible crappy forgettable waste of time that was...jeez....and The Purge? you actually dare to entertain the idea that those are ANYWHERE close to the likes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Halloween or...well anything in dbd?
(also lets not forget that, regrettably, the freddy we got is from the terrible remake that people for good reason will forget ever existed, not the iconic original)
-
nah, I think the cusomisation will be extremelly limited.
Pinhead with prestige cosmetics
then a locked set skin for every cenobite for 15 dollars each....and sadly people will support that as well.....
-
The killer is not actually part of the match, he can wander around but not interact with survivors and they cant interact with the killer until a survivor chooses to open a puzzlebox, then its game on!

So people can't speculate by making threads about the killer they're hoping for? I don't get it.
yes but if every person makes a new thread flooding the forum, heck even multiple ones about the exact same thing, it just becomes spammy nonsense.
Now if BHVR build somthing into the forums that every thread containing Fnaf or Springtrap would just me merged into one, that would already make things better but right now it comes across as...well I mentioned it already, pushy, demanding/expecting that they want, entitled spoiled brats.
-
which is fine? the SBMM will adjust so you get matched up with killers more your skill, that is the entire point, just give it time.
And remember, every match you just gain stuff, you never lose stuff, you cannot go backwards.

Whiney Spammy new threads like these dont help your/their cause tbh, you hereby are participating in this "War" you imply should not exist, you could have just answered or replied to one of the many many many threads already but no, you made a new one....
I have no issue with Sidney Prescott or Frank West being added either, its just the entitled whiney spammy spoiled brads that keep replying with that request like a bot on every post that BHVR makes on twitter that makes me hate it and never want to see them, you cannot reward that behavior. and the same goes for this sadly.
(though in all honestly im not that passionate about it, I dont care either way, FNAF cannot be added though due to the creator's actions but I digress)

The same ESRB rated Halo M so I think ratings are joke tbh.
yeah they tend to rate things waaaay higher then what they should have, exactly halo is about as tame as they come and yet its rated mature yet FNAF is rated T for teen so that should speak volumes about its target audience.
-
@Gruul said:
I always thought that FNaF is just for kids when it seemed to be somewhat inspired by a real life mass shooting to be a really strange take.
Well it is rated T for teens so, that should tell you enough.
-
You cant come up with Likes vs Dislikes, I tend to not click dislike on anything anything (heck the brilliant youtube algorythm would actuall reward the video with more views because interaction, even negative, is better then no interaction).
heck you think that clickbait muppet you posted earlier will get anymore attention then he got by me simple going to the video's section on his youtube channel? because no, he wont.
I dont go and click on every video of his to leave a dislike, I just click it away and move on, infact I really have to see something amazing to bother giving anything a like.
So yeah any like to dislike ratio is not a valid measurement, more a "say something nice or dont say anything at all" type of deal.
-
Unrelated another terrible clickbait youtuber, great stuff..... yeah pls come up with content creators who are a bit more respectable....thought I will give you that, on this person the fans are very much in the FNAF court.

-
sorry but that poll does not say much, the question is who players think is going to be the next killer, its not which killer they actually want.
At this point is more about those silly hints on twitter and then speculating about what it is, again, not what they want.

Denying that its possible is not the same as bashing.

You can check yourself.
oh that is rich, try to claim that its a minority who is against the addition (even though that isnt the argument) and sight some make-believe poll to warrant the claim that there actually is demand but then not actually represent that data when asked for it.
come on man......I have like...like say like SOOO many polls of people saying they are against FNAF, like atleast 90% of the community voted against it in those polls of like 1 million votes and even MCotes said it wont happen....honestly...just uhh, just check youtube, its all there....

Yea but the same goes for the people moaning about it. It's always the same people saying fnaf isn't wanted, like you and the same names I see bashing it.
So just because you are loud about fnaf, doesn't mean its not wanted. Look at the polls on YouTube alone.
what polls? link me those polls,
apart form that it does not matter, I never claimed there were a lot of players bashing on fnaf, I merely say there is no proof so far that indicates anything of a large demand, just a handful of whiney spammy brads (again, see Sidney and Frank).
(also fyi I dont care either way if its added or not, I have nothing to do with that franchise, never played it or watched anyone play it so dont assume so much)
-
ok 1. it isnt, just because a handful of people are very vocal about it does not mean its "demanded", you might equally state that Sidney Prescot or Frank West are "demanded" because of some spamming twitter accounts.....
2 I dont think its even about FNAF itself, its more about getting swooped up in hype and wanting to announce to the world that you were correct and/or had influence on the choice, as soon as whatever they demand is added though there will be a brief period or glee and then it will be forgotten, replaced by the next thing to force out of the devs.
3 (not entirely related) due to recent developments its not even possible that fnaf gets added
-
pics or it did not happen
-
bit of a weird question considering it implies there is a defintion to winning or losing in this game, which there isnt.
-

Because it is nearly impossible for an automated system to detect player skill in this game.
flawed argument, its nearly impossible for us to even decide what skill is in this game.
but in the end it does not matter, you dont get proper consistent matches now, and you probably wont in the future....soo nothing changes so what is the problem.
-
Well...get used to it I guess?
As was been stated, Rank as it is and always has been has never been a measure of skill, so in the future and in the past you knew just as much to "judge your personal performance" so in that vein nothing changes.

I do, "we would like to but that would require work so, sorry we would really like to but nah""
-
The fact that I had to google who uncle frank was is I think telling enough.
Plus he just does not look unique, just a dude or more or less freddy but in a suit.
Pinhead and other Cenobites have a distinctive recognizable design.
I also see no reason to struggle with fitting this in the lore.... Beings from another dimension, Demons to some, Angels to others who bring suffering, seems like an ideal candidate for the Entity to swoop up for her trials.

Where did you see the info on rank rewards?
this was quite a while back, (The MMR has been in the works for a while now)
Not sure where this came from, if it was officially posted on the forum or something that was datamined (and if it was the later pls ignore it because we....are not allowed to talk about leaks....even though rank rewards have been promised officially)
but yeah there you see its suddenly on a per rank base in the high ranks and imo that should not be.

If you're really worried then just don't mention your reasons. Tunnel people however you like and just don't say why and you'll avoid being punished. It's almost impossible to to get people on harassment unless they admit it first since it requires multiple games and very specific targeting.
Also, it's only a video game and not much more is going to go into making a Declaration of Rules covering the do's and don'ts of every possible scenario.
Yeah I get that ,but then we go back alllll they way to the start of all of this, do whatever you want just dont mention why you did it the way you did it and its fine.
Though then we get into another layer of problems because survivors technically can bait a reaction out of you and you might react just to spite them with a remark that they will then report you for and get you banned even though you did nothing wrong but get annoyed with toxic survivors....

I don't It's just that I don't wanna be a high ranked killer 😂 Which I always end up as sadly.
then stop bringing add ons and run less meta perks and forgo tunneling and camping entirely, if you already do all of those things you should pick up streaming, im sure you could make decent money doing that.

Just pointing out that the point of the game is to sacrifice and kill the Survivors. Its the Killer's objective. This isn't an Us vs Them so much as this is the point of the game. Rewarding the act of trying to catch and sacrifice? Sorry, most people don't like/straight up hate participation trophies. You either did your objective or didn't.
yeah that is the point of the game and im saying we should change hte point of the game.....then its not a participation trophy, it IS the trophy, we should reward fast chases and many different hooks over sacrificing (see it as a build in BBQ) and killing a single survivor by camping etc should barely be rewarded at all, its about changing the focus/requirements.
Again Im doing this more for the killer experience then survivor, you should read the original post again for the scenarios that are not fun for anyone involved,
Thats what im trying to change, the focus on getting a kill is what makes it so frustrating for again...everyone involved.
-
why do you care about rank.......

Personally, I am all for showing it in the Endgame Screen. I am very sure that many Killers will be surprised that they indeed beat SWFs and they will also lose the easy excuse of "Must have been an SWF".
However, I can totally understand BHVR on this, because it has a potential for toxicity. Some players tend to use "SWF player" in an insulting way, like that it is something illegal, something bad to play with friends. Everyone knows the feeling of playing Solo and getting ######### on by a Killer who thinks you are playing in a 4 man SWF, because for them it is impossible that they might lose to Solos.
So I guess this will also never happen.
that does not make sense to me, I mean by that logic the devs should not allow for you to see perks or add ons either because they carry just as much if not more weight then SWF.
And also its only because of the misconception that SWF could even be seen as an insult because some butthurt players think that that is the sole reason they lost, but being able to see if you faced SWF in the endscreen would dispell that notion over time.
-
@Crowman said:
I don't see how making less focused on killing be good for the game. People just need to stop taking getting removed from the game by the role whose job it is to remove you as personal attacks.

The new matchmaking system is embarrassing. We have no idea how it works and I personally am getting worse games than before. I am not the only one. You have way too much faith in BHVR.
Not really, its pretty simple math, you lost a game badly? you get marked a bit lower for the next one, you won by a huge margin? you get marked a bit higher for the next one.
And all oddballs get smoothed out by the big average.
course we still have issues wiht SWF with a high skilled player playing with a friend who just got the game, those will be rather skewed all in all but for the rest it should be fine.
-
@Bran said:

The issue of camping/tunneling? You're sidestepping it by changing the rest of the game to allow the problem to exist.
Well no, its the issue of stress on the killer to get kills at the cost of anything else, a killer does not feel like they are achieving anything in a chase, its just about kills so when you dont get those or get robbed by some perk, its a very unfun experience.
If we emphasize the chase more then the sacrificing it would be a more fun experience for EVERYONE involved.
@[Deleted User] said:
The game doesn't really lay a lot of emphasis on the killing and sacrificing part, it's the players. Most of your rank points and bloodpoints are awarded through doing other stuff. The thing is killers want to stop survivors from escaping, because them escaping means they win so getting 4 kills is the only way to be the only one who wins.
Sure but why do players think this? its because of the game making such a big deal over it and hammering you over the head with it, if everyone escapes its "entity displeased" which I think could and should be adressed.
If the game makes it very clear its not about sacrificing but about winning chases and hooking then that is fine.
See it more like a capture the flag gamemode, you grab the flag, frantically fight your way through the enemy team, bring it back and then what? you just stand there? NO you run out straight away again to get another flag, thats more how DBD should be, hook and go go go, get the next hook, go go go, that would be more fun for all involved.
-
@ProfessorDunwich said:
No.
just elaborate man, dont be so unintelligent.
@TAG said:
To me, that's just sidestepping the issue as opposed to tackling it head-on. You don't solve a problem by changing the game to warp it around said problem. You solve the problem by actually fixing it.
ermm what issue is being sidestepped here? already the game rewards the parts of gameplay I mentioned, im just saying putting more emphasis on one thing over the other, but again, what are you thinking about here, what is the issue and how is it being side stepped and how do you solve it by actually fixing it?
@HealsBadMan said:
Here's an idea: There should also be less focus on doing generators and opening exit gates. Survivors should care more about the running away and not getting hit part. It's fine if you don't escape or not get hooked as long as you escaped a lot of chases and performed well in not getting hit often and keeping up pressure by healing your teammates.
Im at a loss for words, somehow you read this as a killer nerf or so and you want to turn this into a "us vs them" debate by just nonsensically thinking you can mirror this? you do realise this is about making killer matches more fun and less punishing/stressful right?

And yet I'm still being placed with sweat squads despite being ass with Pig.
yeah ok but lagosta is correct, its on a per killer bases hence you cant change killer anymore once you started looking for a match with that killer.
Sure you are being based noe with high level players as a pig and lord knows how the algorithm as worked that one out for you, but the point is, dont sweat it, play how you like, if you do poorly with your average non try hard builds and non try hard tactics, then you simple will be skill-ranked down as pig and get put up against consistently lower skill survivors so you eventually get fair challenging matches.
That is the entire point of the MMR

You're unlikely to get any kind of confirmation from a Mod/Dev. Harassment is generally looked at as a case by case thing and as such they won't give you any defined rules of what is and isn't harassment lest people start to abuse the in-between.
I get that but likewise its rather weird to be punished for something undefined, how are you suppose to know you are not allowed to do something?
The entire law system is defined, it has to be, this leads to people seeking loopholes that sometimes get fixed with new rules but still, it is needed that people know the rules if you want to be able to fairly punish them for violating the rules.
-
this is stuff we have discussed for YEARS now, that is both the interesting and the incredibly sad part about this forum, watching the same things being discussed over and over again only because the devs dont actually want to try these things....
Anywho, I advocated a while ago for being able to see SWF in the END SCREEN, not before, but at the end so it could dispell some of the misconception that SWF means "completely unbeatable sweaty tryhards".
