If you get looped for 4 / 5 gens now, you're just plain bad. It was very possible and very common back when there were 50 pallets everywhere and pallet vaccum existed, but if it happens now, it's either a new killer or just plain bad. Half of the time, survivors get hit through pallets and windows, some windows have been made useless from certain sides because of the irrelevant vaulting change. People just don't like crouching the whole game. They like to take the killer's attention and never turn down a chase, what are they supposed to do without looping? Do you think the devs will tell them "Just use stealth"? That is a good way to kill like 70% of the survivor playerbase, and i'm sure they are not that stupid. There's still a lot of places where a survivor can loop the hell out of a killer that isn't the nurse. Possibly endlessly.  The overturned long boats in the pantry for instance.

    Most buildings.

    Cars.

The only alternative most killers have is to ignore the decoy, and go after someone else, or get looped endlessly. Chases aren't supposed to be endless.

The point is likely to break line of sight, then hide.

You don't have to hold crouch the whole time, or run.

Moving normally while the killer is not present works ok for the most part.

I get it. Stealth play isn't for everyone. Some people want to be chased. Believe me, I see them all the time.

I don't believe anyone is trying to get rid of chases, but most sane people want both sides to have a fair shake.

Care to elaborate a little bit more? I haven't seen an "endless" loop yet.

Not sure how to elaborate. You chase a runner around something like the overturned boats in the grim pantry, and you're going to have a bad time.

Also that video a few comments back.

Also it's pretty easy to get looped several gens. Especially against rushers.

If Detectives Hunch, or Deja Vu are pretty damn helpful.

What platform are you on? On PC this is not a problem. Boats in grim pantry? Survivors are not looping those structures endlessly... at least not on PC with a good killer. Chases in general aren't endless unless the killer makes it out to be.. and that means knowing the survivor's skill and knowing what you think they know. If you think they know there are pallet setups lined up for several gens and you find them leading you, don't follow them. I see killers make this mistake a shitload and by the time they realize their mistake, they lost a lot of time.. and the game.

Detective's Hunch and Deja Vu? Wth.

    Ps4.
And yeah, those perks to help the gen rush while the decoy loops the hell out of the killer.

Is that meta on PS4? I would think just knowing the map would be good enough. Seems like a waste of perk slots to me.

Yes. It's entirely possible to do this to killers that haven't learned how to chase properly.

Swf are still overpowered, killer get constant buff, but solo survivor is still a pain in the ass

dvs plz, give solo surv kindred and bond base kit, at this point, solo surv is a relic of the past and have no reason to be still so underpowered

So lets make solo survivors as good as the "op" swf? that wouldnt help anybody just make solos more op. It will make insidious based kits useless. There will be no more insidious leatherfaces and we dont want them going extinct

The sooner we buff solo survivors to the level of SWF survivors, the sooner we can hit them all with a nerf nuke.

Doing that will really give BHVR a bad rap. Call it a review bomb or whatever, if a large enough faction gets pissed, that can be a big percentage of the playerbase... and BHVR is a company that succeeds through mass appeal.
I agree that solo survivors should get buffed, but then leave survivors at that level, and then gradually buff killers. They did say they wanted to look at the SWF prob, so what they're willing to do will be interesting to see. If they do that, they will need to give survivors more (possibly better) tools to choose from so there's gonna be some tricky lip service involved. And who doesn't like lip service.

I've had several killer games lately where the Survivors can go through a completely closed off window even though the entity have blocked it. I'm wondering if anyone else have experienced this?

Yes. It's a bug. Killer sees the entity blocker but the survivor can keep vaulting. I wonder if this is related to the bug where I vaulted through a window and the notification went off for the killer but I stayed on the same side. Hmm.

  • I wouldn't get too hung up on those numbers. Go with the feel, because they don't take into account the booty ass players that get stuck on a rock or take a turn real wide. That's most players. Most of the time, you're going to get a good survivor and a bad killer, which turns into a loop fest.. or you'll get a good killer and a bad survivor which turns into an easy hook. If you get a good survivor and a good killer, it's about that tile RNG. A good killer won't chase a good survivor if the odds are against him.

I think it's in an ok spot right now, especially with what they did with the pallets and bloodlust. Bandaid fix for crappy maps.. maybe, but it's not bad.

There are only two types of ds users.

The god loopers that just want to make the killer suffer, you ignore those and release your anger on the other survivors

The wannabe ochidos that make mistakes all the time. I tunnel those

If the whole team consists of godier looper, simply DC, it's not worth your time and it won't be fun either

That's terrible advice to give. You can learn from failure. I did. It took time to figure out tiles and how to direct survivors where I want them to go. You won't win 100% of the time but your chances improve a ######### ton by learning from your mistakes and their mistakes... You won't improve at all if you DC because of looping which is hardly even an issue these days.

  • Rares and Very Rares will mostly stay the same at 6 and 3 after level 50. It's the ultra rares that change upon prestiging and that number can almost double.. without prestiging, it has about a ~30% chance of appearing so you have to decide if the 50-60% chance is that big a deal for you. If it is, then p3 your killer. I did my own data gathering with almost 500 bloodwebs after they did the bloodweb rework last year and nobody could give me a definite answer on how much difference it would make.. and at the time, I already had Trapper, Billy, and Myers nonprestiged with all perks. I ended up p3ing all my killers.

If you don't play a lot and by that I mean having under 500 hours, it's probably not worth it.

Well...easy solution to this one. Just make an indicator on the survivor portrait, like a mini obsession ring, or mini tentacles. So you know, this survivor has DS too.
I am pretty sure with a cup of coffee and nicely ask you could persuade a dev to do this.
@not_Queen @Patricia one cup of coffee for that wonderful dev please and take something for you too! You deserve it!

I thought about that but at the same time, I think the devs like the RNG aspect of the killer not knowing if there are other survivors that have DS. It might be an interesting twist though if obsession killer perks like Dying Light, Remember Me, etc. took effect on the nonobsesion DS in place of or in addition to the true obsession.

I hope they add that when a survivor is in dream transition state, it instantly stops/cancels any action they were doing, that way they won't just disrespect him in his face by missing skillchecks and such. This will mainly help with his totems because most of the time when you catch someone on your totem as Freddy they will get the totem before they you're able to do anything to them. Cleansing totems I believe was 14 seconds and the time it takes to go to sleep is 7 seconds so yeah.

That's my point, so many people have spread this nonsense about complete rework that everyone now thinks that's actually what's happening. Reducing dream transition, no wake up on SC, more power if more survivors are asleep, these are all tweaks not entire reworking of the killer fundamentally.

Well he's not going to be a new killer altogether. You can rework a version of something into something different but with a similar flavor. This is what hype is about.

    Hello there!
Am I understanding this wrong or is there really a lack of counterplay on the killerside?
Some people are comparing NOED to DS. But against NOED I can cleanse totems (there is a total of 5 on the map), getting points for it and the killer is playing with only 3 perks.
Same goes for DH. A killer relies on the misjudgment of the survivors to get a hit, not his personal kill (I know you can bait it out or just run up his rear, but it is still a missplay of the survivor and not your skill)
Even slugging can be countered by Unbreakable.
And as a killer there is nothing you can do against a 99% sabotaged hook.
Shouldn't the killer be in the powerrole and dictate the game?
The devs stated, the game was with sneak and scare intended and not running, blinding, sabo and looping.

Nope, sometimes you get ######### on by survivors that know what they're doing. I lose some, I win most. I'm in the power role most of my games and I'm good with that.

As far as this game originally having a sneak aspect, solely... those days are long gone. It's morphed into something else, especially when survivors found infinites and looping. The devs have practically embraced this style. You can by immersed if you want but there are just as many players that want to engage with the killer because that's where the fun is. ######### being immersed.

  • I had a weird instance the other night where I dropped a pallet on the killer and he teleported to the other side. I also had a glitch where I vaulted through a window but stayed on the same side. I can't reproduce it so maybe lag. The explosion definitely went off because the killer and I talked about it later.
As killer, I've seen survivors drop the pallet while they're on the same side as me and I just chalk that up to either stupidity or lag... but who knows now.

  • I can imagine the trash talk now. I'm down for that.

  • Yeah, it's why I want something to differentiate which platform someone plays on when posting on the forums. Any type of hardware limitation is a handicap and it might explain a lot of why we see certain behaviors or complaints about other related things like flashlights/360s/looping (STILL!).

I doubt it's going to get to the point where BHVR will want to separately balance for each platform, but it would be cool to see some statistics between them.

Actually several rank 1 PS4 killer mains have done just that but to the people claiming it's an exploit they can't admit it's their skill instead that's the issue.

It's not just that. I also think about something like the nurse, where console players get 30 fps and under so it's a lot different than playing with 120 on PC... and with that wack controller it's no wonder I'll see ######### about her being balanced or on the flip side, unplayable at all. It would be easier for me to identify a common denominator with certain issues since I don't know a player's true skill.

Prestiging your character does nothing to your bloodweb, trust me.

Thats not true. When you prestige it specifically says you have a higher chance of getting more rare items on the bloodweb. Exact values no one knows and some struggle to notice a difference. I for one feel like i have noticed a slight difference in all of my bloodwebs since i usually see more purple and green items.

The way the ultra rare addons work is that it will either be 0 or 1. With no prestige, you will trigger that "saved" spot about 30% of the time. P3 roughly doubles that so if you're going to play a lot and ultra rares are important to you, then you should definitely P3.

You have to know that at this point, a lot of players already met their quota so they either want to play normally, or they're not offering anything. Why would a killer want to let you farm if there's only 3 offerings up? Might as well play a regular game at that point. That's how I feel, at least.

I think your best bet is to put in your offering and if there's 4 or 5 of them, play normally, but if you get found first, do the "come" and "point" gesture and see how it plays out.

thats what i do, 24 easy nectar vials since i started yesterday.

I don't know if you're doing killer, but good luck with that side of farming. It takes a lot longer because of the queue times and because there aren't as many offerings as there were over the weekend... but the whole time I've been farming, there hasn't been one game where at least 2 people didn't want to farm. The vast majority of my games have been 3 or 4 cooperating survivors.. then sprinkle in some knuckleheads that just didn't get it or didn't want to farm.

There's a way of approaching survivors and it doesn't start with hitting them first. It starts with you letting them get distance and showing some body language that tells them it's safe, then you move on to the next survivor and let them know too. This doesn't mean that you won't get fuckheads that will farm their nectar and leave, but those are just games you have to forget about because ######### will be #########. I still finished my 30 in about 40 games.

There are two playstyles that are both supported in the game, and actively punished by it.One you will never double pip from, and another, even though it has perks supporting it in the game and is a core concept, you will be lucky to safety pip if you do it.

On the killer side, you have Board Control play being punished. By this I mean controling what generators are taken and when, so you set up an endgame that you can control. IE: Ending up with 3 generators close by. There are Killers who excel at this, and even seem built for it (the doctor comes with Overcharge, and his tracking ability lets you make sure they are working on the generators you want them to) However I keep finding myself getting 2-3 person hatched in these games. Even though i've done everything right, they got to hatch out. Which means I will never double pip like that. Which promotes a hyper agressive killer pool. Killers that can put a whole team down by the second gen.

On the survivor side is stealth play. There's whole perk sets revolving around it, on both sides. But if you do it well, you'll be lucky to pip. Instead of rewarding that I unhooked a comrade, and did 2 gens by myself without the killer ever laying eyes on me. I might get to hold my rank, cause I literally have 0 evasion score... which is weird, cause i did a TON of evading.

3 gen Doc is very effective. If 2-3 people are getting the hatch, all that means is that someone brought or found a key. Kill that person. Just because you can control the gens doesn't mean you can lose sight on other game changing possibilities. That's on you.

As far as stealth, the devs have already said that they want to have survivors interact more with the killer. How, I don't know, just putting it out there. Stealthing around the map is a lot easier than someone that engages the killer and if they can "escape" the killer, they deserve the higher score.

And as far as actively punishing playstyles... I don't know about that. You get points for playing a certain way. You don't have to play that way, but then don't expect to be rewarded for it.

  • If you have the candle head set, then you should get the new Wraith head anyway because the head along with the candle body look very nice together. Prestige weapon or the new Wraith weapon skin is good to complete the look.

Doctor's head is the best skin slot IMO followed very closely by the Huntress body. I have the new Huntress body, the new weapon, and her bloody mask and she looks cool as hell. The Doc's body and head are nice, and he has so many good cosmetics already in the store that you can do a lot of mix and matching to look dope.

When it comes down to it, you should get the skins you will use most, so even though I say Doc's head is the best, if you don't like playing him, what's the use?

  • I was playing a survivor game last night and everyone put in an offering but nobody got any bonus points. I thought that was kind of silly.

I agree totally, events are something to remember and it should be a positive thing. The things I will remember about this are the skins.. both a positive and negative, the forced deaths, and the lame caps.

And I know we didn't need the event at all, but it would have been a nice gesture considering these holiday themed events don't happen all that often.

  • I don't think they can remove TR because a lot of other aspects of the game rely on it but I think it would be cool if the TR were reduced by giving killers the ability to walk slowly. It would make M&A hella funny.

  • I really hope this was an oversight and that they change it before the weekend or at the very least, change it for the next event.

  • @Peanits said:
I like them, I just think they need to have less luck involved. You shouldn't be able to take it off after just one box.

The RNG with her traps is too much RNG for me. I understand the RNG aspect of it, and maybe they can increase the chances of it staying on by adding time and a station or by adding the need for 2 keys with the chance of there being an ultra rare chance of you only needing 1 key. I'm not sure. The one thing I do know is that her games last longer than the usual time I'm used to, so I don't know what they could do to make the traps last longer and keep the game fun at the same time.

  • That was a joke by the way. I know "those types" of teams exist that do it for the lulz. DBD balance issues aside, those groups exist in every MP game I play. Annoying, but what you gonna do?

The funny thing is that I can understand those types of people. It's the ones that play hard, seriously, in this game that make me say, ######### why? It's like, we already know that survivors are strong...where's the challenge to go super try hard in a game that isn't balanced for that type of play to begin with.

You don’t even need comms. They showed that when they did a no comms experiment. Killers might as well be an AI since they rely so much on survivors mistakes  You don't need comms if you're good at situational awareness and have a plan from the start. Once you get to know your mates, you don't need audio cues to know what to do next. It helps, but it's not necessary, especially for a simple operation. I used to play 4on4 Quake all the time and we never used comms, but we knew the timings and everyone had their job to do. That's mostly what we needed to know besides being competent with game mechanics.

Pallet loop and rush gens if not in chase. Easy...

Oh I'm not arguing that. It's also easy to wait and punish their altruism and capitalize on their mistakes. That comes pretty easy too.

Not really. Making mistakes as survivor is rare for me to do. I know where every pallet is on the maps so running the killer is ez. The only killer that’s a real challenge is broken nurse.

Well, I'm happy for you. You can teach your friends and do your own experiment then?

We already have on Xbox. We destroy every killer we come across. It personally made me sick of even playing this game. It’s even worse to think how some swf groups out there will bully and take advantage of the crap balance. Disgusting

Well, maybe those groups want to destroy every killer they come across too and feel disgusting about it also?

I'd rather them do solo experiments. We already know swf is broken.

You don’t even need comms. They showed that when they did a no comms experiment. Killers might as well be an AI since they rely so much on survivors mistakes

    Yes. Money.

Licensing costs money. A percentage of every DLC for licensed killers goes to the owner of the property rights for that killers franchise. This is why you cannot buy licensed killers with shards in the ingame shop. If you could do that the devs would be giving out money to the franchise owners without actually making a sale.

Additionally, you have to come to an agreement with the franchise owner everytime you make a change that affects the licensed content, which in short means that licensed killers cannot get cosmetics without explicit approval of the franchise owner, which makes a cheap art project into a lengthy business contract. The skins would also have to be more expensive as the franchise owner would take a cut of every sale.

The reason for licensed killers in the first place is that they are marketing. Players are more likely to pay attention to a product if it's related to something they already recognize and enjoy. Would you rather play a game with Michael Myers or Stabby McMaskface?

The game is already popular enough that further marketing is not required.

Even tho they got 200,000$ from a different game they co owned yeah there just greedy

I don't know about that. $200,000 does not go far when you run a midsize company like BHVR. Greed is one thing but trying to make smart investments is another.

Devs already said no more licensed killers.

Did they go into detail why they wouldn't license any more?

  • Now that you can buy the blight skins, I'm just going for the weapons. They look good with P3 skins.

  • The grind for BP is pretty much it as far as what you're looking for. It will take you maybe 1,000 hours to p3 your killers to varying degrees of perk completion... a few hundred less if you have an optimal plan. By the time you get there, they MIGHT have leaderboards in place, or maybe some reward for devotion. Nothing has been promised though.

Im cool and like the idea with the healing times that they changed. But exactly what are the numbers for healing yourself with self care? Like 36 secs and with Sloppy Butcher 40 secs?

I've been seeing a couple of killers running this perk. New meta?

It was good with the last patch and better now. Meta? I don't know about that but you can be damn effective with it.
