I guess I got lucky, because I started playing a couple hours before the event began. Makes me not want to log off now.
-
I could see it happening if it were versus the same killer. That should be an easy way to put in a leaderboard.

I dont, no, flashlight saves shoulnt be free second chances, they should be diffucult for how rewarding they are. Now, they are difficult.
As a killer that had difficulty with flashlights when I first started, this is what I thought. That thought ended after I got better. Flashlights aren't free second chances because if I screwed up not scouting around when I KNEW they had a flashlight, and I pick them up in the open, then I should get punished. Learning from your mistakes make you a better player.
I can't understand this logic at all. Killer side is already difficult. If you are not a nurse or huntress, the amount of time that you will get looped depends on the survivors not you because there is simply nothing you can do in chases. If you can down a survivor quickly you have already done your job. Flashlight saves are too powerful and too easy for what they do. Why should survivors have unlimited amount of second chances? Why does the killer side have to have all the difficulty on themselves?
When you down a survivor and try to deal with a flashlight guy, he can crawl to the nearest pallet and bum, now they don't even need a flashlight. Downed survivor can see all of the players and if he knows that there is another guy, he can simply start to heal. As if killers don't have enough stress on them because of generators, another meaningless situations that can potentially waste killers' time.
I play Myers. Don't tell me about how difficult it is to deal with looping and flashlights when I know I can counter it. All the time? [BAD WORD] no, but most. Enough to know that flashlights are not an issue for me.
Looping? Yeah, it happens. Nothing I can do in chases? You've gotta be kidding, but what does that have to do with flashlights other than it's something you get better at as you play more. And at the same time, some people can't get better. Nothing wrong with that. That's your skill level. I like a challenge and this game gives me just the right amount, even with all the handicaps against me.. but flashlights ain't one of them.
To me, there are more layers to a killer game than just downing a survivor and leaving it at that. From guessing their perks to predicting actions of their mates to everything in between, sometimes your best bet isn't even to pick up the survivor. Like with what you said about the pallet. Why the [BAD WORD] would I pick him up there? I'll slug him and go patrol a little.
There is simply no counter against pallet loop other than leaving him and starting to chase somebody. Yeah makes sense that a teenager is not afraid of a tall man with a knife but the killer is afraid that this teenager can waste his time. It should have been the opposite. Many pallets are safe and do not allow mind games.
Please elaborate what you can do against good survivors in chases. The relationship between chases and flashlights is that chases take too much time and if somebody is getting flashlight saved, you have wasted all of your time. You are heading towards the end of the game and couldn't even get a hook.
I agree with your last paragraph except for the last part. You have done your job and it takes them 2 secs to save him. If he is downed in an area with generators fine but if he is downed in an area with no gens, you are wasting your time.
I might be seen as a butthurt killer main but I am simply not. I have 660 hours in this game and I have only 250-300 kills (I can see it because of the achievement). This is how much I play killer. I don't even do killer dailies. As a survivor main I think it is so stupid that a killer chases me 2 minutes and then gets flashlight.
To me flashlights should have a mechanic that makes you lose killer, not free saves. I guess everybody has their own opinion though.
If you don't think there's a good counter against pallet looping, that's hardly even an issue now with the pallet rework, then I don't know what else to tell you, brother...
What I do against good survivors in chases? I chase them unless they go into a stupid ass building or it seems like they know how nasty a setup is and start to exploit it. I might bait a pallet drop but otherwise, I will LEAVE. Otherwise, it's standard mindgame #########. As far as flashlights being an issue. Like I said, how was it a huge issue with me before, and it stopped being one the better I got? You just get better, if you can. That's all.
I already told you that I would be happy to hear what can be done against pallet loops. It is not even a criticism I really want to know because I don't know. I would like to improve myself. Recent pallet changes reduced the amount of pallet loops by 1. You can get lucky with pallet hits but it doesn't mean it is a counter against pallet loops.
Again I have told you that you are the killer. You shouldn't be the side where you are afraid of the opposite side's actions. You should not be afraid of the buildings or anything. Game doesn't give you a mechanic to counter it unless you are a nurse. As I have said you can't do mindgame ######### in every single pallet. Just look at shelter woods.
Flashlights are not that big of a deal for me neither but still it is a very cheap way to turn hard earned hooks to saves. If it gets a little bit harder, I don't think that survivors should ######### about it. Is it almost impossible to get a flashlight save? Good then more balanced game.
Hug the loop. A lot of people go wide and it makes it seem like they can't catch up without BL. Learn an L wall setup and know which side to attack from so it gives survivors less options. Know your maps and tile setups so you know what to expect. Know which loops are unsafe and mindgame them. If safe, break the damn pallet.
Yes, you tell me that I am the killer. No you can't do mindgame ######### on every single pallet. Why would you think you could? You do what you can, then you move on to the next setup. If you're good enough, you can get them down quick. If you're unlucky and get a bad setup or the survivor knows what he's doing. Move on.
If you think that because you're a killer so you shouldn't be afraid of a building, then that may be why you don't do well. If I recognize that some windows are open in a building, I will NOT go in, and I do well. This is the game. If you want to play YOUR game, then expect to stay at that rank/skill/level/whatever.
So much assuming. Yes I don't play killer side very much but because of my relationship with FPS games I am good at huntress. I easily reached rank 1 in a couple of days. I am just terrible at other killers I will give you that. I will gladly accept to stay at rank 1.
Survivors should be able to make plays and this game allows survivors to do that. It is not just pallet loop. Adrenaline and borrowed time are 2 perks that you can do so many plays. With the combination of 16 perks you can really have great games because game mechanics allow this. A lot of killers don't have any kind of options and just boring same game play. Leatherface is an example.
There is a problem with the game. Only 2 or 3 killers are used in high ranks and there should be a reason for that. I don't say that I should not play carefully around buildings but whenever somebody leads me to there, I wouldn't instantly break the chase. Every single survivor can go there right?
As if strong perks, horrible map designs, extended chases are not enough, lets give survivors an option that enables them to get free saves with no reason.
I don't think we should debate this anymore. We are looking at the problem from very different angles.
Yes, Huntress is good at countering a loop but so are the others if you know how. So what? And now you're talking about all kinds of balance issues that wasn't even what I was talking about in the first place. I'm not lumping flashlight saves with all that other stuff because they are separate.
You want to talk balance. I don't.
Flashlights do not make this game unbalanced. You play around it. That's all. And I refer back to my original comment and that is that if you get put in a position where you constantly get blinded, that's something you need to work on.

If the survivor got saved, then what the #########, he got saved... I eat it. Before that even happens, I try to prevent a flashlight save by scouting and slugging.

No one who isn't using it to their benefit should do this, if anything that survivor is dumb as hell.
Seriously 4 [BAD WORD] hour standoff means you have your head too far up your own ass. If he's milking people for money on top of that he's a scumbag as well. I have no sympathy for him.
I don't think he wants the sympathy. He's done long standoffs before when his viewership wasn't that high. I think he does it because his roleplaying character gets a kick out of it. The extra donations is just a bonus.

Why? They both don't have to be there if they don't want to be.

I played Pig and Myers to P3, and got all perks. With all that time put into them, I only touch Pig these days when I have a daily to do or want to meme. It's because her traps are really RNG and I would rather be more in control of my game than let RNG factor in. Also, Pig games last longer than Myers game... on average, and I tend to like my games short and sweet.

It's a very small percentage. The Commons and Uncommon %s go down a few points from P0 to P3 and the Ultra Rares get a slight bump. I can't remember exactly the numbers, but it was considerably less than 5%.

If you're talking about nowadays, then sure. If you're talking about before, like I thought you were, then that was an exploit so people couldn't even click on the dude.

It's because there's counter play with survivors that body block.

I like the mechanic because sometimes I won't use Whispers and it will be THAT game that the remaining player wants to stealth the game up for 25 minutes. [BAD WORD] that. That's 15 minutes too long. Gimme hatch any day, all day... and then I'll give it to them if they don't jump in within 10 seconds.
once again do you prove that the hatch has issues, but you simply refuse to deal with that issue. having the hatch is fair. but you're supposed to kill the survivors. thats your objective. you cant do that if you let him purposefully leave. so when you say: i let them leave because i dont wanna do the waiting game (which is fair and i understand that), then the game has put you in a situation in which doing your objective is no longer prefered, and has thus failed. the hatch has failed as a mechanic, in that situation. (it works on other situations tho). the hatch DOES have problems and issues. the issue isnt so much that people can escape, but simply this staring game. it should be fixed in a way that avoids it entirely, through some sort of means that allows them to get out, or allows them to be taken out.
so again, you're not supposed to "let them" get out, and if the game puts you in a situation where thats most beneficial for you so you can get to a new game, then the game and the hatch mechanic has failed as whole and should be revisited. I just said the hatch isn't an issue for me... and I consider people that complain about the hatch stand off are straight up dumb for getting involved in a waiting game in the first place. Now if you want to play the game.. If you want to take this game so serious that you HAVE to kill that last existing survivor at all cost, then by all means have a great time, but then don't complain about it. What the [BAD WORD]. It's a 10 minute game and you will have many more. The way I deal with the issue of giving the survivor a chance to escape? Hey.. the Entity gives them a chance and gives me the OPTION of staring or going.. and I say [BAD WORD] you Entity, I got other games to play! Failed objective? Uh yeah. So what, there's no leaderboard and no reason to take the game so serious that I'm willing to get upset about it. I move on. And you sir, are a world class narcissist. Everyone just has to be Ok with it because YOU say it's dumb. I won't even argue that, because it is dumb, it's a dumb situation that shouldn't exist. It does, so we deal with it as is. That doesn't mean we have to accept it.
You can accept what you like, just don't expect people to accept piss as orange soda because you grabbed a big gulp
Yes, it's dumb to wait around for a game to end and complain about it when you have the CHOICE to leave. This is some next-gen mind game right here. It's ridiculous that people are complaining about a waiting game that they don't have to play.
If someone were to give me piss to drink. I'd choose not to drink it. Pretty simple decision I would think.
Dude, your already drunk on the piss and don't even realize it.

Hey.. the Entity gives them a chance and gives me the OPTION of staring or going.. and I say [BAD WORD] you Entity, I got other games to play!

The hatch isn't causing any issues, at least for me. There are people that are willing to play the wait game. If you're not one of them, then move on. I'm definitely not one of them. I'll let them get hatch because it's not worth my time. I like the mechanic because sometimes I won't use Whispers and it will be THAT game that the remaining player wants to stealth the game up for 25 minutes. [BAD WORD] that. That's 15 minutes too long. Gimme hatch any day, all day... and then I'll give it to them if they don't jump in within 10 seconds.once again do you prove that the hatch has issues, but you simply refuse to deal with that issue.
having the hatch is fair. but you're supposed to kill the survivors. thats your objective. you cant do that if you let him purposefully leave.
so when you say: i let them leave because i dont wanna do the waiting game (which is fair and i understand that), then the game has put you in a situation in which doing your objective is no longer prefered, and has thus failed. the hatch has failed as a mechanic, in that situation.

Yes, we get it, you think it's fine that Survivors get another "Get away for free without even trying" option. We get it. You can stop posting now.
As long as you understand what you want to hear, then it's all good. Is this our hatch stand off? Peace out!

Hatch stand offs aren't fun and we all know how that turned out
Hatch stand offs aren't even a thing unless a stubborn duo makes it one. The way the DS mechanic works with the general flow of the current metagame makes this a worse issue by far.

I think it's because it's too easy to pip, at the moment... Rank 5 reached yet I don't know half the stuff of a high ranked player. Hell, I'm pretty sure I still get caught by BBQ + Chilli (despite crouching behind a gen.) I still need to learn a lot of things like how to make my chases longer, how to juke, if OoO can be used without being detected by hiding behind a gen, like BBQ...
From rank 9-1, during the times I play and especially after rank reset, I can wait a LONG time for a game. Even then, it might be against the same survivors with their same perk loadout and playstyle or redping survivors that complain about lag (from me too!!!). I'd rather just have a regular game with different players than a new mode that would make it that much harder to find.

Just played two hours as survivor, came across 4 separate cases of killer/survivor cooperation farming.
SO frustrating when you try and have a fun evening with some friends.Maybe they could just halve the cost of everything in the bloodweb for these events instead? Same net gain in bloodpoints:items ratio, but I don't think there'd be as much dickish gameplay
Not sure how that would change the way people would play. It's essentially the same thing.
-
You heard what tunneling is.
It's not "fun" because it can quickly end a player's game in a couple minutes with very little BP to show for their time. It's effective because tunneling and camping can get you to rank 1 once you get to know the game.
I used to do this all the time until I started playing survivor. Not so fun then.
Karma bit my ass hard but oh well. -
Same. I always fall sucker to xp multiplier weekends but then after the marathon, I get burnt out and don't play for a week. More moderation. Less binging!
-
Wait, are you saying that it was actually July 5th all along? Lol.
-
Sprint Burst is the ONLY one from the bunch that should get nerfed. I play around those other perks just fine.
-
It's a formula that works for the company. Most people are ok with how the game is and would rather see new content than anything else. If I wanted a new game mode, I would play another game. If they wanted to add objectives for survivors, that would be ok but they could do that in one of their mid-chapter updates.

He has some great perks but damn is he unenjoyable to play as and his power honestly sucks, it’s basically a none issue and it’s not even as good as the Hindered we get with the Huntress and Hag add-one. Truly awful killer on the same tier as Freddy and Wraith only he’s criminally unfun to play as too.
PS4 users who were waiting for him with glee and giddiness, yeah he’s not worth the wait, easy to loop, easy to counter, easy to win against, and extremely unfun to play as. Also all of Kate’s perks are borderline atrociously bad. Worst chapter to date. For me he's almost on the same level as Huntress and right above Myers. I get great results with him.
Kate's perks are meh but who cares when she wears those painted on shorts.

To begin with: I absolutely adore this game, but it's getting messed up. I can't play this game without getting angry any more.
Especcialy because of the fricking hitboxes, I get downed so many times WITHOUT GETTING HIT. Like, what the frick.
Facecamp, just another no skill requiring thing that STILL WORKS. Tunneling, it's just part of the game, I don't mind it.
######### up totem spots. IT IS NOT HARD TO HIDE THEM.
Broken perks such as sprint burst, self care and that sort of bullshit.
It doesn't matter if you're playing either killer or survivor, there is always something that WILL piss you off.
I love this game, but I'm not sure if I will be playing this game if this bullshit conitunues.
If you have some advise to get mad less easily, please react. It's OK to stop for a while or move on completely. Games aren't played forever. If that were the case I would never have moved on to this one from my last favorite. The good thing about this game is that it's continually getting updates.. for better or worse changes are happening. Come back in 6 months and see if the game is OK for you then.

I give it a solid 8. There's just enough challenge and taunting to keep me coming back.

Yes, this undoubtadly is an issue.
And people saying "i dont use ruin and i usually get 4 kills" are imo ignorant to the biggest balance issue this game has. Either they play against low-ranks or are rambo himself.
Time is clearly not in the killer's favour and the whole community complains about it. When playing against a decent Survive with friends group (2-3 people swf are enough), there is not much even a very good killer can do (really the only one surivors have to fear is nurse, and she is the hardest killer to play). Items and add-ons further shift the balance towards the survivors.
Gens need to get a repair-time increase of AT LEAST 15-20 seconds at higher ranks (>=5). There should not be anything like a "safe pallet" in the game. Pallets should be drop-and-forget. Most killers should not be dependent on ultra-rare or rare addons to somewhat viable to play (huntress, hillbilly, leatherface, doc, wraith, freddy, pig, trapper, clown, hag,... literally everyone except nurse. Totem placement needs a complete rework (spawning on top of a hill? spawning completely in the open? making fire-crackling noise like a big campfire?)Of course you can 4k with no ruin, but only againts not experienced survivors

I guess there's quite a bit of them at rank 1 then. I'm ok with that.

Because just because I've played a lot does not mean I'm good. Basing rank on time played is a nice thought but it doesn't scale well, at all.True. From Diablo 2 to StarCraft to Quake Live, I've played with and against many many people with "thousands of hours" in a game and they play like a Div 3 player. A LOT of people are capped in skill no matter how long they play. This game is no different. Not by a long shot.

The devs have been doing bandaid fixes, and often charging for them, since the game launched. Generators get done so fast relative to chase times that winning is literally impossible against even decent survivors? Sell the Ruin perk and tell killers to equip it every single match. They're never going to address the problems SWF presents or overhaul all the maps.I have no problem winning against decent rank 1 survivors. It's not literally impossible. What do you mean?

other than removing SWF how would you fix it? and i think if you remove it a ton of the players will also leave. I know I, for one, came to DbD because of friends.Give Solo survivors optional voice comms and text based chat in game so that they are on par with SWF then nerf them accordingly.
The thing is text-chat in game would go against the lore, and there are people that really like playing immersed or just plain out like solo'ing. There's a point where you get good at reading your teammates and you're just a good survivor so you don't have to rely on communication that much...Yeah, it helps but a lot of people just have good situational awareness, and knowing what your partners will do next is more than enough than saying it.
Personally I think too much is put in the comms aspect of SWF and not in the fact that people just know each others play-styles.
-
Yeah. I don't mind if it's invitation only, as long as it's stated as such. At the same time, maybe the interest was so huge, they couldn't accept everyone. And that is a shame. In this case, it should have been first come first served. It's just for fun anyway.
If you want a REAL tourney, then let's do a ladder with weekly scrims leading up to a finals.
-
Boggle... You need more XP to level which gets you more IS. Is it a noticeable gain? I mean, could it be that it's taking you the same amount of time to earn that IS because of the increased XP requirement?
-
When I tried Kate's achievement the other day, it didn't give it to me, but maybe it's because I used an item and offering. The second time I tried without anything but tier 1-2 perks, I got it fine.
-
I don't think it happens in the 19-20 ranks nearly as often because these are the casuals that don't care as much. Yes, this happens in 1-12 also for any number of reasons, from iridescent hatchets to 3-gen doctor to moris.

Was hoping someone was keeping track this early in the game. Thanks buddy.

I think the Devotion as it is now is kind of a dud. It's just another way of saying how many hours you have. However, maybe this can be verifiable now as true time played and maybe that in itself is a good thing because it can lead to some kind of leaderboard.
Something better, might be to add a coloring scheme (like they do with common, uncommon, rare, etc.. since that seems to be a theme) to indicate the average of your rank. So if your average is 20-17, then you'd be a brown Devotion Level xx or if your average is 16-13, you'd be a yellow Devotion Level xx-- all the way to 4-1 where you'd be a red Devotion Level xx. I think that's something to brag about.
