It's justified if people are willing to buy them.
-
After I buy the DLC, I have enough BP and IS to level up the clown and unlock his perks. I'm going to get Bamboozle 3 on my top favorite killers as fast as I can, and it will be game-on and MUCH FUN until they nerf it. That's right, I'm calling it.
-
I used to play a game called Hawken and when they integrated cross-platform playing, it was not fair at all. PC users had a huge advantage because of the higher FPS and better controls.. EVEN THOUGH they gave console players aim assist. Also, in order for the Hawken team to be able to pull it off, they had to change the UI, graphics and whatnot to make patches apply across all platforms which cost the team a lot of money. It killed the PC side of the game.

This is my idea to solve the problem:
We will need casual/ranked mode anyway if devs try to make this game compettiive, so bann SWF from ranked, thats the first thing.
Second, split casual into a SWF and a solo queue and if the killer is masochistic enough to face a SWF in casual, then he will be granted X % extra BP for the whole game, this way you can make sure that SWF can still play.Sure it doesnt affect the balancing, but it removes the problem from the competitive part of the game and gives killers a chance to decide whether they want to play against SWF or not
I dont think splitting the current community in 2 modes will be healthy for the game. I think ranked would be a lost cause and have long queues. Casual will have rank 15-20 players who arent that great having to face rank 1 players wich wont be a great experience for them. Wont happen every match ofcourse. I think ranked is mainly here to split the skillbased community since there are no rewards.
This game has enough players to support a casual/ranked mode #########, by ignoring the issues you will actually lose more players than by splitting them into 2 modes
There will be seasonal rewards and leaderboards, so this type of change is necessary. Otherwise the whole game will turn into ######### when SWF start tryharding to climb in leaderboards.....
I think the game has enough players to support those modes only in primetime hours. Offpeak, and it's a completely different story. I already have to wait 10 minutes for games as a killer. After rank reset and it's a lot worse. Deranked to 10 and now I only have to wait 5 minutes to fill.

Do you realize that this is due to more and more palyers leaving the game? Talking about myself, e.g. I only do dailies to get some BP and wait for balance fixes
If you play at low ranks, it is obvious that there are new players joining the game, but the whole player count seems to be rather stable, a lot of old players leave the game because of its balance issues at higher lvlIt may be true that players are leaving, but what game isn't like that? You can chalk it up to competition with other games, boredom with the game or balance or whatever, but I don't think splitting the playerbase at this point in its life is going to fix how happy people will be with it. There are so many things people ######### about this game that people are going to leave no matter what.

You're forgetting the heal you get from Adrenaline. That's a big deal if you're slugged, injured and being chased, or hooked and about to get saved. Along with the speed boost you get with the perk, it's a nice combo... or a really dumb combo, depending on your side of the knife.
-
Wow, maybe it's the different sound drivers because it was definitely low for me. The scream itself was fine, the volume wasn't. They need to mix up the screams too. Give them gurgling sounds as they're being hooked.
-
I don't know what she sounds like now, but when the PTB first started, I didn't like her scream. It was like she was 10 feet away from the microphone when she recorded it.
-
They will get to it eventually but it's just not a pressing issue to take care of now.
-
Faster than my mates, not faster than NOED.
-
I will test it right now and see.
-
Reddit and Steam forums can be shitpools when they want to be. Hopefully mods can keep this place in check considering it's an official forum, and hopefully there will be more interaction with the DBD team so people don't go apeshit over lame crap.
-
You don't need to buy the top tier crap. That's for people that don't mind paying the $10 price for their Gucci time. They have cheaper skins too... but currently, not for all characters yet.
-
Wow, I reply to a concern, get a vote up right away, and they address the issue. I knew I was meant for something.

Maybe I'm jaded in knowing how much information gets mined from me on a daily basis.. but after reading what redshell does, ehhhh. Maybe this is how they track data for their design/development choices. If it's just that, or an easier way to track cheaters, or something that will benefit the game other than selling me out, I'm fine with it.

The new version DEFINITELY lacks the tingling sound in the theme. It begs for it. SERIOUSLY.Too much post-processing can really tame down that eerie vibe. It's like they took the theme song and "orchestracized" it. Bring back the grit. Grit good.

30 hours to grind? Is that for killer alone or both? It doesn't even matter because I'd rather use that 30 hours to put to the bloodweb as I unlock the DLC with a measly $8.
-
My thought is this: I have a ton of moris stocked up. This Friday, I will use them on each Laurie I see.
The trailer is making me do it!
-
Ya. I didn't even notice that there was a new movie in the works. I'm so excited about this. Maybe a grandma Laurie holding a microphone cosmetic?
-
Do I think this game will see any serious rework?
And ruin an addictive simple game that has worked and continues to work to bring home the money? Very doubtful, especially so for the next year.
-
Oh I'm not saying that they're not high, but I do believe in options and if someone wants to pay $10 to be different and someone is unwilling to spend it, it gives the very-rare skin additional value than price itself. It's a model I don't mind because to me $10 isn't insane, it's high. That's all.
As for the reason why they're high, my guess is because they can? This game is going on two years old and they need to keep making money. Maybe they had someone draw up data to see if this was a feasible pricing model to achieve a good flow that can help maintain salaries. If nobody buys, then my guess is that they will lower the prices but if people are willing to buy them, then why would they? Using additional revenue in one area to make another area cheaper doesn't make sense to me, especially if their goal is to make money for continued development.
The common and uncommon skins are cheap. 135 - 270 AC for the bundled ones. The only problem I have is that they're not available for all characters yet but they were saying they have more planned so we'll see.
-
If you did that as a survivor at rank 20, I'd understand because that's exactly what I did when I first played. I crouched around for most of the rounds and the crows visited me a few times, then death. I get it. After rank 20, I would think you're trolling and. ehh, I wouldn't take it personally because even I still do stupid things like that once in a while. I might meme with you too.
If you camped as a killer, so what? I do it sometimes and it can be fun, especially if that Dwight did me wrong the last round! The way I see it is that camping is a learning experience for the killer and survivor. Sometimes it's challenging for a killer to secure that camp. And of course, it's challenging for survivors to try to rescue. They have to learn, somehow, when to cut their losses, do gens and bounce, than give up their lives to foolish altruistic saves.

It takes a petty person to disconnect. ...but it takes an extremely petty person to disconnect and then spectate for 10 minutes as I kill the rest of the survivors to flame me in the post game chat
This part I don't understand. Wouldn't those people rather just leave and try to get another game going? It's a waste of time and negative energy to be like that. I usually just leave before anyone says anything but sometimes, that one DC person will stay and start in with something.. and before I know it will lead to anything more, I say GG and bounce. That's about as toxic as I like to get.

i can understand charging for any new content. and making alot of it available through play time is incredibly generous.... BUT charging as much as 10+ dollars for 1 skin? thats the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard of.... you want to make this game fun. you want to generate an interest. i don't understand how you feel that price is even remotely fair....Here is my explanation:
Everything started with freddy, it was a interesting concept so a lot of DLCs were bought to play freddy. However, survivors cried about "OP", so he got nerfed into oblivion. Killers now hesitate buying new killers and will wait a decent amount of time after the release till evreyone has figured out how good the new killer is.
New killers will never be really strong because survivors would cry about it and because it would rise "p2w" questions, so why should you buy DLCs? Killers will be weak, survivors are all the same and perks can be acquired in the shrine too.The solution is to do it like every other game. Give players the chance to buy cosmetics.
In the cosmetic store you can see that the survivor side has been given a lot more love than the killer side. This is due to the fact that killers will hesitate to spend money for a game where they dont know how long they keep playing (balance issues etc)The solution is to increase prices for skins to milk those players who would pay money anyway and dont really care about he amount. Look at all the DBD streamer e.g. who will gladly buy all the shiny outfits to troll the killer even harder.
All this is coming from a main-killer perspective, so it might be a bit biased, but I tried to use rational arguments

I don't think that's the case here considering they're releasing 4 DLCs in the next year. Cosmetics are separate sales but they both achieve the same thing: additional revenue.
-
The very rare skins are $10, but the rare, uncommon, and common are lower. For example, Dwight's very rare is $10, his rares are 7-8, uncommons are 2.70, and commons are 1.35. Hag's very rare is $10, rare is $7, commons are 1.35.
You don't have to buy the very rare skins if you don't want although I think some characters, currently, only have very rare/rare bundles with some individual pieces sprinkled in there so you don't have as many options... yet. If you don't want to spend the premium on the very rare, you should wait until the commons come out or maybe they will have some kind of cosmetics sale.
-
I give hatch to obvious new players. Experienced players, not so much. I'm passing on the goodwill from killers that spared me when I first started out.

I believe it's meant to imply that it makes up for bad survivors. As in, they didn't do well....but still got double the BP.As in double the Blood Pressure? Bad salt. Bad!

I'm curious about that too. I've seen some good hags but I have never seen a streamer play her consistently to know how well she does, unlike Nurse, Hillbilly, and Huntress. I see those played and streamed a lot and I know they can really hold it down.
As far as the list, I think Doctor should join Myers/Hag and Trapper should drop under Clown. Clown is good in PTB. Unsafe pallets and area denials make it challenging for survivors. If pallet changes go live and with Bamboozle in effect, it may shake up the list a tiny bit, if not make it easier all-around for killers.

Now that I think about it.. How about a "Tip Jar" for those that played fairly?"Dude, I know you didn't get any kills this game but me and my buddies were just talking about how you played really really well. Here's 20 BP."
Maybe?
I really like that idea.
And it's just more of a suggestion to face the frustrations players get I suppose - I know it's not bad behaviour but I wasn't sure what to call it. This is just an encouragement not to do so, to lead to less complaints towards the game.
I said it half jokingly, but maybe it's really not that bad an idea? There would have to be some kind of limitation though because I"m sure someone would exploit it.
Yeah, people would tip low BP amounts just to insult people.
"here is 1BP go [BAD WORD]" type #########. I guarantee it!
You might be able to circumvent that by having one or two options: 100 bp or 250 bp.

thats a good idea BUT most ppl can't even be bothered to say 'gg' or 'thanks for hatch'. i doubt it would ge implemented often....
I wouldn't expect it to, but it would be funny if there were a leaderboard for "most tips". That in itself might promote a more "fair" or "fun" time. Even a slight effect could be good. I for sure know how it is not to get a BBQ stack so I would definitely tip a killer that couldn't down anyone even though they seemed to play right, but just didn't draw the right cards that round.

Ehhhhh. No. Camping and pallet looping is bad behavior? I'll take it as it is rather than have restrictions imposed on me in how I should play. Who would police this, the one that perceives the bullying? Lol.

Have the devs even talked about what direction they'd like to go? I know they talked about addressing SWF in a stream but didn't say what. I really don't think it would be any type of power boost/handicap. I think that would cause more headache than anything.. maybe limiting duplicate perks/items?But limiting duplicates will still negatively affect the random person in the match. I dont think nerfs to SWF or buffs to killers are fair for the randoms in the match who only have a tougher time and didnt ask for that. I dont think SWF can be made more fair by altering stats or gameplay unless its a guaranteed 4 man SWF or double 2 man SWF.
I meant that this would only affect SWF and not the random. Now I'm sure, pregame, they can talk about what setup they running and get the random to play a perk but if that random is like me, I'll tell them to mind their own biz because I'll run what I want.. but here's a party streamer tho!

Hmmm. There has to be something to that Devotion label. The word in itself has a weight to it so I'd be surprised if it was just a reset and that would be it. What a dud, if so. Haha

Ok, just so we're on the same level here..
=====
NEW FEATURE: Player Level
For this release, we have implemented a Player Level which represents the amount of time you have spent playing the game. Playing games grants a certain number of Experience Points (XP), and XP contributes to increasing your player level.
XP is gained through:
Time played in a match
Highest Emblem quality at the end of a match
Bonus for first match of the day (for both, Killer and Survivor)
When you pass Player Level 100, you will gain 1 Devotion Level and your overall Player Level progression will reset to 1 – as will XP requirements and Iridescent Shard rewards. Each level of Devotion represents 100 Player Levels gained.UPDATED FEATURE: Iridescent Shards
We have changed the way that you will acquire Iridescent Shards and what you can do with them. Each Player Level gained (see above) will reward a set amount of Iridescent Shards, which will allow you to purchase customization items, characters, or teachable perks in the in-game store.
======
So I guess my question is.. what is the formula or cap? And I think I can answer it.. nobody knows, yet.
Do you know how many shards you made up to level 21? Damn, had I thought about it, I would have made a spreadsheet.

-
Someone do separate tests with survivor and killer and show how much one can make within an hour.
-
In the meantime... bonus XP? Hell ya.
