= WHY ARE SURVIVORS ACROSS THE GLOBE OVERREACTING IN THIS WAY?

The killer buff during chase is just random and doesn't have any logical reasoning behind it. It also just wouldn't be a good idea, we already had that issue back with the "machine gun" build issue if you were around then.

Also, I'm down for Kindred 2 being at base to bring solo up to swf par however your changes to Kindred would defeat the purpose of a lot of other perks like Bond and Empathy. If you kept Kindred the same or changed it you would have to give some massive as hell buffs to killer and add some other HEAVY things to slow down the game. I don't think you realize just how much of a massive loss of time that would do to the killers...who are already way, way behind on time in the current game WITHOUT adding that.

Kindred doesn't buff the killer, read the bold for a quick summary.

Kindred: Your loving heart burns evil and protects you from harms way. When in a chase, all survivors except you will see each other's aura. The killer's attack recovery time and speed penalty during the attack recovery time towards you is increased by 5/10/15%.

Jesus, you actually want that hindrance on the killer ALSO? Read what i already wrote on my last post, these are just insane buffs on the survivor side that would absolutely destroy the what little balance there is.

You're overreacting, 15% is not the end of the world for the killer and it only affects the killer when he attacks a survivor that is using the perk. It's not like Open Handed where it gives the 15% to ever survivor.

My point is that even WITHOUT that 15% effect, this change would MASSIVELY put the game out of balance when it's ALREADY in a massively out of balance state. If you want to push these changes, you need to offer some very extreme killer buffs to compensate alongside them.

Yeah, bullshit. The game is already at a killer favored death ratio with SWF factored in, yet killers are continuously getting buffed with little regard for differentiating solo and SWF players.

Every killer buff is mostly a nerf to solo survivors. With killer queues already staggering due to the lack of current survivor players, we need changes to improve solo survivor experience.

And I say this as someone who can barely stand to play killer because of the 5-10 minute queues that only fill up once a 4-man SWF rolls around.

Just complete nonsense. If you're having trouble as a solo survivor it's you. Rank 20 isn't an accurate balance representation.

Having trouble and not wanting to play are two separate things.

I don't play handicapped. You should talk to the non-existent solo survivors in your queues for their "Rank 20" opinions.

in real life you can dodge hits too... think about it a little harder and also understand game mechanics more..

In real life if a child rushes in my direction while I'm swinging at them since survivors are like children compared to the killer, the child is still getting stabbed. 360 shouldn't work. It's an exploit.

"I should be able to miss and still hit."

  • @SanKa_Games said:
Somebody on reddit said that his SWF friend was tunneled because he didn't bring the offering.

How would the killer know who didn't bring an offering?

  • The devs successfully encouraged survivors throwing other survivors under the bus. lol

TBH, there were so many times I wanted to leave the survivor on the hook just so they don't eat up the pustules. But they're lucky I run WGLF.

  • Play 4 man SWF.

There's no other way you can guarantee people aren't sucking away pustules by themselves, and then if you all suicide for the next game, no one will complain.

Plus you'll have relatively fast queues because there's an over-saturation in killers right now.

  • @Milkymalk said:
Another difference is that a bad survivor player still gets juice while a bad killer player gets nothing.

Considering that survivors prioritize farming pustules over gens or even healing, I'd say bad killers have more leeway than ever. Plus, they're pretty much always running and leaving scratch marks to get to pustules before they're drained.

If they can't catch any survivors, then they're really under qualified for the rank they're at.

  • Just guessing that playing killer during the event is more appealing than playing survivor.

Survivor gameplay is mostly in-fighting for pustulas and suiciding shortly after. Then survivors can't participate in the event after completing their 30 vials, so they have to switch to killer.

Meanwhile killer gameplay is mostly the same, except no one is finishing gens for the first five minutes, and it's far easier to catch survivors because they dive bomb pustulas. Plus killers can continue to play the event b/c their BP gain isn't stopped after 30 vials. It is prime time to rank up as killer right now too, because of how easy it is to win.

Basically, it's painful to play survivor right now, and it's pointless to play after 30 vials, so many people have moved on to playing killer or are playing killer. I highly doubt it's a bug causing high queues.

  • No. Hooking, injuring, and chasing count toward emblem too. It's almost impossible to depip as killer unless you were completely outplayed to the point where you did virtually nothing. (i.e. 5 gen loopdeeloop)

You won't depip as a farming killer either. I don't farm as killer, but I confirmed with killers I'm farming with that they don't depip.

  • Then I suggest staying hidden or sabotaging the killer’s event hooks. Works wonders you know
The devs took away the ability to Sabotage event hooks.

Well I thought it'd be a nice change but the numbers seem to have gone overboard with the changes since one thing was supposed to cancel out the other.

sabo IMO isn't a fun or engaging mechanic for either side, for survivors it's exactly the same level of exitement as doing a gen, and for killer it serves only to exist as a frustration

Failing a sabo skill check is more exciting tbh. It's like the hook gets mad at me.

  • 3 minutes. With Saboteur is now 3.5 minutes.

Good/trolling survivors will actively try to get downed by a near-sabo'd hook or already sabo'd hook. You need to try to shepherd them to non-sabo'd areas, pressure other parts of the map (give them no reason to be in a safe zone after they complete gens there), or run Agitation/Iron Grasp.

Or always try the basement if you're lucky with the spawn.

I feel the same way. But the guy who runs the wiki is a regular on these forums and he got really upset when we questioned anything about the source of the information. I tried to explain that things have been wrong before so we’re just trying to be on the safe side, but he was pretty miffed.

Huntress hatchet hitbox is pretty large actually. It is as wide as it is tall. It's about the size of a small/medium beach ball. I saw it on one of the dev videos.

Oh. That's disgusting. I don't play Huntress anymore, but that sounds convenient.

One day, once people realize that Last Year is going to be bad, the devs will have players pooling back in and finally be able to afford dedicated servers... and then we won't have to deal with beach balls anymore.

Bullying noobs for either side should be a big no no I agree with the ban

Wanting to play at lower ranks doesn't automatically mean bullying. The pipping system for survivor is so screwed up that it's easy to end up at a rank where it's absolutely impossible to enjoy the game.

Was watching a small streamer, plays DbD only occasionally, she's nevertheless rank 1. She played at rank 1 for 5 1/4 hours and escaped only twice during that time, once vs a meme Leatherface insidious-guarding his basement chest. Multiple times the killers had 4ks even before hatch was unlocked. Towards the end the only reason she kept playing despite being deeply frustrated was because she was hoping for one good match to finish off which never came. Despite playing hopelessly unsuccessful at rank 1, she didn't drop in rank either and when she dropped to 2, she was back at 1 the next game despite having a bad game.

I hate playing at higher ranks as well, mainly because the fellow survivors you get in solo queue are on the same skill level of those you get on rank 15 (red ranks didn't change anything), but the killers get better and better and fully perked out and totally tryhard I can't easily 1 vs 1 them anymore (which is necessary considering my teammates are mostly more of a burden than help). Moreover, almost every single game 3rd person got slugged to deny the 4th the hatch. Makes the last four minutes of the game terribly boring.

I am managing my own rank by simply playing at most one survivor game per day, and many days I don't play at all. Last season I managed to never get higher than 11. I would rather like to play more and not be forced into simply playing only one game every couple of days.

So you guys want to play against newbie killers, that chase you a little bit, but they are not able to catch you, just for your own enjoyment?

Maybe you are not trying to intentionally bully, but wanting to play at a lower rank compared to your own skill level just in order to have easier matches is like bullying for those lower rank players.

You guys really, really have to stop equating rank to skill level. Yes, it matters from like 15-20 because those are the genuine new player ranks, but once you get above that, while higher ranks will probably have a few more good players than not, it truly, truly does not make much of a difference. Everyone knows that equating your rank to skill in this game is something only new players do.

You said it yourself "...while higher ranks will probably have a few more good players than not..."

So you guys try to stay on lower ranks on purpose in order to avoid facing those extra "few" good players, just so you can have more amount of easy matches.

I do understand when people try to stay on lower ranks in order to get faster queues.
But staying on lower ranks just for the sake of having easier/funnier matches doesnt seem right to me(it might be fun for you, but probably not for the other side)

Maybe you will change your mind after you have been buliled by a SWF trying to learn a new killer.

What does SWF have to do with deranking?

Some people derank with their friends to generally be dicks in-game.

While a game is winnable with 1 smurf, it's not exactly winnable with 4.

But killers do the same anyway ("to have an enjoyable game"), so it's nothing unique to SWF.

Eh, but if you're setting up shop around the event gens specifically, don't be all taken aback when survivors sabo the event hook you've been going across the map for.

Not like the survivors should necessarily let a teammate be hooked.

Speaking of which, where are the event details?

  • You're probably being put up against survivors higher than your own skill level.

The one thing that others haven't pointed out is that these strategies are not known to newbies, 1 month into the game. To be a killer at their level, you need to counter what they do, the same way they try to do versus you.

  • Franklin's Demise is nice. So is Monitor and Abuse.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:
If you ignore feedback or implement it half-heartedly, or implement irrelevant changes you aren't improving the situation, you exacerbate it. Balancing around SOUND feedback is necessary it's easy to spot bad suggestions and there are many more good ones. Listen to good feedback, especially those issues that are consistently repeated and you'll end up making good changes.

I hesitate to ask what some of that "sound" feedback is.

DC bans may have gone out, but that will not stop the DC problem. Keep note, you'll continue to see posts about Dc'ers ruining the experience of others because it's not enough to "punish" them after they've dc'd enough times. Many players will continue to game the system and continue to dc some matches and play many more to keep their ratio positive.

Players don't know what the ratio is. They are only speculating. People will continue to d/c, but if the threat of a ban deters them from d/cing more than they think they should, then it is working as intended. It is not possible to eliminate all intentional d/cs, and that was never the goal.

Punishing camping does not make it less likely to happen or more fun for the camped. If a match is going south anyway a killer will camp at any rank. Also, when was camping no longer deemed a legitimate tactic? Where's the change to make looping punishable?

Camping as a primary strategy is not intended to assist in ranking up. Every veteran player knows this. Similarly, cleansing dull totems and sabotaging hooks do not contribute a single dime to the emblem system, despite being helpful in many cases. For a game that heavily rotates around the killer seeking and chasing survivors, standing in front of a hook does not contribute to that. The emblem system already decided the dev's stance on camping as a primary strategy, and this is nothing more than doubling down on that. And I say this as a Hag player, who likes camping because it's easy to do.

Furthermore, looping has consistently been made less effective across patches and it is dishonest to pretend that is not the case. Camping killers are lucky they did little to change the practical effectiveness of camping.

Another perspective on the hatch is that it punishes a killer who does well during a match preventing an iridescent shard via an unfair mechanic.

They have been testing multiple iterations of the endgame as it is. Furthermore, the survivor sacrifices as much time as the killer does in this situation. The hatch mechanic may lean toward the survivor, but the standoff requires two, equally stubborn and self-entitled people.

They said during a dev stream that "Not all killers are meant to be viable at high ranks". That can be interpreted as "designed to be weak"

McCote says a lot of stupid things. Let the patch notes do the talking, rather than clinging onto obviously trivial statements, made by a single, silly individual who has acted more like meme than a representative.

Hexes just suck. Losing a perk without a risk to survivors is just another unfair mechanic. Haunted Grounds came about because of this problem, but doesn't solve it.

Like the hatch, they are trying different ways to change this. At this point, I don't think you're concerned about them listening to feedback, but rather the speed at which they implement it.

The point of bringing that up is that no one understood why the change was made. You say it was an unintended consequence of another change, but what was that change? What was the intended consequences of making those changes? Whatever they were, they certainly weren't to the benefit of killers.

And here you seem upset at this as a symbolic gesture. No, not every change is meant to benefit killers. And obviously, this change was egregious enough for them to hotfix it out. And you still are concerned about them not listening to feedback?

I can sit here and copy paste every significant killer favored change in the patch notes or the hard data they have graciously provided since their miraculous revelation back in March, but it seems that all of the devs attempts at communication and compromise have been largely ignored by a vocal portion of the community. At this point, I question their vision of balance.

The problem is that killers feel like they've only won if they 4k and survivors don't always care if they do get killed.

    Lets review:
4 Kill = The survivors really messed up
3 Kill = You won! Congrats!
2 Kill = You tied. This is not a loss.
1 Kill = You messed up somewhere. Survivors won.
0 Kill = You probably messed up a lot and or had some rotten luck.

If more killers understood that, then there would be less complaining. If killers think they need a 4k to win, then they are going to get frustrated and feel like they are CONSTANTLY losing.

Its an interesting dynamic how most people playing survivor don't seem to feel the same way. Killers just take the game way harder than they do. Survivors seem to die and move on much more readily.

There are many killers that feel that a 3k should be the standard for the game. TBH I don't think the number of kills matters that much. The game should be centered around feeling satisfying for both sides.

Sacrificing myself for teammates or getting a good chase in makes me feel good as a survivor, but killers don't have that feeling. They feel pressured to get a goal completed, and that one goal tends to be frustrating to get regardless. Or so easy that it's not satisfying at all (ex: "Why did you run into me" cases).

If a killer is thinking "######### these survivors" after a 4k, that's not adequately balanced. Also part of it is feeling that they are not in control over their losses (e.g. "I lost because of SWF, unbalance perks, OP survivor add ons", etc. ) rather than attributing losses internally (e.g. "oh I messed up, I should've slugged instead of picking up"). And feeling as though they are being judged (e.g. expecting mean endgame chat).

Obviously I can't speak for every survivor, but when I lose, I don't immediately think "wow of course they're using BBQ Billy screw this guy" or "Nurse is some OP PoS". But that may be part due to the lowered stress of being part of a team, playing with friends, less focus on numerical outcomes as a survivor, etc.

When playing as killer, coordination feels unfair, when it really shouldn't. It is so obvious how killers view coordination when playing as a solo survivor, you get accused of playing SWF (which shouldn't be a bad thing, again).

  • Overrated:
Sprint Burst. Not because it's not strong or anything, but because it's so annoying to walk everywhere. It's great when paired with UE, but obnoxious without it.

Thanatophobia. Look at the values for it. It's so useless, why do so many people use it?

    Underrated:
Quick and Quiet. I get away with locker jukes so much that I can hardly play without it.

Nurse's Calling. I know some people already regard it as high tier, but I think it's so good it's mandatory. Playing killers with small TRs (and with M&A), it makes it so easy to catch survivors healing in some dingy corner.

Yeah, like the Spirit's feedbacks who got mocked and dragged into the dirts 2 wholes weeks by our disgusting community (like the 15 seconds cooldown of her ability).

"Huur duuur that would be OP, keep learning her >:D "

Then finally added it when Devs noticed that no one wanted to buy an underwhelming killers with too many drawbacks.

    Then pathetically said :

" We listened to your feedbacks no worries ^^"

"If she is the same than in the PTB it's because... because... A BUG! Yes it's a bug ^^""""" "

I only feel loathe for all of this.

The very same community bitched and moaned about kneejerk reactions for over a ######### year. When the devs take this into account (you know, for the suggestions posted LESS THAN TWO HOURS after her release), people suddenly start forgetting and raise their pitchforks.

The only thing you loathe is not getting what you want, right when you want it.

And of course, they're still buffing her and apparently this is not satisfactory. Again, Exhibit #215 of who the devs are trying to please.
