Nothing gameplay wise, but here's a good one for you: turn off the in-game chat menu. You can do this by pressing the '>>' button next to the chat box. Of course, this only applies if you're a PC player.
The community for this game is horrible, trust me. I don't know how old your son is, but you don't want him exposed to the vile and nasty comments from other players (and it will happen a lot).
-
I hope so.
The Solstice season is my favourite time of year. Maximum comfy vibes, even if I don't live in a place that snows during the season (or at all, really).
-
Boon Totems have limited range. Hex Totems do not.
Boon Totems can be snuffed out in two seconds. Hex Totems take fourteen *by default*, and can be increased.
The Killer can't be interrupted while snuffing out a Boon Totem. Survivors can be interrupted while cleansing a Hex Totem.
Boon Totems can be heard from a good distance away. Hex Totems can be heard from only a few meters away.
They are not equivalent. Stop trying to nerf Boon Totems based on the balancing of Hexes.

I woulda stopped the first time it happened.
Common sense does seem to be a rarity in the Dead by Daylight community.
-
Darkness Among Us, purely because of the menu's theme music and atmosphere.
It's such a shame it got replaced so quickly with the Solstice event 2018, and didn't return after the event ended.
Meanwhile, we had to put up with three months of bad accordion playing when Curtain Call came out...

Might I suggest english class
Might I suggest phrasing your complaint in a coherent way?

We didn't get anything for when Halloween 2018 came out, so it's unlikely we're going to get anything now.
-
The directional audio makes way more of a difference then I thought it would.
Playing against her actually feels manageable and fair now, and maybe even... enjoyable.

What about putting the firecrackers in pumpkin please do it we need firecrackers
We're not getting firecrackers. They've never been apart of the Halloween events (and aren't really associated with the Halloween season in general).
Wait until the Solstice, Lunar New Year and Anniversary events.

No. The community of this forum is horribly negative, and basically always has been.
Seems like a DBD thing in general to me, as the Reddit and Steam discussions are just as bad.
I'd stay well clear if I were you OP. The forums will only drag you down mentally.
-
Typically, its from being a consistent streamer who can maintain a positive (and somewhat decent sized) community. Then you have to hope a developer or someone else at BHVR tunes in and scouts you out.

So then people just need to wait til her perks get onto the Shrine. Got it.
*edit - I mean that's what they did with Hag right? Made you wait til the perks got into the shrine if you didn't want to buy her? So I don't see much difference here. Heck, you actually have MORE options here than you did with Hag.
Exactly, that's my point. OP is complaining about a non-issue that has been around for years.
-
I don't think it would be a good idea to permanently lock 100% achievement/trophy completion from future players. That would really suck.
Imagine not being able to platinum a game because you have no way of purchasing the Demogorgon, for example.
The achievements haven't been removed, they've been repurposed. All someone needs to do is look at the unlock date of your achievement, and they'll know that you got it back when it was the Stranger Things variant.

...what? Thrill? No, they didn't add "thrill" anything with the hag. All 3 of the hags perks were hexes.
Hex: Thrill of the Hunt was added for free in Patch 1.3.1, two days after the Hag released in Patch 1.3.0.

But i don't think you could get hag for with shards at the time
Indeed you couldn't. Iridescent Shards were used exclusively for the Shrine of Secrets until June 2018, where the in-game Store was introduced during the second anniversary Chapter release.
Even then, you could still get her perks on the Shrine during that time, and they did pop up.
I just looked through the Shrine's history, and each of the Hag's three perks showed at least five times each between her release (December 2016) and the Store's release (June 2018).
-
The maps themselves aren't disabled, just the corresponding offerings are. It's not nearly as bad as it seems.
-
Mikaela, just like all DBD original characters, is available for purchase through Iridescent Shards, a free currency. So it's not exclusively behind a paywall.
The addition of Boon perks are no different to the addition to Hex perks alongside the Hag, or Obsession perks alongside the Shape, or Scourge perks alongside the Cenobite, or even the extreme differences in gameplay between the various Killers to begin with.
Why is it suddenly an issue that it's a Survivor introducing a new mechanic this time?

If this is insinuating that the devs of dead by daylight are a few missed paychecks away from losing everything then we can add to the list that DBD doesn't pay its devs enough. sound fair?
Millions of people in developed nations are only a missed paycheck or two from poverty. That's by far not exclusive to DBD, or even the video game industry as a whole.
That's an inherent issue with capitalism, and simply playing your devs more is like applying a bandaid to a decapitation.

These particular outfits don't resemble actual Korean fashion, because they're not meant to.
Their Rift skins are based on Brazilian culture from what I've seen, not Korean.
The Trickster's shirt even has the classic yellow and green hybrid that the flag of Brazil features.

so the person that outs the racist gets banned and not the racist? Make it make sense please. It literally was like 5 of us in the chat saying the same guy is going around being extremely racist and its bannable to say that he is?
Contact. The. Mods.
It's not your job to try and out someone in public, it's there's. That's standard rules of basically every online community and forum, including these Forums.
-
Well yeah, that's pretty much what witchhunting is.
Why didn't you contact one of the mods directly to sort it out, instead of publicly outing someone (whether deservedly or not)?
Speaking as someone who personally has been banned from that server three times, you're not really in the right here.

Nope, just checked: steam is fine. It's on BHVR end.
Does seem that way, yeah.
My point does stand though. Valve does do routine maintenance around this time each Tuesdays. Just seems like this time it's on BHVR.
EDIT: Steam did go down a few minutes ago.
It's just that DBD coincidentally went down at the same time it looks like.
-
Steam is down for routine maintenance, just like it does around this time every Tuesday.
-
You probably won't get much mileage out of the directional audio change if you're not wearing headphones or using a surround sound speaker system.

in my opinied Bhvr workers just trying to do simple damaged controll nothing more, while waiting for the resons of the PR team which doing really poor job.
I can only belive that McLean didnt knew anything about it since he was leaving
You really think low level programmers, artists, PR and community teams are going to be privy to the exact business decisions made by the managers of the company?
That isn't how businesses work, let alone game development firms.
-
It's almost like the Boon perks weren't that great to begin with (certainly not enough to be meta), and the nerf to them from the PTB pushed them further into mediocrity.
Me calling this exaxt situation almost two weeks ago to my friends (The pfp is ironic, I swear).

@GentlemanFridge said:
Didn't they get turned into different ones? They didn't really "disappear", they merely transformed.
Just 'Where Did They Go' which is now 'The Key to Escape' (escape through the Hatch one time).
Adept Nancy, Steve and Demogorgon have been omitted entirely.

Shouldn't she have the clothes on when she disappeared on the bed? I was half watching the trailer, what was exactly happening?
Anyway, it's comforting that we haven't got a new male survivor with some chipmunk squealing for a shirtless skin and referring to them as 'Daddy'.
That was symbolism, she didn't actually get taken while in bed, she was nabbed during her performance on stage.
That said, the clothes she's wearing in the bed scene is the same as her default outfit. She's just not wearing her boots or jacket.
-
I've got about 50,000 Shards saved up, but I'm waiting for the Halloween cosmetics to drop first (and go down in price two days later, I'm not getting scammed again).
But this combination is very cute and what I'll be rocking when I decide to grab them.
-
He tried to fight a beehive and lost. It's still a sore point for him, please don't make fun of him for it. 😪
-
Some outfits just are exclusive to Auric Cells. It's always been that way.
Felix's Blighted outfit from last year in particular was Auric Cell exclusive, as is every other Blighted Cosmetic from 2019 and 2018 (as Putrid Serum no longer exists).
-
People are wary of the small connection already established, and even though I don't personally think it's a big deal, I can understand their frustration.
-
You say 'skipping out on' as if the Chapter is still upcoming and hasn't already been out for a month and a half.
-
Not really relevant to these forums.
You could just look it up, you know.
-
'TREATYOURSELF' for 100,000 BP.
-
She's an S tier Killer going down *at most* to A tier with the directional audio change. It's not an unreasonable nerf, there doesn't need to be a compromise.

Depends what the players want out of a game like VHS. The game is focused on teens having to confront the monster, not slam gens and leave. There's bound to be a good portion of DBD's player base that would enjoy a game can't be won by gen rushing or tunneling/face camping.
If people think playing Killer in DBD is frustrating, where all the Survivors can do is flee from you, they're going to have a much worse time in a game where the Survivors are actively encouraged to relentlessly gang up on you.
That's exactly what happened in F13 and Last Year, to endless complaints.
-
@BlackRabies said:
Because the pinhead and witch survivor are 2 separate chapters or paragraphs not a full chapter. Last time this happened that I can remember is leather face and kate.
Kate released alongside Clown in Chapter 8.
Leatherface was Chapter 5.5. The Nightmare on Elm street and SAW chapters are between them.

No it's not they do it with every game. And Microsoft has dbd available on game pass for both Xbox and PC still no cross progression.
So what is it, then?
There already is cross-progression between Steam and Stadia, and Switch has been officially announced to be joining them soon.
So obviously its not BHVR being unable to do it out of incompetence, because they have already done it for Steam and Stadia.
Do you think BHVR is intentionally leaving PS and XB players in the dust out of malice or something? Because it seems to me that it is more likely an issue with Sony and Microsoft.
-
Well looping only works in the first place because it takes advantage of the Killer's larger hitbox slowing them down when running around tight corners, which I doubt was intentionally designed that way.
-
Yep. That's the general consensus on the forums. Has been since the Chapter released honestly, because the Patch Notes specified it was a 'Changes From PTB' and not a 'Known Issue', which told us two things. A, it wasn't a bug, and B, they weren't coming back.
License issues were the most obvious culprit.

COD was MUCH older, was a complete legend of a game and still died in large part to sbmm, idk what the hell BHVR is thinking
COD? Call of Duty? You mean the series that pumps out a new game annually and has done so every year since 2005? That COD?
Every single Call of Duty title ceases support the moment their year is over and the next title has released. Maybe you'll get minute bug patches and small content updates, but that's it.
That doesn't help your point.

It's mostly because people take lvl 1 character or low lvls and then last second take their main and just destroy killers, feels wrong you know?
Uh.. no. I don't.
Unless the Survivor is explicitly wearing Prestige/Legacy clothing (which most don't in my experience, especially the latter), the Killer has no way of knowing what level that players Survivor is.
The absolute most quick-switching can do is provide pre-loaded add-ons onto an item of your choice. Which isn't a big deal, as it only takes a couple of seconds to equip the item and your preferred add-ons anyway.
-
Well, that's fine.
The game's over five years old. That's pretty good for a Multiplayer only PVP title. Many don't last that long, before wrapping development and moving onto a sequel.

bruh you guys were complaining about NFTs because they are horrible for the environment yet simp for Funkos which waste a ######### ton of plastic unnecesarily. Make up your minds already.
People (rather hastily) complained about NFTs because they were concerned about the possibility of locking gameplay content behind cryptocurrency. The environmental impact it has was a minute complaint.
Also, there's a difference between pop culture memorabilia and the stupid concept of somehow purchasing rights to a JPG.
-
It was removed to accommodate for separate matchmaking rating (MMR) per Killer, which was a feature people wanted for years.
As for Survivors, there's absolutely nothing wrong with quick switching. Survivors are all cosmetic, there's no advantage to be gained from quick switching, and I don't understand the complaints about it.
-
It switches to specific hours once it gets below 24, I believe.
EDIT: Indeed. It just ticked over a couple minutes ago.
So it closes at 11:00AM EST on the 13th, which makes sense as that also happens to be Grade reset time (and usually the time patches drop also).
-
OP really forgot Bill. 😞
For him, I would choose the most iconic character in the entirety of video game history.
-
It's a known fake. It popped up a couple months ago alongside a supposed Spiral Saw chapter.
-
It was pretty obvious from the get go that the removal had something to do with licensing, because it was in the 'Changes from PTB' section of the patch notes instead of 'Known Issues', so it wasn't a bug. The fact that the forum mods only stance on it was saying they couldn't talk about it just made it even more concrete.
