  • Game's fine. I've not seen any issues at all, besides the fact that Ghoul is still in the game.

  • While I'm annoyed that my home of Australia is still not represented 9 years in, DBD as a whole is still very diverse.

How many games feature characters from nations like Argentina, Chile, Jamaica, Sweden, Lebanon, Madagascar, etc.

Oceania and (mainland) Africa are still rather lacking though.

Isn't the create your own chapter a community suggestion for upcoming content?

It's a gimmick where the community picks from already pre-approved concepts that BHVR came up with.

They aren't letting us make something up from scratch.

It's like the difference between a Multiple Choice Answer test vs a free form essay structure.

  • Saying Wraith is getting done dirty is crazy when he's one of very few characters that actually has an Masquerade outfit at all. Really, the only other characters that have this are Haddie, Dredge, Nea, Hillbilly, Bill, Unknown and now David.

What is actually getting done dirty is Jake and Claudette being two of the original survivors (been in the game just as long as Wraith has) but being skipped out on three years in a row for a mask.

  • The Twitter crowd treat Skull Merchant as if she was a real person and not a fictional video game character. It displays a frankly very concerning depiction of their mental state, that they would take a small joke as a genuine slight and respond with actual attacks on a real person.

To be expected of Twitter I'm afraid. Not that most other platforms are much better, but…

That's my point exactly, lol. Most patchesback then had alot of stuff that was complete cancer. I think they've done well on toning that down so its just annoyingly strong stuff instead. I feel like MOST people who want to re-experience the goodies they had back then will get a wakeup call once they remember the cancer the OTHER side had too.

Nostalgia blind is a helluva thing.

It irks me badly when people lament about the 'good ol' days' and how badly they want it back. Like, are we remembering the same game? It barely functioned lol

We have it so good now. Revert it to 2016-2019 era and the game would die in a month from people finsing out/remembering how bad the game was back then.

  • I like her. She's here for like two weeks a year, it's not a big deal.

Hope she returns this year. Shame she's probably gone after this one along with the Masquerade theme.

  • There is a reason that these things got changed 😭

People may think this is a good idea, but it's not. They won't be laughing when 15 seconds in they get infinited by every single survivor, or heal themselves faster than you can go through the attack wipe cooldown.

Old DBD belongs in the past I'm afraid. Trying to bring it back for the sake of nostalgia would be a pointless waste of resources when everyone realises how unfun it is after a single match and returns to normal queues.

The game now is far superior to how it was in the past, both mechanically and in presentation.

  • Female elk in real life do not grow antlers; ergo the Were-Elk skin, which very much has antlers is (most likely) male.

AFAIK the only species of deer-adjacent that females grow antlers are reindeer.

  • The official stance is, last I checked, 'we don't care and won't ban you for it, but we also won't help you if the auto anti-cheat picks it up and bans you; use at your own caution and risk'.

  • The game is in probably the best state it's ever been.

I've been playing since beta, and the game now just feels better. So many maps, killers, survivors and perks to sink your teeth into, a whole conglomeration of your favourite characters from other media, and now we're even getting other game modes besides the default.

The recent death of the Archives sucks big time, but everything else in the past few years, besides outliers like Pinhead and Ghoul, I approve.

  • Feature. She's the first survivor that other survivors can hear.

Not sure if the killer can.

  • 10 Iridescent Shards per week.

To earn the 9,000 Shards needed to purchase a single unlicensed character, it would take 900 weeks (17 years, 3 months).

To earn the 21,600 Shards needed to purchase a single Very Rare outfit, it would take 2160 weeks (41 years, 5 months).

    It's a joke reward.

See you guys in October 2066 when I can afford to buy the latest Feng Min skin.

  • New system really sucks.

I have zero incentive to play more than one match a day, because that's all it takes to do the daily challenges. Since passive Rift progress has been gimped, there's no point playing when there's no challenges available.

'Complete three generator skill checks'? Wow BHVR, pulling out all the stops here. For 2,500 Bloodpoints too? I can get a whole brown Medkit for that!

    image.png
  • You've only completed three tasks. The 'fourth' is the weekly reward for completing the three tasks.

Note that the numbers are all divisible by 4, not 5. Because each week only has four task, with the fifth being the reward.

  • You going to regulate Xbox and PlayStation parties next?

How about sending in SWAT teams to break up people playing together in the same actual room. Set up a noiseproof screen between their televisions?

  • @DeBecker said:

Dont know how you guys do math I get the following:

    45 level by Rift pass

    37 level by Daily

    38 level by Milestone

    = 120 level in total

additionaly 0.05 level per 250 XP

The problem with that is the Dailies are limited by, well, being daily.

If you don't complete the three Daily tasks on a specific day, those Fragments are gone permanently.

So for example, if you completed all 12 Rift Pass weeks for the 45 tiers, and got the 38 tiers from finishing all Milestones, that's still only putting you at tier 83/100.

Those last 17 tiers will have to be made up through Dailies, which give 45 Fragments each day. That's about 37 separate days of completing all three Daily Tasks.

If my maths is correct, which it very may well not be (I'm bad at math), it is not possible to complete the Rift if you start with less than 37 days left before it closes. There simply is not enough Fragments because you missed out on the first 50 days.

  • I don't see the problem.

The Iridescent Emblems are supposed to be awarded only for exemplary play. Escaping alive without once going down the entire trial falls in that category in my books.

Heck, just escaping at all already guarantees a Gold Emblem. Why are we trying to lower the standards for the highest tier?

Getting an Iridescent Emblem is supposed to be an uncommon event, and getting all four at once is supposed to be a monumental achievement.

  • Anyone who wants Legacy to return misses the whole point of its existence. This is a very tired debate that the devs have made their stance firmly clear on years ago.

Getting a character to P100 because there's a reward for it is against the point of Legacy.

People played the game and participated in the (massive grind) because they enjoyed the game in its infancy and wanted it to succeed. No one did it for the sake of a cosmetic award, because no such thing existed.

Legacy was a gift to early players who supported the game without any obligation, however cosmetic, to have done so.

And no, the anniversary crowns, and any other event cosmetics given out since, are not comparable. It took 0 effort to get them, and you knew from the start that they were (initially) a time gated reward so you had incentive to grind for them, unlike Legacy.

  • 'This game is DOA'? Dead on arrival?

Because I'm pretty sure it 'arrived' almost 9 years ago now, and it's pretty far from dead to this day.

Unless there's a separate meaning for that acronym I'm unaware of.

  • There are 59 maps in the game. Meaning you effectively have a less than 2% chance to roll this specific map without offerings or outside modifiers.

If you want to see it more often, bring the Ormond offering to up that to effectively 25% (you can still occasionally not get the realm you brought the offering for if the game feels like it).

That wouldnt matter.. South America shares the same time zones as North America, minus some parts being 1 hour ahead of EST. Being from the New York area, I get paired with people from South America all the time and killers usually have 100-200 MS ping.

Not my point, I wasn't referring to time zone discrepancies.

I meant that depending on the time of day you are playing at, there may or may not be less players active in your local area which means your matchmaking would necessitate expanding outwards to find lobbies with players from further away, even if those players share the same time zone.

Like I said, I get lobbies with a bunch of Pacific Asian players, many of whom share the same time zone as I do.

  • What hours of the day are you playing it?

If it's the middle of the day (or very late at night), a lot of people are going to be at work/school in your region and you're going to have a tough time finding enough people close to you consistently.

I have the same issue here in Australia. I get matched with players from Pacific Asia all the time depending on what time of day I'm playing at.

Trying to play the game after like 9pm is no bueno.

  • The green checkmark indicates you have that cosmetic, in this case the sweater, currently equipped on that character.

As for Jill's sweater, I don't recall it ever being given out for free. It only costs 250 Auric Cells which is fairly cheap, so perhaps you just bought it at some point and forgot.

  • Yeah, I usually don't bother playing after like, 8pm. Not enough players in the region active so it starts expanding the matchmaking and throws me into Singapore or Indonesian lobbies or something.

With the recent collaboration I think we also have a good chance fore the wendigo from until dawn too.

What collaboration are you talking about?

If you mean The Casting of Frank Stone, Supermassive Games only developed Until Dawn; that IP is owned by Sony, and the new remake of the game didn't involve Supermassive at all.

  • It was removed because the game is over. There's no point trying to unhook yourself when the Killer has zero reason to leave the hook. You'd just get downed immediately and put back on, which is a waste of time for all parties involved.

At least if you're the last Survivor but downed instead of hooked, you have the chance, as slim as it is, to crawl into the hatch, so it made sense that you wouldn't just die immediately upon going down. That doesn't apply in this scenario.

Even worse was when the last Survivor didn't attempt to unhook, and instead just sat there for the full minute wasting the Killer's time on purpose.

    This was a good change.

  • Did you make sure to claim the rewards online on BHVR's website?

    Sign in here: https://account.bhvr.com/

Make sure your corresponding platform is linked in the Connections tab.

    image.png

Then in the Game Library tab, go into DBD's menu and then into the Rewards tab.

Any rewards you have available to claim will be there, including Hooked on You & The Casting of Frank Stone.

    image.png

Side note, this is a hilarious warning lol

    image.png
  • Windowed (and Borderless whenever available) are meant for ease of alt tabbing. Fullscreen is when your computer focuses directly on the application, giving it extra processing power at the cost of it being cumbersome to tab out.

  • It's not supposed to. I don't think you're getting that.

For everyone else, it was a one time pop up that they cleared in two seconds and never had to deal with again. This is a you problem, and is why people are saying you are overreacting.

Have you ever edited the config files for the game at all, to uncap your framerate or anything similar? If so, that may be your problem.

For months, I would get the notification about the new prestige system every single time I booted the game, and none of my keybinds or audio changes would persist between sessions.

The problem was my config file was set to read only, something I had done to unlock my frame cap and subsequently forgot about.

Check to see if you share this problem.

  • Have you made sure to link your Steam and Xbox accounts to your Behaviour Account and actually enabled the setting on the website?

Has anything else transferred besides the cosmetics?

Does that work for in game currency? Kinda want to know since when cross progression hits I'm going to port over to my steam deck.

It does not. The Auric Cell purchases can only be made in-game. You can't buy them outside the game on the Steam store, where sales occur.

  • Yes, BHVR is very inconsistent with treating the original four characters equally.

Jake usually gets the short end of the stick, often being replaced by Nea or Feng in collections and promos that feature Dwight, Meg and Claudette.

  • image.png

Every Survivor achievement in the game plus a large chunk of Killer ones.

The achievements missing are all for Killers from the last few years. Just don't enjoy Killer enough to want to go for them all.

ah i see, but the downside is you miss out on the bundle they sometimes include with purchasing the dlc outright.

This is true, but ever since the release of Kate way back in 2018, you only ever miss out on a single recolour of the survivor's default torso, which is negligible as the store has about a dozen more cheap variants of the same cosmetic for each survivor.

The only ones that are actually worth buying the chapter for are the survivors released before Kate. That is, Laurie, Ace, Feng, David, Quentin and Tapp, since they all came with a separate unique full outfit.

  • The Nurse and Huntress were added before the addition of (non-licensed) characters becoming available to be purchased with Iridescent Shards.

Play long enough and it is indeed free. It's fair to me; doesn't take that long to accumulate 9,000 shards as long as you don't spend them on Shrine perks or frivolous cosmetics.

  • I like it.

The way it is now, every female survivor is short and every male survivor is tall. While its the standard in real life, it's definitely not realistic that one of the two dozen female survivors are of a taller than average height.

Works double that Aestri isn't actually human anyway so she wouldn't apply to the 'all women are short' philosophy BHVR seemingly had up to this point.

  • Only in DBD have I ever seen people genuinely complaining about other people playing the game with their friends instead of by theirself.

I'm sure it happens elsewhere, just only seen it here.

They made the Rift very easy to complete. I dont think it is possible to not complete the Rift at this point, except if you are VERY inactive and almost not playing at all. They even made it easier recently with Rift Fragments added after 500 XPs. So people who play the game active might have already finished it or are close to being finished.

E.g. I am now at Tier 74 or something like that. And this is the usual case for me, I complete the Rift either shortly before or during Tome Level 3. So everything which comes with Rift Fragments (Login Bonusses, Double Rift Fragments, Challenges) becomes useless for those players. And you dont even have to grind for it, you just have to like the game and play it for a 2 or 3 hours a day. And it always feels a bit like being left out.

    @Topic:

    I opened this thread yesterday:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/415016/please-add-infinite-rift-tiers-already

It is basically the second point. Just a few BPs in the free track and a few Iri Shards in the paid track would do the trick. This should 100% be a thing and I am surprised they did not add this with their latest changes which made the Rift even faster and easier to complete.

"And you dont even have to grind for it, you just have to like the game and play it for a 2 or 3 hours a day."

Friend, that IS a grind. Playing a single game three hours a day, every single day, is not normal.

I have a million other games, and other things to do.

The Rift is supposed to take you three months to complete. Anyone who plays the game 20+ hours a week has no right to complain when they get left out of things meant for other players to catch up with.

  • It's not intended for people who grind the Rift in the first week it comes out.

There's still over 50 days left in the Rift. How on earth is it already considered 'late' when it only opened less than a month ago.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

My reckoning is that it goes back to the "choose your role" parts of DnD. Someone may wish to be an elven bard, whilst another may want a human bard, based on what skillsets they have. I believe this is simply for a "choose an adventurer" reason.

On the plus side, this brings in the second survivor who isn't a typical human! Gabriel bucked the trend by being a clone, which is still human but not in the traditional sense, and now this elven bard could well be the another sign of future survivors not being just regular humans. We could be seeing synths, mutants ... heck, if ever a Fallout chapter happened in future, "The Ghoul" could even be a survivor!

Very excited for all of this!

    >On the plus side, this brings in the second survivor who isn't a typical human!

Cheryl is a reincarnated split soul, Lisa is a lingering spirit given form, and Maria is a physical manifestation of a man's trauma and instability.

  • Wraith is just some dude named Phillip 😂

  • Here's one of mine. The old lobby screen and UI, from January 2017 during the tail end of the winter 'event' (it was literally just snow on the main menu).

    image.png

There were only six Killers (Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Myers & Hag) and seven Survivors (Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake, Nea, Laurie & Ace) at this time.

  • Coach legendary skin for Bill.

    image.png
  • Listening to that just unlocked a long forgotten memory of mine from DBD Year One.

    Good times.

  • I can't be the only one who is tired of people constantly going 'well Otz says this' and 'Otz' new video shows that' as if he's Mr. Dead by Daylight himself, instead of formulating their own opinions based off their own experiences.

  • I assume it's intentional, so you're not forced to play the opposite role and/or do specific challenges if you don't want to.

  • Dude. There's already literally a button that buys the entire web with one click. Between that and the one click node route purchases, there's already barely any effort or interaction with the bloodwebs. We do not need to automate every single thing.

No one's making you sit on the main menu for 15 minutes spending all your BP before each match. Spend it while you're actively queuing.

  • Perhaps something in the latest update conflicts with whatever software is being used to stream the game. Has this happened at all off camera? What about in other games using the same anticheat? A concerning thought considering the recent Apex debacle.

I've not seen any other complaints about recent performance issues either from people I know or online. Not more than the usual, at least.

  • @shalo said:

Some bad ones on the Survivor side too:

Hide in the Killer's terror radius for 120 seconds, ie. throw the game.

Apply hindered to the Killer 3 times in 1 trial. That's Champion of Light or Chemical Trap 3 times in 1 trial.

    >Hide in the Killer's terror radius for 120 seconds, ie. throw the game.

    Huh?

The terror radius is big. You can be making progress to this challenge while repairing a generator because the killer is chasing a different survivor at a nearby loop.

You're acting like you need to be crouched in a corner and following the killer to get this. You don't even have to do it in one trial either.

I got this on my first try playing no differently to how I usually do.
