I asked for them to cease treating Jake like an unwanted step child out of the four original Survivors.
-
Jeez. That's messed up, and oddly in character for BHVR.
Hope you get this all resolved quickly.
-
I'll swap.
Just got Sheltered Woods three times in a row. Could not get any worse. 😔

If they don't deny it VERY soon, as in tomorrow at the latest or maybe monday, I'm taking that as confirmation.
BHVR doesn't work weekends. It's unlikely that we'll see anything from them officially until their office opens up on Monday.

Looks like a rumour about licensing issues and 'NFTs' has gotten the DBD community all riled up over very little credible evidence. Again.
Looks like an incredibly obvious hoax personally. I love seeing this community have ut another meltdown over something that hasn't been proved.
-
The whole point is to encourage players to play both roles, because it's basically impossible to have an objective well-rounded opinion of an asymmetrical competitive game if you only ever play half of it.

They are not as distorted, just ‚older‘-styled clothes with blight stuff on them.
the first batch were Claudette and Dwight I think? Jake got an Outfit the second year. Yui, David and Felix also have some, probably more? Was that Feng outfit blighted?
The Hallowed Blight in 2018 brought an outfit for Dwight, Claudette, Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Doctor & Huntress.
The Withering Blight in 2019 brought an outfit for Jake, Nurse, Hag, Clown, Spirit & Plague. The Nurse's outfit in particular was only available in the Rift (Tome 1), and wouldn't be released to the store until the following year.
The Eternal Blight in 2020 brought an outfit for Feng, David, Yui, Felix, Legion, Ghost Face & Blight. David's outfit in particular was only available in the Rift (Tome 5) and has remained so since, though it's likely going to pop up in the store during this upcoming event.

He's very irritating to play against.
Even worse, he's not that good. He's unfun to play against and not even good to begin with.
Reminds me of old Doctor.

That change was implemented in Patch 5.1.0. It's already in the game.

I doubt there's many games at all with one million concurrent players.
For example, I believe Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the most selling game of all time on the Steam platform, and the peak for that game was 1.3M concurrent players two years ago (current is just shy of 600K).
In comparison, Dead by Daylight's all time peak is 105,093 players (during the Resident Evil Chapter release no less), and current is 40,000. Now this is just Steam's numbers of course, but somehow I doubt PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and Stadia can make up another 960,000 players to hit that one million mark.
For what it is worth, DBD is indeed #10 on Xbox's most concurrent players list and #15 on PlayStation's (as of May 2021), so there's probably at least a decently sized playerbase there.

So much *entitlement* and petulant whining in this thread. I'd like to say I'm astonished, but at this point...
Never change, DBD forums.

Believe it or not, that's been the trend for years now.
Dwight, Claudette, Feng, Meg, Nea and Felix are usually the ones to get nice skins or even a skin at all.
Zarina, Yui, Jane, Jeff, Adam and Jake never get anything. Especially Jake, who always gets the short end of the stick among the 4 originals.
I think it's because they're popular while the others are not. Sad as it may sound, we just have to deal with it in a capitalist society.
Especially Jake, who always gets the short end of the stick among the 4 originals.
Seriously. It took until Tome 8 for him to get featured, while Dwight, Meg and Claudette were in the first four Tomes and Survivors who came out years after (Jane, Kate and Yui in particular) were featured before him.
It's genuinely surprising that Meg is the one without a Blighted outfit and not Jake, considering he gets shafted on basically everything else out of the four.

You're just making light of a perfectly balanced killer getting nerfed is all. I just assumed you thought he was OP in some way.
There's a difference in wanting something to be changed because it is too powerful and wanting something to be changed because it's not fun to go against and is unhealthy for the game.
Deathslinger falls into the latter category. He's not OP by any means, but he isn't fun to go against for many players because there's a lack of engaging counter play to his ability.

Oh it's so easy to play it neutral.
Take a stand for Christ's Sake.
All this wall of text just to say "well, we'll see, I will not say either way is right or wrong but will tell you why people from both sides are wrong"
That's so childish and demonstrates a lack of character
Being neutral and willing to understand both sides of an issue is hardly childish.
What is childish is incessant complaining about things that haven't been released and have barely any details on. See these forums the past few days (and before every update).
-
That's just my uninformed assumption. I'm no character artist or 3D modeller, so I'm just going off my limited knowledge of how it works.
I may be wrong entirely.
-
She's pretty adorable, but she's yet another 20-30 something year old female Survivor, just like the last five originals (Yun-Jin, Élodie, Zarina, Yui and Jane). Pretty uncreative at this point.
When are we going to see an older woman as a Survivor (there's three older men for contrast).
Or even just a male Survivor at all. Six of the last seven original Survivors were women, we're starving for a new original male.

Why do they look extremely low res
Looks like they've grabbed the actual 3D models to pose them for a raw screenshot, instead of natively rendering them like with the old portraits.
Those are directly in-game screenshots I took personally in the PTB. It indeed looks like that in-game, if you were having doubts.

Do we? Does survivor have some NOED equivalent? Those hacker stuns that take like 30 seconds to end are a perk now?
No. The two Boon Perks aren't nearly as strong as people were making them out to be (who would'a thought).
The first one gives you double healing speed when within 28 meters of your Boon totem, and lets you heal without a Medkit.
The second hides your scratch marks and auras when within 28 meters of your Boon totem, and lasts for four seconds after leaving that range.
Neither are that great, because they're heavily restricted by having to be near your Boon totem. I do like the idea of being able to 'set up camp' per se, by moving your blessed totem to a new area to give yourself an opportunity to heal in peace.

i would completely been fine with this if it wasnt for the fact even tho "ranks" arent a thing anymore im still being paired with killers that are NOT my skill level. like i went against a hag who knew exactly how to use the killer whilst my teammates didnt get the concept of if the killer picks up she can teleport to traps...
Killers have separate MMR values.
You likely played against an experienced player who specialises in other Killers but is trying out Hag for the first time, so their Hag MMR specifically would be low and would match them with newer players.

This is the kind of enthusiasm more people should have on these forums.
Everywhere you go is just pessimists and doomsayers freaking out over nothing.
Good thread OP.
-
Only the DBD community would complain this incessantly about such a minute change like a .15s increase in something.
.25 or .40, it doesn't matter. Both are way faster then the average human reaction time, and that is *before* you factor in latency.
This community needs to grow up.

Tunneling? Sure. Camping? Eh. I guess technically... But like, nothing worth mentioning, really.
Killers will be incentivised to camp much harder if they know they can knock a Survivor out of the match in barely more time then it takes a generator to be repaired. It will absolutely increase how often you see campers.

Nope. Mandy recently posted that a Survivor with a Boon Totem can overwrite a lit Hex Totem.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2524634/#Comment_2524634
That's an oof.
Hopefully it takes the same amount of time to bless a totem as it does to destroy it at least.
-
but the removal of quick shots is uncalled for.
There is 0.4s from you starting the aim animation to being able to fire. Up from like 0.25 or whatever it was before.
0.4 seconds. 400 milliseconds. Barely noticeable. When you factor in latency, the Survivor is still going to have no time to dodge.
-
I assumed that Survivors could only bless dull totems, because the Developer Update specifies:
...the Killer can also quickly interact with the created Boon Totem to completely remove the associated blessing, *once again turning it into a dull totem*...
Hopefully we can get a Mod to clear things up for us.

You might be right and I hope you are. But then it means that the effect of the perk is mostly useless and what survivor is going to run that instead of the typical DS, UB, SB/DH, Adrenaline, BT, etc, etc that are already super strong anyways?
Even so, it feels strange to have something designed like that, survivors apply it endlessly, and the killer has to go out of their way to get rid of it temporarily.
I guess we'll see.
Well that's an issue with the design and balance of those perks to begin with, and it isn't exclusive to Boon perks. Every other perk is overshadowed by the meta 6-7.
The team does seem to realise this at least, judging by the nice buffs to weaker perks in today's and Friday's devs updates.
I have faith in the devs, they're not going to add a ridiculously powerful Boon perk that can be reactivated over and over.

Idk I feel like I having one extremely pretty female survivor wouldn’t kill them 😭not everyone has to be ugly to be realistic like pretty people do exist.
The majority of the female (and male to be honest) Survivors are conventionally attractive. None of them are supermodels, but none of them are ugly.
-
How about we wait and see what the actual effects of the Boon perks are before we all freak out about the mechanic.
Chances are, the bonuses they provide to Survivors isn't going to be that great to the point of the Killer feeling like they're forced to put a stop to it immediately.

20 seconds isn't exactly a slow recharge time for the 2nd best ability in the game.
Also no accurate source of info? Do sounds and moving foliage not count? Am I just the luckiest man alive to get that happening and it's actually an incredibly rare bug?
Considering the complaints about the Stridor nerf, you'd think that the sounds of footsteps, Survivor breathing, scratch marks and blood trails don't exist.
Without injured grunts that can be heard from 20 meters away, Survivors are basically invisible!

so if survivors dont like playing against a ceratin killer then that killer should be nerfed into the ground?
If a Killer has poorly designed aspects to them that invoke frustration in the opposition because it doesn't provide an opportunity for any interactivity or counter play, then yeah, something should change.
The same thing applies to Perks, Add-ons, Items and Offerings **on both sides**. I'm not a hypocrite, I'm very vocal about wanting Dead Hard to be changed because the ability to gain free distance at the press of a single button isn't fun to go against.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know a killer with absolutely no map pressure, 110% speed, has a very small hitbox with a bullet that fires as hard as a charged Huntress shot (that is also incredibly inconsistent and gets ######### over by Dead Hard), and now a Terror Radius that is LARGER than the range his gun will allow having some kind of advantage that is entirely up to the skill of the killer pllaying it is bad game design.
Changes shouldn't be made based on how fun something is. but how balanced it is.
If we made changes based on how "fun" they are to play against, we would have to see Unbreakable, Decisive Strike and BT gutted. Because I sure as hell don't have "fun" playing with these perks that appears in every game I play.
Do note that I never said I agree with the specific changes they made to Deathslinger, so your initial rant is irrelevant. I even elaborated on my thoughts in another comment a few minutes ago (the thread about why nerf Deathslinger instead of Pyramid Head), so feel free to check that out if you wish.
Changes shouldn't be made based on how fun something is. but how balanced it is.
A balanced game doesn't mean anything when no one plays it because it's a boring, tedious and miserable gameplay loop.
If we made changes based on how "fun" they are to play against, we would have to see Unbreakable, Decisive Strike and BT gutted.
I'm down for that. You also forgot to mention Dead Hard (god I hate facing that perk, takes no skill).

That poorly designed gameplay mechanics should be fixed?
Is that a contentious opinion now?
-
They're not nerfing Deathslinger because he's broken or too powerful, they're nerfing him because he's not fun to play against.
His zoning provides no opportunity to the Survivor to dodge, because the speed he can aim and fire is far quicker then any normal human's reaction time. You don't dodge a Deathslinger shot, he just choked it.
Pyramid Head's ranged attack and zoning has far more counterplay and interactivity to it. Counterplay and interactivity generally means more fun for both sides (one of the main complaints of old Spirit was her standing still "mindgame", for example), which means less complains against Pyramid Head, even though he's stronger.
You don't see many people complaining about Oni or Blight even though they're both strong Killers, and that's because they're fun to play against in the same ways I mentioned Pyramid Head is.
-
No.
They're losing the license to sell any content relating to the Stranger Things brand. Anything you already own you'll be allowed to keep, but you won't be able to purchase anything new.

Forcing a head pop?
Presumably referring to preventing a trapped Survivor from accessing the last Jigsaw box as the Pig.
-
Great idea!
Screw PC players who will now have to deal with significantly longer queue times because of the massively decreased playerbase, and also screw Console players who can now no longer play with their PC friends because that aspect of crossplay has been disabled.
-
If you have an accident or emergency that necessitates you having to stop playing immediately, I doubt a little five minute disconnect penalty will matter.
If you're back online and ready to play less than five minutes later, it hardly was a big emergency.
-
The ones on licensed characters are presumably due to contractual agreements on how those characters will be depicted.
The ones on non-licensed characters tend to be outfits that don't have easy separation points at the neck and waist, usually dresses and hoodies.
Some people seem to be convinced BHVR makes certain cosmetics sets for 'no reason' or 'out of spite', which is absolutely ridiculous.
-
@Mooks said:

I still think that Adam gets super great cosmetics - quality-wise and not quantity-wise though.
but true about poor Jeff..
I don't even play either of them, but I still can sense the anguish Jeff and Adam mains (all nine or so of them) feel when yet another cosmetic theme is announced for Nea, Feng, David, Dwight and/or Kate.
Stuck in a perpetual cycle of no one playing Jeff and Adam because they don't have good cosmetics, and BHVR not giving them good cosmetics because no one plays them.
-
It's a cool idea and theme if true, but I can't help but feel disappointed that it's looking like we're getting yet another female Survivor.
Out of the last six (soon to be seven) non-licensed Survivors, only one was male (Felix). Before him was Jeff, released almost three years ago now, and we all know how poorly Jeff (and Adam!) is treated cosmetic wise.
Oh well. Maybe next time.
-
No.
It's been suggested many times through out the years, but tying perks and other abilities to specific Survivors is a poor idea. You're just going to start seeing the same 6-7 'meta' Survivors (just like with perks), because people won't want to feel like they're at a disadvantage because their favourite Survivor isn't as good as another.
Let Survivor choice remain purely preference. There's nothing wrong with that.
I already have everything unlocked with Feng, and I really have no desire to do that over and over again.
Then don't? Survivors are identical gameplay wise, there's absolutely nothing incentivising players from getting all perks on every Survivor.
