Ghost Face and Hellraiser are not Paragraphs due to the timing of their releases falling in line with the normal release schedule. That is both the short and true answer. Is it disappointing? Yes, but disregarding the truth just because it doesn't fit your narrative doesn't change the facts.
As long as they don't do what they did with Ghost Face and release Pinhead as a full-priced chapter, I'm not going to complain (and yes, Ghost Face was almost 8 dollars at first, I have no idea when they changed it, but I very clearly remember paying that much for him).
SteamDB says that the Ghost Face DLC has always remained at the same price since launch barring occasional discounts, that being $4.99 USD. Even in my own currency (AUD) it has always remained the same price at $7.50.
You may be misremembering.
-
🤷♂️
GhostFace is apparently considered Chapter 12, despite not being referred to as such at all on the Store page (at least on Steam).
So it's not a first.

OP didn't give details, but for example, someone thought the sale was the 10% off, and then today the 50% off started, and there was terrible communication around it. Additionally it wasn't clear from the beginning how or where the sale would work.
Then that is completely their own fault, because we have known for three days now exactly when the sale would start, what would be discounted, and by how much. It was posted on all their socials well before it started.

speaking of which aren't they always set at "10% off" because I have never seen it at the full price.
Bulk discount. It incentivises consumers to spend more money in total because buying several things at once is slightly more cost efficient then buying them separately. Very common marketing technique in basically every industry.

If it was just a survivor instead of the killer nobody would have complained
uhh... no? That's absolutely not true.
The first time we got a solo Survivor, Bill, was a free content update and not a Chapter.
The second time, Ash, was explicitly in-between Chapters 11 & 12, and did not take up either slot.
Why would you think people would complain less about minimal content... in a situation where we would have even less content than now?
-
I'm not sure what you mean. You're wearing the pants in the picture...?

@DeadByFrameLag, Yeah totally my fault, that my connection random crashes for no reason. Next time I will tell me connection to not crash!
It's not your fault, but it's also not the fault of the four players left behind in the match now ruined because of your disconnection.
It's not fair to anyone forced to play with you.

No, I was referring to the problems that should be addressed, a dedication to the state of the game, the optimization problems on consoles is an example and should be priority before seeing an "icon" is popular or not. I also like Pinhead and Candyman, only that with the leaks everything pointed to Candyman but it fell suddenly with Pinhead being the new killer.
...what leaks pointed to Candyman?
Because all the teasers were obvious allusions to Hellraiser, and the leaks I keep up with weren't indicating to either.

Demise of the Faithful is Chapter 11. Stranger Things was Chapter 13. Ash vs. the Evil Dead was released at an odd time, like paragraphs usually were (Left Behind shortly before Spark of Madness and Leatherface shortly before Nightmare on Elm Street).
Unlike the other three paragraphs, Ghost Face is a pseudo-licensed character and was released for the 3rd year anniversary, falling perfectly in line with when Chapter 12 should release. A Chapter that is mysteriously missing.
Plus, there is the fact that it used to cost the same as a full Chapter.
I never said it isn't Chapter 12. I said it isn't being marketed as such, which is odd because the Hellraiser DLC has the same amount of content yet is fully being advertised as Chapter 21.

The whole paragraph thing was removed a while ago, Ghostface was a chapter actually.
No where on the Ghost Face DLC store page is 'Chapter' mentioned (at least on Steam). It wasn't advertised as a Chapter like the one preceding it (Demise of the Faithful) or the one succeeding it (Stranger Things).
This applies to the other three Paragraphs as well.
If the developers consider Ghost Face to be a chapter, that's certainly not indicated in their marketing.

You know Ghost Face was advertised as a chapter initially, right?
I wasn't aware of this, if true. It doesn't matter though, because it currently is not advertised as a full chapter, like Chapter 21 currently is despite having the same amount of content.
-
@Predated said:
You do realize that a chapter isnt neccesarily about the whole package, right? Let alone that the new chapter is still gonna release quite soon. But DBD has plenty of maps, I still rather have them balance existing maps rather than adding a new one. I mean, you do realize that if Pinhead came with a map, it would once again be a licensed map that is obviously going to be quite unbalanced because of it being a licensed map?
We've had one map in the past five Chapters. We're not even getting a realm rework this Chapter as far as I'm aware, which was the excuse for why Chapters 17, 18 & 19 didn't have one.
This is a Paragraph being released as a full Chapter. The previous four Paragraphs (Left Behind, Leatherface, Ash vs Evil Dead & Ghost Face) were released between Chapters.
-
Definitely seems like a let down compared to Chapter 20.
One Killer with three perks is quite a bit lesser then one Killer with three perks, two Survivors with six perks and a new map.
They're not even advertising it as a Paragraph, like with Ghost Face and Leatherface. This is a full Chapter, apparently.
-
They'll reappear occasionally in the Shrine of Secrets, albeit with the icons and descriptions edited to remove all references to Stranger Things.
The same thing that happened with Bill's and the NOES perks before they were multi-platform.

He is, to my knowledge, the only major horror icon (aside from Leprechaun, and calling him a major horror icon is a pretty big stretch) that's always been played by the same actor. I may be wrong but none of the other major names I can think of went without at least once performance by a different actor. Doug Bradley IS Pinhead.
That's not quite accurate. Pinhead was played by Stephan Smith Collins & Fred Tatasciore in Revelations (2011), and Paul T. Taylor in Judgement (2018). The last time Doug Bradley played Pinhead was in Hellworld (2005).

Legit question. How can we keep the characters and cosmetics but not the map? Is that really in the contract?
The map is free to everyone. People paid for the characters and cosmetics, so it would be very bad PR to take that away, and Netflix and BHVR both know this. It was likely negotiated in the initial contract that way.
-
I'm not sure what you mean. He's getting removed for purchase along side the rest of the content.

Maybe they shouldn't have agreed to the deal to begin with then. I mean i can see how they want the attention to go to their Own "Stranger Things" game. This version in dbd wouldn't have been much to compete with if they were planning on expanding on it's features.
Go complain to Netflix then. No one here knows or can do anything about it.

they just recently made a tweet about it.
essentially what they said was, that the DLC was time limited and wont be around forever, so we should get it while we can.
Fair enough. The article I read was dated two months, and I couldn't find anything else about the license being removed.
Hopefully the same thing does not happen to DBD.
-
@Mister_xD said:
given that the same might happen to Silent Hill, this is far from rock bottom as of right now.
Monsters & Mortals (a different, much smaller, game that had a Silent Hill DLC) just lost their license for that and is about to remove it similar to how DbD is removing Stranger Things.
Source?
As far as I know, they (being M&M) very recently renewed their license for Silent Hiill and are actually adding new content from the franchise.

You don't get the point, you're a customer and you get to know why something that you used to purchase, it won't be available anymore... it's not that dificult to understand. As an example, when they shut down the serves for deathgarden they didn't say "we are closing the servers" and that's all, the reason was that the player base was not as big as expected and actually they were losing money instead of earning by keeping the servers on... when Bill couldn't come to consoles they said "license problems" because you, as a customer have the right to know and them as a company has a right to inform you. You're not asking how much in taxes they pay which is totally unrelated, it's something about a product that you are purchasing.
>when Bill couldn't come to consoles they said "license problems"
It's the same reasoning here. License problems. Why is that valid reasoning for Bill, but not for Stranger Things in your eyes?
-
They did, one time.
They made the hitboxes accurately reflect the hatchet model instead of the spheres they are currently, but it suddenly made it that much harder for Huntress players to hit anything. So incessant complaints ensued (as usual with this community) and the change was reverted.
-
He Dead Hard'd. On his screen, it likely didn't hit him at all because of the desync between your clients.

Well, Nemesis usually has a rocket launcher in RE3 and in DbD he only whips his puny little tentacle. So I'm pretty sure a walking Pinhead with maybe his chains as his attack would definitely work.
As lazy as the devs are, we probably just get the mechanics of Nemesis, but with a chain instead of the tentacle.
Nemesis only has the rocket launcher for a very brief section in RE3. Otherwise, he is all fists and tentacles, baby!
(He does also use a flamethrower for a fight, I guess)

The Billibilli leak basically confirmed that it's Pinhead. There's no way it isn't, unless the devs want to get into a huge ****storm (and possibly legal trouble).

Horizon Zero Dawn is now a multiplatform game and has been for a bit over a year. Both TLOU games have remained PlayStation exclusive.

I like the DC Penalty because I'm sick of selfish crybaby children having a tantrum and leaving the game every time it goes slightly wrong with no consequence, ruining the match for the other four players.

A quick search for "fnaf" on the forums returns over one THOUSAND pages of results. Over ONE THOUSAND...
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N2ZQCWUPRTXA/image.png
I can guarantee that anything you have to say on the topic has been said before. You could just comment in agreeement on one of those pre-existing threads instead of creating a whole new one.
There's also over 1000 results for 'Candyman', 'Jason', 'Pennywise', 'Pinhead' & 'Chucky', and likely several other horror icons I cannot think of off the top of my head. Why haven't you complained about those?
It's 1000 mentions of the name, not threads. You mentioning it only adds to the count. The amount of search terms means nothing
Grow up and ignore threads you don't like, it's a public forum. I don't like the endless complaints about game balance, but you don't see me going into those threads and talking down to everyone.

The thing is, and here I’m going to sound old, I don’t necessarily want a bunch of kids flooding into the game. (I say kids because it’s the word you used.) You can say the fandom has matured, and maybe it has, but we already have enough kids playing this game that think it’s fun to troll and sandbag their team mates, then immediately call them slurs in chat. I’d rather not see more.
What people don't seem to realise is that the series is over seven years old now, and many of the younger fans of the series have since grown up. A quick peek at the FNAF reddit for example shows that the overwhelming majority of users there are very mature people, much more so than DBD's own community IMO.
-
I'm hoping it's all a red herring and that the chapter is original, though I imagine BHVR would get into a lot of flak for that.

Pig is from 2004.
They have done quite a few remakes of chainsaw massacre too.
I would personally like to see more originals or even more folklore like vampires/werewolves.
I would like to see a weather control killer next to be fair, I think that would be really fun.
You're right. I misremembered and thought that the original SAW had released in 2003, not 2004.
Still, that proves the point even more so.
-
>Leatherface, Freddy, Michael, Ghostface, Pyramid head, Nemesis, and Pig, all killers that we have seen before the year 2000 (Nemesis almost being modern but is 1 year short, 1999)
Pyramid Head debuted in 2001, and Pig in 2003 (even though we don't know it's Amanda herself until SAW lll which was 2006).
Also, just to be pedantic, Freddy Krueger is from the 2010 reboot, Nemesis is from the RE3 2020 remake, and Ghostface is a completely DBD OC excluding the mask.

Wow, it's pretty crazy that the chances of you being matched with someone who just ended the previous game and likely started queuing up for a new one at the same time you as is pretty high!

Crooked was his internal name used during prototyping and development of his character (the Hag was the Witch, Huntress was the Bear, Trapper was Chuckles).

Because they can use it to gain free distance at will in a chase with little chance for the Killer to do anything against it.
It's indeed busted when trying to use it for its intended purpose, which is dodging hits.

Only one that needs to be 'fixed' is Jill's, as hers seemed to have been bugged when Claire's face was updated.
The rest are fine.

They once adjusted the hitboxes to match the hatchet's model, but it suddenly became a lot harder to hit their shots so all the Huntress mains complained and it got reverted.

I know there's a game on steam called "The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope". It looks similar to Until Dawn IMO :)
Altho I haven't played it either. Because I haven't been able to buy it yet lol
It's made by the same developers, Supermassive Games.
It plays very similarly, but also has online co-op where two players can control two characters at the same time.
It's actually the second game in the Dark Pictures Anthology. The first one, Man of Medan, released in 2019. The third game, House of Ashes, is due to release in a couple of months.

How would he work. Spring trap is just a man in a broken suit. He has no ability besides M1ing. He doesnt really have anything that I could think of besides using cameras that are set on gens
They made Myers and Ghostface work, when all they did in their films was follow and stab.
They made Freddy work, even though his powers in the film has no obvious translation to video game mechanics.
They made Pyramid Head work, when all he did was follow James around and try to great knife him.
They made Nemesis work, even though he is mainly known for ranged weapons.
A little creativity would go a long way. People have made plenty of good ideas on how any sort of Killer could fit into DBD.

I’d much rather something much more interesting than a robot with a corpse in it, no joke an internet series inspired by fnaf is better than fnaf solely because it used real horror instead of “scream at you”
Anyways the unique kick and break animations can also fit literally anyone else, silent hill creatures, creatures who are stronger when it comes to upper body strength, and so much more, they could also use a weapon to break it (kinda like spirit)
Fnaf may be suggested alot but most of the time people don’t usually agree with it as FNAF really isn’t considered horror as, and I cannot believe people are desensitized to this,
HORROR.ISN’T.ALL.JUMPSCARES
Silent Hill doesn’t use jumpscares, it uses unsettling imagery to leave the player uneasy for example, fnaf literally is just “dead body in robots that yell at you” and thinking about that sounds bad already, can we PLEASE just leave the idea of fnaf in dbd alone for a while cause everytime this topic is brought up, I basically have to extend my response to tell the person that its not a good idea
Left 4 Dead and Stranger Things are both in the game, and I doubt many people would consider them horror (or at least horror as their primary genre).
FNaF would fit about as well as they do.
