They used to be far more community driven some years back, with weekly hour long dev streams and the such (they aired at 4am my time, I remember waking up early on school days just to catch them lol).
But the community's toxicity kept growing, and the devs gradually stopped doing them because they knew they would get ######### on regardless. I can't really blame them. The DBD community is awful, and I wouldn't want to put myself as a target for vitriol by being the face on those streams (just look at the hate Coté gets for example).
-
Yes. I thought that was the norm to be honest, because all my friends do it too.
I specifically go out of my way to get at least one of each event item/add-on/offering on every survivor during events.
-
Well if you're counting a licensed Killer as the first one, then I don't see why the Chatterer and CryptTV killers wouldn't count.
If your argument is about the first non-legendary skin Killer, then she still wouldn't be the first. Freddy Krueger has been in the game for four years.
EDIT: Since people are misconstruing my comment, let me clarify. I did not say Kreuger is 'representation' (good or otherwise), I said he's an LGBT+ character who has been in the game for years. I've mentioned before that this fact is pretty gross to think about (can't find the comment in my post history though, so I'm thinking the original post was deleted which isn't a surprise), but it is a fact.
-
Yep.
To the point where my friend group doesn't even bother going for the save anymore because every Bubba plays in the same exact boring as **** way. We'd rather just pump out gens and get into another match as fast as possible.
-
Unfortunately, I see him far more often than I do see actual fun Killers to go against, such as Oni, Nurse and Demogorgon.

That does, thank you! Now im actually excited lmao
Technically, the license isn't for the 2002 American movie that I used in my example, but for the 1991 Japanese novel, and 1998 film that the 2002 movie is a remake of. This is why its called 'Ringu' and not 'The Ring', but its the same concept.

The Ring
Stringy haired ghost girl crawling out of your TV *ring* a bell?

If I'm not mistaken this doesn't come out till next year tho lol
The DbD year starts and ends in June, not January, as that is when the anniversary is.
For example, Year 4 began with the Silent Hill chapter in June 2020, and ended right before the Resident Evil chapter in June 2021.
So Chapter 23, Ringu in March 2022, will be the final chapter of Year 5, as the upcoming 6th anniversary chapter in June 2022 will be the first chapter of Year 6.
Meaning both maps for Year 5 have indeed already released, being Raccoon Police Department and Eyrie of Crows.

I dislike it when you can hide in a locker with it, come out with either head on, or iron maiden and be exposed or be caught in a locker and still use it.
Then just leave them alone, or better yet, eat the stun so they can't use it later instead.
They're sacrificing an entire perk slot just to avoid being instantly tunnelled, downed and rehooked. That's one less Dead Hard, Borrowed Time, Circle of Healing, Unbreakable, Sprint Burst, etc you have to worry about.
Every second they spend waiting out the DS timer (in a locker or not) is a second they're spending not doing generators.
-
It isn't overpowered, it isn't a 'get out of jail free card', and it should not get de-activated after the gates are open.
The perk deactivates the moment the Survivor starts healing themselves, touches a generator, touches a totem, sabotages a hook & unhooks another Survivor. This means if they do anything to progress the game at all, they lose the perk, which by proxy means if you ever get hit by the perk, you were hard tunnelling.
DS after the exit gates are open is not an issue. That's on you for not forcing them to use it earlier in the trial.
-
It's an undershirt. She's wearing it under her black tanktop.
It's the same way in her RE2 model, it's not an error.
-
I hope the complaining about a change in gameplay (for once) doesn't put BHVR off from doing something like this again.
This is exactly like what happened after the Hallowed Blight event in 2018, where there was so much complaining about how the pustula plants broke up gameplay. Christ, its a limited time event, just try to enjoy themselves.
No wonder BHVR gradually stopped doing that style of event. I hope the same thing happening now doesn't dissuade them again.
-
I don't think the Entity would like to have something just as powerful as it in its realm. Pretty sure you could already classify the Entity as eldritch anyhow.
-
Doubtful.
BHVR is rather careful at emphasising that it's the Solstice season, not Christmas season, because they don't want to exclude people who don't celebrate the specific holiday.
Santa Claus hats would go against that.
-
Cringe.
This is something I would've have posted when I was sixteen, and much more immature.
-
It needs to be within eight meters & and have direct line of sight to injure. If the crows travel more than eight meters or they go through a wall or obstacle first, they swarm first and only injure if the Survivor is already swarmed.
Basically, about the range of the indicator the Artist can see when charging it.
-
They're not Ranks anymore, they're called Grades. They no longer affect your matchmaking, they are now just an indicator of how much you have played that month.
Your matchmaking is affected by a hidden MMR value now.

Exactly the same amount of Coldwinds.
MacMillan Estate, Autohaven Wreckers, Coldwind Farm & Springwood all have five maps in each of their realms.

OK, so I should ask why is there a Doctor challenge on Trickster and Yunjin's Tome?
The same reason why there was three Zarina challenges in the Bill and Plague tome.
Because the character specific challenges aren't exclusive to just their designated tome.
-
It's still their Tome. They're still getting lore entries.

When will people learn not to play Steam games on Tuesday afternoons if they don't want to be inconvenienced by the routine maintenance that has been this way *for years*.
It's a five minute penalty that will have been finished well before the servers are back. That is, five minutes for people who don't already have existing penalties (aka crybabies who disconnect at the slightest in-game convenience).
Might not apply to OP's topic (might have genuinely been a down on Steam's end) but in general.

So the more i play, the more likely i'll be put with better players?
No, I meant that your grade is based on time played, not your MMR.
Your MMR (which determines who you'll match with) is based on how well you do per match, not how often you play.

Well i'm currently level 4 gold in Killer, i think i'm already there
Grade has no relation to your MMR. It's solely based on time played per month.
-
Likely gone for good.
Recolours of existing cosmetics that appeared in the Rift don't tend to be re-released like original outfits do.
-
No, because then nobody would willingly queue up against SWF because they want easier games, and SWF players would find a match.
-
I doubt it. AFAIK the EGS store doesn't support that kind of beta function like Steam does.
I don't think the Windows Store allows it either.
-
It isn't okay on either side unless you have a real life emergency that you need to attend to, or you get stuck with some sort of game breaking bug or exploit.
-
When I first started playing DBD? Alright, here goes:
(The Trapper was the only Killer in the beta)

Problem is they physically can’t. Laurie and Quentin both never wore sweaters and BHVR have been given no creative liberty with them
Didn't stop Bill, Tapp, Ash, Cheryl, Jill and Leon from getting sweaters. I don't recall any of them ever wearing sweaters in their respective source material (albeit I'm not familiar with the Evil Dead franchise, so maybe not Ash).
The issue is 100% with the IP holders.

The wiki says he's Latin American, for all that's worth.
I thought it'd be great to have another Hispanic character after Jane.
I hope you haven't forgotten about everyone's favourite gambler with a heart of gold.
-
Your shoddy internet connection is not the fault of BHVR. Nor is it the fault of the other players in your matches, yet they're the ones punished every time you lose connection and disconnect.
That should not be allowed to continue. Don't play always online multiplayer video games if you don't have a stable internet connection.

You're comparing Legacy to DG cosmetics, which isn't the comparrison I'm making. I'm simply using Legacy as an example of why "because console didn't have a chance to get it" isn't a good reason for making this free but not something else.
DG wasn't free originally. Many people paid for that game. DG becoming free after for a week would be the same thing as if they made Bloodletting be available to everyone now: some people already paid for it, then others could get it without needing to pay for it. It's the same thing.
Legacy did require a grind to get. At this point the game is just as grindy if not grindier in its entirety though. Anyway, my point isn't to get legacy back, as I said, it was merely an example, the first that came to mind.
Also note how in the tweet of the DG free week they said "once this ends, only owners of both games will get to keep it"? That right there reads "you need to own both, or you won't have it". Just because they didn't state explicitly "it'll never come back" doesn't mean that it wasn't inferred in what they wrote. There are a variety of ways to say something without needing to explicitly state it. Anyway, this is a moot point, read 2 paragraphs above.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2671154#Comment_2671154
Nobody claimed they were entitled to legacy items. Read above, stop putting words in people's mouths.
It is funny that you claim that I was putting words in people's mouths when you did exactly that yourself. I was not referring specifically to you, or anyone else in this thread. I was referring to the droves of people over the past five years who actually have made complaints about Legacy being a one time deal, despite BHVR's recurring insistence that it isn't coming back.
If I was referring to you or someone else, I would have done so explicitly.
-
It isn't going to happen. They were obviously removed for a reason (most likely legal ones), so if they were to ever come back they would have done so by now.
It's been three months, it's time to let it go.

the DG masks were free to obtain on PC while consoles never had the chance. Your examples of legacy and bloodletting aren't 1 to 1 matchups, either; yes, console players didn't have the chance for this, however:
- legacy has been said to never return- it hasn't been said it's exclusive, it's said it will never return
- bloodletting required a real-world purchase. again DG was free.
- legacy required an insane grind in a game nobody thought would survive. the time taken for DG's cosmetics depended on your download speed.
Right on the money.
Irritates me to no end on how many people feel entitled to Legacy without realising that bringing it back would completely invalidate its namesake to begin with.

There's several ways to get down from the second floor without using the stairs now, namely the hole in the floor and the two broken walls that lead outside.
It's unnecessary to have a hook up there now that the Killer no longer has to navigate all the way down the stairs and out the building.

Cool Rift fragements, if you have allready max tier.
A little irritating, but its nice for players who can't play DBD for 40+ hours a week in order to hit max tier over a month before the Rift ends.

Blame the community for freaking out every single time a new perk is introduced that is actually powerful and worth swapping out a meta perk for.
See: Tenacity, Boil Over, Deliverance, Autodidact, Mettle of Man, Any Means Necessary, reworked Lucky Break, For the People, Soul Guard, reworked Built to Last, Power Struggle, Smash Hit, Blast Mine, Shadow Step, Spirit Fury, Rancor, Dragon's Grip, Starstruck, Lethal Pursuer, Eruption.
All of these have potential to be very useful perks, and I know for a fact that several of them had many complaints before they even came out about how 'strong' and 'overpowered' they would be. Some did in fact warrant nerfs (Mettle of Man comes to mind), of course.
The devs are afraid of adding new meta shaking perks for fear of the community blowing up (as usual) with allegations of "power creep" and what not.
Stop asking for nerfs on new powerful perks, and start asking for lesser used ones to be buffed instead. For example, Circle of Healing is the first (debatably) meta Survivor perk since David released with Dead Hard, which was *four and a half years ago*.
-
Why am I suddenly seeing complaints about Overcome? It lacks very lacklustre to me.
To me, it means I won't have to put up with Dead Hard at all, and that sounds extremely appealing ngl.

This. Where did mods say that? Because this looks like an exploit to me. That'd be like saying the glitched rock formations on Ormond or Yamaoka were legal because the killer could also get up there, and those got patched out soon after.
There's a difference between saying something is legit, and saying something is not bannable.
This falls under the latter. It's not bannable because both sides can get up there. That does not make it legal, as it has been acknowledged as an exploit that will be patched.
-
Just about done.
Much quicker than previous Rifts, with the XP per Fragment boost, Fragments per Tome level boost & Midnight Grove Tome levels all contributing nicely.
I usually get burnt out a dozen or so tiers before the end, forcing me to panic buy the last few. Glad I don't have to do that this time.
You'll be fine. There's still 38 days before the Rift closes (feel like this one has gone forever already, yet there's still over a month to go). Less than a tier a day.
-
What does 'survive with twitch' refer to, and why do you report people for it while simultaneously thinking its not a reportable offence?

I would need to be online to buy the DLC from the store. If my PS4 is not updated, it won't give me online access.
I don't game on PlayStation, but I'm fairly sure you can purchase things from the online Store without having to do so on your PlayStation, in the same way you can buy games on Steam without having to be logged into the client.
Sorry, but this is on you.
-
I'm sorry, I'm not following.
How does not updating your system software prevent you from purchasing a DLC from the PlayStation Store?
Never mind that we were told two months in advance.
-
It's intentionally designed to give you incentive to play the other half of the game.
Letting you choose your daily rituals would defeat the whole point.
-
Did you not read *any* of the other comments in the thread?
Those 7.0.0 patch notes are not real. Scott made them as a list of things he wants to see, and framed it as 'leaked patch notes' in a rather obvious troll.
-
How old?
The current locomotion animations we have now is its third iteration. Are you talking a year or so ago, or five?
Because the animations at launch were very silly. The male running animations looked like they were barely putting any effort in running for their lives, and the female ones looked like they drastically needed to go to the bathroom.
The current ones are polished and my favourite, personally.
-
Both BHVR and Epic are well aware that a very small minority would willingly choose to purchase and play a game on EGS over Steam when given the option, so they had to do something to incentivise doing so.

It's not much better, pushing it all into one tiny corner in hopes people dont see it.
You'd rather the forums be flooded with posts about a completely separate game that has nothing to do with Dead by Daylight?
There's an off-topic section for posts like that. You should be glad that there's a mega thread for it in General to begin with.

I've never heard, even anecdotally, of anyone being banned for AFKing - which is what this amounts to.
It...probably should be. But I think there are bigger priorities right now (getting rid of all the damned hackers, for a start).
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2658624#Comment_2658624
If it's what I think it is, it's a script that auto-queues, stands still while 'attacking' (allowing survivors to also get some BP while earning more BP) and when Johnny Macros wakes up in the morning, he has 1m BP and a freshly smurfed killer.
It actually is outright bannable. It's called 'botting' and used to be a huge problem 4-5 years ago. Killers setting up a macro to just left click over and over to farm points on cooperative Survivors (and back then, points were used to rank up).
It's under the Unsportsmanlike Category in the report section.
