  • There are things that make you lose that are the game's fault or a balance issue. The former are called "bugs"; I hear the game has a few of those.

Also, Devs should bring back his collision when he's stunned. That way you could find some use to his power, you jump a pallet and get stunned so the survivor cant jump it again.

True, it would definitely open up more skilled plays.

My comment was removed because I called you an idiot for misunderstanding my post lol. I'm sorry, but you did miss the point completely. Where did I mention I want a free unhook?

As mentioned in my previous comment, it has nothing to do with 'free unhooks', it's all about being in with a 'chance' of being unhooked.

Why would you continue playing a game when you know no one will/can save you? It ruins the fun for everyone.

Also it isn't just irritating when you're the person who has been hooked, it's equally irritating when your team is hooked and you can't save them because the killer is waiting in front of the hook.

Sure you can finish of the gens, but again wherr is the fun in that? Who wants to play a game as a survivor when the killer isn't hunting you? You may as well play without a killer. That's my point!

You do have a chance. It just happens to be very small. You don't want a "chance", you want "certainty". Hence, free unhooks.

Mom has too many conditions for it to even work properly and it will never be changed. DS I agree was a free escape card, because someone was Spacebar strong with no skill involved. MoM is basicly better version of DH but it also depends on the circumstances.

It has one condition: the survivor must be hit three times, with the third hit putting them in the dying state. That's it. It punishes killers for succeeding at catching survivors, like all second chance perks.

Welcome to the modern gaming. You don't own anything. Especially not wrt to a multiplayer-only game.

Banning people from multiplayer games for cheating/exploiting has been a thing since, well, since multiplayer games. Nowadays, the only difference is that cheaters and exploiters try to make it look like they're not doing anything wrong. Back in the day, they at least had the balls to admit what they'd done.

  • @FreyatheKind said:

Might need to confirm, but I think somewhere in the ToU they also state they have the right to change said terms for any reason? I can’t be sure though. Always heard it that way.

Indeed, that's also part of a standard ToU/EULA.

  • @Sheldor said:

These terms of use were not in effect when I bought the game more than 2 years ago. They were made up later in the patches and have no legal binding whatsoever. Its like selling a sports car and then making up a 15 mph speed limit after the sale and revoking the car when driving above that.

Yeah, they were. Standard video game ToU includes "don't cheat/exploit" (in legalese).

  • If you'd actually read the contract, which you clearly didn't, you'd know you're paying for a license that has ToU (Terms of Use). Violate those ToU, and the license is revoked. It's like going into a restaurant and shitting on the tables - they're gonna kick you out, no matter how much you scream that you're paying for the meal.

I was in a SWF with my other friend and i messaged another survivor who alison brough an item (i play on ps4)

When was this? PS4 was having connection issues today, from what I heard.

  • How do you know that everyone lost everything they brought in? If the killer DC'd, there would be no end-game chat.

  • You shouldn't be losing items. It sounds like your connection is the one giving out. There's a bug that does that sometimes.

  • You are not entitled to free unhooks. Failure should be punished. Make your own game with AI if you want to dictate other players' behavior.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

The game is not dying. If we had 5 cents for every time there was a thread claiming it is, we could finance our own Dbd game.

Five cents? Are you trying to finance your own game or become the richest man on Earth?

  • @HavelmomDaS1 said:

Thanks for mentioning me. I'm not a survivor main nor a killer main, I play both sides pretty equally.

The idea by itself sounds good, but we need to make changes. I see issues with 0 TR killers, I see issues with the time to finish a gen (it seems like to be even faster to finish a gen).

I personally would add the second objective idea many mentioned previously like picking up parts to finish a gen.

I like the idea @I_am_Negan said, about switching between generator repair and third person just to look around. That should solve all the problems with the one 0 TR killer. As for speed, it's only faster if you yourself can solve the mini-games very quickly. Note that the repair speed will actually decrease over time during each mini-game, until it reaches 0, if you take too long.

  • @MaxPowrer said:

It's a funny idea to remove the boredom during repairing... and make it more interesting..

But while I have fun solving Minigames a Wraith, Pig, P1 Myers can sneak up on me. I have no possibility to watch the map... spot the Killer in distance. See an injured survivor or other things.

I don't really know how to solve this... maybe with possibilities zu choose during a skillcheck? (Pictures of 4 cables, numbered 1-4, Press the number of the biggest cable?) I dunno...

My personal experience is... games where I sit longer than 1 gen are quite rare... so moments where I can do gens undisturbed are the "relaxing" part for me... :)

Like I said, when I made the poll asking specifically for survivor mains' opinions, the response was overwhelmingly positive.

  • @GraviteaUK said:

I would find it more fun if the button to hit the skill check changed each time.

Like the skillchecks would be slower (not too slow) but the button to hit the skillcheck changed each time.

So maybe i have to press X instead of Space.

So nerves of steel or fail the SC

QTEs are the bane of video games. One sneeze, one wrongly-timed blink and you fail.

  • @HarryToeknuckles said:

It would be impossible to watch out for the killer if you're playing generator mini games though.

Which is why I made the poll thread first, and most people were in favor of making interactions more dangerous if they were also more fun.

  • Maybe they finally rescued Ash from the Entity's realm.

  • I see a Vote Up, but replies would be appreciated.

  • If they mention anything good, they have to admit that they don't have as many reasons to complain as they try to make it sound.

if they do that ppl will still camp or tunnel wont work

If you punish people for whatever you think camping and tunneling are, they will still do it as well. The difference is, rewards work better than hitting someone with a baseball bat.

i think its the opposite mah boy its killer: "waaaa MoM its too op it requires no skill waaaaa"

MoM literally only activates if you, as a survivor, fail to win chases and instead get hit multiple times. Explain how that's skillful.

  • @pemberley said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/423873#Comment_423873

I don’t want to nerf pig, I want to give tunneled (key word) survivors a chance.

They should learn to win the chase.

  • Eu ofereci-me para traduzir há alguns anos. Eles disseram para eu esperar por uma resposta, mas nunca recebi nada...

  • If you want to ######### on the hook, you can do that already without making the killer hook you a second time.

Infinites are not a thing anymore and killers have bamboozle. It's not my fault killers can't deal with loopers properly or jungle gyms. There is a looping strategu to every tile when you play killer and it is not impossible to catch a survivor. Git gud.

Survivors are abusing the Entity Blocker bug (i.e.: exploiting), so infinites are back.

All knowledge is based on that which we do not know. Will you fight? Or will you perish like a dog?

If "meta" is used to mean "what is perceived to be the most effective strategy at any given point in time", then it is indistinguishable from "the most used strategy", since people will naturally gravitate to what they perceive to be the most effective strategy.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/422374#Comment_422374

Ah but if we don't consider unknown strategies to be available then suddenly the Meta strategy is known by definition. It's still not the same as the most used strategy since most players might be using a strategy that is known to be sub optimal such as camping in this instance.

So it just comes down to if unknown strategies are available strategies.

If they are then Meta just refers to what we THINK is the Meta. And new Metas are discovered much like science is.

If they aren't then the Meta refers to the best strategy out of the considered strategies. In which case the Meta is invented by the top players like mathematics is.

Unknown strategies are definitely available, someone just needs to come up with them first. If "meta" doesn't actually mean "meta", then it goes back to what I said and what 99% of all people use the term for - it's just the most used strategy.

  • It's about stability, not speed. For the record, though, your speeds are very low compared to what is normal in my country.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

@Orion still no. If the best known strategy is used by a minority of players then it is still meta. The question is if a strategy that isn't even KNOWN can be meta.

Meta is about effectiveness and not number of users by definition.

Then meta is an irrelevant term, because the most effective strategy can never be known for sure.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

The meta doesn't change without an update to the game generally. However someone's understanding of it might. Thus when a new tactic is discovered it effectively changes the meta even if it was in reality the meta all along.

The question there boils down to: Are unknown strategies available?

In other words, "meta" is used to mean the most widely used strategy, because you can't know what the most effective one is.

  • It's not that bad. Obviously not being able to see the Deep Wound timer is #########, as is the fact that the Legion no longer sees blood, but with 115%, you can Feral Frenzy, hit, chase, and down. My main issues are the fact that the timer no longer goes down while in the killer's TR (GG TR builds) and while mending (this was ######### when introduced and remains ######### now), as well as Feral Frenzy just going away if you miss a single attack (which is very easy due to the high movement speed).

  • 5 days? Did I miss something?

You know what? That’s fair enough. I do the exact same thing with salty players that send me hate mail.

Thank you. Boredom is basically the only reason I even come to the forum in the first place. It's not like people change their minds through debate. Hell, some people can't even admit they made mistakes in the first place.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/421574#Comment_421574

That's why so many games get boring without updates, because otherwise the meta doesn't change.

You just said it did, at least sometimes. So how can the most effective strategy be different if the game is exactly the same as it was before?

  • @ClogWench said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/421569#Comment_421569

Most game metas DO only change with updates. I have no idea what you're on about.

If the "meta" were the most effective strategy, it would never change outside game updates. To say that the meta changed is to acknowledge that you're not using it to refer to the most effective strategy.

  • @ClogWench said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/421550#Comment_421550

I've always understood meta as being the most tactical option, used more than most other options because it's the best one.

But that's not what it is. Even if the original definition of "meta" is different from what it means now, it was always used with the same intent, because players (mistakenly) presume to know what the most effective strategy is. If a meta were truly the most effective strategy, then it would be stagnant outside game updates, but it is not. It constantly shifts and evolves as players gain a broader understanding of the game.

  • @GrootDude said:

@Orion an un-official change that doesn’t appear when I search the meaning.

Which do you think is faster, a dictionary update, or a language evolving?

  • @SmokePotion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/421512#Comment_421512

i tried to argue what meta meant a long time ago. i'm done. The common meaning for Meta is "what everyone does" no one uses it to mean the actual most effective tactic available.

i could link a thread of mine that will show you pages of people arguing against me, and almost no one with me. You and I,who know the actual definition, are rare. And no one cares.

Original meaning, sure, I acknowledge. However, this isn't like facecamping, where it was an exploit that popped up again after an update and went unnoticed because people referred to hard camping as "face camping". This is a term that changed over time.

  • @GrootDude said:

@SmokePotion you said camping meta so it appears you do not know what “meta” means. It means most effective tactic available.

That is literally not what it means. Meta just means it's the most used tactic, which is not necessarily the most effective.

  • @PiiFree said:

    Just a quick FYI:

PGTW regresses 25%, which is worth 20 seconds of a single Survivors repair time.

You have to consider that in order to get this perk activated, you need to find, hit, down and hook a Survivor AND run to a gen that's worthy of kicking.

The time you "win" is nothing compared to the time it takes to activate it.

And keep in mind that if you happen to go to a gen that's still regressing, you're #########.

  • @GrootDude said:

@Orion same with the bnp. If it weren’t so useless then more people would use it. People complain about having to take perks for something like this. Sorry that I don’t buy into the lies that mori’s aren’t OP.

That's their problem, then. Unless there are areas where, by default, you cannot hook someone, it's not an issue. Those perks (except Mad Grit, obviously) exist precisely to allow you a greater hook selection.

Survivors don't heal because it takes "too long". Survivors also don't take BNP because they don't want to, even though it shaves off more time than they'd need to heal. Killers can and do take Agitation and Iron Grasp. Repeating what I say to try to make yourself sound smarter doesn't work if you are wrong.

  • @GrootDude said:

@Orion they’re near useless now and really shouldn’t be an ultra-rare, you’d be better off taking anything else. You also aren’t counting the fact you can’t always make it to a hook.

Shaving off 20 seconds of a generator is considered useless? Healing is considered to take too long, and even that only takes 16 seconds. Sorry if I don't buy it.

Nobody would ever use an ultra-rare offering on the off-chance that they might not make it to a hook. If they're worried about that, they take Agitation, and/or Iron Grasp, and/or Hangman's Trick, and/or Mad Grit. Again, rendering something useless is not balancing.

  • @CashelP14 said:

@Orion I'm happy I'm not the only one who made the bill mistake. I also assumed it was a trick question.

Either way @AlwaysInAGoodShape its a really fun quiz. Make another one again soon mate

Again, I didn't make a mistake. I knew what the quiz considered the correct answer and answered in that fashion. I just pointed out that the quiz is wrong.

  • @GrootDude said:

@lasombra1979 ok then the point of the old bnp was to do gens faster. It was balanced since this is what we’re going off of.

They still allow you to do gens faster. However, hooking someone for the third time takes less time than using a Memento Mori on them and doesn't leave you stuck and unable to get an idea of your surroundings for the duration.

  • @GrootDude said:

@Orion insta-heals are purple and pink but they’re getting changed. Should they’d not be good also? Bnp was an ultra rare, should they revert the change?

Memento Moris were nerfed as well. Or did you forget?

    @KillermainBTWm8 said:

Hate to join in but my 600 ebonies say otherwise about them being "ultra rare"

After how many hours, over how many trials, over how many levels, on how many killers, using how many of the offerings?

  • @GrootDude said:

@Orion but they aren’t balanced. You hook all the survivors and can kill them that isn’t what I’d call balanced.

Ebony Memento Mori is an ultra-rare offering. It's single-use, expensive, and hard to get. It should be powerful. It's fine as it is.

  • @GrootDude said:

@Orion what would you suggest to balance them?

Keep Memento Moris as they are, since they're already balanced. Make it so keys (other than Broken Keys) cannot show up in chests. Problem solved.
