Just make it a perk with no hex to cleanse and allow no more than 2 survivors to repair a generator at a time.

New Ruin is extremely powerful late game. It must be a Hex Perk, or it would be OP as hell.
This one comment alone has made me lose all faith in BHVR and the DBD Devs. That shows a complete lack of knowledge in your own product if you believe that to be true.

horrible idea.
maybe you should rethink your playstyle if your always the one getting camped?
but why would i need to improve and get better at the game, when i can also just have the devs make everything so easy, that i cant lose anymore, right?
camping exists. and it will keep existing, so learn to deal with it.
Instead of posting anything constructive anyone who disagrees with me just act like I made this post because I suck at this game. Not that I have anything to prove, but I don't. I've got a platinum trophy, achieved Killer Rank 1, I play with all the killers and my player level is close to devotion 2. The reality is people defending camping hooks are the players that need to improve at the game if that's the only way you can kill survivors.
In regards to improving and getting better, no players can practice or improve their skill to prevent killers camping hooks if that's what they decide to do. Killers are in full control.
Either way i'm done with debating with little boys on the internet who get so offended and butt hurt because some has a different opinion about a video game lol.
I'm signing off and won't be checking back here, seeing how often some of you post on this forum gave me a bit of a wake up call, I'd recommend you all get outside more.

- That would break insidous
- Failure should be punished
- The killer is already punished by wasting a whole bunch of time just watching you die
- The killer will very likely de-pip allowing you to never see them again
- Borrowed time and 2 people at once is the easiest way to counteract that
I get your frustration, but you're not helping at all.
With respect this game has more reworks then any other I know. They change perks and killers so often which always impacts other factors of the game resulting in more changes to perks and killers. This is no different, they just need to sit and brainstorm some ideas to resolve this as multiple players are complaining. Google it and just look at the amount of posts.

The thing you trying to combat is an issue that the devs have already addressed multiple times, but still ultimately decided that it is an acceptable strategy even if the person getting camped is not having fun dealing with it. What do you want me to say other than just move on? I've played the game on and off for nearly 3 years while watching them add then remove things to deal with camping. Usually when they go with a harder solution survivors find weird and interesting ways to abuse it to their advantage. Point loss is one of the few things that have the least amount of abuse issues.
I appreciate your comment but this shows that there's enough people who have an issue with it. Just because the devs haven't found a solution they've stopped trying?
Instead of everyone debating whether or not it's a good idea, why not brainstorm some ideas that could fix this issue and make it fun for everyone?
Even the people disagreeing with me have said they think hook camping is 'scummy'.

Thousands of people agreed that slavery, the holocaust, war, etc. were a good idea. Based on your logic, that means they were right?
I'm not against your opinion - camping is a problem.
But stating that people agree with you doesn't mean that you're right or that the idea is good.
How dare you, what a sick and twisted thing to say. How can you even compare this to slavery and the holocaust? How disrespectful. Have some respect and grow up.

If you think this is a common topic, clearly that shows this is an issue that needs to be addressed

I will do the same, i will message killers asking if they enjoyed being looped and ask if they enjoyed the game.
Did you read what i put? Lust is not a factor on loops, loopers know how to break LoS there is no lust. The Disturbed Ward is a great example of this.
But again, there are so many perks that combat this, but nothing to combat camping hooks!
If you block the hook survivors can't even unhook you! If you stay a further distance back you can immediately grab the survivor. What's not to get?!
-
I'm on my stag do this weekend, but next week i'm going to spend the whole day camping hooks and will message the survivors asking if they enjoyed the game. I'll also see how many are saved successfully to see how much of a chance they have.
I'll post my results to my YouTube channel.

"I also disagree with your statement regarding looping. It's completely different. There are so many more factors that can impact looping - the map, perks, skill, pallet position etc. Camping a hook is just that, camping at a hook"
Not really no.
Every map has one, one build works for all of them, MoM, Adrenaline, Balanced Landing and DS, some of the loops like Haddonfield houses and Abattoir loop doesn't even require pallets, the obstacles and multiple chances to drop LoS mean they can't even lust you.
Anyone that is not a Billy or Nurse is not going to catch you unless you make a mistake.
I've caught loads of loopers using other killers, especially Doctor using shock therapy and Hunter with throwing axes.
Bloodlust also helps massively with looping and so does choosing how to chase the survivors, preventing them from speed vaulting etc...

It's more of a grey area honestly. Sometimes the killer camps because they know there are survivors nearby or because there's a gen nearly done near the hook.
That comment is completely fair enough and I agree there are times where there are legitimate reasons too, but i'm trying to think of a solution that combats the ones that do it for no reason at all.
Maybe if they adjust the ranking / matchmaking system it will help with this. My player level is devotion 1 level 60 so I would love to be paired with people around the same level as I would expect it to happen less.

Because 9/10 times the person is being disingenuous.
They exaggerate, act as if every killer they face decides to just facecamp for nothing, been playing for 1 year now and been facecamped MAYBE half a dozen times.
Most of the time it's because they hide right next to hooks then loop the killer around it and cry camper.
Camping is a legit strat if the killer chooses to use it, no different to looping, hook blocking.
It's not against ANY rules to do it.
Is it scummy? sure but so is running infinities with a wealth of 2nd chance perks.
Clearly we need to agree to disagree because that's not what i'm experiencing. I've experienced being and witnessing Killers 'Facecamping' for literally no reason, when survivors aren't even close by. Generators have been getting repaired and the killers don't move. Just because you don't witness it, doesn't mean it's not happening. Even today i've had it happen twice already and i've only played 6 games. Sure that may not seem a lot but it's a daily occurrence. Maybe it's a PS4 thing?
Sure it's not against the rules, but neither were all the perks they added to the game that they needed to nerf. They did it because fans were getting annoyed and found it unfair, which is exactly what most people think about camping hooks. This has nothing do with playing by the rules or not, it's based on players experience and feedback.
If you agree it's scummy, why not try and find a better solution to it?
I also disagree with your statement regarding looping. It's completely different. There are so many more factors that can impact looping - the map, perks, skill, pallet position etc. Camping a hook is just that, camping at a hook.
-
I'm honestly surprised at how many people actually defend this behaviour. I'm curious to know why? Why do you want Killers to camp hooks?
Is it because you do it? Or is it because you prefer grinding points and would rather win easy without a Killer being present?
It's so black and white for me, I think this would make it more enjoyable for everyone.

I've made a similar forums before. It blew up and eventually a dev said something along the lines of "we don't plan to change camping as it's intended". As i said earlier, they messed up the first time they changed it, and with both that and the entitled killers who can't get a kill without camping, the devs are too afraid to try again
That's fair enough, i'm just going to stick with playing as a Killer for now. I'd rather be in control and give survivors a decent game of cat and mouse instead of boring them to death!
Thanks for your support, it's nice to see someone on this forum debating respectfully.
-
Can we not just get a Dev to address this so we can close the forum? I've expressed my opinion and views on the situation and those who have disagreed have expressed theirs. Whatever the outcome of this is fine, I'm still going to play but it would be nice to know what stance the Devs take and whether they agree if it's 'fun' or not.

If you keep punishing killers for playing in ways that are perfectly justifiable, you're gonna run out of punching bags, I mean killers. Look at how survivor queues have spiked.
You've made it clear you like camping as a killer which is why I can't take your input seriously. I play as a Killer main and have achieved Rank 1 but I would be more than happy having a penalty for camping hooks because it is lazy and require 0 skill. Part of the fun of a survivor is the thrill of the chase. There is no chase when a killer camps.

TBH i completely agree with you, as a killer main, i wouldn't mind it at all, but i also play survivor and would love it so it would be a win win for me. There's no point in posting this though as these forums have been over run by bad killer players, who still continue to call survivors OP, and literally can only get there kills form camping, tunnelling, and noed. The community ruins this game by being so damn bad at it.
I've realised that on this forum, I won't be here for long. I'm trying to have an honest and open conversation about improving game play, looking for decent solutions that are fair for everyone but people just like to argue because they think they're right. Truth is there isn't a right or wrong answer because it's all down to preference and is subjective to the person.

Let's get one thing straight: "fun" is not an argument for changing the balance of the game. It's not fun for the killer to be looped, but nobody seriously suggests that survivors should be unable to move after sprinting for 30 seconds if they haven't been hit.
With that said, killers do not have to fall for obvious bait. You take a chance every single time you join a lobby. Sometimes that pays off, sometimes it doesn't. I've been rescued while being camped, and I've had rescues succeed when I was camping as well.
You do have a chance. However, you're confusing "having a chance" with "succeeding every single time". You are going to fail from time to time. That's just how games work.
Mate what planet are you on? From all of your responses you are trying so hard to defend hook camping by completely ignoring my post. I've stated in my first post these killers gave no chance of an escape because they sat and watched the hook. Survivors attempted to rescue but gave up because he was blocking it. For arguments sake just agree that there isn't a chance - How would you like this issue to be addressed?
In my opinion it is all about fun! That's literally the reason why I play video games. The looping argument is completely invalid and has nothing to do with camping. In that circumstance the survivors are attempting to escape and the killer is hunting them which is exactly what should be happening. Looping is annoying but is easily countered.
It's not about succeeding every time man, how many times do I need to say it? I've had plenty of games where I die early and it's no big deal, you move on. That being said, this is a clear issue that players find annoying and the evidence is the amount of posts regarding it. We're going round in circles here so I'm going to stop replying to you.

@Mc_Harty said:

Camping penalties have been tried out in PTBs and have always been exploited by survivors, one way or another.
Oh really? This is interesting, thanks for the info. I'm curious to know what the penalties were?

@Orion said:

You have a chance. Your teammates might have BT. They might try to distract the killer. It might work. They might unhook you. The exits might be opened. BT might save you. This is just one hypothetical scenario where you might be saved (i.e.: there's a chance you might be saved).
Tell me again how you don't want the certainty of rescue, when the chance already exists?
I can see the argument you're trying to make but it's not the situation i'm talking about. I'm talking very specifically about Killers who have no interest in any other survivors until the one on the hooks is gone. Killers who literally give you no chance of a rescue.
I've had so many games where the killer just stands in front of the hook waiting to grab who ever attempts the rescue. Survivors run in and out but the killer doesn't move, and isn't phased at all.
Do you honestly believe that a Killer who stands there and watches survivors die on the hook is fun? I appreciate people have different views and opinions but if you were able to combat this to make it fairer for everyone, wouldn't you?
-
@GrootDude said:
@lewfairbrother situation is both gates are open you have someone on the hook do I leave them and patrol the opened gates and finished gens?
Okay cool, thanks for clarifying I see your point and that's a very fair argument.
I suppose in this situation camping a hook to get a kill is the best solution as if you leave them they'll get rescued and escape, leaving you with no kills. So I propose the following:
- If they added a penalty to killers who camp hooks for longer than 10 seconds, remove it when exit gates are open
Or
- Make the Exposed status mandatory for all survivors when the exit gates have been opened

You do have a chance. It just happens to be very small. You don't want a "chance", you want "certainty". Hence, free unhooks.
I love how you're trying to tell me what I want. You're so wrong and clearly don't get my point. I'm not wasting my time trying to make you understand, i've made my point very clear it's not my fault you can't grasp it.
-
@GrootDude said:
@lewfairbrother once again what about the end-game? What do you do other than camp?
You need to be more specific, in what circumstance? Being a survivor on/off a hook? As a killer? What do you mean?
There is no need to camp at all on this game.
-
@Orion said:
You are not entitled to free unhooks. Failure should be punished. Make your own game with AI if you want to dictate other players' behavior.
My comment was removed because I called you an idiot for misunderstanding my post lol. I'm sorry, but you did miss the point completely. Where did I mention I want a free unhook?
As mentioned in my previous comment, it has nothing to do with 'free unhooks', it's all about being in with a 'chance' of being unhooked.
Why would you continue playing a game when you know no one will/can save you? It ruins the fun for everyone.
Also it isn't just irritating when you're the person who has been hooked, it's equally irritating when your team is hooked and you can't save them because the killer is waiting in front of the hook.
Sure you can finish of the gens, but again wherr is the fun in that? Who wants to play a game as a survivor when the killer isn't hunting you? You may as well play without a killer. That's my point!

I just eat the loss and move on like an adult playing a video game with no stakes involved. Then again I also play killer far more than survivor so I already know the ways of my fellow murder brothers and sisters. I get on the hook that is my fault and if I get camped at the hook till death then that is my team's fault or my bad luck. Life goes on. The camper is losing points, gen pressure, and you're more valuable to a killer alive than dead so they've crippled their devout and malicious emblem. Maybe consider running Deliverance or something. I dunno.
Your comment is pretty much 'It's not the end of the world'. Well duh! I can completely appreciate that and agree, but that isn't the point. This is a forum dedicated to improving gameplay and this is definitely something that needs addressing and really isn't that hard to combat.

It's not that we don't care (I ######### hate this new ranking system and want it removed ASAP), but the devs are trying to force us to play a specific way instead of allowing us to choose our playstyle.
This is the problem, players don't want to be forced to play a certain way. I for 1 couldn't care less about ranking systems, I just want to play and enjoy the experience. The beauty of this game was the simplicity:
If you're a Survivor - Escape
If you're a Killer - Kill Everyone
But the issue now is you get penalised for not playing a certain way and end up being paired with noobs.

To keep people invested. To make the journey to rank 1 again. It's the same deal as with the grind. It makes people stay.
I completely disagree. The rank resets make me want to stop playing. I'm a huge fan of DBD my player level is 57 (Devotion 1) and I have achieved Rank 1 Killer (I'm now rank 12). I am so sick and tired or rank reset. I play on PS4 and enjoy a variety of games, not just DBD, so it annoys me whenever I come back to DBD after taking a break to see my rank has been reset which results in being stuck in games with low ranking players who don't play as a team. It is honestly the worst part of the game and is the reason I no longer play. If they want to use the ranking system as a matchmaking tool, they should just do it based off of player levels to avoid being stuck with noobs. I'm on the last straw with this game, too many bugs and reworks. The Devs need to get their ######### together.
