This is partially accurate. Yes, the 2 changes at the very end of the PTB changes document are not occurring, but all of the other changes to The Legion are. So, the only change that will NOT be seen on The Legion, is the change to frenzy where survivors were previously in an injured state.

Yeah, that was addressed in earlier comments.

    These changes are still coming.
  • I’m never a fan of Perks that directly affect teammates in a negative way.
  • It was informative about the PTB which was nice, but not much else.

Still a lot of stuff that’s been delayed or scheduled to release in 2019 that weren’t addressed, like the Freddy and Decisive Strike Rework.

I wish there was more answers in regards to stuff that should be coming soon.

    No. Point.
Killers (that aren't 20s) would then just stay in front of the hook and wait for you to use it.

There’s 1500 Blood Points even if you go down immediately.

rip legion, we may see a buff/rework next year for him :(

    Still waiting on Freddy.
  • Leader only affects other Survivors, unless they’ve changed it.

LOL. This is so ironic. Everyone’s gonna be using Prove Thyself now, a perk that no one uses!

I guess it’s a good change to slow down the gen rushing.

Not really. Prove Thyself boosts gen repair now.

Yeah but by not as much :( I mean I used to use leader n prove thyself to get Max Gen speed (with resilience) but now that combo is kinda out the window with decreased output.
And tbh botany knowledge/we'll make it are already such commonly run perks, a 25% boost just feels negilible in comparisonModernFable said:

Well since the values for other action speeds have been significantly buffed, I don't feel like this was much of a nerf.

Actions that are irrelevant, except for maybe healing speed.
    Healing teammates is vital.

Opening an Exit Gate faster can make or break an escape.

Plus a quicker Unhook will change whether or not you can Borrowed Time save in front of a camper.

The other actions are also useful, although more niche.
I didn't think statuses like that (and vigil/streetwise) worked while you were hooked
Yeah, your Leader always affected people near you no matter what. So if you were hooked, they would unhook you faster.

This is still true and it’s much better, with the exception of Gens.
  • Noooooooooooooo, why community, legion just wanted a buff and you ripped it away, I dont give 2 shits about self care anyways, I just run pharmacy or a medkit

Well he still did get a buff.

  • Personally, I’d prefer they focus their Perk related efforts towards currently not used Perks.

Continue making changes like they just did with Surveillance and Spies from the Shadows.
  • I heard they teased a new game mode.. is that true?
I missed the first 15 minutes or so, so I can’t say for sure but:

Most of the stream was talking about balance, bugs, and interactions within the game. And when they were wrapping up, they didn’t mention a new mode at all.
  • Lol we posted at the same time.
Yeah, I thought it was funny too.

  • The Killer receive more Blood Points because:

    1. They are in the game the longest

    2. Survivor BP rewards for the Survival and Objective BP categories suck

The issue of inaccurate hits mostly stems from lag. Dead by Daylight is on peer to peer connection, not dedicated servers. So when someone has bad ping, it’s really noticeable.

Other than that, the Killer’s swing hit is a cone, not a traditional hit box. Otherwise things like 360s and dips in performance would make it arguably unplayable.
  • It’s true for Blood Points and Emblem Points that Altruism is heavily weighted.

The other categories give terrible rewards and incentives.
  • The reason the reward is much lower than healing another teammate is because of the ease and low risk of it.

You don’t have to find a safe spot for 2 people, you make quick decisions to relocate if necessary, and if you’re found and then escape: you don’t have to regroup.

Self Caring is much safer and easier to do than healing another person, despite the increased heal time.

If they were to increase the Blood Points for self healing, they’d also need to significantly increase it for healing others too.
  • I think you may be making a misunderstanding.

While they could very well be bad players, they most likely just don’t care.

There really isn’t any incentive to play well.

Cleansing totems, searching chests, and rushing unhooks are really safe and very rewarding actions for Blood Points.

    You’re punished for playing correctly.

Working on Gens while the Killer is camping may be the better play. But rushing the unhook with Borrowed Time for BP and Benevolence is much easier.

Dead by Daylight is really poorly designed in the sense that making the correct decisions for the sake of the team are not rewarded and more often than not result in risking yourself for no real reason.

TLDR: Dead by Daylight is designed like garbage.

  • Here are are all the Pig changes to discuss properly.

Unless I’m misunderstanding something the crouch is better now.
  • So when Leader says "all actions" does that include vaulting?

This is very important to clarify.

yes increase crouch speed, combat strap buff

The Terror Radius change isn’t all bad.

Running Distressing+Unnerving Presence on her is much better.

I think upping the BP gained so people see that big number would be more incentive.

You’re not rewarded emblem points when a Survivor dies via bleed out.

So speeding it up wouldn’t make it more viable, quite the opposite in fact. It would make it more difficult to find the Survivor in time and hook them.

Then don't slug? Most slug matches I've been in the last one has bled out and the killer is wondering around aimlessly looking for them while the survivor slides around the map for a bit.

If you want points for killing survivors then kill them, don't leave them slugged, simple as that.

You misunderstand, I’m not advocating one way or the other for slug changes.

I think it’s fine as is, and I use it when it’s useful.
  • Killer is something you might be interested in, since there’s no one else to blame but yourself.

Otherwise, if you only want to play Survivor you have two options.

    1. Find a more competitive group to play with

    Or

    2. Relax and don’t be as competitive, enjoy the time with you friends.
  • SenzuDuck said:

Slug bleedout should be faster in my opinion, which would make it less boring.

    1. it makes i more viable for killers as the survivor will die faster
    2. less time spent on the ground for survivors
    3. at end game when the survivor is hiding (downed) from the killer it prevents long empty gameplay

Maybe compensate the quicker death for a little more speed while slugged though to make hatch a little more possible, would have to tweak other perks that affect you while you're down though.

You’re not rewarded emblem points when a Survivor dies via bleed out.

So speeding it up wouldn’t make it more viable, quite the opposite in fact. It would make it more difficult to find the Survivor in time and hook them.
  • I think the Swamp maps are poorly designed for Survivors and Killers alike.
  • I think 3rd to 1st person would be too jarring.

However, reducing the field of view of the Survivor would be interesting. Still 3rd person, but the camera is much closer.

thats kinda dumb that I have to spend real money to get dlc

If we could get them for free we would never have any licensed killers in the game. Just be happy we're able to get the Original killers with shards, a lot of other game companies would only accept real money for DLC.

If there’s one thing in this game that’s pretty great without much argument, is the DLC model for characters.
  • No one is guaranteed the right to the Hatch, and the Killer may use any tool on their belt to stop someone from getting it.

Intentionally leaving is an explicitly reportable offense.

So you may do it, but if you get banned because you were a poor sport, then that’s on you.
  • Depends on your platform.

If you’re on PC report them on DBD and their Steam Profile.

If you’re on Xbox/PlayStation then report them on DBD, then to Xbox/PlayStation, and if the harassment is via messages then you can report those individually as well.

    Pictures and videos are helpful.
  • Just focus on the optimization and bugs for a while first. I don't care if we don't get any new content (other than quick to do events like the winter one) for a while, just as long as I can see improvement in the overall gameplay.

    Outfits for income.

Bugs and balance for overall improvement of game quality.

A new Killer/Survivor is all well and good, but if the game doesn’t work then it’s worthless.

You’re expecting the consumer to take up one of the developer’s jobs, just so they can receive a properly functioning product they paid for? That’s absurd.

You, as a consumer, can help make it better. They've given you the opportunity to help them make the game better for everyone, but you're saying no because "it's not my job". You're like the guy who throws trash on the ground because "it's someone else's job to clean up" and then complain that the streets are dirty. Yeah, it is someone else's job, but if you just put it in the trash can like you're supposed to, it makes their job easier and makes the streets cleaner.

I can’t say I agree with your comparison here.

You're implying that I and/or other players are actively making decisions that reduce the quality of Dead by Daylight in such a way that would add more work for Behavior.

The consumer isn’t throwing trash on the ground and telling someone else to pick it up.

The customer is going to a small auto repair shop to replace the engine of their car.

And while the car was there, an employee accidentally shattered the windows and slashed the tires.

Would it be faster to get some gloves on and help with the repairs? Yes it would.

But did the customer shatter the windows? No.

Did the customer slash the tires? No.

The customer isn’t supposed to do anything. They are supposed to pay for a product and recieve said product.

They aren’t complaining that the seats of their care are dirty, that’s their fault. They’re complaining because the auto repair shop just shattered their windows and slashed their tires.

Now their car is in worse condition than it was before, and they’re now supposed to help?

That’s ridiculous, if they want the help then there should be compensation for doing so. Since it was never the customer’s responsibility in the first place.
  • The balance issues surrounding the map aren’t too concerning to me at the moment.

Personally I’d rather it removed once more, because while it doesn’t crash the game anymore, it still has atrocious frame rate issues no matter the Killer.
  • There are about 20 or so horrendously bad perks.

Then about 40 more perks that aren’t good enough to justify using over the current meta perks.

Forget nerfing top tier perks right now, there are so many perks that need adjustments first.
  • @ModernFable said:
Testing different builds, reporting bugs, and fixing bugs is Behavior’s job.

The customer is in no way obligated to make sure a product ships working just because the developers give them the tools to do so.

True. I believe it would help if for the next roadmap, they would not plan a new chapter every 3 months and instead took their time.

Considering the content already comes out slowly, I’d rather them dial it back and fix things.

They need to make content to make money, I understand that. I also understand the bug and art teams are not interchangeable, so:

Slow down the release of new chapters and focus on cosmetics for revenue.

The rest target optimization and game balance. The game needs to work first and foremost, and after that the game has balance issues which can be imroved.

This isn’t a perfect solution obviously, as I’m missing a lot of internal information.

However if releasing chapters at this rate is too much for Behavior, then changes should be made.

Every patch for every game is expected to have bugs, that’s just how coding is.

Having bugs on a specific Killer or Perk isn’t terrible and is acceptable. Not ideal, not good, but acceptable.

    That being said:

Breaking the game’s audio and visuals to this extent, when they are crucial to any game, but especially Dead by Daylight.

That is unacceptable and this patch shouldn’t have come out as is.

The problem is that none of these bugs came up during QA or the PTB. Maybe if more people would actually use the PTB (to try to find bugs), instead of saying "nah, I should get paid for trying out new content before it's even released", we'd all have a better experience.

To be fair, the PTB isn’t simply early access content.

It’s a test build, a public test build, but it’s still a test build.

Testing different builds, reporting bugs, and fixing bugs is Behavior’s job.

The customer is in no way obligated to make sure a product ships working just because the developers give them the tools to do so.

If I buy a vacuum cleaner, it should come working.

I shouldn’t be forced to stress test a prototype of the vacuum cleaner, just to make sure I get a working product.

    Would it help them? Obviously.

Should the consumer have to do it to receive a working product? Absolutely not.

If they are in no way compensated for their time and effort essentially acting as testers, then it should be no surprise people don’t take it seriously.

It’s a job, a sometimes fun job, but when it comes down to it, it’s a job.

You’re expecting the consumer to take up one of the developer’s jobs, just so they can receive a properly functioning product they paid for? That’s absurd.

Can they do it without breaking some core features though?

Considering the corn is a world model with no collision atm, and all i can see them doing (as an example) is blackening, shortening the model and maybe animate it falling over, i don't think that would bug anything out as the corn isin't "attached to anything" its just something that spawns. it would just be a matter of "when player reaches x amount of survivors dead, have corn play this animation"

The density of corn and other foliage affects the frame rate.

So complicating something that already hurts performance is a no go for me.

Reducing the density of the corn would boost performance on these maps and help the “corn blindness” problem.
  • @ModernFable said:
I don’t think Behavior is competent enough for something like that.

However, just lowering the height of the corn would suffice.

And i think behaviour is actually competent enough haha, we have already seen dynamic gen related map effects with them opening doors, so this would be a dynamic map effect on the killers end. the more you kill the more the corn withers and dies.

Strictly speaking, yes, they can probably program it into the game.

Can they do it without breaking some core features though?

They used to have more meaning or more effects on the match, but the drastic ones that added fog or a darker moonlight have been removed. Offerings are indeed quite useless in terms of affecting anything inside of the match, as no particular offering has killed nor saved me but what would they become if they were more involved in gameplay? Another issue of balance, that is what. And unfortunately they get enough hassle about that as it is.

    Ebony mori changes everything tbh.

But they’ve implemented additional means of getting a Mori, like Rancor. Who’s not to say even the Mori offerings will go? Perhaps all Offerings will go but then what would replace the Bloodpoint boosting offerings?
Items and Add-Ons will fill the Blood Webs, they’re size will not change.

Blood Point gains can be directly increased.
  • I remember the first time I tried to use a Mori, I got a basement 4K.

I was so jazzed about it that I didn’t find out I forgot to use the Mori until one of the survivors messaged me.
  • I don’t see “the DBD community” anywhere on this list.

    Edit: there you go

    2. Performance increase
    3. Fixes for currently broken mechanics like Scratch Marks and general sound

There should be a harsher penalty for DCs in the game.

I do SWF with 1 other but it seems like people DC too much during the day.

Like getting tunneled and hooked early in the match....DC. Being the first dowm and hooked...DC. I don't see it as often in evening.

Make the penalty harsher for early disconnects. Something like unable to be matched for xxxx amount of time could work. As it stands, there's no real penalty to discourage people from DCing.

Whenever they announced Dedicated Servers they mentioned that punishing DC's would be possible. So i'm assuming they aren't possible atm or something but will be when Dedicated Servers come out.

Bans are given out on PC.

On Console, currently all they can do us log the reports and maybe one day ban them when the dedicated servers are up.
