Those all sound like just new engine issues.
Well, we had the best sound back in 2016. After the first engine update the sound got broken and we never could hear footsteps behind walls etc again. They said they gonna fix it but never really did. Maybe this happening again. Wouldn't surprise me tho
Right? Like "sound gets busted"........ stays busted for 6 months and is never as good as it once was after they "fixed it"...
Console frame rate has been broken since the Clown patch 6 months ago.

Every time it was brought up, it was shot down saying “shut up, the big optimization is coming in December.”

    Guess what? Still broken.
  • They broke a lot of things with the new engine update: such as visuals, audio, and general gameplay.

One important thing that broke was scratch marks. They are now much harder to see, depending on the surface and lighting.

Offerings and items in general make the game more exciting. If all of this was removed, we would not have any variety in fog, chest spawns, hook spawns etc. Every chase would be exactly the same as the last one.

They make the game feel like less of a grind because of variety, makes it so not every game feels the same even though it's the 5th game against a skillbilly.

If the selling point of Offerings is to increase game variety to make it feel like less of a grind, then they are unneeded.

Just make the fog, chests, hooks, etc. be different every match within a certain range.

I.e. 2-5 chests every match, or from low to moderate fog.

This would accomplish the same effect as those Offerings without cluttering the Blood Web.

For killers not really much of an upside when looking specifically at mori's except for the previously mentioned points.

Yes, I must include the perverbial disclaimer: Survivor main 🤣😁😜

    Edit: spacing and words

Unless killers could grab add-ons from lockers and equip them in game \o/

I like it but I gotta think about it a lil bit. If the lockers remain at the same quantity killers may suffer. If they are cut down survivors may suffer but not as much if it were just halved. Having 3 lockers would stink.... 🤔 I really like it though!!
Reduce the Lockers by half, double the Locker search speed, and let the chaos ensue.
  • I’d like it, I would.

But anything that makes performance worse is a no go for me.

    are you serious?

if you hate BT THAT much, then why not run counters for it? Or maybe just countering it?

Borrowed time activates in the terror radius, run perks that affect this or just get away from the hook.

Just wait out the 15 seconds endurance or just hit them twice.

Not to mention it literally just got nerfed...

    It got buffed tho...

So you call decreasing the timer by 5 seconds on each level a buff?

The timer no longer goes down while in a chase and you can now stop yourself from going down without the use of Self Care.

And you never actually lose those “5 seconds.”

When you’re hit with Borrowed Time you’re running and now in a chase.

By the time Dead by Daylight registers that you’re not in a chase, it will be well equal to or well past 5 seconds.

The Borrowed Time change was a sheer buff disguised as a shift.
  • Very unlikely, but yes I’d appreciate a big balance and fix patch.
  • Removing offerings would only fill the open bloodweb spots with addons or items, the net wouldnt suddenly get smaller because the pool of possible filler material shrank down.

    Correct.

I admit, the battlenet platform is decent too, but steam is still a lot better.

Steam has also had 15 years to develop its service and gain market dominance.

While these other storefronts may not be up to par yet, given time they’ll be much larger contenders.
    I didn't know you were a Seer.

Sarcasm aside, there is no way to know how those stores will develop.
You’re correct, but I’d also say it’s safe to assume that Epic and Discord won’t implode overnight.

I’m not saying they’ll be huge, but they’ll be much larger than what they are right now, which are basically ants to Steam.

So we are gonna complain about offerings too? God how many L’s are we all taking!?!?!?! Yeah some of the offerings suck. But it’s better than nothing in my opinion. How so?

In what way exactly do Offerings benefit the game?

For survivors and killers there's the bonus offerings to bp for categories say you've got a chase daily, well the boldness for survivors will help with that. Got a repair 3 total gens well objective offerings make that one great. If you've got heal/unhook ones well combine that with an Altruism offering and take wGLF and hit the BP jackpot.

If you're the killer and you get a sac daily well that sacrifice offering is sure nice, playing Trapper well use a Deviousness offering and wrack up that bonus bp.

Want the survivors to be separated well then use a shroud, want to be together use a shroud and start furthest away use a shroud. Want more chests, use that offering less chests use that one, more or less hooks well you get the picture.

Okay, now tell me how most of that couldn’t be solved better, by simply increasing how much Blood Points everything gives and removing the BP Offerings.

And tell me why it’s better to give players situational control of those gameplay elements like chest spawns and hooks, instead of naturally changing those numbers to a point that’s ideal.

Well blood points do affect your game for better items, add ons, and perks. BPs are kinda revolved around both killers and survivors as equal. Survivors get a lot less bps than killer tbh; unless the match was extended for reasons.

Dead by daylight...is an asymmetrical game. It will never be truly 100% balanced. Another chest spawn or two doesn't hurt. Besides killers also have that offering where they can literally remove 2 from even spawning in. Offerings don't do much of a play but it's more like a "slight head start" kind of thing depending on both sides.

    Yes but that’s my point.

Blood Points are important and affect a lot of a player's long term experience. Yet the rate that you gain Blood Points is heavily swayed by these Offerings that you may or may not have.

So why not remove them, and adjust the Blood Points everyone gains normally?

Some Offerings are relatively weak and some are wildly powerful, but they’re situational.

Why should one game have there be three less hooks and incredibly dense fog.

While another game gives the Killer the ability to remove a Survivor after just one hook.

I don’t see how this is possibly more fun or balanced in any regard, it’s more random if anything.

You say it’s asymmetrical and it’ll never be truly balanced. Yes that’s abundantly clear.

However, that doesn’t justify unnecessary features that serve little purpose other than to add another layer of randomness to the game.

It's completely optional though (offerings for extra hooks, chests, etc). I only started playing this game in August so I'm not sure if offerings even existed back then.I only like the fog offerings but that's it. It's easier to hide lmao.

I guess it's just a bit more extra into game play? Idk it depends on how the players play the game. It is pretty random but I think the only useful offers have to be the extra BP offerings.

Devs removing offerings...to add up all of the BPs in total...OOF...that ain't gonna happen chief I'm starting to realize what kind of devs these are.

I do agree with you about offerings being situational. Nobody really thinks about "oh hey my one hook got removed out of my other 8 hooks." or "oh man 2 chests were removed!". It doesn't affect BPs or game play as much.

But it’s not optional at all.

If I use an Ebony Mori on my Killer, the four Survivors I’m about to play with don’t have a choice.

Nor can I stop those same four Survivors from using Shrouds, Map, or Fog Offerings.

Gameplay affecting Offerings are unnecessary and often involuntary randomness.

Blood Point Offerings are unnecessary filler for Blood Webs to increase the grind.

I’ve yet to hear a single logical reason defending the continued existence of Offerings.
  • Gorgonia said:

If you remove offerings and you increase the bps rewarded within the game you would progress way too fast throughout the bloodweb. I don’t know if that’s what is expected or intended.

    There are 3 scenarios:
    1) current bp rewards + offerings
    2) current bp rewards + no offerings = the bloodweb would require half the bps to level
    3) improved bp rewards + no offerings = give or take, 150% to 200% faster progression depending on how much they improved the bp rewards.

The Blood Web would still be the same size.

It just would be filled with actual items and add-ons instead of filler.

Moreover, even if that wasn’t the case, the grind in Dead by Daylight is atrocious and should be lessened.

Some of this is due to map variants, but even so.

  • Compared to some other games I’ve played, like WoW, Hearthsone, or Destiny, the grind in DbD is pie.

Suicide Rates are worse in places like Greenland and Ukraine than the United States.

But that doesn’t mean it can’t or shouldn’t be improved in the U.S.

At the moment, only 1 perk shows up for the early webs, and then 2 later on.

I’d rather it be 3 perks the whole way through.

This way, even with the ever increasing amount of perks, it’s still relatively easy to get what you want.

I wouldn’t mind seeing 3 perks in the web when you hit lvl 50, but at early levels, that might be a bit much.

    Why?

Dead by Daylight is a huge grind regardless.

Would fragment the community unless they found a way to have crossplay with people on Steam.. Even then I don't see how that could happen due to the aforementioned Bill. I hope it doesn't happen, but we'll see.

That would be one of the easiest problems to solve.

Crossplay with different PC platforms already exist as mentioned earlier in this discussion.

As far as Bill is concerned, it would remain a Steam Exclusive. Players from other store launchers would still be able to see players using Bill, however they just wouldn’t be to unlock him.

If you’ve ever played a fighting game with purchasable outfits it’s the same concept.

You can see their outfits, but you can’t use them until you buy them. Only difference in this case would be that you couldn’t get Bill unless you’re on Steam.
  • Before I offer opinions to your suggestions, I would like to inquiry about what rank you have progressed to playing killer. The reason I ask is playing killer at the lower ranks is much different than games against more experienced killers. The same I would like to ask of what rank you have made it to as survivor.

I would also like to know this.

The difference of environments between rank 20 and rank 1 is staggering.

At the beginner ranks for instance, Freddy is one of the most intimidating killers in the game, due to the lack of player knowledge and skill.

At the more experienced ranks, Freddy is outstandingly terrible, easy to loop and abuse.

It problably wont happen cause DbD still uses a lot of steam's APIs. It is a steamwork game. Unless they are willing to create a new version without it, which would result in more work and we all know how efficient to fix and add new features they are.

This is true, however I have also seen how much faster they work when it involves their bottom line.

So I’m not worried about how long it would take.

Considering the game has a way of taking you to the same map several games in a row I'd argue map offering are the only way to keep your sanity at times.

That’s an inherent problem with the game and should be resolved separately.

Saying that map Offerings fix that, that’s one of the worst bandaid solutions I’ve ever heard.

After the dedicated servers arrive and the game is well optimized, then I really hope that Behavior will invest into many more employees.

Because the current rate of updates for the game is unacceptable to me personally.

I think the amount of updates are fine its just the quality of the updates isn't always what the community wants or the game needs. I feel like sometimes they get it right but in the next patch they take 3 steps backwards.

Lets also not forget the insane amount of bugs...I think Bethesda would be proud.

Coming from other games with bi-weekly updates or every 3 weeks, I think Dead by Daylight’s update schedule is absurd.

A month or so for a big content patch and then a whole ‘nother  month for a balance patch.

In other games I play, every update is a content and balance patch, and yet they still come out much much faster than what Behavior’s team manages to do.

    My bad, I missed it.
If you want a cheap PC, you don't buy a pre-built one. You get parts and put them together yourself. It's not as complicated as it looks. If you can read (manuals), aren't colorblind (this is not a joke; some cables are color-coded), and have played with blocks in kindergarten, you can assemble a computer.

    Got it. Thank you :chuffed:
I’d suggest Linus Tech Tips, they’re a YouTube channel that give especially useful information on how to build a PC and what is worth your dollar.

There are many others, but this is the first one that comes to mind.
  • I’m not particularly opposed to a time limit.

Something in place to avoid 30+ minutes games would be nice.

Although I don’t know if I agree with those numbers specifically.
Maybe need more or less time, but i think its very necesary for both sides. This game, at least for me, needs to be more strict in that aspect.

But you can say what would be the ideal time that should be added, or the mechanics that counter should have.
I really hope that the dev's paid attention to this, and that they will implement it in the future not so far away.
    I hope so too.
  • Survivor aura reading perks are highly situational. To spend a perk on something that is so situational is risky. Killer perks are for seek and destroy and care trigged by either the killer's actions, or actions you are guaranteed to see in a match, such as gens being done or healing. Killer perks are much more useful and are guaranteed to trigger in each match, aiding the killer in seeking out survivors. Survivor perks, not so much. Alert is probably the best of them. Pretty sure the killer will kick a gen or break a pallet in a match. The rest, very situational.

I’m pretty sure someone being injured or within 36m isn’t all that situational, for Empathy or Bond.

And I’m also quite certain that being hooked and unhooked are fairly common too, for Kindred and Breakdown.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I see these these things happen regularly in all my games. And being able to group up with teammates to work on Gens or Heal is something that help Survivors reach their goals, no?

These really aren’t very situational at all, wouldn’t you agree? Or they situational because you can’t always run them while also having Decisive Strike, Self Care, And Sprint Burst?

That's probably it. Explains Apple as well. It's amazing how consumers would rather get shafted than learn about the things they're using.

Well that is the case with all things, not just technology.

And in the case of consoles, it’s not all for convenience.

After all, you’re not gonna be able to play newest Zelda or Smash on a PC unless you participate in some unsavory practices.

In the case of Blood Point Offerings stating a specific category will only give extra Blood Points from what you earned in that category.

For this you look at the category, like Objective. If you earned 4,000 Objective BP and you have a 50% booster. Then you will earn an extra 2,000 BP.

Lastly it should be noted Blood Point Offerings do not stack with things like We’re Gonna Live Forever or Barbecue and Chili.

I understand that, but as I said earlier some people literally CANNOT afford to get a PC. You know nothing of someone elses living situations and if money is tight, it's not a myth.

Here's the thing, though: a gaming computer, if you build one yourself and don't "shoot for the moon", can cost as little as a console. Furthermore, keep in mind that even if you buy a console, you will still need a computer for personal use, whereas if you buy a computer, you kill two birds with one stone.

If consoles really were better, don't you think people who know this stuff would buy them instead of spending a ton more money on a top-tier PC?

While there is some truth to what you both are saying, I’d say the main draw that consoles have over PC is convenience.

There’s very little learning curve when it comes to console. Buy a console, buy a game, play a game. Maybe buy a membership if what you’re playing requires it.

However on the PC side, things are immediately more complicated. What GPU and CPU do I need for the games I want to play? Is the motherboard I bought compatible with my CPU? What about my memory? Where should I buy parts? What is the difference between AMD and Nvidia? What about AMD and Intel?

There’s a plethora of questions a person has to ask when building a PC, especially for the first time. And even if we are to remove that from the equation then a whole new set of problems arise.

How much should I pay for a premade PC? Will it have everything I need? What if it has a problem?

Once you get into PC gaming and understand the basics of parts and their importance, as well as learning about necessary programs, etc. everything smooths out.

However at the very start there’s no contest which is easier to understand. Additionally while a PC may very well save you more down the line, a consoles upfront cost is definitely cheaper.

You buy a console, by default you know it can play everything available on the store without a second thought. Now some games play worse than others, but the same is for PC.

The Deep Wound timer keeps going down while Mending up till it hits 0.

Once it hits 0 it will stop until you finish Mending or stop Mending and fall into the Dying state.
  • Breakdown and Dark Sense to keep track of the Killer during very pivotal moments.

Bond and Kindred to easily find teammates and see if the Killer is camping.

I could go on, but point is there’s all kinds of powerful Survivor Auras.

I'm just going to level up my Leatherface and get a basement camping build ^^

Do something cheesy like Agitation, Iron Grasp, Insidious, and Mad Grit

I'm all for getting the game on some other stores, but I'd much rather see it come to GOG than either Epic or Discord.

I’d rather it come to Discord and Epic, to further pressure other stores better their splits.

Then come to places like GoG, Humble, etc. after the fact.

    Where’d you hear that?

Because if that’s true then that’s awesome.

    From Peanits.
Report systems only stop working if people don't use them. Mods are not omniscient; they don't know what goes on in every trial ever. Also, just because you don't get a message saying "Thanks to your report, player X was banned" doesn't mean they don't work. Inversely, just because you do get such a message doesn't mean they do work. Having an automated system in place for those messages is far too simple.

    Neat.

Although it would still be nice to get feedback knowing that my reports are actual doing something.
