And don't forget how they would be Grandmaster if not for their brain dead teammates and Leavers (speaking from 2+ years in Overwatch, never played LoL).

Another favorite: I'm really a Grandmaster. But this Plat account is my Alt Account.

  • @DeadByFlashlight said: Its sad but those free weekends are the only time you can try to do achievments like evil incarnate because the new survivors usually arent that spoiled that they DC immediately

I'm brand new to the game, rank 20 killer and survivor. Last night, playing survivor, I was constantly getting two teammates DC'ing as soon as they were downed the first time. Different people between the matches, but it kept happening.

Really not a great impression of the game right out of the gate. Two Rank 20 survivors with 4 or 5 gens left is not doable when this new.

I finally just logged out and fired-up Overwatch again for the first time in several weeks. Okay, that was a mistake on my part, but that's a different topic.

2 times out of 3 is the same map... please make so you CANNOT play a map you played in the last 3 matches.
    This is pretty boring.
    Thanks.

Yeah, last night I got the exact same map three times in a row. Not another map in the "realm," but the exact same map.

I got bored and logged out for the night.

  • @Legacy_Zealot , Hey Freedy, you're supposed to kill things, not raise them from the dead. :p

  • @F5arTheB5ard said:
Get BBQ n chili first it will speed up your grinding so much. It doubles whatever your score was, as long as u at least hook everyone once.

I would choose one survivor and stick with them till you get their teachable. I would suggest claudette for self care or David king for were gonna live forever and dead hard is a great perk if used correctly

Yeah, I at first started Dwight, but switched to Claudette for SC.

  • @DeadByFlashlight said: YOu will need a lot more BP to get the proper perks for your killers, but on low ranks ( I assume you are low rank) perks dont matter that much.

If you really want to play killer, do it.

One advice though, try to get the perk BBQ and chilli as fast as possible, it really helps with the grind

Having grown up on the original Texas Chainsaw, Halloween, and Nightmare films, Leatherface is one of the Killers I came to play. :)

  • We have a lot of crows here in Baltimore County. I'm sitting in my home office getting ready to start work, and a bunch of them just sounded-off outside. My first thought was: There's a Survivor nearby.

  • @Hellrossa said: I don't know if Devs usually send warnings before banning someone. If not it might be more fair.

I don't know if Behavior does or doesn't, either. Outside of joining DBD, I play mostly Blizzard games, and Blizzard doesn't warn you first if you're exploiting. They ban you straight up if caught. They do warn you about toxic behavior first, but exploits are: see ya.

Usually, though, the first offense is a temporary ban of about 30 days. I've never been banned by them in 24 years of playing their games, but they make their procedure known.

  • @Tsulan Yeah, it really does have a steep learning curve. Outside of 20 years playing MMOs and games like the Diablo series, I did Overwatch from launch until a couple weeks ago. Couldn't do it anymore for a variety of reasons, and came to DBD to relax, have fun, and play some of my favorite Killers that I grew-up on (I'm 45-years-old). Moving from a game like Overwatch, where I knew each kit, who they work with, who counters them, all the map routes, et cetera to DBD is like night and day. I almost gave up yesterday after getting absolutely stomped one DBD trial after another.

Then realized two things. First, it has a learning curve and I need to learn the hide-and-seek and mindgames play style. This isn't like Overwatch, Paladins, or Heroes of the Storm. Two, I'm falling back into the whole "competitive" mindset that Overwatch caused me to have, that I came to hate about myself and why I finally left the game. I need to remember that I came here to simply have fun like I used to do in video games before Overwatch. I need to just relax.

All that said, DBD is rapidly becoming a favorite of mine. I've always loved horror. I grew-up on it. I write it for a living. This game is everything that's up my alley. I just need to purge the "competitive" mindset virus that Overwatch put into my mental programming.

  • @Hellrossa I get what you're saying, but sometimes it's just not the reality of the job. I've worked in game design in the past. Even for a studio as large as Blizzard, which Behavior is not, there are still limited people on the team to handle bug and exploit fixes, some are easier to find in the code than others, and limited time to work on a particular one if other ones have to take priority.

The bottom line has always been: Until it is fixed, using it repeatedly will get a player banned. They were absolutely right in banning OchiDO for what he did. He knew better than to show how to do them on his Streams. He wasn't new to gaming. He did it because he's an arrogant little twat, and rightfully got banned.

  • @Tsulan said:

Just don´t unhook in front of the killer, unless you have Borrowed Time (Bill teachable).

Yeah, I wish all new players knew that. Played Survivor last night. Every time I got hooked, no matter the match, here comes a moron to unhook me with the Killer mere meters away.

    Pissed me off, each time.

Fortunately,. I'd watched videos and streams for a while before buying the game, so I knew all that. This is one of the few games I really looked into beforehand.

  • @GrannyonAcid Well, that's basically what's happened in Overwatch. They admitted that Competitive is the least played mode. From highest to lowest, it goes: Arcade, Quick Play, Competitive. And like here with Ranks, the SR system is so screwed up over there, that many who did play Competitive stopped and went to Quick Play. And now we have (or had, since I left the game now), casuals playing for fun and whoever they wanted versus the tryhards who wanted competent team comps and competitive level play in Quick Play.

It's a war that continues on the forums to this very day. Casual vs Tryhards is as bad over there as Survivor Mains vs Killer Mains on this forum.

I'll admit, that was me. I couldn't take their screwed-up SR system anymore, all the leavers and throwers that would cost SR, et cetera, and just played QP expecting serious matches.

The two do not mix. I became the kind of gamer I never cared for. The whole idea of "play for fun," went out the window with Overwatch. Oh, it started out that way, until Competitive mode was added to the game several months after launch. Perhaps interestingly, I am far from the only one this happened to, and many others have cited it as the reason they've put the game down and started moving on.

Overwatch just seems to have a strange effect on people. I refuse to get baited and allow DBD to do that to me. I'm playing this damned thing for fun, I don't care how many Survivors escape me.

I've already seen enough people DC in this game in my mere 20 hours into it, and enough Streamers de-pipping in public view, that I will go back to Competitive in Overwatch before I waste the time doing it here. Not to mention, I've already spoken to a number of people in post-game chat who were Rank 20 Survivor and showed absolute map knowledge in the match, who stated that they were higher ranked Killers and experienced with the game, and just now switching to Survivor. So, with the Ranks separated between the sides, it throws off the whole Rank vs Skill argument anyway. They might be a Rank 20 Survivor, but they are far from a Rank 20 Player.

Which, of course, throws my Killer matches out of whack because I'm actually facing much more experienced players sometimes. And that's another reason that I'll just play DBD for fun, and not worry about Rank. It's akin to facing smurf accounts in Overwatch.

  • @GrannyonAcid Oh absolutely. Years ago, Blizzard admitted that less than 10% of their player base in WoW even touched raiding, never mind the small percentage of that base 10% that were hardcore. That was why they eventually created the LFD and LFR modes, for those people. And LFR is the most used mode. And what is it? The casual mode.

I played WoW from Beta until Legion (so, 2004-2018, then I left it behind and didn't buy BFA) and until LFR in 2011, I never touched a single raid in the game. From 2011-2018, I only did LFR raiding.

Blizzard made its fortune understanding that casuals are the majority. Even Vanilla WoW was marketed directly (and loudly) to the casual players. By today's standards Vanilla WoW isn't casual, but back in 2004 when the MMOs were EQ1, SWG, and all the other ultra-time sinks, WoW was very casual for that market. That's why it exploded mainstream like it did, and introduced millions of new people to the MMO genre. It's also what helped cause the first design shifts, because other studios wanted some of those new people and knew that the pre-WoW designs were not going to grab them.

  • @HeroDanTV Just followed you. I have a few that I follow, with the largest being only around 10k followers. I prefer the small to medium sized Streamers, to be honest. I find them more entertaining, fun to interact with, and have better communities.

Being 45-years-old, I kind of like StreamDad as well. So, yeah, I'm in on your channel.

As far as Behavior combating toxic behavior, I wish them the best of luck. Jeff Kaplan admitted that they spent a damn-well bit of time trying that in Overwatch. To the point that it delayed development on intended features in the past year. And you know what? It worked for them for all of about a month, and then all the toxicity was back again. So, Behavior it likely spitting into the wind on that endeavor. Blizzard has a hell of a lot more money to toss into that war, and can't get a win.

Haven't been "rekt" at all. No doubt I'm better in anything I do versus you. Grats to being a "Vet" or a "Pro" on a game with maybe a player base of 200 players. Tell ya what though your anger is very amusing

Well, it does hit 25k-30k players a day on the Steam Charts in the early afternoon, east coast time. Then drops to 13k-15k in the evenings. So, more than 200 people, but a small community, no doubt.

I don't know what console has for population. I only know what Steam reports.

@GrannyonAcid Yeah, I can't fathom why they made a Rank-only mode, or a Rank mode at all, for a game that is obviously never meant for an eSport or even an actual competitive scene. It would have been better to just have a hidden MMR that matched players against each other, which would still have effectively kept the High MMR experienced Vets from steamrolling new players.

Instead, Behavior went this way, and it makes no sense to me.

It'd mind blowing the community that DBD has. Mental health issues is what I would say most of the community has. Back in 2016 when this game came out. It was full of infinite juke spots. Spots in every single map... 2-3 of them a map. Where you couldn't catch a survivor at all. There was no bloodlust or anything like that. Every time they got injured they would run to these spots and do the same loop over and over again. Without a possibility of getting caught. Then they'd go on your profile and say, "Get your ankles broken." "Get good kid." ... They flaunted like they were a starting pitcher throwing a perfect game in MLB.

Winning because of spots that make it so you CANNOT lose! But people still found a way to make it competitive. Stroked their ego to something they couldn't lose at. Of course not all players used them. Probably just 80%.

Oh, you get the same type of people in most PvP games, even when they use something that is basically an "easy-mode." You guys had those spots. Overwatch had Brigitte when she first released before the needed nerfs.

I'm 45-years-old, and I think after a while the whole scene does affect you. I mean, I came to DBD to get the hell away from everything I put myself through being a "competitive gamer" in Overwatch, at my age no less in a twitch-reflex heavy game like that. And what did I do here? First thing I did was come to the forums and ask about Builds to use. Got sound advice. Then I worried about grinding out Bloodpoints in the most effective newbie way. It got to the point that I looked at all this being 2-years behind the curve and was going to just shelve DBD. To the point that I logged into Overwatch again tonight and played a few matches. Needless to say, that wasn't a good move.

I logged out of that game and had to put myself in check. Reflexes and habits are hard to break, but goddamnit, I am not going that route again. I used to play just for fun before the whole Overwatch thing from 2016-2018. Even in MMOs for 20 years, I played casual and for fun, I didn't top-tier raid or chase the gear. Ditto for games like the Diablo series.

Overwatch is like a virus in my programming, and it's time to purge it. I came to DBD just to relax, have fun, and play like in a horror movie: either kill the poor saps, or play a poor sap and escape the killer or be a victim.

And no rank number tossed into the game by Behavior is going to send me back down that road. I'm done with it. I'm too old for that #########.

  • @GrannyonAcid Yeah, I can't fathom why they made a Rank-only mode, or a Rank mode at all, for a game that is obviously never meant for an eSport or even an actual competitive scene. I gain blood points faster at lower ranks.

Lower ranks are better for leveling my killers.

And if the vast majority of players suck, and are at lower ranks, why not support the majority of the player base?

everyone gains bp faster at lower ranks. grinding shouldnt be your endgame, and after a few hundred hours, your focus should shift from grinding to fun/competition in this competitive game.

im not saying dont support low rank randos.  most low rank randos dont often stream at all. im saying that the people you should be supporting are the ones not dcing, and actually playing at rank1, because its better for you as a viewer to see real skill, than to watch deranked swf bully low level killers.

and again, if you are capable of playing at rank1, do that. you arent gaining skill by playing at rank15. bloodpoints come and go, they shouldnt be your focus. if your focus is bp, you probably arent really having fun, and definitely arent competitive.

im putting this out there to help people like you, who are content to a life of mediocrity (averageness) instead of reaching your potential.

be more epic. i know its in you. no offense, but you people need to reach down there, find your balls, and use them.

But you fail to consider players like myself. I came to DBD from 2+ years in Overwatch where I did play Competitively and in the ranked matches. You know what? It finally wore away at me and helped cause me to hate playing the game. Playing Overwatch and maintaining rank went from being a fun game to being a chore. Even enjoying casual Quick Play after that was a lost cause. I just didn't want to look at the game anymore.

When I came to DBD, I specifically did so to just have fun playing a couple of my favorite horror movie Killers. I don't give a damn about Rank except as far as the queue times are concerned, and really have zero interest in playing DBD competitively. Been there and done that, and am done with it. Behavior chose to have a ranked-only mode if you want Bloodpoints, but I refuse to worry about their ranks.

I will likely only ever be mediocre in DBD, and I am perfectly fine with that. I refuse to play this like I did Overwatch. I've decided as of tonight to not even chase the teachable meta-perks, because I'm just not going to sit here and look at Bloodpoints and what a ######### grind that is for a new player.

  • @PhantomMask20763 said:
You're perfectly fine with what you're doing right now. It's always good to learn both sides and once you get the perks you want on the characters you want to play then you're all good to go. Just have fun with leveling up and experimenting with different builds

Yeah. See, the problem that I have is that on PC, the Rank 20 Killer Lobbies absolutely suck. Including wait time and match time, I get about two matches an hour, three if lucky. Have a poor match learning a Killer, and the BP reward is low. But I'm stuck in the match until all four escape or die.

Rank 20 Survivor pops a lot faster. Have a bad match and you're out, on to the next one. And with the faster Lobby pops, it's just a net of more BP per hour of play. Which is always a consideration in a game with a grind.

So, while Killers get more per match, due to the Rank 20 Lobby times versus Survivor, the net BP on Survivor is just better per hour. Obviously, that should change once at Rank 15 and above. But wanting to at least unlock the four Perk slots on my favorite Killers, it's just faster to play Survivor and spend the points on the Killers. Then when I can play them and lobby-time grind the pips, at least I'm not taking forever just to unlock the slots. Especially when I'm already regularly facing Survivors with all four slots open, and I'm only running one or two Perks on the Killer side.

  • Thanks for all the feedback so far, everyone.

  • @chococri said:
Playing as killer you learn a lot about being a better survivor. Also, you need to learn the perks and addons of every killers so you wont be clueless survivor.

What you are doing is fine. I'm currently focusing on survivors meanwhile I try to use all the addons I have of Mikey before getting his prestige I.

Yeah, I'm, not looking for BP-dump level my Killers to 50 or anything. But I figure around level 20, that way I have the four Perk slots open and some add-ons. Playing them post at least level 15 is rough.

Now, Killers that I just don't care for the playstyle for, such as Hag and Nurse, I'll BP-dump to get the teachables. But that's because I have zero interest in playing them anymore after testing them out. Just not my playstyle. I've never cared much for blinking or teleporting. It's why Tracer sat and rotted in Overwatch.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing as both your posts. Whatever his beliefs and leanings, I don't personally care. But using your real name on your profile and then having things like Mark Dice is just asking for a target to be painted on you. And on the internet, that can be a fairly huge target.

  • @ZombieGenesis and @Exyes Oh, I've been playing both so far. Eventually, I'll be a Killer main, but thus far I have been learning both sides of the game. So, no worries there. It's just that after playing Killer, I see how add-on dependent they are. For example, Nurse for the Blink buffs, Trapper to be able to carry more than one trap, et cetera.

I think before I focus on maining a Killer, I'm going to pump them with bloodpoints first.

@CoolAKn Thanks. I don't know about bleeding my guys as I go, but I think that before I "main Killer" down the line, I'm going to feed them BP and levels first. Not having all the Perk slots and some add-ons really sucks.

You can also get hardware banned for being good in this game and looping people for whole games remember that lol.

That's actually not true at all. Looping is not bannable.

If you're talking about Ochido, he was banned for:

    • exploit (several times) and showing how to use these exploits,
    • griefing (sandbag on purpose other survivors, ruining their game experience by coop with the killer),
    • witch hunting (asking his community to mass-report a killer he played against),
    • trying to avoid ban with several accounts,
    • hacking his progress (as an example, he had a P3-50 Clown at rank 1 the day after the release of Clown, which was rank reset, and with XP still at level 1... literally impossible without hack).

And for being a damn pedophile degenerate.

Wait . . . what? I knew about the guy that was (now formerly) in the Overwatch League, but what's this about Ochido? I don't follow or watch him, because just from what I hear he sounds like the same type of ass that xQc is over in Overwatch, but is there proof of what you say?

  • @Hellrossa said: All these reasons are good to ban someone. Except the exploit one, this is not the players fault to use exploit. They are results of bugs or bad design that has to be fixed by devs.

If they are in the game, then they're permitted. Nowaday we can patch a game easily so exploits shouldn't be an issue for too long.

But I understand the point ;)

And every major game developer would disagree with you. I know of no development studio that allows the intentional reveal of an exploit, never mind the repeated reveal and showing how to use it, like he did. Developers are very clear that a discovered exploit should be reported via a Bug Report and never posted on the forums. That guy was asinine enough to do it more than once on his Stream.

And repeatedly using an exploit in the game will also get you banned if discovered. This is true of every online game I have played over the past 20 years.

Whether or not it can be fixed or patched quickly and isn't, it has always been: stumble upon it, fine, but don't use it again. Use it repeatedly, and expect a ban. Fair or not, it's their rules. Again, it's not just a Behavior thing, pick your online game.

I am just curious now, what do you consider a win to be? As a survivor and as a killer? What is a win?

I recently came here from being in Overwatch since launch. Over there, a win/loss was clearly defined. Over here in Dead by Daylight, it isn't. And I love that.

I honestly don't look at my trials as a win or a loss, but whether or not I had fun. I look at pips and bloodpoints as whether or not I did decent, and how I need to improve my gameplay (which is a lot, since I am brand new to the game).

Games are a lot less stressful when I don't have to see Victory or Defeat pop-up on my screen.

  • @AshleyWB said:
Getting gud as killer means having to run ruin or noed everytime. Game imbalance is real.

This is every game I have ever played with a talent or loadout system, whether it is a PvE game like an MMO or a PvP game like Paladins. There are cookie-cutter loadouts that are almost a necessity to run and are Meta because they simply synergize too damned well.

It isn't that game imbalance is real, it's that game balance is a myth. I've done some game design in the table-top RPG industry (12 years worth), and even there a game is never actually balanced. That's why the whole concept of a min-maxer has existed since the 1980s and still exists today in both table-top and video games.

Even when one Meta build is nerfed to not synergize as well (that so-called balance), there will always be others. There are simply too many moving parts in build systems like this. Never mind when new assets are introduced as time goes on (i.e. Perks on new Killers and Survivors in this game).

  • I see this in Overwatch when someone hits high rank or plays long enough. I see it in HoTS hen someone hits high rank or plays long enough. I see it in Paladins hen someone hits high rank or plays long enough.

It's the nature of PvP games. If a constant drip of rewards is your goal, then perhaps an MMO, or a co-op game like Borderlands 2, would be a better choice at this point in time. Not being snarky, but the idea behind a lot of these types of games is to constantly challenge yourself to improve and do even better against your opponents. Working on getting that 4k consistently as a Killer. Maxing out BP categories as a Survivor. Testing new and off-the-wall loadouts. And so forth.

If those things don't appeal to you, then you might just be at the point where DBD isn't the game for you right now. Nothing wrong with that. I mean, hell, after two-plus years in Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm, I finally shelved those games and came here a couple weeks ago. I even have every cosmetic in both games that I actually want, so even cosmetic rewards are done for now. They ran their course with me, and it was time for me to move on.

Gotcha. Not really a big deal for me. As I said a few posts above, I wanted to main Killer, but since Rank 20 queues on PC equate to: Go play a different game if you actually want to play any matches,. I've considered just biting the bullet and going Survivor. In which case, I was just going to go with an all-out ######### it and just SWF a 4-man. If I can't get three friends to come to the game, there are enough Discord player-groups to join.

It's not a horror game, no. It's a horror-themed game, which doesn't have the depth or mechanics (lack of variety in gameplay, for example*) to actually scare you past the first couple of matches.

*And this is fine - it's a somewhat casual arcade game, and we like it that way.

It's not only that. Any "horror game" fails to maintain the horror aspect over extended times of repeated play. It's just the nature of us as humans and how we get desensitized to things. Horror games work damned well in the single-player format, but not if you play through them repeatedly. It's the same with horror films and horror novels. I say this as a fella who's been an author for over 25 years and writes some horror stuff. You can scare them the first time through, and there might be some scenes that continue to affect them on subsequent viewings or read-through, but over all the horror aspect of that product eventually wears off.

I've done articles over the years on why people like to be scared, and a lot of it, from all research, comes down to the adrenaline rush that it causes. But after a while, watching the same horror film, reading the same horror book, or playing the same horror game, that rush and sense of fear diminishes.

So, a horror game in the format of DBD was never going to maintain the horror feel over the long-term. It reaches the point of then becoming a competitive game of us vs them. Is that a bad thing? No. It's just the nature of the beast. You might get an adrenaline rush, but at that stage it's more in-line with the kind you get playing most PvP games.

  • It's annoying to be sure. As a new player, I wanted to main Killer. But with Rank 20 Killer queues on PC being an absolute joke, I might as well go Survivor. Well, I won an extra copy of DBD from a Streamer's giveaway this past Sunday. Already gave that one to a family member. Maybe I will just buy two more copies and gift them, set-up the Discord server, and go SWF.

Since I can't get matches as a Killer at Rank 20, and have to just play Survivor, might as well take advantage of ######### and SWF.

  • It would be nice, especially for us new players. I already sit and stare at the goddamn lobby screen for far too long as a Rank 20 Killer. I would like, for example, to practice Nurse's blink. But when I average two matches an hour (that hour includes the playtime for the two matches), I might as well forget ever learning Nurse unless I just want to one-trick.

At least with a Training Grounds, there is a way for us new folk to learn the maps, or practice certain Killer powers, et cetera, with the low-rank Killer queues on PC being an absolute joke.

I love DBD, but if these queues for new Killers keep up, I might just end-up going back to another game. It takes far too long to learn the game as a Killer with sitting in Lobby until I want to fall asleep. Not fun.

On a different note about those queues (since I don't want any Training Grounds to ever offer bloodpoints or progression) never mind being able to play enough to finally rank up to 15, where most people hover at the minimum. I'd have to play enough hours out of a day that it'd become a career, and I already have one of those.

I notice that DBD on the Steam Charts averages 25k-30k players during the late afternoon, and only like 13k-15k during prime gaming time in the evening (when I have a chance to game). I'm sorry, do people that play DBD on PC not work during the day?

Ahhh, gotcha. And though I didn't play F13th, I am familiar with that mode.

I really want to learn Nurse, myself, but it is beyond frustrating to do that as a Rank 20 killer when it takes forever to get a match as Killer. Some sort of alternate mode to practice in is badly needed, especially with new Killer players having [BAD WORD] insane lobby times.

Someone awhile back had the idea of different ranks for each of your killers to encourage playing with other/new killers. Yes, i can see some abuse it but i can also see more variety in played characters and would improve the experience of those players.

I don't. Maybe. But they desperately need to do something about the low-rank Killer lobbies.

Anything being looked at @not_Queen ?

@Kilmeran that comment is mostly for the people who feel they haven't won without killing 4. A bots mod where you could practice with new killers and perk builds actually would be really good. Even if it was scenario mods. If you played F13th the had moments from movies and you needed to hit a certain objective. Something like that wouldn't even be bad.
    1. Stop the last 2 survivors from getting the last generator
    2. End the chase as quick as possible
    3. Kill the Jake sabotaging all your hooks
    4. etc

    Rank 20-16?

    Thats my guess too

Hail the devs for the great idea to make queue time insane for beginner players. Who thougth again that this would be a great idea?

As a beginning player more interested in the Killer side than the Survivor side (I have played both), yeah, this is asinine. If anything drives me from the game, despite loving DBD, it's going to be that. Getting two matches in an hour on average means it's going to be a career to progress to Rank 15.

    I already have a career, I don't need a second one.

Survivor complain A LOT about getting slugged… and Devs listen to them… sadly...

They also complained about camping so now if you're chasing in 16m radius it affects your chaser emblem. I never camp but now survivors can easily abuse this.

Really? Is that in the patchnotes?

    In the ptb patchnotes, yes

I swear to god, I am still missing finding that note. What category is it under? There are a ton of notes in that PTB build.

With all the trouble they’ve had on release dates I doubt they will set anything in stone. I would just like to see an example or sneak peak of what may be in the works

    Bots....bots for killer's to 4k with...

Well, I personally know several online friends who like DBD, but would also like a bots mode. Not one that rewards Bloodpoints or progression, mind you, but one where they can go into to learn maps, gets used to juking and looping, get used to blinking with Nurse, et cetera. Sadly, not everyone has friends to do KYF with, or friends that play the same times they're able to.

It'll be interesting to see if anything changes with the screenwriter regaining rights of franchise.

Not much. He only won in regards to the original movie screenplay and its elements. That does not touch the hockey-mask killer, which appears in film #3 as the article points out.

Also, read the correction/addition at the end. Apparently Miller did not win rights to the title "Friday the 13th," either.

This might actually free-up the Friday the 13th game developers to continue making content for the game. I guess we'll see. I never played it, though. I'm happy here in DBD-land.

    https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3524534/statement-regarding-friday-the-13th-court-ruling-franchise-producer-horror-inc/

But trust me, legal battles will continue as Victor, I am sure, goes after the hockey-masked "Jason" being derivative of the character/boy from his screenplay. Then he'll probably start a trademark ownership battle if he wins that one.

If he picks additional fights, then by the time it's over many years from now, he might have very well shot himself in the dick, because this isn't exactly the Golden Age of Slasher Horror anymore, and Jason being out of the production cycle too long will kill any financial power with the upcoming generation of movie-goers.

This change is dumb and will backfire harder than Clintons 2016 election campaign.

Bloody hell, that was the hardest laugh I've had all day. Great analogy! :)

I hope survivors like camping because BHVR just ensured there's a lot more of it coming.

Even being new to the game, I immediately realized this.

  • @Tsulan said: I strongly recommend you to finish the killer objective (if there is one) first. Or to completely skip on playing killer during a event. Because playing killer during a event can be very frustrating.

Indeed. I tried that during the recent double BP event. I got so frustrated with the queue, that instead of playing Survivor, I just went and did a weekend in Overwatch.

Well, I left Overwatch for DBD. Playing that weekend back in Overwatch was a mistake. I can't stomach the game anymore. After 24 years as a Blizzard player, I just can't stomach them as a developer anymore. So, needless to say, next Event I will get my Bloodpoints happily playing Survivor.

I love DBD. I had intended to buy the game at launch, but hit a bad financial stretch due to investments taking a dive. Couldn't buy any games in 2016. I only joined Overwatch at launch because it was a surprise early Father's Day gift from my (at the time) 23-year-old son, since a lot of friends and family were joining it. They all left in 2017, and only the wife and I remained until 3 weeks ago. I finally remembered about DBD during the Summer Steam Sale and bought the game and all the DLCs (bought the Spirit a few days ago). And still DBD sat all summer due to friggin Overwatch with the wife. I am so glad she finally threw her hands up at the game and walked away a few weeks ago.

But man, two years post-launch, I am so behind the curve in this game.

Well, I'm new to DBD. Came over after two years of Overwatch because I grew sick of Blizzard making a couple billion off the game and not doing ######### with it unless it involves the OWL. After 24 years playing Blizzard games, I'm done with them.

So, looking forward to my first DBD event.

Are you playing survivor or killer?

I only have like 16 hours in the game right now, so a mixture of both so I can effectively learn the game. I do, however, eventually plan to main Killer.
