  • I clicked the "X" in its upper right corner a couple days after they first posted it. I haven't seen it again since. Same thing with the Mash-Up video for today. I clicked the "X". Poof, gone.

  • @Bbbrian2013 If you are correct, then I guess it's time I play something else for a month until I see what the mid-chapter patch looks like. And maybe permanently if the mid-chapter patch notes don't fix a ton of stuff. Because there is no way in hell that I'm going to play this clown fiesta of bugs and issues for another month (or even longer) as-is.

I've been in Beta games that weren't this bad.

  • @Detective_Jonathan In all my games, my movement keys are remapped to Q, W, E, S. It's just what my fingers are comfortable with. I can't use A and D for movement without joint pain. Just like any LFT-CTRL is remapped to LFT-ALT.

I didn't even know there was a benefit to that with Billy. Then again, my Billy rots at Level 1.

  • @KillermainBTWm8 Yep, I've heard similar stories from multiple DbD players that had the misfortune of getting into a match with the wrong DbD streamers.

Like with Overwatch, there are just too many toxic streamers in this community. Now, in a game like Realm Royale with streamers like IdiotMouse, Gentle_Giant. Aero_TV, Krippler, and the like, I have no issue playing with the streamers. It's a shame that game is so damned small, because its community is amazing. It really shows you how toxic the DbD community truly is. Shame.

  • @KillermainBTWm8 They're using the interface for Apex Legends as an example. Now, the one thing I do like about the Streamer mode in Apex Legends is that it also allows you to automatically hide the names of your teammates and opponents to not appear.

That, for me, is a huge thing that every game needs to have. Right now, I will just lobby dodge in DbD if I get into a lobby with someone with a TTV name, or without TTV but I know for a fact that they're a streamer. I don't want my name broadcast out there, and given the nature of some Streamers' communities, I'm not opening myself up to attacks on Steam or other places simply because their Streamer-god got outplayed.

  • @Yamaoka I play on PC, so I have after match chat permanently closed. I never see the salt, and if they're trying to type to me: joke's on them. :)

  • @MandyTalk Not sure if you guys changed the font color a little, or if my eyes adjusted, but it's not painful at the moment.

  • @MandyTalk and @not_Queen Okay, the blue background is an improvement. Now, is there any way for them to tone down the brightness of the white text? Maybe a slightly off-white?

  • @not_Queen and @MandyTalk On a large monitor, it gives a migraine in less than a minute (not an exaggeration). This is one of the most painful contrasting forum sites I have encountered. Even the white text on black is painful for some reason, and that shouldn't be the case.

On mobile, it is completely unviewable.

  • @Shad03 Yeah, it hurts like hell. I'm looking at this on a large 144hz monitor, and I can't do it. I got a headache in about a minute. If this theme stays, my forum days are over.

  • @Watery I know how I feel: It is horrible. On my 144hz monitor, it is an eye-sore and gives me a headache just after a minute or two.

  • @Kim Yes, you should totally get Legion. I find him a lot of fun to play. As @Peasant said: he is easy to pick-up, but hard to master.

  • @MightyMischief and @Shad03 Yeah, disconnects are an epidemic spreading like a zombie plague in close-quarters. Unfortunately, Behavior isn't looking at doing more about them until after dedicated servers. Matter of fact, Peanits already stated as much in threads a week or so ago.

As far as a Legion rework, I wouldn't hold your breath. Whether he needs it or not, how long has a Freddy rework taken and still isn't here? I have no faith that a Legion rework will happen any faster. Especially with resources already dumped into dedicated servers and all the stuff necessary for that, as well as the Switch port for the Fall. Plus the resources already invested in three more chapters yet for this year.

  • @Snapshot You have to do a Google search for Nvidia Freestyle and see if it's whitelisted by EAC. I don't know for sure, because even though I have it, I don't actually use it.

Other than that, you try it and take a chance.

If it doesn't appear on the EAC whitelist, then the usual stance from Behavior is a post telling you to use it at your own risk.

  • You will only get banned if it's a third party program that EAC has on it's bannable list.

Considering every time I enter DbD, or any other game that uses EAC, I get that Alt+F3 Nvidia overlay reminder popping up in the corner of my screen, and I can play DbD, any Hi-Rez game, and Apex Legends just fine, I'd say: Nope.

  • @dovleac Absolutely no to your suggested Pig change. If you want just going to any clown station to be an automatic getting the trap off, then Pig needs unlimited traps. The fountains work that way for Plague because she has unlimited potential to sicken survivors.

Pig only has four traps per match, and no way to get more. That's why the clown stations are RNG if they'll take it off. It's meant to slow things down more, and accounts for her limited supply.

So, as I said, unless Pig is given unlimited traps the way Plague can just keep puking, then absolutely not.

  • Depends on the survivor team and/or my general mood that match. Sometimes, when it's down to 2v1, I will slug one, get the other on the hook, and then hook the slugged survivor just for the 4k.

Sometimes, I won't care and the last one can have the hatch. I'll hook the third survivor and then park the killer somewhere while the last one runs to the hatch.

  • On the odd occasion this happens to me as killer, I just place the killer in the basement, minimize DbD, and launch Paladins or Overwatch. I'll queue for a match, and maybe play a match or two, while the survivor thinks they're trolling me and holding my game hostage. I can easily run multiple games at once on this PC without lag.

Usually, one match in Paladins or Overwatch and they're gone. But, there was a night last week where I played five matches before the idiot finally left the DbD map. By then, though, I was having a good run in the other game, so closed DbD and Steam down once we were out of the post-match screens and didn't play anymore that night.

    "Harsher ban system"

This made me chuckle. If it's anything like the last half dozen "harsher systems", DCers have nothing to worry about. But then again, not a single mention has been posted about his imaginary "harsher ban system at release", so there's that too.

@Sythalin Look, I'm going to be complete honest here. I just returned to DbD a few week ago after around seven months away from the game. And I'm already about to the point of walking out the door again. From the DC epidemic, to the crashes, to the uncountable bugs, to Behavior's absolute lack of any real communication with their customers, I only play a few matches a week, already.

I'm giving them until the upcoming mid-chapter update. If they don't have balls to the wall with that one and fix a lot of stuff in DbD, that's probably it for me. At that point, it doesn't matter about dedicated servers, or the three remaining chapters for 2019, or any events. If that update doesn't address the things that need to be addressed at the foundation, then there's no point in wasting further time with them.

  • Considering Behavior does very, very little to communicate with their customers anymore, I have absolutely zero desire to help them.

They've made their bed. Now what will be, will be.

  • @GT_Legend2 I agree.

I can't speak for purple or red ranks, but I've had to throw matches in yellow ranks as killer because I am pipping way too fast. I don't even have enough bloodpoints accrued yet to have unlocked teachables on anyone but Bubba, and yet am rapidly heading into the Vet de-ranked territory as a bonafide baby killer.

    Thank you, but no.

I'm looking forward to rank reset this weekend, because I plan to avoid pipping too much until I've at least had the time to learn the damned killer-game and unlock some perks for an even half-way decent build.

The fact that I am going to have to juggle getting BP and making sure to not get Pips at the same time is asinine. If anything, Ranks 20-10 need to be harder to Pip than they are right now. People need time to learn to play killer, experiment with killers to figure out what few work best for them, and grind out some perks, before being sent into the green ranks where they'll be going up against career de-ranking Vets.

  • This patch was fairly normal for their little hotfix patches.

Now, weeks from now, when the mid-chapter patch comes out, and still likely doesn't fix what needs to be fixed, and just as likely adds even more bugs, then I'll be right there in the threads with y'all with my pitchfork.

I'll also be withholding my money and not purchasing the June chapter release, nor any others, if this mid-chapter patch isn't amazing and finally fixes stuff.

  • @HeHeBoii Yeah, I won't DC against something like that. But I will just stand around, let them pop all five gens, and leave. No chases, no hook saves, no heals. Let them de-pip. I don't care about Pips on my killers. Screw 'em.

And if they won't leave? Fine by me. I'll minimize DbD, fire-up Paladins, and play a match or two, checking back to see if they left yet. If not, that's their time. My PC will easily run multiple games at a time without lag. I'm still playing a game with my time.

I did that last week against an idiot player that refused to leave as survivor and hid somewhere in the map. After searching for him for 15 minutes, I logged into Paladins. I played a good five matches over there before he finally decided to leave. I'm fairly sure he thought he was trolling me and pissing me off, but I jump back-and-forth between playing DbD and Paladins most nights anyway, depending on my gaming mood.

When someone doesn't care about Pips and can pull up another game without exiting DbD, you can't troll me.

  • @Bug_Reporter and @Carpemortum, Well, look at it this way. If you look through my post history, I never post about balance this or that. Hell, I never posted about it in Overwatch either, and I did know that game.

See, here's the thing: You will never, ever, have a balanced PvP game, I don't care what the game is. It's a myth that a player base believes in, but it's an impossibility. Balance around the low ranks, and the high ranks are broken. Balance around the high ranks, and the low ranks are broken. There is way too much of a variance in skill within a PvP player base for a game to ever actually be balanced.

But, I've learned to work around what is OP and UP. I worked around Brigitte just fine when she was released and broken as hell in Overwatch, while others, including top streamers, were moaning and crying and leaving in droves. I worked around Doomfist once they over-buffed him. I learned to play around all the weakness Soldier 76 suffered for the longest time, and excelled with him. And the list goes on.

And once I learn DbD enough, I'll work around the crap here, too.

  • @Carpemortum Precisely. Now, for me, I came from MMOs. Played them since EQ1 first launched in 1999, and although I also dabbled in single player RPGs, RTS games, and ARPGs like the Diablo franchise, MMOs were my thing.

I never played shooters until Overwatch, and that was only because I've been a Blizzard customer since 1994 and the characters and animated shorts sold me. I got good at Overwatch, studied the game religiously. Got to the point that my team of Friends & Family nicknamed me "coach." I might not have been able to pull it all off myself with a hero, but my tactics and strats usually led to a victory. Like mindgaming here in DbD, I learned how to mindgame and predict the enemy team in Overwatch based on map and their team comp.

But chasing that SR just got toxic and became a job, instead of something I played to relax. So, I walked away from competitive play.

And I've never felt better. Video gaming is fun again!

  • @Carpemortum Indeed. And while I see absolutely nothing wrong with folks who play DbD competitively and want that Red Rank, for me it's a casual game. All of my games are nowadays. Even when I play Overwatch or Paladins, it's only Quick Play mode (and some Arcade mode too, in the case of OW).

I did the whole competitive thing in the past with Overwatch. So much so, that I found it, for me, to be mentally unhealthy and it destroyed my fun in playing video games. I just hit middle-age, I'm too old for that crap. Before 2016 and Overwatch's competitive mode, I only ever played video games for fun.

So, about a year ago, I walked away from that play style and enjoy gaming again. Never again will I care about rank, MMR, or any of that stuff.

  • For me, it isn't. I honestly do not care if I pip, safety pip, or de-pip. I only play to chill and relax, and to collect bloodpoints for the bloodweb. The bloodweb is all I care about.

Hell, recently I have suffered in the Pip category simply because there have been matches where I was completely steamrolling the Survivors, so I backed off so they could do some gens, get some unhooks and heals, and even let one or two escape in the end, just so we could all get some BP from the match.

The other night as Survivor, which I rarely ever play, my random team completely ran amok against an obvious baby killer playing Wraith. In the end, those three escaped. I went to the killer and let him chase, down, hook, and sacrifice me just so he could get some BP.

  • PC.

And that's a no on the Switch. I don't even own a Switch. I don't do console gaming, and have never, ever, as much as owned any version of Xbox or the Playstation, either. My kids did as they were growing up, but I never played on them.

Plus, for me to even remotely consider playing DbD on another platform, they would have to do not only cross-platform play, but also cross-platform progression, the way Hi-Rez does with their games.

  • @RoKrueger I'm slowly getting there. These forums seem to manifest the worst in people.

  • Please continue to play like that even after dedicated servers go live. I encourage it. With the harsher ban system coming after they go live, we'll finally be rid of DC'ing players like you.

  • @Delfador said:

Thank you! but I don't deserve the title because of my last incident. I have apologized and edited my messages but you can't fully undo the mistake.

I agree with your other picks except for me though lol

@Delfador Don't worry about it. We're human. We all screw up. Hell, just last night I almost got into a bad argument here at the forums with someone who thought they knew it all, but is young enough to be my kid. I, too, just deleted a response and moved on.

If we were perfect, we'd have created our own universe in six days, as the old saying goes.

  • @T0xicTyler Oh Christ, is that where it came from? I never heard of it before a couple of recent threads because I don't follow or watch Tyde's stream or video content. Don't really care for him.

    Yikes.

  • @Pudding I completely and whole-heartedly agree with you. It's just what we're stuck with until probably late 2019, per Behavior.

  • @Pudding Unfortunately, the only punishment is a ban that is based on a threshold of disconnects vs total games played within a certain amount of time. We don't know the actual numbers, and Behavior naturally doesn't want to reveal them so people can game the system.

They do plan to implement a harsher punishment system down the line, but stated that it can't happen until after dedicated servers, which will allow them to monitor things more closely.

So, this is what we're stuck with until some point after dedicated servers go live. Which could be as far away as end of summer just for the servers to go live.

  • I find Plague fun. I also find Freddy fun. They're up there in my favorite killers to play, so I play them.

Needless to say, I'll never hit the high ranks. Good thing I don't ever want to.

  • Never mind. Arguing with someone still in school isn't worth my time.

  • @PhantomMask20763 That's because playing DbD makes me feel like I traded one clueless game studio for another.

  • Never mind. Not in this thread.

  • @MystiKasT Just ignore @RotBb. Obviously, playing a game and only playing a game when you're not working, in school, or sleeping is their preferred life schedule.

Some of us have actual responsibilities, families, kids, and so forth.

So, that's an example of an opinion you give the attention it's due: discard it and move on.

  • Honestly, I don't. They're using a tool in their kit that has been provided to them by the developers. If it gives them an advantage in their play style, then they'd be daft not to use it.

If a perk, when combined with others into a specific set, creates a broken loadout, I still don't blame the survivor for running it. I blame the dev team for letting it go live in the first place and not considering how it interacts with other perks. Yes, we have a lot of perks and combinations in DbD at this stage, but it is still on the development team to calculate and analyze those combinations, regardless how many new perks they keep adding to the cluster.

I never blame a player for using whatever advantage is being provided to them.

  • @Detective_Jonathan First, thanks for the mention. Of course, I've no interest in working at Behavior. That's not due to anything against the company, I'm just happy in my current career and have zero interest in migrating to Canada (nothing against Canada). That, and I did a gig in the video game industry before, it isn't for me. Ditto for forum moderation.

That said, look . . . just avoid any of the problematic and childish Fog Whisperer streams. There are a lot of good streamers out there. Some of them are in the Fog Whisperers, but they run a decent ship. But the certain list we all know? Yeah, just skip them. They're not worth the time and energy.

Look at it this way: If you walked into a business and the people there were rude, and the management was rude, would you go back again another time and give them your business? No, you wouldn't. And Streaming is a business. So don't give them your follow, subscription, nor add to their viewer count. In other words, take your business elsewhere.

As far as the harassment you mention, and the naming that others have stated is being done against you on Twitter, although you shouldn't have to, might I suggest just changing your SteamID display name. This will also change your display name in-game for any Steam games, and just remove you from their radar. Like I said, you shouldn't have to do that, but there's not much else that's going to be done. Behavior won't do anything against them, that much has been made clear since they knew all about this group of Streamers before they were ever invited into the program in the first place. So, that's about your only option at this stage.

Terrific list. I like all the people mentioned on there. Great folks. Oh, and @PhantomMask20763, I like talking with you, too. Let's not forget you. :)

  • @MystiKasT Honestly, the best advice I can give you is to watch guides on the game, and avoid the forums at all costs. I've been gaming for a long, long time and these forums are a cesspool of negativity and "Killer main" vs "Survivor main" juvenile BS. All of which is mostly self-serving for one side or the other.

You'd be better served avoiding this segment of the community entirely, and just turning to various YouTube guides instead.

  • Sorry, but I don't do game design work for free. I retired from game design in 2018 for a reason. It's up to the Dev team, who gets paid for the work, to figure it out.

  • @NoShinyPony As history has shown with games and gamers, the longer Behavior takes to fix these issues, the least likely players who left are likely to return. Now, don't get me wrong. The Vets who poured thousands of hours into the game, probably post here at the forums, and so forth, are likely to come back.

But the average gamer who just plays DbD as one of their games? Doesn't invest enough into it to forum post? Not as likely. As those players are a majority of the player base.

  • Look, this isn't Dead by Daylight's first rodeo with the "Dark Times," as folks have called it. While the game has taken several steps backward to the point that a few steps forward again might equal a "beta state," it isn't going to die any time soon.

Yes, numbers dropped for last month. But thanks to the current sale going on, numbers have bounced back a little. They bounced back more during the free weekend, but they also didn't contract back down to pre-free weekend levels afterward. They contracted some, but remain above where they were in March, indicating they've brought in some new people.

Will they stay? Who knows. But the game isn't in danger of dying in 2019, and I doubt it for 2020 as well.

And this is coming from one of Behavior's most vocal critics.

  • @Raccoon I honestly don't know. I just returned to the game a couple weeks ago after a long hiatus. But already the constant disconnects from survivors, along with a whole host of other issues, have really killed my desire to login. I only played one match last night, and haven't as much as launched the game yet tonight.

I've played beta-phase games that were in a better state than DbD is right now. And it would be different if I had the slightest bit of faith in the developer, but I don't. The issues have gone on for way too long, and communication is anemic.

  • I enjoy the game, but I honestly don't hold a lot of hope for it. I know that a lot of folks out there are banking on dedicated servers. Unfortunately, my hope for that isn't high, either.

The issue with dedicated servers is that they aren't anything to look forward to on their own. Behavior has to invest in good, stable dedicated servers, and they have to have people who know how to write stable netcode.

Given Behavior's track record to date, I don't have a lot of hope, especially for their netcode. Now, I hope they prove me wrong, but only time will tell.

As it stands, if I were a betting man, I would not be putting money down in favor of Behavior.

  • @Tzeentchling9 Yeah. It's painfully obvious that the OP has zero clue what they're talking about.

  • @PhantomMask20763 said:

@Kilmeran I've walked away from Overwatch a while ago, the fun I used to have just, isn't there anymore, which saddens me because I loved that game so much, I hope this next event will bring me back, even if it's just for a while

@PhantomMask20763 Yeah, same here. Though I imagine once I play through the new Archives PvE event once, maybe twice, the attraction will wear off. That happened to me with the Blackwatch one last year, too.

I have a ton of coins banked, so I ended up just buying the couple of skins I wanted, and called it an event. I've a feeling this year will wind up the same way for me.

Shame. I loved the characters, but the game play is just so stale now. But, I had a good three year run in it. I got my money's worth.

I can't just play one game anymore. Nowadays, I have to have a couple to play, since my gaming mood will shift from night to night. Maybe it's a middle-age thing, I dunno. I'll keep playing DbD, but I'm deciding on another game since Overwatch isn't drawing me anymore. Apex Legends was a bust. So was Realm Royale. Try as I might, I cannot get into the battle royale genre.
