@Carpemortum Yeah, I thought the same thing when watching the video. If that stuff shows for the killer as well, with my eyes I will never be able to see the scratch marks mixed in with that.
Hell, as it stands now, I've had to use the built-in Nvidia features to adjust lighting and colors in the game just so I don't get a migraine from eye strain playing DbD. Back before I had that ability due to having Radeon in my old rig, it was one of the several reasons I left DbD in September 2018.
Matter of fact, I can already tell just from the video in full screen mode that having to try to see scratch marks on top of that lava is going to physically affect my eyes (and thus give me a headache) the same way. Naturally, if that happens, I'll just have to shelve DbD. No video game is worth a physical headache.

Your first question is answered within the Q&A posted today: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/58159/dead-by-daylight-endgame-collapse#latest
-
@thatguyinktown Whether that was the intent with the hatch originally is moot, because it's still a problem with the last survivor holding the game hostage instead of going for the hatch, just to troll the killer.
There have been posts about it off and on for a while, including people posting chat screen captures afterward where the survivor would laugh and admit that they went and made dinner or did laundry while hiding, with the killer having been unable to find them.
Hell, I've suffered a couple of them myself. After spending a good 10 minutes looking for the little a-hole, including checking lockers, I could not find them. I have a beast of a PC and top-of-the-line internet, so I would finally minimize DbD and log into Overwatch or Paladins, checking back after each match. A couple times, I managed to play 3-5 matches (that is an average total time of 30-50 minutes, sometimes more) in the other game before the jerk finally decided to take the hatch or gates and leave (there were a couple of those times where the gates were open, and that one survivor refused to leave just to troll).
For people without that kind of PC or internet strength, it's much worse. They have to sit there and just wait.
Now with the end game collapse timer, they only have three minutes to get the hell out, or the Entity kills them and it counts as a normal sacrifice for the killer.
A very needed addition to the game.
-
It serves the obviously intended purpose, which is to end the asinine practice of holding the game hostage.
-
At first blush, I agree with you about the timer to a degree.
If it's going to be three minutes, then being put into dying state or hooked should speed it up, not slow it down. If fellow survivors are going for the rescue, they need to race against the killer and entity.
If it is made shorter than three minutes to start, then I'm okay with dying state or hooking slowing it down a little. That would balance out the shorter base timer and is still a race against time for altruism.
That said, I'll wait to test the PTB before I post any concrete suggestions to the team.
-
Agreed
-
@TWiXT I've been thinking close to the same thing. My suggestion is that when it hits PTB on the 23rd, just make sure to make the suggestion in the relevant threads. You never know, they might consider it if enough people also feel the same after testing it.
-
@GT_Legend2 The proper term is: y'all, not yall. It's also going or goin', not goin.
Yes, those were my big take aways, since this is like the umpteenth post or reply stating the same thing by people on the forums.
-
@Andreyu44 Ah, gotcha. Well, they can. Which makes sense, since the obvious point of the end game collapse is to end being able to hold a game hostage.
-
@Andreyu44 It really isn't confusing at all.
When the hatch opens, either due to the last survivor remaining (and now no longer requiring a certain amount of generators to have been repaired) or the use of a skeleton key, the killer can close the hatch. This powers the exit gates, blocks off all remaining generators, and starts the end game collapse timer. So, the killer can power the gates by closing the hatch.
For survivors, once they complete five generators, the exit gates are powered. At that point, either the killer or survivors can then open the gates, which begins the end game collapse timer.
So, the collapse timer happens one of two ways:
Killer closes the hatch. All remaining generators are blocked by the Entity, end game collapse timer begins, and exit gates are powered; which also allows the final survivor to open them and escape.
Generators are all done and exit gates are powered. Survivor or killer can then open the gates. Either one begins the collapse timer.
-
@Andreyu44 Actually, according to the newly posted Q&A found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/58159/dead-by-daylight-endgame-collapse#latest
. . . the killer can physically open the exit gates once they are powered. And exit gates are powered by either (1) completing five generators or (2) closing the hatch when it opens with one survivor left, regardless of how many generators were completed, or is opened with a skeleton key.
-
Peanits stated in another thread that that was them using the dev debug command.
Statement: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/428065#Comment_428065
They also answered that question in the new Q&A found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/58159/dead-by-daylight-endgame-collapse#latest
End game does not start until:
All 5 generators are powered and one side or the other opens a gate.
The final survivor is left and the hatch opens, regardless of how many gens are done, and the killer closes the hatch.
A skeleton key is used to open the hatch, and the killer closes the hatch (see Q&A here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/58159/dead-by-daylight-endgame-collapse#latest)

Dave said they're changing pig to fit the new end game.

So likely nerfed pig.
Okay. So, @Peanits and @not_Queen, thanks to Dave Richard's tweet, don't you think it needs to be stated how Pig is getting a change?
That's not something that should have been stated piecemeal like that.

killer can power gates at 4 gens and noed activates, no time to even find all those totems
@typicalpleb No, they can't. Peanits already said that was them using the debug command to show an example in the video. The killer still cannot power the gates until the 5 gens are done.

@Kilmeran that's the reason I now SWF, my friends are very good and one flashlight saves me. :P
@Poweas I understand that. As much as I hate SWF as a killer, it's a necessary evil sometimes.
But you know what? I'll be honest. Being a killer playing against a voice comm SWF in DbD is really no different than when I random queue in Overwatch, and have a team that won't even enter the voice channel while going up against a team that is obviously voicing and coordinating. The disadvantage you're suffering is crystal clear early on.
It sucks, but what'cha gonna do?

@AlexAnarchy Obviously your persistent 🤔, I respect that so I'll break it down for you. If my team gets snowballed by a Billy at 5 gens in the first 2 minutes, but I unbreakable, stealth and heal up, is it fair if I get NOED to my face when my team are potatoes? I can't 'cleanse totems' because I have no chance to thanks to a potato team. So therefore, I lose because Billy is fast and he has NOED.
@Poweas I see what you're saying, but it also isn't fair that the killer get NOED changed simply because your teammates are potatoes. Hey, whether in DbD survivors or any other team-based PvP game, when you solo or random queue, you play the RNG on teammates. And sometimes, they are simply worse than A.I. bots.
Hell, many times in Overwatch I've had the game of my night or week, and still lost due to potato teammates. And lost rank SR because of it. And in that game, a single loss will strip enough SR that you generally need 3-4 wins just to get back to where you were. So imagine a couple games like that in a row.
At least here, a single loss can be regained or exceeded with a single win.
But it happens. It's the chance we all take with randoms.
-
@Manta Maybe. Not_Queen said that a few end game perks are getting changes along with the end game change. Right now, we've no idea if Blood Warden is one of them. All we do know is that NOED is not getting changed.
As it stands right now, yes. But when the mid-chapter patch hits PTB, we'll see.
-
@Poweas I understand your side of the situation, but for me it's the other way. Once the gates are powered, I want the survivors either downed and hooked, or getting the hell out of the trial so I can move on to the next match.
For me, NOED is great. Otherwise, they need to destroy my totem.
-
@Coder In that case, I came up with almost the exact same build. I'm hoping it remains as is, or at least viable in a changed state.
-
@No_Cluie_Louis Injured, Dying, and hooked survivors make the end game timer slow down. You'll still have time, it's just no longer a pace mostly dictated by survivors.
-
Not_Queen already stated that NOED isn't changing. But a few end game perks are being changed.
Better keep cleansing those totems!
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/426654#Comment_426654
-
@Coder I'd hold off on anything except NOED right now. Not_Queen stated in another thread that some end game perks were being changed, but NOED wasn't changing.
So, we need to see what Perks have been changed, first.

Never mind
-
@Vlieger Well, in May they are revealing the new Freddy. Remember, they stated in the April 2019 Dev Update that he's been reworked from the ground up, and they basically did the amount of work on him they would do with a new Killer. He's been changed on a fundamental game play level.
Right now, I am curious to see if his current three Perks will even remain in the first place.
-
@Daily Folks really need to start checking the News section of the forums, especially when the CMs posted after the April 2019 update that that is where they will be placing the Legion update reveal, endgame collapse reveal, and the Freedy rework reveal (in May).
Moving forward, the News section is getting more activity, basically.

Not_Queen already said some perks are being changed with the new end game collaspe, though NOED is staying as is.

@Dr_Trauts Not_Queen already stated some were being changed. Outside of NOED remaining the same, they haven't stated which ones as of yet.

@PhantomMask20763 I like it a lot.
-
@Entità Unfortunately, that's where you and I differ. I've played a lot of games with ranked modes. Up until a year ago, I played them aggressively. Three years into DbD's life span as a live game, and I honestly have zero trust in the developers when it comes to making a rank system.
The rank system is too easily abused, and has been since the beginning. It needs a complete scraping and redesign from the ground up. Unless resources are invested to one day make that happen, it will continue to be a poor system. Even the new system doesn't properly gauge a player's skill. It attempts to pigeonhole you into a certain play style. It has most of the same issues as the Overwatch ranked system that Blizzard designed, and is yet another one I will not participate in nor consider seriously.
-
@Roobnus I say let them insult. For one, it's just the forums. For two, I have post-match chat permanently closed, so they can't insult me anyway. They're talking to a wall.
If I feel like tunneling or camping in a game, I will. I don't care about pipping in the least. Whether or not a survivor player pips isn't my concern. I bought the game so I can play and have fun, and if sometimes my way to have fun in a particular match means my target doesn't, that doesn't concern me. This is a PvP game, not a co-op PvE game. Someone else's fun is not my primary concern in this genre.
And yes, I expect the survivors I face to prioritize their fun as well. At such point it makes my game not fun on too consistent a basis, that's fine. I have many other games and just play them. Not a big deal. I don't main any single game anymore, anyway.
-
never mind
-
@PhantomMask20763 You can pretty much write Sony out of the equation. They very, very rarely play ball on cross-platform. Hell, Hi-Rez tried for over a year, for example. It seems they only want a very large game like Fortnite or Rocket League (and likely those studios paid a very nice fee to Sony as well). I've yet to see them allow cross-play for a small or niche game.
Cross-play between PC, XBox, and Switch is entirely possible. That's already out there.
-
@NuclearBurrito What's interesting is that I can mind game enemies quite effectively in Overwatch and Paladins. Herd them to where I want them on the map for my team's optimal positioning, bait out ultimates when we're prepared for them and can counter them, force their healers out of position with feint maneuvers, et cetera.
Here? Here it's a lot less common to be able to do half of the mind games that should be in the game, and for the few you can pull-off, it's just way too much damned effort for very little reward. At least for a majority of the killers.
-
@NuclearBurrito That would be nice. Unfortunately, for that you need developers and designers whose strength lies in such mind games and clashes of wits when designing maps, perks, and characters. And unfortunately, so far it doesn't seem that such folks are members of the DbD staff.
So, what we get is, in too many cases, a lowest common denominator of design on those aspects.
-
@HavelmomDaS1 And I'm sure it works for some players. Me? Hell, I've been a Blizzard player since 1994 when Warcraft: Orcs and Humans first released. What is that, 25 years now that I've been playing Blizzard titles? I'm obviously not going anywhere, and their other games don't notify you anyway. Not even WoW.
But you're right and so is @Guertena, as the Overwatch forums have shown concerning that feature.
-
@tt_ivi_99 You've more stamina than I have anymore, that's for sure. Me? I think I'm just going to be heading back to Overwatch and 1-shotting people from across the map as Widowmaker. Even with that game's flaws, it's a hell of a lot less frustrating than playing this mess that makes some beta games look finished.
-
@Entità I have agree with @Kiskashi at this point in time.
Now, I've been an advocate of each killer having a separate rank for about a year. But at the same time, unless Behavior suddenly devotes resources into creating a ranking and matchmaking system that makes sense and doesn't feel like it was created by a first-year game design student, there's little point.
-
Blizzard does it as well. When I report a player in Overwatch, if action was taken I will get a notice that pops up on my menu screen that states an action was taken against an account that I reported.
Naturally, it won't state what action, but it will notify you that "an action" was taken.
-
@Yamaoka Yes, I am. But my displeasure is due to a lot of things in this game as it stands right now. I've honestly played beta games in better states. The Legion stuff is just a footnote, but the final footnote I'm willing to apply to this game and still invest money into it.
-
Hey, not only will I not give the devs any ######### about this, but I also won't give Behavior any future money for DLCs. That decision has already been made, so I guess it's a win-win.
-
Yeah. And in games where I suffer the ol' genrush, I say to hell with it and let them have at it. No chases, no hits, nothing. I just walk around a dead area and allow them to do the generators, and then they can leave. I won't even follow them to the exit gates.
Under the current system, they're likely to de-pip. And I'm glad to let them do so. I don't care about my rank, and don't care in the least if I pip. Hope those survivors feel the same, and they'll also miss out on bloodpoints for chases, heals, and unhooks.
Then, on to my next match. Maybe that one won't be a genrush, and I'll happily engage the survivors.
It's even easier when I play Freddy and they want to genrush. They can't even hunt me down and attempt to force a chase or anything, because I just don't pull them into the dream.
-
@Peanits That parade got rained out by the lousy Legion information.
-
@ShyN3ko I've gotten to the point that if they want to genrush, I let them. No chases, no hits, nothing. They can genrush and leave, and de-pip. Fine by me, since I don't care if I pip and prefer not to anyway.
Then I'm on to my next match.
-
@Sheldor I'm not going to go into what is wrong with your post on pretty much every level, but let me assure you, as someone who worked in the game industry, that you'd lose in court.
But don't worry, I'm sure that there are plenty of lawyers out there who will be happy to bill you upward of $400+ an hour for a case that cannot be won. Feel free to write those checks.
-
@Raccoon Unfortunately, it does. I had written off Overwatch for the remainder of 2019. After yesterday, I went and logged into it last night. I actually enjoyed the PvE event a lot. I was shocked in a pleasant way by the Reaper Shadow-Step change. I even managed to luck-out and get the Junkrat clown skin in my first free lootbox, and since he's a main and I actually aim his grenades for direct hits, loved the grenade speed buff he got.
Did two matches, logged out, opened Steam, looked at DbD, thought about its state, closed Steam.
It's a damned shame right now.
-
@wichael_wyers Comes down to licensing. For Bubba, the faces make sense in the license of the character.
For Ash, all of his current cosmetics are something he wore in Ash vs Evil Dead, including the Ashy Slashy puppet from Season 2 when Ba'Al had him captive and mentally screwed over in an abandoned asylum.
When you license an I.P., the licensor tends to be fairly strict on it representing the licensed I.P. Ash's right arm attachments are laid out in the series: the puppet in those episodes, otherwise the rose wood hand, the mechanical hand Pablo made for him, a chainsaw, or a stump.
-
@Detective_Jonathan I never personally cared much for Scream, though I am not adverse to having Ghostface in DbD, just makes sense at this point (but, goddamnit, I still want the Tall Man and Reggie Bannister from Phantasm). But as I said, if it does turn out to be true, I will have one ecstatic 9-year-old horror fan in my house that also plays DbD.
That boy would be so thrilled.
He has this app on my tablet from Stickbots that lets him make stop-motion videos. He made one the other day with his SAW figures that included a survivor, a generator, and a locker. It was hilarious. Especially when he made the Amanda/Pig figure rip the poor survivor figure out of the locker.
Then he used his Funkos to do a Freddy vs Jason vs Myers video.
@Jesya Thanks for the link. If true, I know it will make many DbD fans very happy.
-
@Jesya Well, if it is, my 9-year-old will be happy. He's a horror fan and messes around in DbD when he's not in Overwatch with his friends. He absolutely loves Ghostface.
-
@bubbascal Yeah, I saw his stream back in September 2018 and was far from impressed how the Game Director played the game, and the lack of understanding he showed even about core mechanics.
That was the final straw back then that helped me decide to just take a hiatus from the game until three weeks ago. I expected it to be a permanent hiatus. I'd even uninstalled it and moved it into Hidden games on Steam. But boredom with Overwatch and Apex Legends got the better of me.
Three weeks after returning to this mess, and I'm already seriously considering if I want to bother anymore. I should have just watched a Netflix show (I don't normally watch much TV) or read my Marvel Unlimited comics (I'm currently nearing the end of reading the entire Ultimate Marvel Universe run). But coming back to DbD and Behavior is starting to feel like a wasted three weeks.
-
@RotBb I don't know. Behavior is working on a new project with Lionsgate, maybe his time is being split between that and DbD if he's involved on that end as well.
(Paragraph 5 mentions the new project: https://variety.com/2019/gaming/news/how-dead-by-daylight-broke-the-rules-for-ash-vs-evil-dead-1203179786/)
