Yea, bring the whole damn circus to DbD.
No, I don't want them. It's already frustrating enough that we have crappy mori animations with no gore at all. Even Fallout 3 was more brutal than this.
-
I was about to write a much longer post but then I noticed a simpel TL;DR - one that I've learned from the devs:
- it only happens rarely so it's not a big deal!
How many players exclusively play only one Killer and nothing else? Not many. I know that there are a few, Ralph and his Huntress for example or TheEntityLeftHand with Trapper (at least used to) but that's two players out of thousands that switch between characters and roles.
-
Depends on the perspective.
From your point of view, yes it's ok. From the tunneled Survivors point of view, no it's not ok.
Makes sense, right?

Those stats don't show anything about pick rate or the rank of the players using her. The people that main and mastered her are in the digit percentage and the biggest part of the rest can't really play her resulting in a low kill percentage (red rank or not). Most don't want to play her since it takes several dozen to hundreds of hours to be truly effiz with her.
That's something you just pulled out of your arse. Seriously, how can you make such stupid stuff up without even a SINGLE piece of evidence to claim such statements but sell it as a fact?
And that statement that most don't want to play her because it takes forver to learn her, you realize that this statement alone contradicts your previous statement? If people don't want to play her (unless they know how to play) then ONLY those that mastered her are left.
So especially in high rank (which is shown in the graph) most players that play nurse actually mastered her because as you said, if they didn't master her, they won't bother playing her. The result? Those graphs actually show the performance of good nurse players.

When I started playing DbD, I'd get excited when that happened and after the match, I'd check out their stream only to find out they're shittalking me for stream sniping and whatnot so now my feeling of excitement kinda turned into a bad feeling of getting shittalked behind my back.
I played against MORF_UK without even knowing but after a while I notice a ton of steam notifications of people leaving insulting comments on my steam profile. So I texted one of them only to find out that MORF actively promoted his viewers to head over to my profile and insult not just for my playstyle (I guess he was not happy that I 4k'd them) but also making fun of my look live on stream once he found my social media profiles.
He's also a fog whisperer - what a great example he is to promote the game!

Well, I would consider all the survivor second chance perks and the fact that DS can punish you just for playing too well to be pretty unfair, not to mention the map RNG that can screw over either side before the game even starts. Then you got Nurse and Spirit on the other side who I also wouldn't call fair/balanced. I would also say Freddy is unbalanced as in too strong and then you have the flipside like Wraith, Pig, Legion being too weak. There's more on both sides but I would be here all day, and I'm not trying to be.
While maybe a lot of the things in the entire game might be fair outside of the RNG, the majority of things people are using are from the "unfair and unbalanced" potion. So that's all people are really playing against. As survivor I see way too many Spirits and Freddy's as killer everyone and their grandma has second chance perks.
I wouldn't say the game is "fair", but with a few tweaks and changes it could be, and that's part of the frustration. It could be if they cared/understood how to fix it. Same with the balance side, it could be much better with just a little more effort/understanding. Its better than the past, but its not good. As I understand the majority of the player base doesn't want to deal with killer problems and being the generally weaker side.
I don't agree with "well sometimes its unfair for side A and sometimes its unfair for side B so its fair". Not it's still unfair, its just unfair differently. That's also not even taking into account it's much more common for one side to be receiving the unfairness than the other. So it's more like "Sometimes its not fair for side A, but most of the time its unfair for side b, so its fair". You can't be fair and unfair at the same time, the unfairness on both sides needs to go.
Also the only thing in that second to last section that's really unfair/unbalanced is DS. However, everything in that section is very unfun to deal with. I just believe people mistake unfun for unbalanced/unfair or don't fully grasp what it means that the game is 4v1 sometimes.
But hey, that's just my outlook on the game as of this moment.
I don't think DS is unfair in most cases. It can happen that a Killer gets punished by DS simply by playing too good but then again good Killers expect DS and know how to avoid it. Yes, getting hit by DS is not always the result of tunneling BUT from a Survivors point of view, DS always punishes Killers that didn't switch targets within a few seconds after you got unhooked. It can be used aggressively, which makes it an unfun perk to deal with from a Killers point of view but that doesn't really make the perk unfair - at least that's my opinion.
RNG based stuff surely have impact but those things also don't make the game unfair. RNG is what it is, RNG. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. It's like playing Apex Legends and constantly dropping in the area where no loot is while the other players seem to get the best loot. Does that mean Apex Legends is an unfair game? I don't think so at all, it just means this time you got ######### by RNG. Next match you'll get lucky and the others get unlucky but perhaps you won't even realize that because it feels just like a normal situation.
Clearly some things could require adjustments but honestly when I check the forum and read all the stuff people complain about... To me it looks like most players want to be able to play WHATEVER they want and end up with the same win chances as their opponents, which is ridiculous. Like those that think the game is unbalanced because they get matched with lower skilled survivors against higher skilled killers. Does that mean the game itself is unbalanced?
It's a matchmaking issue and the logical result in such a match is that the Killer wins - because the game is balanced. The player with the higher skill should have higher chances of winning. Isn't that what defines a balanced game? If you play / prepare better for the match, you increase your chances of winning. If that was not the case then what purpose would add-ons, offerings, ect. offer to the game? Nothing!

True, it may not make the most logical sense but it's a very common + idiomatic adjective to use with even non-sentient things. Like you'd be ok using it that way even in academic or journalistic contexts.
I wasn't aware of that, so thanks for letting me know. How do you determine the intelligence of a post? If it's useless and has no meaning, I suppose it's unintelligent?
-
@Aneurysm said:

No he's right. Inanimate objects or concepts can be more humanised in English so it makes sense to talk about a post that is (in)intelligent, angry, sad etc. in itself without reference to the author. Just as how it's common to say a text "says" something, although a piece of writing ofc can't literally speak.
You can say something without opening your mouth, what you're talking about is "speaking".
A post can be informative, a book can be saddening, a film can be brutal as those are simple adjectives that describe something.
The literal definition of intelligence is "being able to think". I can be well written or words can be smartly put, but that doesn't give a post intelligence.
-
Looks like something personal.
My guess would be that he hold a grudge on you from past match experiences, that's why he went after you specificly and didn't care about win / lose. Always behave properly and that should not happen in future.

this entire thread fries my brain, how the F do you consider killers OP when you yourself state the reason survivors dont do well is because they are meming around and flat out refuse to do the one objective they have....
I notice this mindset a lot of times here in the forums.
People claim the game is unbalanced, Survivors or Killers are OP and when you go deeper into discussion with them, it turns out they're upset to get queued with bad Survivors that throw the match or as new Killer, they get matched against Rank 1 SWFs.
That is not an issue of game unbalanced but poor matchmaking. In 99,9999% of all cases, a player with 0 knowledge will lose to a player with 2000 hours. It has nothing to do with the games unbalanced state. Same if a Killer goes into a match as naked Clown against fully slotted SWFs, OBVIOUSLY the Killer is at a disadvantage but it was their own decision to play this way.
How can you expect to have an even match as naked clown against 4 fully slotted SWFs?
Balanced game doesn't mean no matter what / how you play, your chances of winning are always 50%. Balanced game means that both sides can increase or decrease their chances of winning equally by PREPARING FOR THE MATCH properly.
-
Hillbilly and Nurse are the least add-on dependent Killers.
Other Killers require Add-ons to become viable in high ranks - not these two if you know how to play them.

It actually doesn't really show anything, like I said. Objectively weak Killers like Trapper and Myers are fairly high up on the list, while the strongest Killer, Nurse, is the lowest by FAR.
It is also worthy to note that the only Killer reaching 3 kills on average is Freddy, who is getting nerfed.
Here are your stats with zero context @Minaaa
lol! This graph shows the exact opposite of what's actually going on in the game. Perhaps they got the percentage mixed up and instead of kill rates, they show the escape rates.
As a matter of fact:
- Nurse is one of the strongest Killer and especially in high rank, people know how to play her and usually get 3-4 kills.
- Higher skill makes matches harder for the Killer player, which is why in the process of ranking up, the average kills per match decreases over time due to stronger opponents.
This graph shows the exact opposite; Nurse is the worst Killer and in high rank, Killers get more kills than in low rank.
I have no idea how that can be explained other than "rigged stats".
Perhaps Nurse gets so many ragequitters that don't count for "Kills", is that why her kill rate is so low in high rank? Another meaningless, misleading graph provided by the devs that serves to purpose other than causing confusion and discussions.

@Endorb said:
I play both sides, and have thoughts(tm) about this.
As a survivor, I can go on a 3 minute chase, get downed and hooked, and then another survivor unhooks me in front of the killer and I'm downed again. 5 generators remaining.
As a killer, I can down survivors in 10 seconds a chase, and still the survivors manage a 4K escape because they finished the gens in 4 minutes.
The problem isn't just the game's overall balance, it's that as the skill levels of both sides improve evenly, the balance of power swings wildly from favoring the killer to favoring the survivor. It's a very common problem with asymmetrical games. In this game's case, the killer not only needs to be skilled and knowledgeable at chasing the survivors, but they need to know how to identify when a survivor is strong, when it will waste time to go after them, since they need to create that pressure of a downed/hooked survivor to slow the generators.
And that mistakes premise is not very true at all; unless you mean the mistake of choosing to play Huntress instead of Blight, when I get 2 gens done before managing to find a survivor because they spawned in pairs on the opposite side of Mother's Dwelling. It's also not a mistake when I spawn in the killer's TR, and they find me when I only just started to be able to move. Ruin cleansed in the first 10 seconds of the game? Not a mistake. Survivor can't loop a killer because the gen spawned in a deadzone. Not a mistake. A killer can literally do nothing all game until the doors are open, and then use NOED to 1 hit slug all the survivors. A survivor can drop a pallet while the killer is on this side, but they just hold W and then they get adrenaline and they'll now take like 25 seconds for the killer to catch up and down them.
Especially with perks in the game that muddy up what are and aren't mistakes in a given situatiion, it's hard to say all punishments are mistakes.
That's RNG badluck, yes, but how often do those things actually lead to win or loss? Also, you mentioned such RNG misfortunes for both sides so in the end, it's probably an even split. How can RNG badluck be used as an argument for an unbalanced game?
Does that mean for example when I get crappy loot in APEX, COD or PUBG and the enemies around me instantly get good gear, that those games are all unbalanced because not everyone starts with exactly the same gear? No, that's the entire point of the game - to find loot and prepare yourself for the last circle, to beat your enemies. In the end we all had a choice on how to prepare, if you dislike a certain map as a certain Killer, that's exactly why Map offerings exist. If you struggle to repair gens out in the open, bring Spine chill so you can quickly figure out when the Killer is coming towards you.
For every weakness, there are some perks, add-ons and offerings that help you, but it's up to you to use them as preparation for the upcoming match.
And don't even get me started with NOED. You just said that Survivors can quickly finish all gens in 4 minutes regardless of the Killers playstyle so how come they fail to cleanse 5 totems while they're at it? That's exactly the point of NOED, to punish Survivors that do nothing but gens. As Survivor, you prepare for the endgame by cleansing totems. If you do not put any efforts into proper preparation, you risk getting hit by NOED.
Is that a result of an unbalanced match? No, it's the result of poor preparation for the endgame, respectively a good preparation of the Killer to bring NOED against a team that appeared to be rushers. Killer 1:0 Survivors. I don't see how that can be considered UNFAIR rather than just poor gameplay.

Oh wait that's also RnG.
I trust that you are well?
You used your brown rank teammates to prove that YOU are skilled. In fact you're probably of equal skill as those brown players, that's why you got matched together. Rank is meaningless, it's no indicator of skill at all and we ALL know that. The Emblem System does NOT reward efficient and skillful playstyles, it's based on QUANTITY of actions rather than QUALITY and efficient gameplay.
Of course I know that you were being sarcastic but bringing RANKS in a discussion about the games balance is ridiculous, especially the ranks in dead by daylight that are almost entirely meaningless. Then you bring up new Killers that go against red rank Survivors.
Literally your whole post is about bad matchmaking and yet in your first sentence you claim that you don't use bad matchmaking as an excuse for unbalanced matches?!

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/217719/dbd-is-not-unbalanced-or-unfair
while i believe this statement has some truth to it, there are a lot of things in this game that are incredibly unbalanced and can lead to very easy/undeserved wins from either side.
killers have:
- NOED
- Iridescent Hatchets for Huntress
- Pinky Finger for Clown (this one isn't a hard carry/free win but it's still incredibly powerful)
- Double Iridescent Myers
survivors have:
- Purple/Iri Keys
- Object of Obsession (in a SWF)
- DS/Unbreakable (on their own not that bad, but together super strong)
the game has gotten better since the old days where BNP instantly repaired gens and moris could be used to kill survivors without hooking them, but there are still plenty of other "nuclear" options in the game. there's a little more to it than just "learn to play better" in some cases, and i'm sure this discussion has been had more times than the entity has consumed a survivor, but i feel like it needs to be said here
So... Killer have strong add-ons and perks..
Survivors have strong items and perks.
The fact that both sides have access to strong perks and items / add-ons kinda proves that neither of these things are unbalanced or unfair. Every single player has the chance to equip strong perks or add-ons, play strong Killers and offerings. It is totally up to you to prepare for the match.
I can only compare it once again with other competitive games;
Play Apex Legends with an empty P2020 against a fully slotted R99? Why play the P2020 when you could bring your own R99?
Play Dota 2 without buying items against a 6-slotted team? Why don't you get your items?
Play CS:GO without using a body armour against a team that uses those? Why don't you get your own body armour?
My point is, just because people fail to prepare for a match properly doesn't mean the game is unbalanced. Of course if you bring a strong killer with strong add-ons and offerings against naked survivors (or the other way around), the game is gonna be unbalanced but that's the result of uneven preparations. Both sides have the chance to prepare optimally for the upcoming match. It's your mistake if you think you can beat 4 strong survivors with a naked Clown, who on earth would think that's balanced? You don't bring a knife to a gunfight and expect to win lol
-
@Saitamfed said:
I think you tried to write DbD is unbalancer and unfair. Sure, there are situation where you're the one screwing up but most of the time you don't. As someone have stated put 4 skilled survs against a clown... if the game were fair, the killer wouldn't take x2 to vault a window, the killer wouldn't have to waste almost 3 seconds to break a pallet in which time a survivor can reach the next tile.
Now about the 50 matches in a row... there's a lot of data that you're not counting
Playing the games mean, do gens and be chased, etc. Now I can't crawl all game long and when the killer sacrificed the other three survivors, run to the hatch and escape, I can pip even if I helped with a gen for 30 secs. Does that mean I deserved it? No, I didn't actually play the game. I just let my teammates die.
As for killer... sure, a nurse can 4K almost every match but even that there is a slight chance that a players will get the hatch so no matter how skillful you are, there is not a "4K in a row for 100 matches"
First of all, the Emblem System is not as old as the game itself so when I say winning, I am not talking about pipping but escaping or killing. The Emblem System is in no way a representation of skill, it's purely based on quantity of actions you've done rather than the efficiency of your actions and how you utilize of them. I'm sure we can agree on that.
Secondly, the skill difference or lack of preparation of the players in the match is not a representation of the balance state of the game. If a 100 hours player with naked clown against 4 fully slotted 2k hours SWFs, of course the Clown is gonna lose - not because the game is unbalanced but because the Clown was naked and only had 100 hours.
Would the game be fair if that naked 100 hours Clown had the same chances of winning than the 4 fully slotted 2k hours SWFs? Just think about that logic here. The game is balanced when two teams of equal preparations and skill / experience meet. It's like playing CS:GO only with a knife and then complain the M4 is too strong, where's the logic? Next time bring Nurse to even out the playground.
-
Well, you can set yourself some goals. When I play for too long, I start to take the game waaay to serious so I take a break and when I come back, I am deranked again and I solely play to have fun, a perfect combination. Try out new stuff, mess around with perk and Killers that I normally don't play,...
It's never bad to take a break from DbD, so don't force yourself into playing the game if you don't enjoy it.

Again, a bad matchmaking doesn't really make the game itself unbalanced. If you apply that logic to Apex Legend, that game is also unbalanced because you could play against Apex Predators (top 1000 players) while you're a noob.
The skill difference of the players in a match does not represent the balance of the game, that should be kinda obvious?! The lack of skill lead to an unbalanced match, you just said it yourself. So what exactly is your point?

If soccer is for pussies, what will you say about videogames lol.
This is literally the place for people who want to rest from their miserable reality, only few of them actually come to compete and get better. Some of them are weak, but you aren't boxing right now too.
Oh that is for sure, at least physically! I think (competitive) games can help you cope with stressful situations and surely train perception and reaction, quick decision making ect. There's a reason why NASA specially looks out for Gamers, they have all the qualities required. For physical training I prefer hockey over soccer though. I said soccer is for pussies because when you accidentally touch a soccer player, they fall 3 meters and cry like babies while in other sports you have a beer with your opponent after you messed up their face ;-) Connecting soccer with respect and good sportsmanship is really a very bad example. Soccer is full of disrespectful and bad behaving ######### and the worst part, they earn millions by doing so.
I don't think DbD is a good place to rest from ones miserable reality since it's a quite stressful and demanding game. Maybe those people should try something more relaxing like minecraft, stardew valley, farmville or whatever it's called.

Not saying it's okay, but if a survivor doesn't have fun that's being toxic and therefore you had it coming and were asking for it.

Bullying other people for entertainment and being okay with it is not exactly what "a nice, respectful person" is. Your actions matter, not words.
And that's right: if bm in games really ruins the experience, it's better not to play (why would you do it if it's not fun), but that wasn't the point. Personally, I don't give skilled tbaggers much attention but go after someone else instead. I probably wouldn't catch them quickly enough and have bad time trying, so why would I prioritize playing with them.
Funny thing i've noticed though: often tbaggers that are not skilled and go down fast are the ones who DC when caught.
TBH my behaviour in a video game doesn't exactly reflect my personality. In reality I get to decide who I spend my time with so normally I am in good company, which means I have absolutely no reason to be frustrated or upset. That's been said, when I play a match of Beerpong with friends, I sure as hell shittalk them and remind them of how bad they are when they miss a shot. That's part of the match and my friends know that, they do the same. Stress out your opponent, make them nervous and insecure. Sometimes it works, sometimes it backfires and gives them the required concentration to win. It's exactly like that in DbD, at least that's how I see it. It's a fight between the Killer and me, they either commit to the chase or leave me alone and pussy out. But they can decide if they wanna play with me or not.
Also, when I play video games I meet all sorts of players, some very friendly and others appear to be as clever as a piece of bread so naturally they have a different impact on my behaviour than the people I know ;-)
I see that you already found a very good workaround against BM-ers; simply ignore them. That's literally the best and easiest thing you can do, don't give them attention. It requires NO skill, every player can do it if they decide to do so and as a side effect, it pisses them off!

It was 4men SWF with all meta, even I pickup the one without DS active, the other still able to pick to Unbreakable & unhook 1st survivor
So where is "my failing" if that happened?
Nah, you simply should've waited next to those two to let DS run out. It was obvious one of them had DS, that's why they crawled together. They tried to outplay you with a cheap trick but hey, they succeeded.

It is fine to feel pleasure when you are outplaying your opponent, but BM'ing? Taunting? Nah. You are not allowed to spit in the face of goalkeeper to taunt him when you are playing football, and similar things are still a very dirty trick when you are playing online games. Sadly, most videogame players don't understand what sportsmanship is and think that it is fine to be a dickhead because their opponent can't kick their ass for what they are saying and doing. But it is a zero sum game - today you are being a dick to your opponent and have fun on him, tomorrow he will be a dick to you and have fun on you, so in the end you'll both eat #########. Each teabagging survivor creates facecamping Bubbas, and each facecamping Bubba breeds teabagging survivors.
Of all the sports, you have to bring up football (I assume soccer), the sport only pussies play? Have you ever watched rougher sports such as ice hockey or boxing / general fighting sports? Now that I think about it, even in Soccer people get disrespected all the time. Remember Materazzi and Zidane? And don't even get me started with Ramos.
In ice hockey, fighting scene and many other sports it's normal to provoke your opponent, it's also a mental fight.
And if I am honest, that's probably the biggest motivator to become better at something - having a person, perhaps the most hated person in your life, as competition. That person pushes you to improve and get better. It forces you to get out of your comfort zone, changing your ways until you're finally able to beat them.
So when I think about it, honestly it sounds like an excuse for weak people. You either accept the fact that you are bad at the game and once you do that, you can enjoy the game without having the pressure of winning all the time - or you learn to play so you're able to punish those that disrespect you. I've been there aswell, that's why I learned how to play.

lol yeah, especially without the mori to blow off steam any more I can imagine there's alot more of the more annoying killers to go against being seen and sold. And now i don't need to ask myself why the devs would do that to killers any more. I just answered my own question, they sold more spirits or freddys and blights and after making undying not worth the two perk slots in a coming patch they're gonna sell even more killer packs to people too addicted to quit or switcht o survivor lmao. Brilliant. But dangerously as close to racketeering as most mobile stuff gets, in the sense of deliberately creating problems and harming the experiences in order to sell solutions that otherwise would not have been justified. I am quick to look at things in video games as close to racketeering these days after being burned out by them over the past 4 or 5 years.
On point - they're doing that since years already.
Notice all the Killers and perks that were released in a certain state and shortly after, they got nerfed into the ground (perhaps when they hit the expected sales numbers). Or they advertize with a "Skillbased Matchmaking System" - which turns out to be a complete disaster and get's reverted, never to be heard of again. The one thing that remains consistent, however; the implementation of new DLC content (preverably released with broken stuff to motivate people into buying, only to nerf them later on) to keep the players interested.

I'm just giving you an honest opinion / reasoning from the perspective of an experienced Survivor. People like you shouldn't play online games.
I'm pretty sure most Survivors have felt the same way then dealing with an inexperienced Killer. It doesn't even have to be meant in an offensive way from your perspective but from the Killers point of view, it can very quickly look like you're purposely making fun of them.
For example when I loop a Pig and when it goes prone I simply leave the loop and watch it charge around the loop, confused as I'm not there anymore. In that moment I have a big smirk on my face as I realize that I can pull such simple mindgames on that player, which gives me opportunities to "let them look bad" for my amusement.
If you haven't experienced such situations, you either haven't played that much DbD or you're lying.

I hope you're not the sort that then turns around and complains about how tons of killers camp you on the hook or tunnel the hell out of you after enticing them to do so.
Nope, the only thing I complain about when I get camped or tunneled is the other Survivors that usually do nothing but lurk around the hook in a desperate attempt to unhook me instead of finishing the gens. I never blame Killers when they react in such a manner, I expect it and deserve it. When they camp for no apparent reason, it can happen that I get frustrated but then I simply remind myself that they probably just had a really rough match earlier on and need to release some pressure.

1) What's your main Killer(s)? This information is required to find out which teachable Perks would be the most useful to get.
2) Do you plan on playing that Killer just for fun or to be successful and good with it?
3) Do you want a Killer with skillshot powers that require good aim, timing and prediction or do you want a passive power that require no skill at all? If you want a passive Killer with no/low skill requirements, get Legion, Twins or Oni. If you want a more challenging one, get Clown.
-
How to start out with him:
- Read up the mechanics of the Killer
- Try the mechanics of the Killer in a few matches
- End

i dont see why you would want that.
Imagine being good at the core of the game then playing a killer you dont play usually and get put vs rank 20s
Imagine having a core rank based on your overall MMR and then Killer specific MMRs to climb up the ladder from, say R10 to Rank 1.
The lack of creativity in this forum is triggering af, people can only think black or white without compromises or thoughts outside of the box. Pathetic.

Don’t feel bad about ranting OP. I’m sure many killer players here (mains or not) feel the same way. My first experience playing killer was like that too. I was rank 20, it was my third match as killer. One guy decides to loop me, flashlight me at every pallet, vault into me while I’m blinded etc. Obviously toying with me. End of the game I find he is a rank 2 matched against me a rank 20 (And it was on Haddonfield).
Maybe he didn’t know (though I doubt it), maybe he didn’t think it was obnoxious. But I can understand where you and many killer mains are coming from.
I guarantee you that 99,99% of the Survivors that BM Killers do it while being fully aware of the effect is causes on the person controlling the Killer. That's one, perhaps even the biggest motivation to do it, it's a sadistic bullying mentality but it also gives you that feeling of having power and control over someone else.
An egoistic, antisocial and surely unhealthy psychological mindset but that's how our brain works. I'm guilty of it aswell, I enjoy making fun of Killers from time to time but I also apologize for my behaviour when I went too far and my opponent took it more personal than intended.
Point is, the players are fully aware of their inappropriate behaviour, they enjoy being an #########. That's the reason why they do it.
-
Imagine playing Survivor while being overwhelmed by pressing M1.
No offense but pressing M1 covers about 90% of their basic gameplay actions. If that's too much, I'd recommend not playing Survivor at all.
-
Map awareness. Good positioning. Always have an escape route in your mind in case the Killer shows up from a specific direction. Don't repair gens with lots of blind spots, you want to be out in the open with a good view of your surrounding.
Ironically, that's exactly what you want to avoid when playing against for example a Nurse, Billy or Spirit. Adapt your playstyle.
-
Why not? I only play Survivor to bully and make fun of my opponents, that's literally the only reason I play Survivor.
Playing the basic Survivor as it's meant to be is boring as hell, EVERYTHING you do requires nothing but M1 and the space bar. You sit on gens for MINUTES doing nothing but holding M1 and hitting space from time to time.
Chests, Totems, Healing, Gates,... They're all the same braindead activities with zero skill requirements.
Outplaying the other side is what makes the game fun. As Killer you get that opportunity all the time but as Survivor, you actively have to ask for it. That's why I normally play Killer, it's always exciting and full of action (compared to general Survivor gameplay).
So my apology but when I play Survivor, I want action and I get that action by toying and outplaying the Killer. I don't want the chase to end in 10 seconds so I teabag and taunt to get the Killer to the point where they throw the game and their only goal is to get my dirty arse.

DBD is such a simple game with minimal development efforts, especially nowadays where the only content that is provided comes in form of DLCs which include new characters, perks and sometimes a new map. As an ARK Modder myself I can create content of that size and quality single handedly in a matter of a few days. More or less reskins of existing characters, new maps and new perks, not exactly that complex with access to the dev kit.
To me it's blatantly obvious, it's all about keeping the game alive for as long as possible with minimum efforts to make the most money out of it without investing too much.
Quite shocking if you consider that the game is turning 5 this year and still hasn't managed to leave alpha if you look at the development state of the game.
How is that possible?
a) because of you - you keep supporting them
b) because there is no real competitor, you have no choice but to support them if you want to play games like DbD
...and it's been like that for almost 5 years now. BHVR is incredibly lucky and they know that.

1 was on hook, 2 down crawled onto each other. I chase the last one down. Done
I go back on those 2 and pick one of them, that one had DS, right after the other one Unbreakable and unhook the 1st survivor.
That was a 4men swf. 1K
So you failed. You could've easily guessed that there was a DS involved and as a logical conclusion, wait with the pick up to prevent from getting hit by it. At the same time you could've waited out the Unbreakable, perhaps even get enough time to get the two hooked guys killed in the process of waiting out the DS / unbreakable and baam you could've secured at least 3 kills just by being patient and smart.
I'm sure you admit; your mistake was to pick the guy with the DS up. A mistake that could've been avoided if you read the game properly. A match result defined by lack of skill. Unfortunate and undeserved, but in the end it could've been avoided entirely.

Again: Show me a streamer that does 50 escapes solo under current gameplay conditions.
I'm afraid there is lack of media available under current gameplay conditions (which is something I never claimed) but luckily there are several records of streamers that achieved this goal already in the past, to make the same point I'm trying to make right now.
Also, considering that there are actual Killer streamers that achieved 50 consecutive wins in a row even on different Killers - does that mean Killers are actually in the Power Role?
I myself already did the Ironman Billy (perkless billy from R20 to R1) and I 4k 96% of the matches, only very few survivors escaped via hatch. If I were to record a 50 escapes as Survivor (BY ANY MEANS) what would the conclusion of that experiment be?
We have 50 killer wins and 50 survivor wins so the game is actually balanced? Is that a promise you're giving me, should I be successful?

Show me a streamer that manages to do 50 escapes in a row solo under current gameplay conditions without the scummy-key-left-behind strat.
As for 50 wins as killer in a row that's more realistic considering 90+% of survivors have no idea what they're doing due to the fact you can get sacrificed and still double-pip as survivor even on red ranks.
Everyone knows red rank survivors often play no better than yellow ranks so your point just isn't valid since all killer characters mechanically just win based on survivor mistakes except for killers that can by-pass mechanics such as distance, pallets and windows using their powers. Again: That's common sense. There's a reason everyone plays Spirit/Nurse in tournaments and not Clown.
Regular killers never really win because they played well. They win because survivors messed up their loops and decision making. Only Nurse and Spirit can factually beat survivors regardless of their looping skills and decision making as their power mechanics nullify survivor mechanics.
Nice, you're actually one of the players I wanted to trigger with this! Hear me out;
You excuse the loss of Survivors or the win of the Killer with "90% of the Survivors have no idea what they're doing" and with that sentence you pretty much confirmed what I said. The result of the match is mainly based on the skill (or lack of) of the players within that match. You just said it yourself here, white on black.
You also can't excuse a loss with "I played perkless Wraith while the Survivors had full meta perk loadout!". That's like saying "I lost in CS:GO with a knife and no body amour while the other player had a full body armour and an M4!".
As I said; Everyone has the chance to adapt and prepare for the match to get a realistic chance of winning. You can make the matches balanced but if you decide to go into a 4x SWF naked you should expect to be at a disadvantage.
That doesn't mean the game is unbalanced, that just means you're a ..... for not preparing for it accordingly.
E: Also, it's totally up to oneself to use Left Behind or whatever other perk if it helps them achieve their goal. People ALWAYS find excuses and you just proved it. "It's possible but only when you use this and that". Yes, that's exactly the point. It's possible IF YOU ADAPT, which should be common sense for every single PvP game in existence unless you purposely want to handicap yourself - but then don't blame it on "unbalanced / unfair game!".

The informations provided by those graphs and stats are ridiculous. They lack explanation and I get the impression that the sole purpose of them is to make a point.
I would not be surprised if those numbers are completly made up just so that they fit their agenda. Statistics are made to manipulate the common people, there's no easier way than to show stats of "Something" and people will form their opinion based on that. A beautiful mindfuck for all the apes on our planet.
So, keep in mind;
The only statistics you can trust are those you falsified yourself.

You can't call a game balanced if 90% of perks in this game are a dog poop compared to other 10%.
You can't call a game fair if it has as much bugs and gamedesign BS as DBD does.
I still agree about whining "killer tunneling", "survivors genrush", "swf op", "solo unplayable" etc etc. That's just how the game works, you probably shouldn't play it if these things are pissing you off.
When I say "The game is balanced" I'm not saying that everything in the game is of equal use / power. That would be a completly ridiculous thing to say.
It's balanced as in, 99% of the matches can be either won or lost depending on the Killers / Survivors skill and playstyles. Both sides have the chance to win and it's up to oneself to prepare accordingly.
In CS:GO you can't expect to win a match without ever purchasing a body armour - beyond ridiculous to call the game "unbalanced" because you lost?!
You have to invest to increase your chances of winning and that's exactly what you're supposed to do in DBD aswell. That's why different Killers, Perks, Offerings, Add-ons and items exist. They ALLOW to you win and make the game balanced but it's up to YOU to utilize them.

So you are going to deny that BOTH sides have conditions that lead to a lose or win pretty much by default ?
Alright - try to win under these circumstances:
Play Clown on Haddonfield with basement god-window rng, against 4 rank 1 pro-loopers with 5000 hours in the game EACH and everyone spawns on a separate generator with brand new part.
Tell me again how DBD is just a brutally honest game and the Clown player just messed up.
Luck is a huge factor in DBD. That's literally just common sense.
OR play solo survivor with bad matchmaking (another luck factor) that throws you in a lobby with 3 new survivors and a 5000 hours Rank 1 Nurse-only-main with Ruin/Undying/Infectious Fright/Knockout.
Tell me again how the only 1 experienced survivor messed up when matchmaking goes crazy every now and then.
Again: Luck IS a big factor in DBD.
Firstly, I would say that the biggest issue here was the matchmaking system which has nothing to do with the actual imbalance of gameplay features. If you play Apex Legends against a lobby full of Apex Predators, the game would feel imbalanced aswell even though literally every single person in the lobby has the same conditions.
Another thing to consider - not all Killers are of equal skill so if you plan to use Clown, you may want to adapt accordingly. This may require you to slug, camp, tunnel, 3gen strat or whatever but you need to utilize the most in any given scenario. That's like complaining that you lost with a nacked P2020 (pistol) against a 5000 hours apex player with a fully slotted R99. Is that the result of imbalance or the result of lack of skill and preparation?
As I said already, if luck is such a big factor how can streamers literally show you how towin 50 consecutive matches as Killer or Survivor, regardless of the Killer / Survivor loadout, map or team constellation? The reason is, they know how to play.
-
As a result of their lack of skill, Survivors get the feeling that the game is unfair and unbalanced when facing certain challenges, such as Myers with good add-ons.
Players that actually spend time with both sides know that each Killer power comes with a huge disadvantage, so they know how to adapt and prepare for such situations.
Unfortunately, most Survivor players never play Killer so they have no idea how to deal with it and instead of learning to play and improving their skill, they start to blame the games unbalance. They get frustrated and throw games, ragequit, suicide,...
It's no secret, that's the simple truth about the DbD community. Too many potatoes thinking they know how to play.

Actually I'm very skilled at the game. It's the lack of balance that make it unbalanced. Hence the term "unbalanced"
So what exactly is unbalanced from the perspective of a very skilled player?
-
@tactic said:
They’re still working on the MMR system and it will have separate MMR for each killer, hence why you’re now locked to one in the lobby
Do you have a source for that? How do you know they are working on a separate MMR for each Killer?
We know that they already tried to create a Killer-specific MMR but failed miserably at it and reverted it back to the rank based MMR. They forgot to get rid of the "Killer locked while queue" thing though, that's the ONLY reason why Killers are now locked when in the lobby.

Not to mention the impact of "luck" in DBD.
You can have Ruin and a survivor spawn together - literally together AND on the other side of the map from the killer's spawn location. Now that match becomes a 3 perk game by default just because of 1 single luck-factor.
OR
You can be in the middle of a chase and JUST before you get hit someone cleanses HEX: haunted ground. Now you're going down instead of getting injured quite literally again because of 1 single luck-factor.
If luck was such a big factor, how can someone manage to get 50 escapes in a row as solo Survivor? Or how can a Killer get 50 4k's in a row? Surely RNG has impact on each match but it doesn't decide if you lose or win.
-
@HectorBrando said:
I believe its unbalanced but no to the degree the mains complain, its perfectly playable and usually what decides the outcome is either skill (or lack of) and RNG with maps.
Hittin' the nail on the head; What most of the time decides the outcome of a match is skill (or lack of).
You can always adapt to bad map RNG on either side. People just like to blame it on everything else but themselves.
An example:
If you play against a Myers and your teammates feed him stalking points, then you end up getting 4k tombstoned before you even managed to get a single gen done. Does that mean tombstone myers is broken? Does that mean the map / match was unfair? Does that mean Survivors are underpowered?
The main reason why the match came to this was because Survivors played like potatoes and they got punished for it, I don't think anyone would disagree here. Yet exactly these Survivors are the ones complaining afterwards about how unbalanced the game is.
Desperately trying to to delude oneself - only very few DbD players can actually get out of a lost match and think: "Damn, I totally messed up this time!". That would imply that they lacked the skill to win and who would dare to admit they lack skill when you can blame it on the game or the opposite player?
