2k games are probably the least common outcome...0k and 4k are pretty common, as are 1ks where killer camps the hook with the gates powered, and 3ks where the last surv finds the hatch. The dev's just want the average to be 2k when you ad it all up, it's not like they want the majority of games to be 2ks.

    This is very true aswell.

Most games are incredibly onesided and the outcome is decided in the first 1-2 minutes. it's either 0-1k or 3-4k, very rarely it's a 2k

Depends On the map and your positioning and what the bubbas using and the skill of said bubba. Not everyones a godly looper even in the top.

    Not really, no.

When the match starts not a single pallet is used so there should be plenty of loopable obstacles. If you end up in a dead zone without a sprint burst / lithe ready to reach a pallet it was your lack of map awareness that gave the Bubba a quick chase. An early hook is almost always the case of incompetent / impatient Survivors.

Quite ironically, the first hook is also the most important one for the Killers as it allows them to snowball. I'm always impressed how quickly Survivors give that away even though they have a fresh map with 20 pallets available.

I dont know why people do it, i guess it gives them the illusion of some sort of power they dont have in RL. Probably they got bullied and want to let off their frustration on somebody. The even more sad part is that they dont realise how embaressing they are.

If i get facecamped after a 5 gen run, its the ultimate trophy for me and the killer is just feeding into it even more.

If i get facecamped from the beginning on for no reason, he is just throwing the game and gives me time to do something really quick.

If i get facecamped when the gates are powered they admit with it that they lost the game horribly.

Whatever reason they might have, camping make them look even weaker if they would not have camped. On top of that, they get less bloodpoints aswell. The best part of it is when they get their 1K and come up with something like gg ez. They usually go totally nuts when you just response gg wp. Its the best feeling you can possibly get in this game 😁

So that means it's no problem to facecamp you, you're always happy about it? I wish more Survivors were like that, please teach them ;-)

  • @supersonic853 said:

If i see one more do more bones arguement i swear tg. Peanits confirmed one major problem lies when the killers camping with noed or high pressure killers. Lets say killer downs first survivor in 30 seconds as bubba. Okay gens take 80 seconds to do so they are half way done when the killer starts to camp (10 seconds to hook). Death timer is 2 minutes one survivor hops off to go for the save and sees killers camping so has to come back killing like maybe 20 seconds while the other 2 gens pop. Survivor gets gen done while other survivors are starting on next gen survivor dies because its been 2 minutes. Killer heads over other survivor kills say maybe 30-40 seconds running. 2 survivors on gens takes 80 seconds each but it took 10 seconds for each of them to get to a new gen. They get last 2 gens done so they have 20 seconds to get the heck out. Killer leaves hook 5 seconds before survivor dies on hook and gets 3rd survivor with noed and facecamps him to death. So lets add totems to the equation now. Each totem takes 15 seconds meaning itd take 30 seconds for 3 of the survivors and 15 for another. This is why otz made facecamping bubba combo and its known as the "combo with no answer". It also sucks when you are being pressured by a high pressure killer like oni barely get the gens done just to get hit by another instadown on a already instadown killer. I understand the perk but if we really want to move away from swf and buff solos to their level noeds gonna be a prime candiate to look at. I can do 4 totems and be like "alright as long as survivors did literally 1 totem im fine" at the end i get hit by noed and die on hook. I did my job i cleansed 4 totems! Did gens and did saves! Why do i get punished for this!? This isnt even considered a team based game by the devs its considered a free for all yet perks like noed kinda force the "we need to work together" narrative. Bringing in small game puts you on totem duty which is still 70 seconds of cleansing if you do it by yourself and you always need to do it to assume noed. So either way noed is saving the killer time (even if they don't have it) its like killers with ds you can never know when the survivor has it so slugging is always a choice you need to maybe make (ive ran unbreakable but not ds for this reason i hope someone else brings ds so the killer slugs me to avoid it. Thats the power of a perk like it. Go ahead and waste time doing totems in fear of my perk i don't have i don't do hex's so your just giving me more pressure by wasting your time.

If you get downed against a Leatherface in 30-40 seconds you deserve to lose. Keeping the Killer busy for as long as possible is a major aspect of DbD, probably the most important one and Leatherface is one of the easiest Killers to loop even now after his buff.

Besides, the same perks exist for Survivors aswell, namely DS and BT. Unsafe unhooks in front of the Killer. Go ahead and kill the injured Survivor and waste time going through BT and DS. Or chase the other Survivor and go through the 3 hook stages again.

I only "Face Camp" when someone disrespects me. I camp/honeypot whenever it is tactically wise.

Yea, some Survivors are asking for it.

Yesterday I had a match where I got slugged for almost the full 4 minutes while everyone else was already dead. That Wraith wasn't happy that I found a flashlight but I couldn't blame him, sometimes it doesn't take much to trigger someone - especially when they already had a few frustrating matches.

I hate the people that play toxic and then act as if they didn't do anything wrong.

  • It can actually be really funny when you hook some teabagger and then end up 4k the whole SWF because they so desperately tried to save them :-)))))

I only camp when someone really pisses me off.

I know, I was just trying to put the chance into some perspective.

I can't find a source from the devs about the map rotation, but I do remember something from like back in 2016 or 2017, possibly a devstream. I would assume it's more logical to first pick the Realm and then the Map, since Maps from the same Realm can otherwise quickly start feeling 'kind of the same'. But I can't find any source or statistics with a high sample rate, so I'm not entirely sure.

True that but it would lower the chances to be sent to one map realms such as Ormond, Lérys, Hawkins, Haddonfield, Dead Dawg Saloon, Midwich or Gideon Meat Plant. I really don't like most of those maps but now there's almost a 50% chance that it's one of them.

It's been weeks since last time I played on Wreckers Yard.

  • Hawkins has some insane window loops that you can abuse and they're right in the center of the map, easily accessible. But yea, some pallets there are pretty much a guaranteed hit... You either get the stun or you get #########.

  • @SteenGooier said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1525072#Comment_1525072

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I would actually do 'the math' to clarify that this is still very plausible with random map picking:

The map RNG first picks the Realm a match will take place on, and if that Realm has multiple Maps, it will choose a Map from the picked Realm. The Game and Mount Ormond Resort are both Maps that belong in a Realm with only one map, so to simplify I'm gonna translate your question to "What is the chance to get the same Realm 3 times in a row, and then a different Realm 3 times in a row, in the span of 6 matches". In the calculations I will assume that no one will use Realm offerings.

    (15/15) * (1/15) * (1/15) * (14/15) * (1/15) * (1/15) * 100 = ~0.00184%

In my simplified question it doesn't matter which Realm your first game is on (15/15), to then get the same realm 2 more times in a row has a chance of (1/15) * (1/15) * 100 = ~0.4444%. To then land on a different Realm has a chance of (14/15), and to then land on that same different Realm 2 more times also has about a 0.4444% chance. Multiply it all together and you get about 0.00184%.

Now that might seem as a very low chance, but considering DbD had ~40000 average players in June and July, and on average you can play about 3 matches in an hour (maybe 2 if the matchmaking is really, really bad). That means that every hour, 40000 / 5 * 3 = 24000 matches are played, of which each match has 5 players. 0.00184% out of 24000 is ~0.44 matches / hour. Multiplied by 5 again means that on average about 2.2 people each hour will get the same Realm 3 times in a row, and then a different Realm also 3 times in a row straight after.

    And just for fun: Specifically getting 3x The Game, and then 3x Ormond will happen about (1/15)^6 * 40000 * 3 * 24 = ~0.253 times a day.

Bro you calculated the probability for this to happen for the ENTIRE playerbase.

The math is simple, there is a 0.44% chance to get the same realm 3 times in a row - that means it should only ever happen once in 227 matches. So that's like roughly once per month assuming you play 2-3 hours a day on average.

BTW: Do you have a source where they confirm that the realms are randomed and then the maps for that specific realm? Because that would cause insane imbalances between 1 map realms and the old 5 map realms.

  • Ok, I got another solution for you that helps against NOED and doesn't require you to do anything at all:

Don't be chased / caught when the last gen is about to pop and don't be the first to get found once gates are powered.

The result is that most likely someone else gets caught and hooked instead and in the meantime you can safely open the gate and escape. EzClap NOED avoided!

  • With each Generator completed, the Survivors potential repair speed for the remaining generators increases, that's why Killers get stressed out.

Each *BLING* is an indicator that you're running out of time.

  • @Jukenobi said:

Dance with me, Lithe, Quick and Quiet, Fixated. Confuses the hell out of killers.

Dance With Me & Lithe is the most underrated combo in the game but I wouldn't say it's annoying for Killers.

  • Quickly unhooking someone to annoy the Killer to no end!

Wooow calm down, that is soooo annoying and toxic!

Now you are just arguing for the sake of arguing. Cease.

I did not lie in the slightest to make a point, as I did do bones. Just because I can't always find all of them does not mean that I didn't do the counter.

Leave this thread. I'm over dealing with people like you.

In that case you failed to understand the purpose of "doing bones".

The idea is to cleanse all 5 totems so no totem remains for NOED to activate. Maybe the wording of "doing bones" needs a bit more details to point out the obvious, it should be:

    "Do ALL the bones!"

That's like saying "I did the gens and Adrenaline still didn't activate!" and then it turns out that you only did 4 gens. That was obviously not enough, just like your totems were not enough.

  • @YehBoiGoku said:

ok mixing all this knowledge I now understand it's because an experienced player can get a way too big of an upper hand with these second chance perks correct?

Experienced players make only very few mistakes and these perks allow them to avoid the consequences of these mistakes.

If you're a bad player that makes many mistakes then these perks are not that powerful, 10 seconds later you will get downed again so it's not a big deal.

If you're an experienced player, these perks can easily increase the chase by a few minutes even if the Killer makes no mistakes. That's why people complain.

The better the players, the stronger these perks are. When you watch McLean play against some scrub potatoes it looks fine to him because "not everyone is playing DbD in high skill level" which is certainly true but doesn't change the fact that it's broken in high skill matches. Problem is, they don't care about high skill because the majority is casual.

    Hey genius.

Small chance DOESN'T mean it can not happen at all. You should probably learn more about probability.

I never said it can't happen but the amount of times it happens does not equate the amount of times it should happen.

How small is the small chance btw, I want you to give me a number :-)

This. Is. Not. About. NoED. Activating.

Yes, I am mad at my team for not contributing. But that's not what the post is about.

I am deeply annoyed that the common response to genuine issues about NoED is "Just do bones" and I have had to say that about 50 times now.

So again. It is not NoED existing, activating or being a bad perk. It is that I am over hearing "do bones" because I did them.

I'm over it. I'm not taking anyone on this thread seriously any more because they aren't taking me seriously.

You obviously didn't do the totems because NOED still activated. If you dedicate yourself to doing totems then you gotta DO THE TOTEMS and don't just stop after you did 3 of them. You can do 4 and find the location of the last one to quickly cleanse it once it becomes a hex but that's the only excuse when doing totems.

So I guess you only did 60-80% of the totems, which is not enough, therefore you failed at your task of "doing bones".

  • I played like 40 hours of Survivor in the past week and I still get ridiculous lobbies.

  • Ahh the classic arrogant pun "we almost made it out" to taunt the Killer after an easy 4x escape.

Sad to see that even new players get trolled like that.

  • @Artick said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/57039/same-map-twice-in-a-row

I feel like people don't really understand what random means. They expect random numbers or maps or whatever to always be different, that's not the case. Random means you can get the same thing one million times in a row, 0 times, or anything in between.

Hey genius, ever heard of probability calculations?

DbD has 15 realms and 35 different maps. How high are the chances to get 3x The Game and 3x Ormond in a row within 6 matches?

I let you do the math.

  • It's obvious why people complain, if you can't see that then I feel sorry for you. If you're just trolling, I also feel sorry for you.

    Pitiable.

  • It's can be both, depending on how the Survivors use it. More often I see it as an Anti-Momentum perk because the DS users literally force the Killers to eat the DS.

    So:

If a Survivor throws themself at the Killer with an active DS - Anti-Momentum

If a Survivor fails to stay hidden after getting unhooked and the Killer finds them again with no intention to tunnel - Anti-Momentum

If a Killer intentionally tunnels the same Survivor - Anti-Tunnel

  • I can't believe the potatoes are STILL complaining about NOED all while defending DS/BT/DH/UB in the same post.

    LOL

Funny thing is that my matches generally aren't what you'd call "close". Normally I have at least 2 generators left.

The message that I was always trying to spread about drawing out games during the emblem system is that BOTH sides are hurt massively by either side rushing, and that I found a playstyle that works massively for the emblem system.

That one scene from Fate/Zero where Caster does the thing is the best way I can put it. Survivors need some level of hope, then you snatch it out from under them.

Ah I'm sorry, I didn't mean to refer to you personally but as general observation that close matches should give less "rating" while obvious stomps should give more "rating". The time required to achieve that result is more or less irrelevant, the result is what matters.

But the Emblem punishes efficient Killers that 4k quickly so I never really liked it.

Victory Cube is my thing, 2 kills = safety, 2 kills + some hooks = 1 pip, 4 kills = double pip. Simple but accurate imo.

  • It was probably considered "glasmorizing alcohol"... Not sure if that's the correct word for it but that's what it would be called in central EU.

Really sad what we've become, if you see a bottle of beer or a cigar people already get triggered

"OH MY GOD BAN THIS MOVIE, IT PROMOTES DRINKING ALCOHOL AND SMOKING CIGARS!"

  • The mods are not to blame here, they simply communicate to us what they've been told. It must be frustrating to be the middle man between this community and some of the devs, not being able to give correct feedback (if any feedback at all) while constantly getting spammed and flamed. Buuuut that's their job after all ... HAHA :)

  • @Raven014 said:

They said they were sticking to humanoid, which is two arms and two legs and a head. They said this because they would be able to use similar rigs for killers. It is why they aren't making creatures a part of it. No multi-leg creatures. At least until further notice.

Do you know what "The Human Centipede" is? Before you watch it; it's 3+ people stitched together (butt to mouth) and that's the human centipede. They're actual humans just a little bit ...reassembled.

  • Do you mean the actual "human centipede" or the Doctor / Security guy / Prison boss?

It would not make sense to use the Human Centipede as Killer because these are actually the victims enjoying sexy moments defecating in each others mouths. And the others would be kinda unspectacular so not too sure what to think of it....

  • Nope, sometimes you'll get destroyed and it happens to the best Killers from time to time.

If you watch Streamers, also keep in mind that chances are high there are stream snipers on the Survivor team trying to get their 10 minutes of attention. Those players usually don't play sweaty which makes it much easier for the streamer to look good.

If you're skilled you should be able to maintain a ~80-90% winrate (3-4k) even in Rank 1 but you never know when they're going to hit you with a complete roflstomp that makes you feel like a baby killer.

  • Exactly the same.

    Me: Rank 1 Survivor

Killer: Streamer with several hundred viewers and 6'000 hours on Dead By Daylight.

    My Teammates:

    Rank 20 - 24 hours

    Rank 18 - 41 hours

    Rank 20 - 7.8 hours

  • I don't understand it either, it's horrible for newer people being forced to play against red rank players.

Apparently the devs think a players Rank is meaningless (which to some point I agree) but you know when that's the case? When a player reached Rank 1.

It absolutely does require a certain amount of skill and experience to reach Rank 1, no one can deny that. Maybe it's not that much but it's at least something. So a player that never reached Rank 10 is most likely worse than someone that gets to Rank 1 only two days after Rank reset.

The thing is that players with 300 hours and players with 3000 hours can both be Rank 1 but the skill difference between those two players is massive despite being on the same Rank. I think that's where the "Rank means nothing" is coming from?

Half the time I try to extend the game, it's to avoid tunnelling and give survivors a second chance to learn from their mistakes. I'm not at all forced into it and I don't force others into farming. What I do I don't even class as farming.

Not saying that you HAVE to do it either. Just that the emblem system promoted longer, drawn out games and that is the playstyle that I naturally gravitated towards.

And yes, Roobnus, I am a nightmare to verse. But not for the reason you think. My top 3 played killers are Pig, Doctor and Legion. When I play killer, I play to be in control of what happens.

With my main, Pig, I use the RBT to limit the playing field and essentially remove a survivor from the situation temporarily then focus on protecting generators, rather than hunting kills. It does slow down the game naturally. Same with slugging recently unhooked survivors, or those with an RBT regardless of an Obsession being present. Pressure to the survivors and they also don't hate me.

There are still plenty of games where I curb stomp the survivor team, but the difference between a 3 minute stomping vs. a 7 minute stomping is easy emblems and survivors having hope. Something more important in this game than other killers realise.

I just find longer and controlled games more satisfying. The emblem system promoted that.

Alright, that makes sense if this is the playstyle you like.

The idea of "long, drawn out matches with a spectaculat and non-expecting ending" is a wet fantasy of the devs but let's be honest most matches are decided in the first 2-3 minutes of a match when you realize who you're playing with / against.

If you face weak opponents that get downed in 10 seconds even though they're in good positions then there is no reason to prolong the match, I beat these guys in 2 minutes and that should be a better "performance" than a close, drawn out match that took me 20 minutes to get the same result. It's a bit like winning 16-15 in CS:GO or winning 16-0 for example, the later means you obviously completly dominated the match and therefore your rating should be much higher than the rating of your opponents, right? That is why I still like the Victory Cube system, it was straight forward based on efficiency and that's all that matters to me :-)

Going through your television program doesn't make you a programmer! Jk but let's be honest here, for a programmer home office is a blessing because no one's there to interrupt you while you're focused.

  • That's probably what happened. Mods and Devs gotta be careful on the forum, nothing will be forgotten so whatever they say better be true or it will backfire. It's always like that when something bad happened, they remain silent and "focus on solving the issue" rather than openly communicate with us what's going on.

Almost as if they want to pretend that nothing is wrong and then suddently come up with a fix like

500 blink strikes with nurse (my worst killer) 151/500

I just did the Oni one a few days ago, it was frustrating because I would get red rank Survivors even though I never played him before and had no perks at all. I used Infectious Fright and just slugged whenever the perk gave me a reason to.

As for Nurse, that can be a tough one as it will take a while to get used to the blinks. Good luck, I'd say you already have the hardest / most frustrating ones so congrats on that :)

  • Reaching Rank 1 as Killer and as Solo Survivor will give you a new perspective.

I can't take anyone serious that hasn't reached those ranks yet and for some reason still think they know the game.

  • Two things:

    • People that use achievement hacks are losers with a small pp and no one will ever love them.
    • If you see someone with hacked achievements or a chat log file where they admit to hack, report it to the dbd devs or steam and they will get banned.

I forgot something: You should do the achievements to give yourself a challenge, not to look better for others. The achievements are a goal you set yourself, something you can even be a bit proud of simply because you were patient enough to go through them all without cheating.

If the killer just killed everyone too fast, then there is the argument to be made that they had the option to toy with the survivors and prolong their suffering. As a Pig main, I specialise in slowing the game to a crawl with a combination of stealth, Reverse Bear Traps discouraging generator repairs and tactical slugging. The emblem system loves me for it, and even if things don't go my way, I still do well.

Dominant killers always had the option of slow-balling it but thought that 4 instant skulls was more important.

Do you promote prolonging and holding the game hostage here in order to farm Emblem points??? What the #########???

If I stomp 4 noobs then that means I stomped 4 noobs, there are no IFs and BUTs. If I STOMP people then that means I am obviously higher skilled as they are overall so I should rank up faster than winning while struggling for 20 minutes - and THEY must rank down because obviously they don't belong here.

Jeeez it must be a nightmare to play against you if you stall and prolong every match in an unnatural way just to farm those stupid emblem points.

IKR, if that's considered an offensive action then things like Nurse blink, Hag tp or Doctors shock should also be considered "offensive actions". In fact Doctors shock is pretty damn similar to the bottle.

I'm gonna add to your maths here.

For the two blinks to recharge that's 6 seconds needed, 2.5 seconds of which are spent in fatigue. This means you'd be walking at a speed of 3.85m/s for 3.5 seconds before both blinks are fully recharged. This means that you'd travel 13.475m in that time (3.85m/s * 3.5 seconds). So after she blinks twice and moves those 33m in 8.4s she's stuck in recharge for a further 3.5s, moving 13.475m as she does, meaning in one double blink cycle she moves 46.475m in 11.9s.

Scaling this up to move ~100m it takes The Nurse a grand total of 25.6051640669 seconds if I did this correctly which I hope I did.

    For simplicity's sake, let's call it 25.61s

EDIT: Something I forgot to take into account is obstacles. The nurce can blink through everything whilst the spirit must dodge them, meaning the nurse can make a direct bee-line but spirit can't. This may add onto her travel time and make nurse actually faster but there are too many variables there for me to try and work it out effectively.

Yea that's true, there are many more factors to consider but if we assume an open area with no obstacles, even a basic Survivor is faster than a Nurse on the long run. The reason why she is so strong is because she ignores obstacles, imagine if you had to blink around obstacles lmao ;)

Dowsey has also predicted Pyramid head may see a lot of use due to his ability to ignore common perks like ds and kill people very very quickly, putting immense pressure on the survivor team.

But yeah I don't think I've ever seen Hag used in a tournament once. I've seen more Billy's than Hag's.

Fair, I have no problem "admitting" that Hag isn't played that often but it's also irrelevant nitpicking that ultimately has no impact on the statement I made. Point is, certain Killers or Perks perform better against skilled Players and others don't. If you bring a Trapper or Wraith against skilled players, chances are high that you get demolished because these Killers are weak in comparision to Nurse or Spirit. If you let Rank 20s play as Nurse then she will appear much weaker than Trapper due to them not knowing how to play.

So if you want to see proper balance, you let the best Killers play against the best Survivors and see how they perform. The matchmaking is so random that the games are already unbalanced before it even starts.

E: That was supposed to be a critique for the devs for nerfing Clown. They obviously have no idea how high skill matches look like if they think Clown needed a nerf.

  • I can't believe people still argue about if rank matters or not.

Let me explain this once again:

RANK 1 is the highest rank you can get. That does not mean your skill can't increase any further at that point, SURPRISE! So obviously not every Rank 1 Player has the same skill, you realize that? Not every Rank 1 player is good at looping, some of them are perhaps really good at losing the Killer or staying hidden?

And by now you may have noticed that against certain Killers, certain playstyles are more effective than others, right?

So when you see a "potato" Rank 1 Survivor that can't loop, that Survivor probably is destroying Spirits and Nurses on a regular basis because they don't rely on looping but other playstyles.... While you're in the corner crying about how you can't loop the Nurse. So when I play against a Nurse or Spirit and I see some DS noobs going down in 10 seconds I am the one that thinks "..that's a Rank 1?!?!" because apparently they have no idea how to play against Nurse or Spirit.

Does that mean they are overall unskilled? No. It means they have not yet mastered every aspect of the game and that is the point. Rank 1 DOESN'T mean "MASTERED THE GAME". It means that I am on a level where I can maintain a positive pip / depip ratio against the best Killer players in the game.

It also doesn't mean that it's impossible to face stronger Rank 10s than Rank 1s because ranks are temporary. A Rank 1 can be rank 20 a few months later, that doesn't make this player an actual Rank 20 player. They are STILL Rank 1 players.

So let me explain it like this:

An actual Rank 10 player (someone that has NEVER been higher) is in 99% of cases worse than an unboosted Rank 1 player.

An actual Rank 1 player (someone that has reached R1 without playing SWF) is ALWAYS better than a boosted SWF Rank 1 player.

And THIS is why you see "potatos" in Rank 1. They're either boosted or prefer other playstyles besides the meta, most likely due to boredom.
