Honestly everbody who states that survive in high ranks is easy has never faced a skilled high rank killer. Try survive against a good nurse. It doesn't matter how good you are...
You're really living up to your name, nice!
-
Damn that's really not nice.
Can you by any chance give me the steam of the guy that typed "stfu rank 18". It's for science.
-
Man it really looks like this system puts together people from one extreme to another. You see high rank Killers going up against 4 baby Survivors and the other way around, it makes absolutely no sense and there is no logical reason for me that could explain this behaviour.
-
Fun times. I also love the giant walls of Haddonfield where you have to run around 3 buildings to finally find an opening while Survivors can jump a few windows to gain enough distance to waste a Killers lifetime.

That's my biggest annoyance now that I'm more often being teamed up with newer players. Newer players have so much downtime. I get hooked after a chase and their auras are revealed to me only to see that they're all kinda just standing there.
So yes OP, count yourself lucky when you get teammates that actually do something productive. :p
The thing is, that doesn't really make it harder to play Survivor. It makes it harder to WIN, that's for sure but playing Survivor still remains rather easy after all.
There's not that much skill required unless we're talking about things like flashlight saves or actually losing the Killer - but those things happen quite rarely to be honest, even in high ranks. The basics are more or less: Repair gens, hide until found, loop.
-
I also don't understand why people think it's hard to play Survivor. As long as you constantly do SOMETHING, you will most likely win.
The only problem are new players that hide in lockers on the opposite side of the map and as soon as they hear a heartbeat they panic and sprint away, waste all pallets when being chased ect.

And, I'm ttv solo player, and get hated first from killers lol ttv killers are more worse than survs, killers with ttv play way too toxic, for viewers, and abuse you in the end
Name me one Killer streamer that purposely plays toxic for their viewers and abuses the Survivors in the end. Go ahead.
Without even heading over to Twitch I could name you a handful of Survivor streamers which do exactly this thing
-
There is no way the system actually considers such special situations. I would be surprised if it even considers your teammates and the Killers rating when elaborating your performance.
Knowing BHVR for 4 years now, I'd say it's as simple as this:
Survivors rating vs the Killers rating
- If you die, your rating decreases
- If you escape, your rating increases

This Op talking about how players will leave the game, talking about piss poor content, when in reality so far its been pretty decent and if people are addicted to it well then that means they made a fun game.. don’t know why you compared video games to coke/drugs :/ kinda weird comparison my man.
In that case you should've quoted the OP if you wanted to talk to him ;-)
Maybe the comparision is a bit extreme but in the end we all know that gaming is an addiction that can psychologically (and physically) harm you - even to the point where it actually ruins your life.

That doesn’t really have anything to do with the argument that this game is dying, its not its pretty damn good atm and still improving i think the best is yet to come
When and where did I say the game is dying?

Huh almost as if the game isn’t really this bad and some people are over exaggerating it.
Nope, people are just too addicted to let go. Gaming is an addiction for most of us.
You'll also find people telling you that doing coke or smoking is not that bad but we all know it is.
-
I noticed that on other maps aswell, we often spawn together and usually as far away from the Killer as possible so we finish the first gen before the Killer even gets there lol.

Aside from the fact that a customer is literally entitled to a good product after paying money.
Exactly. Looking at Dead By Daylight, a rather simple game that asks for well over 100$ with all the DLCs;
It shouldn't be too much to ask for a relatively bug free game with a proper ranking / matchmaking system and acceptable balance.
The game and it's DLCs sell pretty well so BHVR should have more than enough money to hire competent developers to clean up the mess.

So if a person like me gets served a burnt steak at a restaurant which he paid 18€ for he should shut up because he can't cook and never worked in his life?
Some seriously flawed logic right there.
Good analogy.
It's daily business for pretty much everyone. For example at your job you are supposed to provide content of good quality, that's all that matters. YOU are supposed to do that work, it's what you've been hired for so if you provide poor quality then you're not doing your job properly. It doesn't matter if the HR-woman couldn't do it better, she never applied for that.

I would swap Oni with Huntress and Pig with Wraith but overall solid list.

to get multiple purple perks they have obviously played more than the brown rank would suggest. congrats you learned you are just average like most humans, and thats ok
Your loadout has nothing to do with your skill and the perks that were used in that screenshot can be unlocked in a few hours of playtime.
Playing the game (and therefore "having perks") doesn't necessarily equals "being skilled". I see people with several hundred hours of playtime and most perks unlocked that play like potatoes that never even managed to reach Rank 10 on any role. Then I see players with 15 hours of playtime that already reached Rank 1 with no perks whatsoever.

all of those "brown" ranked survivors had multiple advanced perks. they DCd because you brought the ebony mori... not because you were good.
So now your perk loadout determines whether you're skilled or not. Brilliant idea, you're a real genius!
-
The sad thing about this is that the playerbase is not leaving the game, that's why they can continue to release poor quality content.

IMO they should place every new player in the 25th percentile and everyone else who didn't play when data was being gathered at whatever the average MMR is. I highly doubt any newbie can play better than the bottom quarter of players right off the bat, which would help isolate them from completely unfair trials, and everyone else should be at least average at the game. Devotion doesn't really count for much since it just shows play time; they might as well use the normal rank for that.
That could of course also work, the importance is that they use something to filter out actual noobs. Right now it's actually disastrous what lobbies the matchmaking is putting together, it's a nightmare for new players and the experienced players are getting bored.
-
It would make sense to use the Devotion Level to roughly estimate the skill & experience of a player and then from that point on let people rank up / down depending on their performance.
I've seen actual Devotion 24 players with several thousand hours of playtime going up against Killers with less than 50 hours for several matches in a row.
-
If a Survivor that is part of a SWF sees the Killer, it's basically the whole SWF that sees the Killer now. They all know where the Killer is and what they're doing.
A possible solution could be to reveal the auras of the other SWF players as long as the Killer is chasing one of them. An exchange of informations just like in a SWF.
-
I got a full Lobby of Rank 1-3 Surivivors as Rank 18 Killer. I gotta check if I saved a screenshot though!

It’s really weird, BHVR seems to cater to the lower ranks, but when it comes to brand new players they seem to not care.
Ive said it before with Stranger Things and Silent hill being so popular the game should have exploded in the past year but I don’t think it has. It’s because if your first 10 games are miserable you won’t stick around for more
This is the main reason why many of my friends stopped playing after only a few hours of playtime.
The matchmaking and ranking system is and has always been pretty much meaningless which lead to very unfair matches, which lead to incredibly frustrating matches especially for new players, which results in them dropping the game again before they can learn how to play.
-
All it does is drive new players away.
-
In times like these where the first gen pops before the Killer can even get to the gen, the use of NOED is certainly justified.
I'm playing Rank 1 Survivor after 2 years of break and it's an absolute joke now that Ruin is gone. Most of the time the first gen pops before I even know who the Killer is, it's ridiculous.

if u win without addons billy then congratz u just beat players with poor looping skills and bad decision making teams.
to beat decent teams u would need his instadown or double engraving and u gotta be 1 of the best billies in dbd.
and to beat top tier master looping squad team which are all equally as good and they enforce themselves on gens alone, mate u wont win even if ur the biggest most badasss billy on the planet. u will just lose low dif.
Your argument applies to pretty much every Killer.
As for Billy, there's more to it than just blindly following a looper. You can pick the area you want to chase people, you can pick the area where you want to defend the last gens. You can quickly switch targets and catch Survivors in bad positions near exposed gens ect.
So yea, I can loop most Billys for 5 gens straight because they blindly follow me through the safe zones. Good Billys will switch targets and eventually catch someone off guard and that's usually when the snowballing begins.
-
As Rank 16 Killer I get four Rank 1 Survivors.
As Rank 1 Survivor I get actual Rank 20 Killers with less than 50 hours.
Yea, great matchmaking!

Voice communication plays a big part, but they can't do anything about third party devices that have no relation in the game.
They can't do anything about third party softwares / devices but they can do something about the imbalance between solos and SWFs.
Even without voice communication a SWF team always has an advantage over solos because they're at least aware of the other players perks, experience/skill and playstyles/roles ect.
As solo you just get thrown in a team with 3 random players and you have no idea how competent they are.
I'm not saying that SWFs per default are stronger than any 4 solos but put those 4 solos in a SWF and they will certainly become a lot stronger than previously when they were actually solo and couldn't coordinate anything.
-
Oh god, I hope Billy is fine. I never really used add-ons on him so if his base kit more or less remained the same, he should be fine...
I did the "Iron Billy" challenge a few months ago (No perks, no add-ons, no offerings from Rank 20 to Rank 1) and it only took me about 14 hours with a 100% winrate (always 3-4 kills and always pip/double pip).
A bit scared to test him now...
-
I often play with my friend who has maybe 200 hours in the game and I'd say we 3-4 man escape at least 50% of all matches we play in red ranks, probably even more.
The info we can give each other thanks to voice communication is huge, just yesterday we won a 2v1 with 3 gens left against a Pig on Lérys. At the start I keep the Killer busy for a while so 3 gens pop in no time, after that it's more or less "farming for Emblems and leave" unless the Killer starts to camp / tunnel.
So I think SWF can be very powerful but in the end it depends on the players and how they want to play the game. 4 solos that know what they're doing can be much stronger than 4 friends that just want to mess around a bit.
Of course SWF will always have the upper hand simply because of their ability to coordinate the plays thanks to voice communication.
-
E: Just read through the update and seems like the visual Rank is effectively meaningless for the matchmaking. Nice, that sounds really interesting!
A loadout would definitly help - being able to switch through different builds quickly depending on the Survivors items and skins / skin colour.
-
DC is like a confession that you're overwhelmed by your emotions while playing a freaking video game.
I can't remember the last time I disconnected from a match but that's how I feel about it. So yea I feel sorry for people that often have to DC because they can't even handle a few annoying moments in a video game.
Spoiled brats, probably the same guys you see'll see in the Store screaming at the cashier because someone else took the last toilet paper in front of their eyes.
-
I don't think you can't change a persond attitude via a video game.
Why are people toxic and want to make other people suffer? The root of that toxicity is probably much deeper and it can't just be solved by "being nice to them regardless of their behaviour". It more often backfire in them taking advantage of nice people.

This is the only true and helpful answer here.
It's not true at all.
If someone is an ######### to everyone for no reason, then that person is toxic.
If someone is an ######### to that actual #########, is that really toxic?
I know most people grow up and are raised "always behaving nicely no matter the circumstances" but in the end that's why many people end up as rather weak personalities, they never learned how to stand up for themselves and rather remained silent to avoid confrontation.
I think toxic people need to taste some of their own medicine to realize that their behaviour actually hurts other people.
-

Toxic behavior is not the counter to toxic behavior. Its exactly what causes this problem within the community. Endless loop
It would be best if BHVRs took responsibility to handle toxicity the proper way. I personally don't think it's toxic to be toxic towards toxic people.
At some point you gotta take care of your toxic environment yourself and stop relying on other people, stop relying on the "good" in people. Some people will only learn it the hard way - by confronting them the same toxic way they confront others.
But that's just my opinion.

Survs ranks up so fast because other way there were no survs in 1-5 ranks. That's why it's more difficult to rank up as killer, so you don't see all killers in rank 1-5
Ahh I see, but that makes no sense to me.
If reaching red ranks is more a matter of time rather than actual skill, it's pretty much meaningless, I guess we can all agree on that.
The more you play, the more likely you're going to reach red ranks regardless of your skill. That explains why even potatoes like me end up in red ranks sooner or later... Nice ranking system!
-
Just for the record:
A Killer can ONLY EVER facecamp a Survivor once they get hooked. What does this mean? It means the Survivor had already messed up / played bad in several situations prior to the actual facecamp:
1) The Survivor failed to hide from the Killer and got found
2) The Survivor failed to lose the Killer and gets hit
3) The Survivor once again failed to lose the Killer and gets downed & hooked
So if anyone else dares to bring up the "If you can't get a kill, git gud" then just remember that each hook is the result of a Survivors poor plays.
You mostly get facecamped for two reasons;
- You are a toxic piece of ######### so the Killer wants to get rid of you really badly
- You are really good at the game so the Killer wants to get rid of you really badly
If you were really good at the game, you would only ever get facecamped after running the Killer for 3 minutes straight at which point it's not a big deal anymore. If you're a toxic piece of ######### then you deserve to get facecamped. If you happen to get facecamped for no reason at all very easly in the match then that Killer is a toxic piece of ######### and deserves to get looped and gen rushed into oblivion.
Simple DbD rules.

That makes sense because I only see games with 0-1k (10%-90%) which ultimately leads to ~50% escape rate.
So, thanks for being a potato so we can troll the hell out of Killers while still keeping the average escape numbers somewhat low.
:-*
-
I experienced the exact opposite. I ranked from 20 to 5 in about 10 hours as Survivor. The funny thing is that in 2016/2017 when I still played a lot of DbD I never even reached rank 10 survivor at all, it's weird as ######### lol. No Ruin so we just push through gens and run some loops, that basically gives you already at least a safety pip.
-
It happens on both sides - you gotta give them the proper treatment for misbehaving, hopefully they'll learn from it or get tired.
-
It's more that no Survivor main watches Tru3, I guess that's why it seems like there are only Killer mains. He isn't exactly Survivor sides so why would Survivors watch him, despite the fact that he often plays Survivor?
Yes, Tru3 may be a crybaby that complains a lot but he has a lot of knowledge about the game due to his experience on both sides. If you check out for example Angrypug or No0b3 you will see the exact opposite, people will make fun of the Killers.
The community is basically split in two groups but let me tell you this; most Killer mains do actually play Survivor from time to time while most Survivor mains never even reached Rank 10 Killer - even after thousands of hours.
-
This is awesome. Sweaty Spirit for red ranks and roflstomp Hag for low ranks, I already love it.
-
I don't think Killers should depip if they can't get a kill because of gen rushing and looping.

Because unless THEY specified THEY wanted to be called it, which I ######### doubt they did, the easy go to for being unsure is THEY.
IT dehumanizes people. Regardless of gender, calling someone IT establishes that you view them as an item, not a person.
Using "they" to refer to a person of unknown gender makes no sense to many people that don't use english as their native language.
They is a plural pronoun, it is used to refer to several individuals so to me, it sounds highly schizophrenic to talk to a person while using plural pronouns. I guess that's why this person used "it" to not assume this persons gender, because "IT" in that concext clearly represents the noun "Person".
IT is A PERSON so how can that be considered dehumanizing? It's a person like you and me? Or is the correct wording here
"THEY are a person like you and me"? (a single person) Heck, you could even say "It is a human!". I did it again, I used "it" to refer to a human, #########?
Additionally, the person explained that they were unaware of this due to lack of english knowledge and apologized for using "it" instead of "they" and yet it was still used as justification for a permanent ban. I can try to contact this person if you want, maybe they can get a screenshot of the ban so it's not something that "can't be proven". I think there was also a reddit post about it since they were not allowed to discuss the bans on forum but guess what - they got banned there aswell.

The moderators here are great.
There’s never been a publicly known case of moderators abusing their power, or enforcing anything that’s outside of the forum rules and code of conduct. Not without proof any way.
There are certainly a lot of butt hurt members that get banned for breaking rules, then create new accounts crying “why was I banned?!” or “this is unfair!!” which again is breaking forum rules, and also subsequently banned.
If a ban gets revoked as it was not justified after being looked into by the head admin then yes, that is a case of "abusing their power".
If that specific unjustified ban then is used to issue a perma ban because "You have already been banned before so this time it is permanent!" then that is another case of a specific moderator abusing their power to take care of a personal issue that has nothing to do with actual moderation of forums.
Isn't that a bit absurd? A moderator using an unjustified and revoked ban as actual ban reason to issue a perma ban?
---
Let's just pretend that everything I said was true, what would you think about it then?
-
They are too afraid /bad to play alone but they don't want to let you know about that, so they pretend to not be in a SWF.
-
I know someone that got perma banned because he refered to a random person of unknown gender as "it".
IT is a person after all so until this day I still don't understand how that was worthy a perma ban. Pathetic once again, modern society.
