i'll admit, i didnt see you were a survivor, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't SWF even if you were not in it.

@BunnyTheHutt Which brings us back to the original counter-point: Assume the other three survivors were SWF. That means the 3-man SWF were ranks 19, 19, and 20. Being partnered with a Rank 11 solo-survivor and a rank 13 killer means the matchmaking is screwed-up. Two rank 19s and a rank 20 should not be partnered with an 11, or matched against a 13.

  • @BunnyTheHutt But even if those three were SWF, a triple-man of 19, 19, and 20 still should not have been mixed in with a Rank 11 survivor teammate and a rank 13 killer. Something is off with the matchmaker.

Had the rank 11 also been in the SWF, then it would have made some sense. But they weren't.

  • @BeanieBoyBob It's one of the primary reasons I've put the game down and have moved on to playing other games. I might check back in September when they're supposedly going to have Dedicated Servers live, but that will depend on what games I'm into, and how deeply, by that point.

They've simply taken way, way too long to address the issue, and my patience on the issue wore out.

Translation we are going to make it easier to reveal so his power will be useless and make him below legion and freddy tier

@Horus I'll be brutally honest: I've no doubt something like that will happen by sometime in September. It's why I've refrained from purchasing him. After Freddy, and much more recently Legion, I just don't trust BVHR enough to spend even the measly $5 on the killer. Especially with all the reveal complaints going around.

@Kilmeran You asked why you have it installed.

My question is if its for when everything is normal and not super toxic.

Asking your question is implying these events are 24/ and people are always this way.

@Bbbrian2013 Ah, gotcha. I'm a bit sick this weekend, so should have added to that statement. I don't play nearly as much as I used to anymore, either.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

@Kilmeran For the other majority of the time when people aren't bringing their best stuff every match?

@Bbbrian2013 You're asking me a question, but I'm not sure what or why. I haven't played the event yet. Wouldn't be able to until later tonight. I planned to play as I always do, anyway. I'm just hearing of a lot of extra toxicity from places, and if that's the case for the event, I'll just play one of my other games.

  • Well, this is all good to know. And not just this thread, either. Guess I'll skip this one like I did the last one, and just play Overwatch and City of Heroes: Homecoming this weekend.

At this point, I'm questioning why I even have DBD installed anymore.

  • @Tzeentchling9 said:

The daily rituals are set up to make you play both sides. If you exclusively play Survivor, more killer dailies will show up.

Then it is not working as intended. I only play Killer, and a vast majority of my Daily Rituals are for various Killers. I might get two, maybe three, survivor dailies in a week.

  • Not too often anymore. There are just too many issues with the game as it stands, and the Devs are even slower to make fixes and adjustments than a Blizzard dev-team, and that's saying something.

While I'll probably hop in for the Bloodhunt this weekend, I've honestly started playing City of Heroes: Homecoming (I was a CoH vet from Beta in 2004 until sunset in 2012) and have been messing around in Realm Royale with some buddies.

Those buddies have zero interest in DBD. They will not touch the grind.

  • It's the same thing with alt accounts in Overwatch. As long as the alt accounts cost money, the studio is fine with them. Whatever.

  • My prediction is that I'll be spending my money on something else.

I’ve also been playing less but my reason is that survivor ques are very long on PS4.

@TreemanXD I also forgot to mention that I've been playing a lot of City of Heroes: Homecoming with friends and family. We were CoH vets from its launch in 2004 until its sunset in 2012. So, it's nice to be back in Paragon City, the Rogue Isles, and Praetoria again.

  • ...what would you play instead?

@PeenutsButt3r Well, I keep and eye on the forums, but I really don't play DBD anymore as it stands right now. So, I would keep on truckin' playing City of Heroes: Homecoming (I was a CoH vet from 2004-2012 when it was in retail live), and still messing around back in Overwatch, Paladins, and Realm Royale.

I agree. And another high skill cap killer. I've got so bored without a killer that's both fun to play and difficult. Spirit has finally became consistently good for me and it feels pretty #########. If they add a secondary objective, I can just main survivor until a new killer is added.

I still play the game, but tbh, I am enjoying Fortnite much more since me and my friends just have a laugh. They seem very happy I finally ditched DBD, even if it is just 70% Fortnite and 30% DBD, they're so happy XD.

I used to be more dedicated to this game, but now it's boring as hell. A secondary objective could definitely bring me, and players like me back.

@Poweas I'm in the same place, though I went back to Overwatch with a few sprinkles of Paladins and Realm Royale. Dead by Daylight in its current balance form became boring for me, and I don't have nearly the hours in it that people like you do.

Which also means no more DLC and cosmetic (or Battle Pass) money from people like me.

Secondary objectives would definitely get me to load the game and hit the play-button again.

Sadly, I don't see it happening in the next calendar year. They seem to have their Year-4 roadmap already laid out. So, maybe I'll check back in mid-2020.

  • @Hoodedfengm1n It is past the time frame to get a refund on the DLC unless you bought it within the past week. That said, the only actual recourse an unsatisfied customer has is to not purchase future DbD DLCs from a shop for cash.

That's a decision I've already made, though it didn't have to do with Legion because I didn't play them. It has to do with my complete lack of confidence in Behavior as a customer. The game has too many issues, to the point that I've been in legitimate Beta games (not those "Live Betas" studios pull now) that were in better shape.

  • @thrawn3054 Off-topic, but that Thrawn trilogy is what revived Star Wars. Like with West End Games and the table-top RPG license, Bantam got the Star Wars license at the time for cheap (compared to what it would later become). Lucas Entertainment was actually shocked they wanted the license, because they considered Star Wars over and done at that point.

The Thrawn trilogy made record sales. Subsequent books did the same. Then Dark Horse did the comics, which also made record sales. At that point, LucasFilm decided that there was more to Star Wars after all, and George decided to test the market with the Special Edition theatrical releases. They made bank, and so he decided to finally do the Prequels.

I worked at West End Games at the time in the 90s. I remember when Bantam and LucasBooks contracted a new author, they were sent a box load of our sourcebooks for the RPG since WEG was basically creating the first wave of what would later be called the Expanded Universe. The authors used those RPG sourcebooks for a lot of the base material in their novels.

  • @thrawn3054 (Thrawn was an excellent Star Wars villain, by the way). Anyway, the Devs have said in the past that they consider a balanced match as 2-dead, 2-escape. So, if that remains true today, then getting a 2k should mean you're in matches that are supposedly getting balanced for your killer skill level.

  • I played Killer. I'd tried survivor, but found it lackluster. Without a SWF group, the teamwork in here was basically nonexistent. To be honest, for my teamwork based gaming, I'll stick with Overwatch. As bad as it is in random-queue, it still beats solo-survivor here.

  • It's the same with PC. Around the Rank 10 mark, I think you really start getting matched against the higher ranks that have deranked, as a lot of them hover around Rank 10 and slightly up the ladder.

    The difficulty definitely jumps.

  • @mcNuggets Unfortunately, I really don't enjoy playing survivor. So the only option I had available was to move on (or back) to another game. Which as of tonight, I've done.

But I sincerely wish you all good games and fun with DbD. I don't hate the game, but it's not something I'm willing to devote additional time, and certainly no further money, to at this point in time. I'll still keep an eye on it from time to time, and if at any point the development team regains my confidence as a customer, then I'll be happy to play and spend again.

  • @KingB said:

My only problem is the devs lied to us. They said the FF bar WOULD NOT be depleted on miss.

Yes. @Peanits stated that, but hasn't yet addressed the fact that it was incorrect.

  • @nickoli2233 You cannot get a refund at this point and time, but you can avoid purchasing future DLCs. I won't be purchasing them. I no longer trust Behavior enough to give them more money, which is a shame. Especially since this is now the second time they have done this, the first being Freddy.

Just bought MK11, great game too, has blood and u can also kill people, what are u waiting for? :)

@Vassyle I just resubbed to WoW in the past hour. The fact that I just went back to play more of BFA rather than play more DbD is saying something. Will probably fire-up Overwatch again, too, while I'm at it.

  • @Raizinz said:

We see you adapted there....it'd be a shame if we nerfed it

Well, Mori's are complained about enough that I'm waiting for that nerf all under the guise of: not enough counter play for survivors.

@Iceman ash is also licensed and he was bought by shards.

I think all licensed chapters will be available by shards now. I think they will always make sure of it.

Honestly I think they're killing it lately. If the killer is fun I'm 100% down to buy it

And that's fair. Opinions will always vary. I'm solidly in the opposite camp, and am deciding by this evening whether or not I will uninstall the game. I already know that I'm unlikely to log into it again any time soon. And it has nothing to do with Legion or Pig, for example, as I played neither of them. But a myriad of issues and reasons.

And I don't hate or dislike the game, either. That's the kicker. But I find myself far more frustrated than having fun, in something that is supposed to be entertainment value.

  • The chances of me giving Behavior further money are somewhere between zero and null.

  • @Boss said:

If they're too inconsistent, then they're doing what they're designed to do.

Frankly, if someone came on here saying: "Wow, i got 3 Ebony Moris 72 Bloodwebs in a row!"

You can bet we'd see Bloodweb fixes next patch.

As far as add-ons and offerings, absolutely maintain the RNG. But for Perks, it is beyond asinine at this stage.

The core design of DbD is building your Perk loadout and experimenting with different Perk combinations. Only that is locked not only behind an insane BP grind, but also behind the RNG wall.

It's why I stopped playing this game as anything but a side game once in a while. I'm not going to spend hundreds and hundreds of hours before I can begin to utilize the game's core play design. And it's why for folks like me, games like Paladins (as an example) will get more of my play time and money. I can utilize the card loadout feature in full on a Hero from Level 1. And their three talents have the last one unlocked at Level 8, which is only a couple hours of play time (or I can level the hero to Level 8 with gold immediately). I don't have to grind and grind and grind and pray to RNGesus for weeks on end just to get enough Perks to then maybe start playing with loadouts. I can utilize that game's core design and experiment with builds right of the gate. And that experimentation keeps me playing and spending money.

  • Until the mid-chapter patch hits, where folks will no longer lose offerings for the loading screen failures, there's little point in extending it as-is. It's just extra days of the same issues and lost offerings.

What they should have done was do the Bloodhunt after the new patch, where offerings were protected on a load-in failure. That was basic common sense. The fact that they chose not to do so is yet another reason I've lost confidence in the handling of this game. Which is a shame.

  • @tafner The original schedule is late summer. Given that the PTB was only testing connectivity and server loads, and Behavior stated there is still a lot of work yet to do on them and more PTB tests to do in coming months, I would realistically expect August or so.

  • The data doesn't even come close to giving a real picture. First, of all, it covered only one week of play. A very small sample. Second, it didn't break it down by ranks. Third, it didn't break it down by platform. Not all platforms are made equal as far as queue time. Fourth, it didn't give number-of-matches samples. For example, a solo player will generally queue in faster than a 4-man SWF on some platforms. So, within a 12 hour period, Solo players will generally obtain more matches than a 4-man SWF.

It was the same for their survival rates. It didn't break it down by rank, platform, or killer. What Killer and what rank is a huge factor in accurate data.

The released data doesn't mean much the way it was presented.

But the bottom line is that SWFs exist in DbD, aren't going anywhere, and due to third-party voice comms there really is nothing Behavior is willing to do to close gaps in a meaningful way. It's been three years now. If they were actually going to do something, they would have by now. So, either play DbD against SWFs, or don't play DbD. Those are the only two choices.

For me, it made DbD only an occasional side game. I'll play it here and there to run around as Myers or Freddy, but not for much else. Too many of its design choices just bring me more frustration than long-term fun, for something that should be entertainment.

  • @ClogWench Overwatch just started it with Season 16, which started in the past week or so. Paladins, though, has always done it that way.

Oh, and I agree it wouldn't be good with current DbD. But then again, I'm a huge advocate that a Ranked mode should never be the only mode. Not ever. As someone who's worked in game design, I have a lot of issues with design choices in DbD. It's why I only play it as an occasional side game. I simply cannot devote my full gaming attention to these design decisions.

  • @TreemanXD Well, yes they can. They just choose not to. Go into Heroes of the Storm or Overwatch and start throwing matches to purposefully de-rank. And once you're reported, see how long before you can't enter Ranked again. Same with many other PvP games in a Ranked mode.

They choose not to do so here because they chose to only have a Ranked mode. And a ban from Ranked here is a game ban. And given the de-ranking issue, they'd pretty much kill their own game.

And again, that comes down to very poor design decisions. Which has allowed DbD to become a game where the inmates run the asylum.

  • @TreemanXD Dead by Daylight players don't need encouragement to de-rank. It's done because there is absolutely zero punishment for it. It's a failure on the game developers.

As I said elsewhere, they created only a Ranked mode, but it's an insult to ranked modes everywhere. It's nothing but a glorified Quick Play mode.

  • Until they actually get their act together and fix a lot of outstanding issues, I'm not inclined to give them additional money. Not for new DLCs, and especially not for a Battle Pass

  • @ClogWench said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/458358#Comment_458358

Their ranked mode is closer to a quick play mode. Also can you give some examples of team games that don't allow a full team of friends? Cause it certainly isn't the norm.

@ClogWench I had to edit my post to explain that it starts at certain ranks, so keep that in mind as I answer. And that two the come to immediate mind are Paladins, which caps pre-made size depending on your rank, and Overwatch as of the current season that just started, which now caps pre-made size to 2 players starting at GM rank.

I also believe Heroes of the Storm just implemented that as well, though I will have to double check.

  • Doesn't matter if folks have more than two friends. Behavior decided to make the only mode a Ranked mode, so it's time they started treating it as such, instead of an off-the-cuff Quick Play mode.

Other games I play cap pre-made groups at 2 or 3 in Ranked mode as of certain Ranks. Got more friends than that and are at those ranks? Don't play Ranked together.

Oh . . . wait . . . the genius design on this game only has this one mode. Great job there, Behavior. Is it any wonder people call Rank here a joke?

I'm sorry, and I mean no disrespect, but the longer I play this game, the more it starts to look like a first-year game design class project that would have received a mediocre grade.

The reds were SWF. I was solo. I wonder if matchmaking sometimes only looks for one survivor to fill in the case of SWF so they get games faster or something.

@Sairek Yeah, the whole system is a complete mess.

    in Swf Comment by Kilmeran
  • @ClogWench It seems to me that when in a SWF, the matchmaker favors the lowest survivor for the matchmaker. What it should do is favor the highest. So, if the SWF are ranks 12, 10, 5, and 4, then it should seek a rank 4 (or close to it) killer, not look for Rank 12.

It certainly isn't averaging, either, because as a Rank 15 killer (I play only sporadically), I've been put against SWFs that had a rank 16 as the lowest and the others being a purple and two red rank survivors. Yeah, that went well for me.

Maybe it’s because I’m sick and barely have an energy but seriously the toxicity since the blood hunt started has exhausted my desire to hunt and just play Days Gone.

@pemberley I don't disagree. Now, the toxicity was already increasing even before the Bloodhunt. But I managed to play last night, and the crap was through the roof.

I was already considering no longer playing in the two weeks before the event. After last night, I just uninstalled this morning. Granted, I will still keep an eye on the game. Maybe the summer mid-chapter patch, and then dedicated servers, will bring some overall improvements to the game play, as well.

But as it stands right now, dealing with the toxicity on top of all the issues the game has in game play areas, it's just too much for something that is supposed to be entertainment. I'll just play my other games until Behavior gets their act together. If they ever do.

  • Because this community seems to be comprised of far too many over-grown children who only find their joy in being the biggest jerks they can be.

I decided this weekend to finally give up on the game. Which is unfortunate.

  • The game should have had a separate Quick Play and Ranked mode from the beginning. It was another sign of either poor design philosophy, or complete inexperience during development, that it didn't. The same as Behavior making a PvP game to release in 2016 and not accounting for the advantage of voice comms in their design. Especially when they later claimed that SWF was always intended.

    Boggles the mind.

  • Most people would just mute integrated voice chat the same as they do in Overwatch, Apex, and a host of other games. The only ones that would really use it are the pre-made friends groups, just as they do now via Discord.

The main issue here is that Behavior designed a PvP game, and at no point even considered the usage of voice comms, be it integrated or through third-party sites, in their design. That's the crux of the problem. And the game has issues now. Two DLCs, a free weekend with a 50% sale, and now a Bloodhunt event all barely jumped the numbers (at least on PC). The last thing they want to risk is driving more people away. So, it's too late to really change any core designs now. Lessoned learned by them, one would hope: When you design a PvP game, you absolutely have to account for voice communications and the advantages it brings to the table. Period.

At this point, I honestly believe DbD is what it is. There really isn't anything concrete they can do to account for the voice comms, now. That boat has likely sailed as the game gets ready to pass its third-year mark.

  • My eyes are bad. I already use my Nvidia features to brighten the game enough to where I can play without getting a migraine.

Darkness in a game does not equate to fear. It equates to people with bad eyes just saying to hell with it and uninstalling.

  • @Orion said:

@Kilmeran People don't have dash cams so they can upload "funny" car crashes onto YouTube. They have them for insurance purposes. Recording your own gameplay is based on the same principle, so you can stop with the ageism.

@Orion I disagree. I don't need an "insurance" reason to record my game play. And it's very much an age thing for me. At my mental age, I do not care enough about my game play to record it. I see no entertainment nor value in it. So, If a developer needs a video to do anything, then I'm better served just leaving their game.

For example, I've played Blizzard games for 25 years. Not even today, in Overwatch, do I need to make my own game play video and submit it for a report to be acted on. I know this for a fact, because I get notices when a report has been acted on. Amazing that Blizzard and other developers have adequate tech in place to handle it.

So, if a video is required here, that's fine. I will move on from DbD. They won't care, and neither will I.

  • @not_Queen You mentioned also submitting video proof. What about for those of us who don't record our games? I'm 46-years-old. I've no interest in recording my video game play and then having to delete any and all unneeded video files. I don't even have a recorder on my computer, unless it is something that just came with the Nvidia card or whatever Xbox app crap Windows 10 dumped on my system, and even then I've no idea how to activate it anyway. Nor do I care about it.

So, for us type of players, are our reports useless because we don't want to record our game play ad nauseam?

  • @Kamikaze and @Peanits Thanks guys. I've been writing for over two decades now. I love my job. 😁

  • I think I might have to skip this one, unfortunately. Working on getting the final versions of my new novel uploaded and set-up with Amazon for ebook and paperback, and then have to start on the next book this weekend.

    Ah well, maybe next time.

  • @Judith I agree with you. While I've DC'ed a couple of times simply due to something happening here at the house the required immediate attention, I've never rage quit a game in DbD yet.

  • @Vlieger To be honest, I don't think the current DC epidemic will continue too long after Dedicated Servers, when Behavior can monitor things more closely and act accordingly.

And considering they've said several times over the past month that pretty much every reaction they're considering will come along with Dedicated Servers, we're pretty much boned on DCs until then anyway.
