@JESUS_CHRIST If I wanted to SWF, the DBD Discord has it set-up for that anyway, including with pre-made voice channels for SWF groups.
-
@Atrushan88 Trust me, I completely agree with you.

You dunnit now.
If we did that, the game would need to be rated arr.
What has eight arms, eight legs, and eight eyes? Eight pirates.
What's orange and sounds like a parrot? A carrot.
What are the ten letters of the pirate alphabet? I, I, R, and the seven Cs.
Why do pirates have such a hard time learning the alphabet? Because they spend years at C.
How much do pirates pay for corn? A buccaneer.
@Peanits And now I see why your day job is at BHVR. Yeah, I keep that one. š
-
My game is bright due to settings I can adjust via my Nvidia card, anyway. Dark maps cause my eyes to strain and result in a migraine, so for people like me with the graphics cards, what BHVR does with map lighting doesn't matter.
-
@Dreamnomad Hell, it's even more than that. Know what I do with threads or posts I disagree with? I move on and don't bother replying. It's not like a debate changes most minds when it comes to social media, anyway.

Ghostface is half licensed. They only got the mask, not the character from Scream. He's an original killer who uses the Ghostface mask. Pig IS getting more outfits eventually. I don't think Myers needs an outfit. Freddy needs Robert Englund's look overall.
@Atrushan88 As far as Robert Englund, that would never happen. I've worked in licensing in the past, including regarding working on horror franchise licenses for publishers, and Robert Englund is very restrictive with his likeness and extremely expensive when he does allow it.

@NoShinyPony Yeah, but sadly zero of my friends or family play DBD, and I don't use Steam enough to have friends on it. I own precisely three games on Steam: Borderlands 2, DBD, F13. So a KYF isn't doable.
-
@semaj_leachim Yeah, I should have specified that I meant characters. This is also the only game I have played where I have zero interest in cosmetics.
-
@Boosted_Dwight Just remember that the first one is serious, the second started going the humor route, and the third one is straight up humor like the show.
-
@Boss That's fine. Given that I play a few different games, so don't main any single title, I doubt I will ever get past green ranks, anyway. Especially with the monthly resets.
Hell, right now I am back down to gray ranks on Killer because I haven't played in several months.
-
@Boss That was my thought as well lately.
-
A player can camp or tunnel with any killer.
-
@Boosted_Dwight Yeah, Plague is the only one I really regret so far.
As far as Ash, I'm just now about to finally leap into the Survivor end of the pool, but bought him the day of release. I grew-up on Evil Dead (I'm 46) and loved the Ash vs Evil Dead show. One of the few shows I actually bought the DvD seasons for, just to keep on the shelf with the three Evil Dead films.
-
Good to see a lot of other chill players in DBD. Sometimes, these forums make it feel like the players all treat DBD like they're in the Overwatch League.
-
@Milo And that screws me up. I think it's because of three years in Overwatch before really leaping into DBD (even though I've owned it a while) and knowing all the maps, routes, and ins and outs over there.
-
@ASpazNamedSteve I don't think it's a cop-out. Like I said, I've been 99% killer, and I see the flaw in that already. I was just curious if I was viewing it right. Seems that I was.
-
@Boss Amazing advice. Thanks a ton. Thematically, he's always been a favorite killer of mine. Now I just need to level him and play him.
-
Great replies everyone. Thanks for the advice!

You know, a map creator and maybe the ability to create custom game modes could be fun. I've been loving playing the workshop creations in Overwatch. Then again, I play normal Overwatch a lot less as a result, so maybe that wouldn't be good for this sized player base.
(I find the Dead by Daylight workshop mode in Overwatch to be a blast.)
-
@GrootDude Last time I played them, even though my bar was green in lobby, I always ended up with a very short delay between pressing the key and the damned needle stopping. This is on PC, and was quite annoying. It was the primary reason I stopped Survivor.
I don't know what it is, but I'll just have to adjust. Hoping dedicated servers removes whatever is causing it.
-
@GrootDude Yeah, I really need to go Survivor this month. I have like two-hours on Survivor, if that. I've been playing extremely one-sided for too long.
Hell, I'm still a Rank 20 Survivor and guarantee you that I'm going to blow skill checks. I have that little time on them so far.
Guess it's time to go take a ######### in the tall grass. š
-
@Boss That's the wise thing to do. It's what I intend to do, then it's like some weird OCD kicks in and I'm like: But I have the rest of the collection so far . . . .
Which is strange, because in my 30+ years of gaming, this is the only game that triggers that.
-
@Boss Any tips for Wraith? Always wanted to play him, but to say I suck would be insulting blowjobs everywhere.
-
@TheBean Now you sound like most of my random Overwatch teammates. š
-
@Carpemortum I don't play every killer. But I will dump BP into them since I'm not trying to rank up, so don't usually use Add-Ons and whatnot right now for those I do play. I still need Hag's teachables, and will eventually just save up 1 million BP and start dumping into her. I suck at playing her, so usually don't.
-
@Carpemortum Same here. I just can't get into Plague at all. I also can't use Nurse because the blinking for some reason makes me physically nauseous. But at least she was free.
-
@GrootDude Yes, yes we do.
-
@GrootDude Darn. PC here.
-
@GrootDude What platform?
-
@GrootDude I hear ya. I even bought Ash even though I've yet to dive into playing Survivor.
-
@GrootDude For Apex, I'm curious: Do you have regular squad mates? I tried that game in the first month, but none of my people stuck around for it and soloQ there is even worse than in Overwatch for me.
-
@CheersTC Jesus, I'd be constantly mori'ed. I didn't care much for Scream, but I was in my 20s when that franchise started. Give me Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street any day of the week (I like the SAW franchise, but never cared much for the Amanda character).
-
@LCGaster I haven't played in a little while, how is it bugged?
-
Personally, I've always felt: Display all five names openly, or hide all five names. I'm a Killer main, and feel that if I can see survivor names, they should see mine as well. Not just one sided.
-
Why would that make you a bad person? If you enjoy the game and want to play it on a different platform, then by all means do so. Only thing that matters is your enjoyment. Video games are entertainment. Do what entertains you.
-
No, no, no, and NO. I left the game during the event fiasco because playing Killer was impossible and I don't enjoy Survivor nearly as much. I play DBD to run around as my favorite horror Icons: Myers, Freddy, and Leatherface. I don't even care if survivors escape. I just like playing the Icons.
The events prevent that unless I want to play lobby simulator on my limited play time. Time to give the events a rest for a little while.
-
Unfortunately, they won't really be addressing DCs until dedicated servers, which is . . . what? . . . sometime in September?
What they should have done from the start was implement a system like Overwatch uses for leaving QP matches: after a certain number vs matches played until the end, an XP penalty kicks in. In DBD, it should have been a BP penalty. You only get about 25% to 50% of the actual BP you'd earned, for X-number of matches as a punishment.
Time-outs are easy to circumvent, just go play another game. But a BP penalty that requires that X-number of matches be played until the end to get rid of it might deter some DCing folks.
(Disclaimer: It doesn't work as intended in OW because XP just gives account levels which just gives a free lootbox, but in a game like DBD where BP is directly linked to bloodweb progression, it might carry more weight.)
-
If they want to balance for voice comms, just add in a text chat feature. What you propose in the OP sounds similar to the ping system in Apex Legends, which while it works well in that game and genre, I don't think would work as well in a game like this. Apex uses the crosshairs to aim the ping, which DBD doesn't have, which would make it too clunky to effectively use.
-
I don't even care about the emblems and rank. I just want to have a little fun and get some BP. Anything beyond that is just taking this type of game too seriously. My personal perspective is that if I want to worry about climbing a rank ever again, I'll just fire-up Overwatch competitive mode again. Or the symmetrical game of your choice.
-
@Carpemortum Peanits has even stated it. The question I have, though, is whether it's working as they intended. Given their track history, if I were a betting man, I wouldn't bet on it.

There is only one escape - uninstall. :/
If that's the case, then I am pleased to announce that I recently, truly escaped!
(I still check out the forums to see what's going on with DBD, to see if I'll eventually be inspired to reinstall, but I'm not holding my breath with BHVR).
-
@Peanits there is definitely something wrong. I decided to check out different streamers tonight to see how Killer queues were going on PC. It took some searching, but I found Killers at Rank 19, 16, 14, 12, and 7. Know what happened? I didn't get to see a single match, except the one that was in progress when I tuned in, because afterward I got bored watching them sitting in Lobby "Searching for Match." I gave them an average of 5-8 minutes and then moved on.
It's ridiculous. I was thinking of coming back and buying Ghostface, but after seeing enough of the Killer lobby streams tonight, I'm going to have to pass until you guys, maybe and eventually, sort your mess out.
-
I have nothing against Mr. Cote, but at this point I would have to say the leadership. It's time for new leadership and potentially new ideas and directions. It's the same problem I have with Overwatch nowadays: it's also time for Jeff Kaplan to be moved to a different project over there as well (like I said, nothing personal against Mr. Cote).

asymmetric not supposed to be balanced we learn something everyday. that's a god damn lie both side have to balanced. what should be unbalanced it's the 1v4 that's it. Perks/survivors/killers should be balanced and we all know that red ranks have no skill except by gen rushing.
@xllxENIGMAxllx The main problem is that Behavior has shown that they honestly can't balance for anything. And it isn't just a DBD issue. Look at Deathgarden: Bloodharvest. They did just as poorly on balance over there, and the relaunch is already dying as fast as the original launch.
-
I'm sick of these 20 minute lobbies.
@Dreamnomad I agree with you completely. I would love a QP option set-up like you described. The other issue is, the more I play the more I eventually rank-up, and I really do not want to play at the higher ranks and have to tryhard and get sweaty. I just want casual matches I can relax in, and QP would be just that. As it stands, I play for a couple of weeks, then have to shelve the game until rank reset.
That's why I play Overwatch and Paladins a hell of a lot more than DBD (and spend my money over there as well). I can just Quick Play, have fun, and leave ranked to those that give a damn about that mode. And guess what? Having QP and ranked hasn't killed Paladins at all, despite the "split the population," argument made here.
(I mentioned Paladins for that because their population isn't huge, either, whereas Overwatch is different level of beast.)

I'd never seen it until now. But if you're so sick of it, why don't you address the point?
@Orion I won't comment on his spam comment, because as you've said: You didn't see it until then. He just likes to troll and stir the pot, so ignore him. He's jailed for a reason.
That said . . . the point has been addressed ad nauseam here at the forums, the Steam forums, the reddit, et cetera for quite some time now. Killer is not the power-role in DBD. The thing is, Behavior fails to address the issue, and the onus is on them to do so.
Then again, let's look at their idea of a "killer" power-role. Take a look at Deathgarden: Bloodharvest. Hunter is definitely a power-role over there, and the game is dying just as fast as it did the first time around. They even screwed-up making Hunter the power-role.
I get that Behavior seems to want their brand to be that of an asymmetrical game developer. The problem, though, is that they honestly aren't very good at it. They claimed in an article in August 2018 that DBD sold over 4-million copies. Well, if that's true, their retention rate is absolutely abysmal.
-
@MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky A lot of game companies will disable bugged items. Blizzard has done it, Hi-Rez has done it, SOE (aka Daybreak nowadays) has done it, and so forth.
Behavior not doing it leads me to suspect that the way they've coded their game and database might not have been the best method in hindsight. I remember when SOE assumed control over Matrix Online back around 2005 from the original developer as part of the deal with Warner Bros that gave them the DC Universe MMO license. There were issues with several bugged items in MxO, and SOE was unable to disable them due to how everything was hard-coded into the database by the original studio. Matter of fact, that hard-coding gave them no end of headaches, because fixing bugs often times bugged other sections. The SOE devs were quite vocal about that situation back then.
-
@Carpemortum Different bug this time. This time the blades slow down survivor action speed. They basically are bugged and end-up cancelling out the Wake-Up action speed buff bug.
It's hilarious that unintended bugs do a better job of balancing things out in DBD than the dev team does. I swear, more and more I question why I still have this game installed. Its patches are more of a mess than a Hi-Rez game patch, and that's a feat.
-
All survivors are sacrificed on their first hook! Hey hate it or love it... you have to admit there would be no more camping or tunneling :D
@TeaLeaf Christ, could you imagine the uproar? Actually, you don't have to imagine it. Just go check out the reddit or Steam forum for Deathgarden: Bloodharvest about insta-executes. You know, the game that launched, died quickly, rose from the ashes, and is dying quickly all over again.
