I have a question about how the collapse is triggered.

Does it only start the 3 minute timer after either the hatch is closed or a gate is open?

They said the killer can open the gates or close the hatch to trigger the collapse.

This doesn't sound very good imo.

So do you slug/hope to hook near a gate?...

Would be cooler if the survivors had 3 minutes to open the gates while the killer is actually able to defend them.

Gen completion should trigger the collapse

  • the killer can not power the exit gates.

  • @Andreyu44 I didn't say that i said open the gates. Which they can do.

    No they cant do that.

It was confirmed by a dev

  • @Andreyu44 Actually, according to the newly posted Q&A found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/58159/dead-by-daylight-endgame-collapse#latest

. . . the killer can physically open the exit gates once they are powered. And exit gates are powered by either (1) completing five generators or (2) closing the hatch when it opens with one survivor left, regardless of how many generators were completed, or is opened with a skeleton key.

End Game Collapse Q&A With Guillaume Bourque

Due to the huge amount of questions received in our Q&A thread posted earlier today, we asked Guillaume Bourque some of your most frequently asked questions ahead of next week's live Q&A. There's far too many questions to go through in one sitting, so be sure to tune in next week if you don't see your question here.

Will the Left for Dead achievement/trophy be changed?

There are no plans to change the achievement at this time. A Survivor can still power the final generator before the Killer finds and closes the hatch, though the window for doing so is smaller.

Will the hatch still spawn if there's more than one survivor left?

The hatch spawning rules have not changed aside from scenarios where only one survivor remains. The hatch will spawn under the following circumstances:

    • 4 Survivors alive: Five generators must be powered. Hatch is closed.
    • 3 Survivors alive: Four generators must be powered. Hatch is closed.
    • 2 Survivors alive: Three generators must be powered. Hatch is closed.
    • 1 Survivor alive: Hatch will spawn regardless of generators completed. Hatch is open.

Will any end game perks receive changes?

Most end game perks will remain unchanged, but there will be tweaks to the following perks:

    • Remember Me
    • Left Behind

Will perks like NO One Escapes Death still activate if the End Game Collapse is triggered early?

Yes, these perks will still activate regardless of when the End Game Collapse is triggered.

What will happen to Fire Up if the end game collapse starts before all generators are powered?

You will keep the stacks you have at the time that the collapse begins, but you will not receive stacks for the rest of the generators.

If the hatch is opened with a key, can the killer close the hatch? Will this start the end game collapse?

Yes, the Killer can close the hatch if it is opened with a key, and this will trigger the End Game Collapse. The hatch can be re-opened once closed with a key.

Can the killer open the exit gates at any point in the trial, or only once the generators are powered?

The Killer can only open the gates when the generators have been powered.

How does the killer open the exit gates?

The Killer has a short interaction similar to the Survivors. This interaction is much shorter than the Survivor action and resets if it is interrupted.

    When does this go live?

These changes will first appear in the PTB starting on Tuesday April 23rd. They will be included in the mid-chapter patch on live servers at a later date.

Don't see your question here? We may be saving it for the live Q&A session next Thursday. If you haven't had a chance to ask a question yet, there's still time. If there's something you'd like to see answered, you can post it in this thread: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/58169/

"HOW DOES THE KILLER OPEN THE EXIT GATES?

The killer only can't open them before the gens are done.

    This is confusing xD

They cant power the exit gates but they can open them?

A dev said that they cant power them

  • @Andreyu44 It really isn't confusing at all.

When the hatch opens, either due to the last survivor remaining (and now no longer requiring a certain amount of generators to have been repaired) or the use of a skeleton key, the killer can close the hatch. This powers the exit gates, blocks off all remaining generators, and starts the end game collapse timer. So, the killer can power the gates by closing the hatch.

For survivors, once they complete five generators, the exit gates are powered. At that point, either the killer or survivors can then open the gates, which begins the end game collapse timer.

So, the collapse timer happens one of two ways:

Killer closes the hatch. All remaining generators are blocked by the Entity, end game collapse timer begins, and exit gates are powered; which also allows the final survivor to open them and escape.

Generators are all done and exit gates are powered. Survivor or killer can then open the gates. Either one begins the collapse timer.

    @Kilmeran

I know how the collapse works, thanks.

I just didnt understand if the killer can open the exit gates or not

  • @Andreyu44 Ah, gotcha. Well, they can. Which makes sense, since the obvious point of the end game collapse is to end being able to hold a game hostage.

  • The Killer can open the gates once they are powered.
