  • Do generators. The lives of the many outweigh the lives of the few. I'm a Bubba main, but I don't like camping. I also play survivor and I hate being camped. But if one person dies and everyone else splits up and do gens, the killer will most likely just get A kill. I know it sounds condescending, but that's just the sure fire way of beating camping. Hell, even the killer loses points for camping as well

  • So, I got one. At this point I'm new to dead by daylight, I'm playing Trapper and just kept getting demolished by swf. Well, one time. I had enough, I finally downed this runner that was giving me the hardest time, I hooked him and put a bear trap at the exit gate, not below the switch. IN. On the concrete floor, he never told his friends this news. So, I camped him, kinda hard. His friends get him with borrowed time and I chased them all out, except for the runner. He T-Bags me a bit, points, etc. But, then he steps onto the trap. I hook him, then he sends me a message.

"I hope your mother dies of cancer"

I was immediately followed by three other messages. If I look hard enough I could find it. This was before End Game was a thing obviously

  • Third is much better

Nope,I read to the part about how he has no counterplay and missed the quotion marks, sorry you can totally shame me on that.I assumed this was a thread about him needing a nerf so ,I didn't read the full thing.I apologize

I don't jump onto the band wagon for nerfing things unless it's absolutely necessary haha, I made this post because I have no idea why people dislike him. Which I can see everyone's complaints now, personally I think he's perfectly okay, but some things are understandable

  • @gilgamer said:

Tbh my biggest issue with him is his lack of terror radius, not sure who the big brain thonker at bhvr thought giving a ranged killer a smaller terror radius was a good idea and with monitor he shoot you from outside his terror radius which is just plain stupid. But I also agree that his actual lack of counter play when the killer has good aim isn't exactly fun to against in the same way that a good nurse or spirit isn't fun to go against, the difference is that most people agree that while strong Death slinger isn't OP.

All the top killers have some form of mobility and his blatant lack of it hurts him immensely, huntress at least has the possibility of cross mapping you but if he shoots you even at the max distance theirs a pretty good chance you will break out of the chain. He also doesn't have a particularly fast time to down which wouldn't be an issue if he wasn't 110 with no ability to move around the map. But still I'd say a lot of the frustration around Death slinger comes from the large amount of lose/lose situations he puts you in during chases which I'd say is fairly understandable.

Also I don't know why people always refer to youtubers and streamers like they're some sort of different species when referring to their opinions on anything like they aren't just people too. Chances are that if a streamer has an opinion they aren't alone. Sure they have a bigger base to share their opinion so it gets amplified but doesn't mean that all youtubers or streamers agree on even most things and I doubt that anybody over 16 bases all their gaming opinions on their favorite content creators opinions.

That's completely fair, maybe give him a Huntress terror radius and the addons that drop his terror radius could instead drop his Huntress Radius instead. Which I don't think isn't too strong since you move at a snail's pace. But for him just shutting up survivors could very much go to Huntress as well, since an experienced Huntress just stops people rather quickly, much faster than Deathslinger. Only difference being is that if you break from his chain, while it does hurt you, it will never drop you.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2246858#Comment_2246858

She does yes, the difference with Huntress tho is wind up time. So even then you need to learn what you're able to get away with, with not only the travel speed of hatchets but distance.

Deathslinger doesn't need to worry about that since his ADS is practically instant and when in chase you are almost always vulnerable to being shot.

Instant but with a range limit and travel time, with a considerablely long stun time as well.

I've experienced those numerous times playing as him, now I know you can say "well with a better Deathslinger, those problems become mute." But, the same can be said about Huntress, with a very heavily experienced Huntress it doesn't seem to matter if there is a wind up, they'll read you like a book and get you no matter what. I know this sounds like a huge exaggeration, nor am I trying to make it sound like your point is wrong as well.

Some dont have to practice aiming, since aiming is probably the only skill that transfers over from other games, Spirit requires game knowledge and knowing the distances of cries which is something that you need to get used to, doesnt take much time to get used to but its still a skill aquired only by playing that killer

So is Huntress strong in that regard as well? Not trying to sound condescending, but Huntress could also be thrown in as well because aiming transfers over to other games

  • @Yords said:

I don't think it is because you can't loop him, I think it is because his counterplay is boring and he has free zoning for existing. He is just very annoying at times and people don't like that. Of course, you do have those survivor players who say things like "omg op cant loop plz nerf", but even reasonable players don't like him for other reasons.

To play against deathslinger, just put things between you and him. That's it. That isn't very fun because when it comes down to it, a good deathslinger will always hit his shots with no opportunity for dodging when he can. You can't dodge his shots within a certain range because he can literally shoot faster than you can react.

That makes sense, but couldn't that also be said with Huntress, Trickster, Oni, Twins, Leatherface, and Hillbilly? You know, about countering their power by putting an obstacle in between you and them. But, those killers primarily.

  • Did you read the post out of curiosity? It wasn't to hate him, I'm just confused as to why people hate him

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Eeeh, I honestly never understood what the problem is with Slinger. I main both Huntress and Slinger, although I play the first much more. I feel way more powerful playing her than I do with Slinger, and I also get way more hate messages due to her hitboxes.

It seems to me more of a streamer/youtuber thing, as it seems this community isn't able to think by themselves.

Yeah, I agree. I like deathslinger because he has that cowboy theme that I absolutely love, but if I want to feel more powerful and spread more panic, I'd play Huntress

  • @RoboMojo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2246549#Comment_2246549

So, what you're saying is that people should just be happy that the Killer had to practice to get good? Even if the power in question is blatantly anti-fun when used well and has no reliable counter other then blocking LOS and hoping for the best? What if you're unable to block LOS? Does the Survivor just go down then? How is that fair?

How is deadhard fair? How is Spirit fair?

Deadhard gives you invincibility frames and allows you to get a 250% boost forward, allowing you to completely and by literal definition. Get a second chance, especially for free. Spirit gets ridiculous movement speeds and the ability to mind game while standing still. If she misses a swing, oh well, she still got that incredible movement speed to catch up to a survivor. Making her, besides Nurse, the queen of chasing.

Deathslinger, while his ADS is extremely fast, is all he got. Yes he can zone you, but if you... look behind you and dodge. He missed his ability and has to slow down to reload and do it again. Seriously. Look behind you, and if he shot you, he shot you. It's a lot more fair than some of the other things that's implemented. I don't see how he takes the crown for being the most ridiculous and tedious killers in existence while Spirit has that both in spades for best kill rate, while Trickster has that with the worst kill rate. He's average, that's all he is. Just a normal killer who has to rely on YOU screwing up. Or just be incredibly good at aiming, which. Huntress exists. Who can if God is willing, allow her to hit people across the map which to the community is just fine.

Now, when I mentioned Spirit, Deadhard, and Huntress with the things they do, it's powerful. But not OP, my opening opinion was just to start this discussion off

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/255079/i-noticed-a-youtube-trend-about-a-killer

Going against Deathslinger is really boring imo.

The thing that annoys me is his instant ADS,giving him the best zoning in the game.

He just zones you by existing, you never know when he's going to shoot you. You're only able to kinda guess and that's it.It's similiar to Spirit if you think about it.

The thing i enjoy as a player are interactive chases,in which everyone can outplay the other side.

This is why i love going against killers like Oni,Blight,Billy etc. but hate versing killers like Trapper,Spirit,Clown,Deathslinger etc.

I am so sorry. I read your post and I can agree with what you're saying... but your name distracted me so much lmfao

Pretty much and the same type that run in a straight line against nurse and then say she's impossible to go against.

Man, Huntress must be a hell spawn then haha

  • @Shroompy said:

Reason why people dont like going against Deathslinger is the same reason people dont like going against Spirit. If the Deathslinger knows how to aim the survivor doesnt have many options since he gets free zoning. His time to ADS is practically instant and unreactable.

I personally dont mind going against him either, but I would have fun versing some other killers

At least his has to practice aiming with though, Spirit is just fast and surprisingly a good tracker even though her power is supposed to go against her. I dunno

  • @Kirkylad said:

The problem is they can go against a certain killer numerous times and loop them and it's fine, but as soon as they go against someone that uses them well and beats them they're OP and need to be nerfed.

So they'd be the same type of person complaining if they stepped on a bear trap at the killer shack, huh?

  • No idea, but that does sound like fun. My name is the same on ps4

  • Hide in a locker?? Sorry if that sounded condescending, but... just hide in a locker. That's all you really need to counter it. It's free and right there.

I run BBQ all the time and when I don't see an aura anywhere, I think someone is by the hook and/or me. Which allows people to do gens. This is just me though.

But, seriously. Hide in a locker, it hides all auras and your own. When you get into a locker, count to 4, then get out. Or run distortion

Leave me and my Devour out of this counterforce nonsense

  • @CoalTower said:

So, I've been seeing a lot of people saying that the grind is really bad for new players. I personally haven't been a new player in a long time, so I can't really relate.

Anyways, it makes sense. There are too many perks for the grind to not be horrendous. You have at least 100 perks on both sides. These perks have three tiers. So that's at least 600 perk purchases. By doing the math that makes it exactly 600, getting all perks t3 on one killer and one survivor takes 3,000,000 bloodpoints. However, this is not taking into account everything else on the web. You have add-ons, offerings, and items for survivors. I'm too lazy to do the math on that. Anyways, it's probably around 50k bloodpoints per web. Survivors on average make 20k points per game. That's 2.5 matches for ONE web. That's insane. A new player shouldn't be expected to spend thousands of hours on this game to have a half decent build.

And so, this needs a fix. I have a feeling that lots of people are leaving the game solely because of this. I don't want this game to die just because the devs want to be stingy with bloodpoints.

    So here's my solutions:

1.) Remove perk tiers. Make perks be at their strongest the second you buy them. Make perks be 5,000 bloodpoints per purchase. That alone saves about two million bloodpoints.

2.) Double bloodpoint gain for survivor, and triple it for killer. My reasoning on this is because killers are switching to survivor more and more now. This gives incentive to play killer, as well as reduces the grind by quite a lot.

3.) Give 5,000,000 bloodpoints as a code for 3 days. As compensation to the people who bought perk tiers before they were removed.

4.) Give 1,000,000 bloodpoints to every player just starting. This allows them to get a headstart on the grind.

I think that these are the best changes, but what do you guys think? Am I being excessive? Are there better changes?

Yeah I'm in favor for this, it can get really tedious getting bloodpoints

  • Bubba my main feels really good in my eyes. Love em, Nemesis is too new so I can't decide. Deathslinger feels pretty neat as well.

    So let's go with Trapper.

Trapper: Bear traps now have a quick time Event to leave, but no greats, just like hook struggling, or snap out of it. You get skills checks that pop up, neglecting these checks INSTANTLY drop the bar down to zero.

It's still a chance as well to escape, so not guaranteed. It might be too strong, but I think it would be a nice buff for him

  • @FFirebrandd said:

Trickster: Once charged, Main Event can be activated whenever instead of only a 5s window.

While Main Event is active, Holding M1 will make Trickster throw slower but throw 3 knives at a time in a fan pattern.

One time per Main Even, hitting M2 will make Trickster do a somersault that is essentially a 5ish meter dash.

I agree with this! This would make main event a much more viable and needed thing for him. I want him to be ridiculously cocky, so having that tumble would also be great.

  • I'd just say remove the limit he gets on stalking unless he has completely crazy gimmicky addons

  • @SunderMun said:

No. They need a full rework including a massive nerf to Victor but a buff to Charlotte herself; right now, they're obscenely oppressive with no counterplay to Victor. (No, grouping up is not counterplay) The issue is that he's fast and has a gigantic hitbox, so it's so hard to miss with him and he gets around the map incredibly easily.

But if he's just straight nerfed, the killer will be terrible. I've always felt like Charlotte should have her own power separate to Victor in exchange for massively weakening the effects of Victor. Idk what they could do with her, but the entire power being Victor feels boring to me and will always be problematic.

I always had an issue playing The Twins on console, he at random intervals slid past a survivor, kinda like how Blight slid on obstacles

  • @GannTM said:

I think the Twins need a full on overhaul.

Because she's too weak? Is she weaker than Trickster in your eyes?

  • @BioX said:

nope, its fully allowed, fun right? imagine if all killers just stared using this fully allowed tactic, never hook anyone, just down them and down them and leave them to bleed out....this game would die in a heartbeat if it wasnt for the good will of the players.

And it's not gonna happen because we don't get anything from it. Now if we got rewarded for it, then maybe. But. No. And it never will happen

Yeah, my friend @QwQw is not wrong here. I absolutely despise Ghostface, and have done so ever since I played his PTB back in 2019. Every single trial against him is painful, and it doesn't even matter if I escape or not.

But hey, if you like him more power to you! As they say, to each their own.

You explained why you disliked him to me once, but I didn't quite understand. Why do you loath him again?

  • I don't have one, I've been close to breaking points from stress, but I never gave up. I will at least, try to get a single hook towards the end. I'm not gonna camp the survivor nor tunnel. As much as they ######### me over, I'll still try to be nice about it

Demo breaks pallets, Oni breaks pallets with demon fury, D-slinger can pull you around if the loop is short enough, PH attacks through the pallet, Blight breaks the pallet, Victor can pounce, Trickster shoots over it, now Nemesis can break it.

Every newish killer has had a way to circumvent the protections that pallets provide. Not saying that's an issue, just noting the case.

They still have the same amount of time, maybe like a second less. So it's not an issue

Shut up. Don't give people ideas, I have a hard time enough already.

    Please... ;~;

  • I main deathslinger, I've played a lot of Huntress, and I've certainly played Trickster.

I have not given up on Trickster, but I've needed to take large amounts of breaks because playing him in high ranks against constant swf makes me so stressed. I'm still trying him, I've done things with him. But, he's.. outclassed.

Let's take Huntress, she just shuts people down from really far away, and I've seen people actually sniper with her. She's phenomenal. It's hard to counter a person who's really accurate with her.

Now he's my boy deathslinger, you can loop me, you can out run me, you can do whatever you want. But, I'll always get my satisfaction towards the end. If I shoot you once, all I have to do is walk backwards to make it harder for you to break the chain, but even if you do, you're injured anyway with deep wound. But, if I hit you, I get my basic attack effects to proc.

    NOED

    Devour

    Sloppy Butcher

    Surge

    STBFL

    Third Seal

    Gearhead

I always get my on hit effect and if you broke the chain, feel free to cure your mending. While I also don't need to stop and reload. I can reload on the go.

Trickster. I. I.. I don't understand him, 16 stab wounds. 16 stab wounds to down a survivor, with recoil. Lord. Give him less knives and remove recoil. That's a fair trade, but freaking recoil on knife throws is crazy. But, I don't get anything special from it. Huntress gets an addon that causes HINDERED. which slows a survivor down and allows Huntress to keep up her oppression. That's just an example.

These two get more bang for their buck than our friend Trickster. 16 stabs. 16 stabs that can be shut down faster by Huntress or debuffed by Deathslinger.

Trickster does need some oomph instead of fancy tricks that get him nowhere. He's outshined by these two.
