There are no weak killers. Killrate of any killer is solid. The game is still massively kiler-sided and is balanced a lot around m1 activity. Bloodlust, a lot of dead zones, lack of good or fair pallets make game still feels good, absolutely viable and a lot of times even easy as m1 killer. Basically all this mobility, anti-loop etc are just extra and over-on-top mechanics to make killer easy and overpoweringly fun. A lot of killer crutches - camping, tunneling, 3genning aren't fixed yet. You can succeed with any killer. "Weak killer" became just a meaningless buzzword. Important to note that you have option to not play "weak" killers

Sadako was revealed to have a sliiiiightly above average kill rate last time, though. At least in top MMR. She apparently wrecked shop in overall MMR.

Sometimes perception doesn't quite line up with reality. That can make it difficulty to identify which killers need buffs, and what buffs they need.

Ah yes killrates the most accurate of measuring tools.

Maybe because I am surv main and if I can do it, so can most killers?

Also as stated before - what does it matter that first 2 gens get completed before first hook? The end result of 4k is the thing that counts. Right now killer's average kill rate is above 50%, so why should there be any need to buff killers even more (do you really need to 4k at 5 gens to feel good? Doesn't normal 3-4k suffice?)

If you're a surv main you are very likely going against babies and your killrates again mean jack #########. I also didnt say killers as a whole needed a buff, where did I ever say that? some individual killers need some love but that's not what we're talking about. Lethal as a whole is perfectly fine as it is. Decreasing its starting duration would only hurt low mobility killers which already tend to be the weaker killers.

  • I dont hate the idea but I know full well BHVR would literally never do this.

I'm not sure I'm following your point, sorry.

He is the first killer. We can't go back in time and make it Wraith. Unless you're referring to him being the onboarding killer for new players, in which case... nah, I disagree. Wraith is stronger, but you don't need strength for an onboarding killer, you need simplicity and lack of insane mechanical requirements. I'm not saying Wraith doesn't fit those criteria, but Trapper fits them more.

Nothing forces a player to not immediately buy a DLC and start playing someone else, but if they do start with the killer on the box art, the killer in the tutorial, and the killer that is listed first in their roster, they get a simple killer with an understandable power that pushes them to learn not only map awareness but also M1 chase fundamentals too. I think Trapper is a good first pick.

What else is more simple then wraith's kit? I'd 100% say trapper is a worse onboarding killer because I played wraith first then switched to trapper and wondered where would good places to place my trap were and did significantly worse because i was just walking around placing traps not actually chasing survivors.

IDK. Most of my games I have 2 hooks before first gen pops (but usually 2 gens pop at the same time) - this is most common scenario thanks to 6.1 buffs of extra 10s (but your version also happens from time to time).

Also. First 2-3 gens don't matter. I could have 0 hooks by the time first 4 gens pop - if I can comeback then (or even after all the gens pop), then it's still 4K

okay and? do you think that's even the majority of killers experience? I dont understand why you think flexing your big strong killer skills in anyways helps anyone.

  • @jesterkind said:

    Rework no, slight changes yes.

As the devs themselves pointed out in the Reddit AMA, there's a lot of value in Trapper remaining as simple and straightforward as he currently is, because he's the very first killer players have in their roster when they get the game and he's easy to pick up, mechanically speaking. Plus, there's something to be said for keeping him the way he is just as a preservation of history- though to be fair he has been changed noticeably a few times.

He definitely shouldn't get all his traps on him at the start of the match, that's a massively bad idea, but there's plenty that can be done to help him out while retaining his current identity and feel. A big one would be adjusting where his traps spawn at the start of a match, so he doesn't have to go all the way to the other side of the map to get all of his power, but they could also look at things like setting speed, trap colouration, basekit punishment for stepping in a trap while injured...

We do know he's getting a small update, at least. So, at least some of these things could be addressed sometime soonish.

Trapper is a horrible 1st killer honestly. Sure he isn't technically complex but you need a massive amount of map knowledge to actually use him effectively. Wraith is significantly better 1st killer. So that argument is kinda terrible honestly.

My issue with Wesker isn't due to his design or his balance, overall he's a great killer for all the reasons you've just listed.

My issue is that it's Wesker after Wesker after Wesker and it is so deflating

Tell BHVR to make killers that are actually fun to play

If you are depending on a perk to win, then the problem is in adjusting the game, the perk is problematic, yes, I need to use distortion in every game I play, and on top of that I need to take care of another surv that does not have the perk me to chase

I totally agree that killers need to be stronger to face SWF, but what annoys me is that all the buffs that devs give to killers is just to beat players who are already weak, look at my case, just today out of eight matches that I played, only one came out alive, the others or only one survived, or it was 4 kills

If DBD is survivor sided as you say, then I was sold the wrong game, because in the games I play, the killer wins the most

The problem isn't the "genrush meta" the problem is map design and survivors spawning on 4 different corners of a map which basically garuntees you lose 2 gens before you get 1 hook. Losing 2 gens is anything but unwinnable but it makes the rest of the match much more stressful

  • @fulltonon said:

    Tomes, achievement and emblems.

All it does is forcing killers to deny the hatch, which results in so hated slugging gameplay, what's the point of keeping it? just for suffering?

    It doesn't makes sense.

It's so obvious 3k is already a win for the killer and there shouldn't be a reason to care about hatch escapes, why are you keeping it?

The killers main objective isnt to kill 3 people its to kill 4

WHY is a killer allowed to eliminate someone from a game without ever hooking anyone else? Do you think I enjoyed this match? Do you think people who get hardcore tunneled out of the game like this enjoy the match? I didn't even get the chance to heal myself when unhooked, because guess who was coming right back to the hook... It's too easy for the killer, because they only have to deal with 1 health state of the freshly unhooked, injured survivor.

We should not be forced to run DS (which is bad perk right now), or Off the Record, just for a chance to be able to play a match for long enough. I want to run perks that I want to run.

The first unhooked survivor should be granted invulnerability (1 occurence per match) until another survivor is hooked. There is no excuse for this atrocious bullying to be allowed in game and to go unpunished. This killer fortunately sucked, so other 3 people escaped. But in most of the cases, the killer gets a 4K, because after 1 person is erased from the game, the rest of the game is EASY for the killer.

The game should not award the killer for relentlessly harassing 1 survivor. Why is this still allowed in 2023??? Hello???

I've yet to hear a viable solution to this problem that 1.hasn't already been implemented 2. wont impact normal gameplay 3. is fairly easy to do because bhvr is lazy and wont do anything major

  • Bhvr moment when their players are wishing for the end of the even

the blame is on BHVR for not actually doing anything about it. They absolutely are able to do something about it they just won’t. Whether out of laziness or whether they just don’t care, who knows? Or maybe this is the way they want their game to be a toxic, miserable dumpster fire, and therefore they don’t care. As long as people continue to be masochists who keep coming back no matter how terrible it is, they’re getting their money so they have no incentive to give a ######### .

I mostly just think they're too inept to know how to fix most of the problems in this game in a way that actually fixes the problems. Like map design has only gotten significantly worse over the years and most of the maps I like were year 1 maps. But thats why I dont really play anymore in hopes theyll fire some idiots at the top and stop firing and rehiring devs and losing all their experience and make a new mode finally. I still have some hope that this game will go in a direction that makes me actually want to play

What can the other survivor do if killer is either on top of me, or found Leon? You tell me.

Plus Leon got me up and killer just hit me as soon as my animation getting up finished.

Do you have something better to do in that case?

At that point if there are 2 down 1 dead and the other being chased you've already lost the game. You dont deserve to win at that point.

So this player is not bringing a Terrormisu offering? *Quits at loading screen*. x killer / survivor is not playing nice or is friendly? Survivor self Sacrificed at 1 hook stage, dc or slug, camp, wait 5 gens and killer open exit gate.

this event really shows peoples true colors.

Events have always brought the worst out in people. That said the blame is mostly on BHVR for not being able to actually do anything about all the unfun things that have been in the game for years

Its insane it doesnt Matter how fast ur chases when Survivors doing Gens u are going to lose whit just 1k because the Gens are way to fast

i hv so many Game where i end a chase in like 20s and still just get 1k at the end because the Gen speed is to fast if u are not Blight or Nurse ( and maybe Spirit or Wesker ) u cant hold the Gens because of the awful Map Design

Map Design is the biggest Problem of the Game but since it is impossible to Balance all Maps they need to do something about Gens

    How to fix Gen Speed

    - Nerf Toolboxes Gen Progression

    - Nerf Prove Thyself

    - maybe make a weaker Version of Corrupted Basekit

    - Buff Base Gen Regression

    - nerf MFT ( it doesnt do something about Gen Speed but it extend a Chase way to long u can hold a M1 Killer 4 ever on a Strong loop )

Plz BHVR do something against Gen Speed

U nerfed the best Gen Regression Perk because the Gen kicking Meta was unfun but didnt nerf the Gen Speed, the Healing nerf was a good Idea because it would have give Killer way much more time but sadly the nerf got reverted and Killers didnt got anything

im watching a German Streamer who plays in a 4 SwF Group and they alway escabe where the Killers just have like 4 Hooks or just 1k is this how the Game should be in High Rank ?

Gen speed itself is fine. There are some problems around it though. Map design is the biggest by far. If they shrunk a lot of maps and reduced clutter then even killers without mobility powers would be able to actually spread pressure better. Also if I'm being honest you probably just arent very good at spreading preasure. Work on managing your time better, recognizing strong tiles and keeping track of gens progress. Developing game sense to predict what gens are gonna be done next will help immensely. The game has a lot of balance issues but theres also a ton you can do yourself to improve at this game even with the lower tier killers.

  • Hate to be the one to say it but "skill issue". That said the reason you're probably running into a higher average skill level because veteran players that dont play as often are more likely to come back during events as well as people trying a little harder during event. I've been a firm believer that events are the worst times to play the game honestly

I'm not blaming my problems on anything. Just that if we were to disable a killer due to the perceived amount of fun it is to face them. Then we should do the same and disable things that are perceived to be unfun to face as killer. Only fair.

Ah yes completely equal by making it impossible to play with friends, very equal.

  • @Crowman said:

Let's disable SWF matchmaking, disable survivor perks like Adrenaline and Made for This. Since if we want to make this "fun for everyone" we should make sure both sides don't have to face things that are unfun.

The entire mo of the recent nerfs was for overused things, killers shouldn’t be exempt

They arent exempt and its still a horrible way to balance things. If you think something like Dead Hard was nerfed exclusively because of pickrates though then you are very wrong.

  • @Hawk81584 said:

Hopefully they nerf him since he’s overused, we gotta keep the meta changing. His pick rate is too high

balancing around pick rate is idiotic and is what leads to garbage like billy's engravings getting nerfed. Him having a high pickrate means other killers need more love not that he needs nerfs.

  • @Roaroftime said:

The variety is so much better now that he's kill switched it's great, I've been seeing trappers, bubba, hags, I honestly forgot there were over 20 killers and that these killers even existed because well over half of my matches are Wesker. He's way too overplayed it makes him tedious and boring it's not the killer himself tho...

It kind of highlights how bored everyone is of playing all the old killers and how poorly designed most of the newer killers are if they have to killswitch the only well designed killer in the past 2 years for there to be any variety.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Dbd matches have actually had variety this isn’t the Albert Wesker game he’s overplayed

Then they can censor anything they damn well please so long as people have the ability to not use it if they so choose. Then when it released I wanted the ability to turn it off even more with how idiotic and overzealousit is.

  • if you like his horror themes then cool, that doesnt mean he's well desinged. He's pretty okay in terms of design but I wouldn't even say top 5

  • maybe a killer that is fun to play would be a good start. Tbh though its pretty obvious that they need to stop focusing on new killers and focus on new ways to play the game instead. The same gen format has gotten really old and stale and there's only so many ways you can make unique killers around the gen defense mode.

This is true, but this just leads me to believe it would end up with a situation that irritates all parties.

Killers like Legion would fail their first use of their power, arguably the most crucial one, costing them the first gen. Meanwhile survivors running Distortion have their entire perk deleted within the first 30s/1m of the game.

    Fair

Right, but again, recognition of what?

The fact that some people just don't like it? That'd be a really weird thing to make an official comment on.

"We recognize skull merchant was below your expectations but will do our best to make sure she is the best she can be upon launching" ######### would be so damn simple. Of course then they'd have to actually deliver on that.

  • @Seraphor said:

Killer Instinct is integral to many killer powers. So no, it can't be blocked by survivors.

You would completely invalidate Legion this way. Dead killer.

It would also burn the tokens really quickly though

  • @jesterkind said:

I mean, what kind of response would they even give, though?

There's no concrete cause for offence that'd warrant responding to, like if they'd used accidentally bigoted/offensive material or something. A bunch of people just don't like it, I'm not sure what a response would even look like for a situation like that.

Even just recognition of it would help.

  • More modes, better map balancing, a content model that's not solely based on you enjoying a new killer and perks, hell maybe not having a constant influx of bugs with every update.

She still needs buffs and her condemn playstyle can be shot into the sun. I'd genuinely rather look a tthe menu then play against condemn sadako

  • @Nos37 said:

Build certification for console doesn't happen overnight. Takes anywhere from weeks to a month.

There is very little time between when the PTB ends and when the build is sent out for certification. Small changes might make it in before then, but only major game-braking things will set it back.

I'm aware, that's why I suggested they get feedback from people outside the company but trustworthy and actually knows the game really well to come in during the development phase.

I'm fine with the PTB being used to get some hype for the chapter but then there's no reason for it to be a full month out. By the time it hits live a lot of the hype will have died down already.

My issue is the facade they put up that they actually care about ptb feedback.

  • @Pulsar said:

PTB's are definitely advertisements and always have been.

However, I'd bet that most of the changes we see in the Mid-Chapter are influenced by PTB feedback.

I doubt it. They usually make some changes but they're changes that they already planned and just were ready for the ptb and at that point the ptb feedback is outdated and not very useful.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

They've said in the past that the PTB is a valuable tool for collecting feedback. Just because you don't see the changes immediately from PTB to live doesn't mean that the feedback isn't taken into consideration. A lot of the changes come later down the line.

The info would be fairly useless though. They usually already have changes ready that were planned before the ptb went live. So the feedback is already outdated. Take skull merchant, her changes were already leaked and apparently that build was finished 2 days into the ptb.

Also frankly they can say whatever they want they've made it pretty clear teams don't talk to each other enough and sometimes they just cover for other teams ######### ups

Like don't get me wrong solo queue sucks right now and has for years but you including the bit about mmr means nothing and only tells me you think it works like most mmr systems which it doesn't when over half the playerbase gets put in games with people over the matchmaking cap. Also we know all this due to data miners and what bhvr has told us themselves so I'm not guessing.

Thats because it doesn't matter I've seen otz get put in marches with survivors that bad. Like I said the MMR doesn't matter when it heavily prioritizes queue times like the current system does. Frankly you probably don't get good teammates as often as you think.

  • @dgbug said:

please, tell me. what do you find insanely unbalanced about this game? i just don't see it.

RNG plays a heavier roll in who will win the game then the skill of the actual players. Plus MMR has proven to still through people of wildly different skill levels into the same match but now people try harder for no reason.

  • I'll be honest, the second I hear "I'm high mmr" or some variation of it, I stop caring. MMR doesn't matter and is barely any measure of skill. The matchmaking cap is so low that it basically has the same meaning that "I'm a rank 1" use to have.
