Try playing the game in different ways with different perks. I like to do Insidious scares by gens that are close to being completed. I go full skill check attack build or anti-heal. Anything but gens because I don't want matches to last forever. They can finish the gens or die but I am not interacting with gens. I only want to win chases and scare them.

Try to master all killers and take the game less seriously so you can have fun with it.

I haven't taken the game seriously since 2020 and the problem. Is that I'm just not having much fun anymore. There have been many times in the past where I get frustrated with the game and it's direction, I won't lie that's still there, then I'd uninstall then come back for a new killer to try them out and get back into playing it but I'm mostly feeling complete apathy towards playing it and bhvr seeming to learn nothing and make the same mistakes over and over again only compounds this and gives me no hope for the future of the game.

Play some really mean build that'll make survivor experience really un fun but creative.

Pinhead with the Iri add on to see his own box. Hex face the darkness, thrill of the hunt, stand still be undetectable, sloppy butcher. Job is to protect the box and let the chain hunt do all the work, they'll never be allowed to heal or do bones.

Pig with face mask, rule #2, Hex plaything, pentomento, then w/e perks either doctors map or RPD. They'll have al lot more than just gens they'll have to do and they're mostly blind.

I dont really get enjoyment out of builds I know people hate. If you do go for it I don't think my way of playing is better its just not enjoyable for me if I know I'd personally hate to go against it.

dont play too much, a few games a day keeps you from being burnt out. if you're already completely burnt out, give it a break, watch videos instead of playing, that might return you some willingness to play

That's basically what I've been doing for the past 2 years honestly. I played a little more when weaker came out because he's the first killer to come out that I've enjoyed since blight.

  • @Ayamir said:

If you play too much DBD per day you might get bored because this game can be VERY frustrating and unpleasant to play sometimes.

I have 3.9k hours(PC+PS5) and there isn't much for players with that much playtime to learn I just try to "work" on my weaker killers such as Hillbilly Trickster and even Twins as I rarely play these killers and need to remove the rust

Also I am currently grinding to get my Oni to P100 and enjoying it never gets boring when playing your favorite killer that made you fall in love with the game

I don't get bored because I keep switching games modded Skyrim is still legendary Cyberpunk 2077 is finally playable after that disastrous launch back in 2020 and we're getting next gen version of Witcher 3 on December 14th.

I rarely get bored of playing certain games as I always like to switch and have variety in the games I play.

I won't tell you to just play another game or take a long break but you should try to take a very very little pause of 3/4 days of DBD then come back once the solo Q frustration is gone and hope for the best

And if you're looking for some competitive games try Overwatch 2 and make your way to top 500 got top 17 this season I was very proud after all the sweats and tears I spent on this miserable game it still has it flaws and Blizzard deserve to get all the hate they're currently getting(talking about that horrible monetization system)but gameplay wise the game is very fun since there is no more double shield like in OW1 I still miss 6v6 tho.

I also cycle through games and I dont play religiously anymore either. My current loop with dbd is launch it - look at killer roster - feel unimaginable apathy for all of them - do a challenge maybe - get bored after 1 match - look at playing survivor - don't - quit game. I don't even do this everyday either I've probably played like a total of 2 hours in the last 2 weeks.

But how does that make him "broken" as in unfair in some way for the survivor? They're arguing that they're both weak and strong, because if they weren't strong, why complain?

I'm not saying broken as in OP I'm saying broken as in bugs making him less gib to play

  • @CrowVortex said:

I mean i don't play religiously everyday, i mostly play once a week, or i'm on more during an event involving my characters. Lately been spending my time bouncing between God of War Ragnarok, Pokemon, Warframe and World of Warcraft. Don't consider it as a break, more of a Routlette of games a week.

i already do that. It doesnt help that my other games are also getting boring

  • @MikeyBoi said:

Try playing killers that take a lot of mechanical skill such as double engravings Hillbilly or Blight, even Huntress and Nurse.

I've already done that and gotten bored of the things that I liked

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    Play survivor.

Legit the worst thing to happen is you lose brain cells watching you get placed wrong in some games and your team have no clue how to play.

Dont have to deal with toxic BM or bs rng tiles etc. You actually get to use them (plus you can do other things while on a gen)

I dont really like survivor and I never really have. The only thing that makes it fun is playing with friends and most of my friends that played have long since quit

  • @LordSturm said:

If you don't want to play anymore then don't?

I have no obligation to keep you playing the game, so I don't really care if your next break is "permanent", as unlikely as that is.

Feel free to take a break, you sound very burnt out on the game, and eventually you'll feel the desire to return to it, perhaps when you hear about a new killer that interests you or something.

The problem is I want to play but nothing feels fun. Like I want to play the game but then I launch it look at the killer roster feel no interest in any of them look at the survivor button and exit the game.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3288279#Comment_3288279

They're worse to play, or they're more broken. Which is it?

Both. Take billy for example. His "rework" made him worse feeling to play and then a prime example with the new map generation bug makes him feel even worse

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    Here is a crazy concept

It's not a sin to be burned out on a game after you spend 1k hours in it

I still like playing killer cause it's still fun to me

If you find that taking a break from the game now means you won't come back to it maybe that's a sign to move on and be happy what the game offered you

I promise the devs won't be mad at you

The reson for the post is that im trying to find any last things to keep me playing. I could care less about what the devs think anymore and I know you're mostly just joking but its just sad that the game has mostly just gotten worse since I first started and im sure that's my own bias.

  • Its almost always falls into 3 categories from what i've seen -

    1.Connection or game crashes

2.IRL event that needs attending to

3.Frustration/burnout - This is the one I think is responisble for the majority of DCs. People are just so tired of playing against certain things that even the most mild inconveinience results in complete apathy or frustration. That said i cant even blame people anymore the game is possibly the most boring its ever been, not the most broken or imbalanced, just boring.

  • I mean map design as a whole is pretty awful and has only gotten worse.

  • Which is why I kinda understand why people are sick of going against him but at the same time pretty much every killer has its haters at this point.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Weeeesker

I liked wesker but even he's gotten stale. Doesnt help people constantly complain about going against him

  • @WeenieDog said:

That last bit is really the only thing meaningful, imo. You could perk roulette, but I just gradually played less and less as killer queues got higher and higher.

I just play overwatch, while also retreading the mass effect trilogy. But I still have the game installed. Every now and again, I need to scratch that killer itch.

I cant do that anymore every killer feels so boring these days, the killers I like get consistently more and more broken and worse to play and every new piece of content is getting worse and worse. I've enjoyed 2 killers in the last 2 years and i've hated every single map that has come out since asylum. The next time I uninstall its gonna be permanent.

  • Does it matter at this point? They arent gonna rework him. At best they'll change numbers and fix bugs(or make more idk).

  • @Mandy said:

Referring specifically to the current cosmetic collection that's available for purchase with Auric Cells until January 4th - these outfits will be back next year. They also won't be available for Iridescent Shards during this period, seasonal items such as this are exempt from the system of outfits being available for iri shards after the 4 week period. I do not have information on what date they will once again appear in the store (presumably this time next year), nor can I say whether they will be purchasable with shards at that time.

Thank you for explaining the what and not the why, even though the why was the more important question

  • Idk what changed in the map design team but they've never topped coal tower as the best map imo.

  • @Sava18 said:

They have not added a single balanced map since I started playing a year and a half ago. I mean not including the new map, the last map that wasn't in the survivor's favor was midwich and that map is super killer sided.

It's pretty sad that the vast majority of balanced maps are the first realms they made.

  • Pretty good, did what it needed to do, added a little something to spice up a match while also rewarding people for interacting with it. Nothing groundbreaking but solid all around.

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3251005#Comment_3251005

And under balanced conditions, I would much rather prefer to be able to pick my map (so I actively don't want proposed solution). There are multiple reasons. Maybe I play mirror meyers. Maybe I played both lery's and midwitch twice last 4 matches. Maybe I want to learn totem spawns on the newest map. Maybe I have a challenge to fall from a great height and don't want to play flat maps like wreckers or shelter woods.

Map bans would not really solve any of these.

Falling from great heights can be done on any map because of basement, killers sending themselves to maps that greatly play to their strengths is part of the problem, and sure there are multiple maps that suck but if you take out at least one of the maps you hate but rng is always gonna play a factor so it'd be far fairer to just get the map you hate most out of the pool.

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3250976#Comment_3250976

It's not offtopic to me. Because if they get balance to the game, that will probably not result in return to map offerings.

And as it stands right now, map offerings are 4x as probable to be for survivor benefit. Considering all the official stats for kill rate, I doubly don't want temporary measures that weaken already weaker role. I would agree to remove map offerings if it was balanced by something - like not showing what items will survivors bring. Or if the kill rate was swapped and survivors were escaping at 61% rate.

You basically just said "if they just fix the game its not a problem" which is definitely not on topic and even if all the maps were balanced, which will almost certainly never happen, i'd still prefer map offerings to be map bans instead of guaranteeing a map.

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3250855#Comment_3250855

It is all tied together. If gap between solo vs swf and best vs worst killer was much lower, same as difference between best and worst map, then this whole topic would not make sense. Map offerings are fine. Problem is, that it can make the game too much 1-sided. If you fix map balance problem, then you don't need to remove map offerings

Okay lets just tackle every single massive issue the game has under the topic of map offerings. I agree the large disparity between the best and the worst in the game in all aspects is to vast, but there isnt a single change that would fix that so changing little things here and there help and right now map offerings are a problem.

Otherwise theres no reason for bhvr to change or add or remove anything in the game till certain things are fixed and as much as I'd kinda like that they've already said they won't multiple times so its pointless to even talk about. We've asked for that and they said no. So regardless of how connected you think it is or isn't its still off topic and pointless to talk about here.

  • Wow its almost like one problem would be really difficult to solve and the other would be incredibly easy. Weird how that works

  • @Mandy said:

I would completely disagree with the pay to win aspect, as someone has already mentioned, the strongest killer in the game is free...and there's no denying the fact that she's the strongest.

What you're talking about is wanting to play the other characters, because you or your friend are better with them - that doesn't make something pay to win as you can still "win" without those characters. Playing the game unlocks more things, you can unlock characters/perks with shards etc as well as some cosmetics - this of course encourages gameplay, but it's definitely not about paying.

Most of the best perks in the game right now come from DLC characters, that sure you can technically get them free to play, but it would take you so long to grind for or get lucky that they show up in the store that I would 100% still consider it pay to win.

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3246990#Comment_3246990

So balance killers that nobody wants to play against. Also close the gap between swf and solo so that killers would not mind going against SWF. The idea of fine solution to the problem by hiding it under rag is not exactly good solution

Yeah again these are 2 completely different discussions. I get it some killers are just awful to go against, even if they arent that strong, and yes the difference between solo queue and swf is way to big. Those are fine convos to have but make your own thread about them.

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3245829#Comment_3245829

Oh I know about it. For example I don't care what killer it's going to be. I NEVER want to find myself on midwitch. Or shelter woods for that matter (but this one is tricky, because groaning and suffo are OK maps). What is your point though? I am not going to quit the game just because I see midwitch offering

My point was that you made it seem like this had anything to do with being able to see the killer when those are 2 completely different convos

  • Honestly most killers would probably be fine as it is even if they buffed solo queue. So I dont think they should implement anymore universal killer buffs anytime soon but instead do some specific killer buffs and reworks.

  • @deckyr said:

that's just how it works, believe it or not.

imagine that mmr goes from 0 to 1,000,000. your mmr is, for sake of conversation, 1,000,000. you've completely capped it, you can earn no more, you are at the highest possible amount of mmr. congrats!

but the game doesn't care. because the matchmaking bracket is 2,000 - 1,000,000. everyone with more than 2,000 mmr is being matched with everyone up to 1,000,000 mmr.

all that matters is that you have enough mmr to be away from the players that are new. it's not trying to put you with your own skill bracket, it's just trying to keep you away from theirs.

and one of them just got an escape that pushed their mmr to 2,001. so now they're in the big kids pool.

MMR in its current state is honestly basically the same as old red ranks so bhvr has used upwards of 2 years to get back to exactly where they started. All it's done is make people think they should play sweatier for zero reason.

  • @Tsulan said:

Or... the people that constantly suicided/disconnected dragged the mmr for every single one of their teammates down.

How does that make any sense for what OP said? Unless you're saying they as a trapper were throwing to lower their mmr?

  • It never worked to begin with.

  • Ghostface's reveal has never been consistent

  • @Gandor said:

Sure. Let's make it fair. Agreed. Also hide survivors for killer so he does not know what item he is carrying. (after all survivors don't see killer and especially don't know which addons he is using). Why should one side have something the other side does not have? :)

You know there are Mapes survivors don't wanna go to either right? Also I wouldn't mind survivors seeing the killer if I didn't know that people would just never load into a map against certain killers. I wouldn't even completely blame them but bhvr knows this and would never in a million years go through with it.

  • @CaulDrohn said:

Played two billy rounds yesterday, did not overheat once. I'm just a mediocre player with him, so no curve billy plays. But I really tried to down them with the chainsaw, failing at doing so multiple times in a row. The overheat is not Issue, seriously! The removal of charge addons hurt him WAY, WAY more.

Oh you just didn't do the thing that actually makes him good, curving. Overheat doesn't necessarily make billy much worse, it does but the bigger issue is that it made him far less fun. Plus he didn't need a nerf to his basekit his charge addons were stupid and I was totally fine with their deletion. Overheat only serves to make billy shittier to play and harder to learn.

  • @Fac_attack said:

Prolonging the game for literally no practical reasons while swiping at my slugged survivor isn't griefing? What is it then?

Not bannable and this issue is like the whole reason for the changes they tested out on the ptb with the new mori and ubreakable changes.

  • Im still holding out some hope they give people base kit kindred instead of the base kit unbreakable

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3240101#Comment_3240101

the overheat mechanic is useless for strong killer player because the killer player already knows if they can make the curve in advance in making the curve. you have to actively use your power very recklessly to overheat with billy. his power is not about trial & error like it is with hatchets.

The only purpose of overheat is to use these silly useless add-ons like pighouse gloves for 20% brutal strength and that -8 terror radius add-on.

yes but using his power recklessly is how you both learn the killer and how you haave fun with his power and both of those were gutted with his rework.

  • Oh haven't seen this discussion pop up in a few months. Well to reiterate they've never been fair and it seems bhvr is fine with this so they likely never will be fair.

  • Like how all these "counters" are themselves countered by an even decent nurse usually. No one thinks bad nurses are a problem. We all know that to people who don't play nurse or killer much nurse isn't a threat in fact she's really weak in those people's hands. Problem is the good nurses that know how to get around 95% of your counters easily and consistently.

  • @Silasy said:

I love how the devs still says overheat doesnt matter and Billy is balanced.

I know It's so irritating because if it did nothing then get rid of it he wasn't broken because of feathering he was broken at the time because of a few charge time add ons. And overheat makes him feel so much worse and wastes several addons on making it feel slightly less horrible.

  • I mean unless you have a white ward on you're gonna lose the item anyways so it's just a gesture to appeal to the other players mercy. Usually I see people do it when they have a challenge to escape and they're boned.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Exactly. If "overheat doesn't matter" then why do I consistently get very close to overheating when I don't bring a cooling add-on?

Also love how the brown overheat addon is the best one very cool.

  • Usually the only times I feel forced to tunnel is because of really bad map spawns, fractured cowshed, eyrie, garden, Springfield those kinda maps with their really strong spawns. Those maps against an even fairly decent team can be really rough to dang near impossible depending on the killer I'm playing.

  • Your own should, I don't really care about other people's but knowing your at least would hurt no one and be useful to determine how actually useful the system is. Right now it seems that in general that system is about as useful as the pip and grade system but people play sweater because they think it matters.

  • People have datamined how the system works since like week 2 of its implementation. Plus Bhvr has talked about it on their own dev streams.

How do people know how many hours someone has played? Is this something pc exclusive where you can get this data on someone?

Yeah on pc you can check someones hours through steam, granted their profiles arent private. So if someone was exceptionally good or bad I check profiles for hours if they were on steam

1 2 3 4 … 40
