  • I mean you can still use keys to have wall hacks against the killer on command and that's still pretty strong imo

Also give the person who DC'd a penalty that actually scales up to massive levels. 1 - 24 hours ain't gonna cut it for people who believe they're entitled to just ruin four other people's game because the killer happened to find them first. We need weeks, if not months. Make them some personal time and hopefully they'll begin to appreciate that playing with others online isn't free license to act like you're the only person who matters.

My problem with that is how much of an issue hackers still are. I ran into 2 on the same day recently, I'm no streamer either and yes I dc'd both games since I wasn't gonna just sit there and be their punching bag. I reported them and moved on and if the game was you're way I'd probably still be unable to play.

I know bhvr says their doing what they can but they've let me down before and I have little trust in them.

Oh yeah also the game isn't the most stable game ever made either and I've crashed or disconnected many times in the past through no fault of my own.

  • I dont really care one way or the other tbh. I do wish there was some kind of way to look at console and other platform profiles as well though.

  • Idk I've basically only ever seen it as 100% and that's it

I just went against a camping pig at start of match 5 Gens face camping I asked him why he said we shouldn't bring flashlights in the lobby I then looked at his build he had light born on Franklin's starstruck the killer should not be able to change perks when in the lobby with the survivors that's unfair

If you want killers to just dodge when they see 2 or more items then sure what a good change that'll be. Also it'd only be fair for survivors to not be able to swap items or perks once you're in a lobby either.

  • If it's got blocks in the name or have anonymous mode on I tend to dip

  • I'd like to see RPD and garden thrown in the trash

  • Its unfortunate cause at this point it's damned if you do damned if you don't. I've never liked the DC penalty system but now every time they are forced to turn it off because of some bug then the DCs are a million times worse than it was before and you get at least one basically every game. Now with cheaters as prevalent as they are, it only exacerbated

  • Lack of map mobility or slowdown and high amounts of counterplay on many maps. Some maps make his power basically useless, like eyrie of crows with all the random hitboxes everywhere

  • @Mister_xD said:

Man isn't it great that we have this mandatory chat filter that butchers every 2nd innocent sentence and is impossible to turn off manually in the options?

BHVR have truly outdone themselves here, this is the single greatest mandatory addition to the game ever :)

    /s

I sure do love not being able to say even just the names of some survivors or completely innocuous words without it turning into a string of hashtags that make it look like I actually used slurs now. #VERYCOOL

  • I personally agree but it is a subjective matter. However, how anyone could enjoy his chase music is beyond me

  • How BHVR hasn't responded to any of the criticism of their filter is astounding to me, I wonder how long they can stick their heads in the sand about it. Probably a while since there are admittedly more pressing matters like cheaters and game balance but they were the ones who wasted their time and effort on the thing in the first place and didn't even consider making it a toggle.

  • I haven't played him much but I think he's cool but using his power in loops properly would take me a while to adjust to and I think other killers are rewarded more for the time to get good at them. I also think his teleport is too slow when not in nightfall. The last thing is that I think it takes too little time for survivors to lock lockers, I just don't think he's strong enough to have such easy counterplay.

I will never understand censorship on game chats. If someone wants to say an offensive word, just let it happen, if it's reportable people will do it and they will get the person banned. It's stupid to limit communication and language on game chats especially in games with mature ratings.

tbf the report system in this game is pretty terrible

  • @Usernameforderek said:

Why do you care? Say "gg" and move on. You really want to have a conversation in end game chat? Why? 99 times out of 100, if anyone says anything more than "gg" it's just to complain and insult people.

if all you want to do is say gg and move on then more power to you but sometimes a friendly chat or banter is fun.

Whoever the person writing the encounter wants to win.

They're fictional characters, with fictional abilities, and would by necessity have to fight in a fictional environment.

As a result every possible factor that could contribute to determining who comes out the victor of a fight would be dependent on the person writing said fight.

It's not impossible to write a believable fictional fight where Dwight manages to defeat Oni or Nemesis or whoever else.

And because these characters are works of fiction, various interpretations are pretty much equal. I could simply say "Oni attacks Nemesis and with a single well placed blow cleaves his skull" and be equally as correct as someone who goes super in-depth trying to quantify the various abilities and strengths of the two characters.

One story might be more fun, or more popular than another, but that wouldn't make any given story intrinsically more valid than any other story.

If 50 people a lie, it isn't any more true than a lie believed by 1 person.

Personally I say Nemesis would easily win. He can survive a direct hit with a rocket launcher and shrugs off a car driving into him. What the heck could Kazan possibly do with a katana or kanabo that would ever hurt him?

But my statement can't keep someone who wants Oni to win from believing or inventing a scenario in which everyone's favourite angry tongue-grabbing Japanese great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandpa manages to win.

Nor is my interpretation any more valid than their's.

TL;DR : Fiction is fiction. There's no way to know, no way to prove, and no way to test.

So trying to guess what would 'really happen' is a moot point.

Ahh the stan lee approach, mostly the camp I fall into as well

  • I think the smarter, albeit harder path, would just be to recognize the vast disparity between the best and worst addons and reign the high end in some, especially on stronger killers(looking at you alch ring), and maybe even bump some of the weaker addons up a little, like maps and like half of billy's addons

  • I've come to the conclusion that the actual objective(or generally agreed upon) strength of a killer is somewhat irrelevant to the win/kill rates. I think how map dependant and ease of use matter as much or more. Take Legion as a prime example they aren't very strong when up against better players who know how to counter him, however, it takes some teamwork to properly do so and they aren't overly hindered or countered by the map. They are also extremely easy to use with a pretty low skill floor and ceiling. Yet despite their large weaknesses and relatively low strength they consistently have very high kill rates since teams that lack coordination due to lack of experience or communication

This is just my own speculation based on anecdotal evidence, and general kill rates though so if you see some flaws in my logic feel free to discuss it with me

Why is this censor so draconian? Absolutely no clue, but it's terribly designed tbh and lets through actual swear words while blurring out 'gg yun-jin you did well' to '## ####### you did ####'.

I think we'd all be fine if the censor only censored slurs or things of that nature. If nothing else I wish there was an option to turn it off

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/349099/stadia-shutting-down

Hacker accounts? On Stadia? Do you know how Stadia works?

Also, nobody's losing any progress since Stadia is the one platform that has cross-progression with Steam. The really bad thing about this is that I no longer have a way to play DBD.

I'm a Linux user. My computer ran DBD fine when I was dual-booting Windows, but Windows kept becoming a security risk. The only game that didn't run on Windows anymore was DBD due to EAC, so when BHVR announced that DBD was getting Proton support, I went ahead and deleted my Windows partition in anticipation. That was... what, a year ago? And according to Mandy, we shouldn't get out hopes up anytime soon.

Stadia wasn't so bad. For game streaming, it was blazing fast. I've been averaging an 80% kill rate. A few games on GeForce Now (where input lag is much more severe) and I'm lucky to get 1-2K because I can't hit #########.

I faithfully buy all the DLCs and every rift. I try not to get mad and blame the developers like half the people on this forum every time a minor update doesn't go my way. I've poured thousands of hours of my life into this game, and now I'm not going to get to play it anymore after January.

If it ever gets Proton support, I'll be back, but until then, there are other games to play. VHS is fun, but inferior. White Noise 2 and Horror Legends are awesome, but they don't have a sizable playerbase. Evil Dead was amazing, but they added EAC recently, and now I can't play that game despite buying it for full price on release date (hopefully we get Proton support when the Steam version drops next year).

VHS isn't as great (it's goofy and the killer designs are uninspired), but at least they already support Proton, and it has a playerbase. Reinstalling it now.

It wasn't. It was a good product, better than competitors', but they fumbled absolutely everything in the early stages of the project's release.

The silver lining is that it looks like we will. Their terms are pretty generous; we can keep the hardware, and everything other than the monthly subscription is being refunded.

But they did design them in a vacuum... they did hand design some of what's in the map but not where they are placed (at least I hope not)

Some maps have to much RNG and other have to little RNG (they need to come up with the middle)

Like they designed the long walls, LT walls, Junk loops (if you know what I mean)... but not where they are placed

The rest is up to the algorithm to RNG it up

They did design them to spawn in certain places wth are you talking about? The RNG is just a mix-and-match of tile spots with some windows being open or not. The algorithm determines the weight of each tile and then determines which tiles go where. Also those arent what im talking about. The algorithm for that stuff is messed up to I don't disagree with you on that however, I was pointing out that there are a lot of permanent structures on certain maps that also need to be looked at

  • She really needs a rework

  • Cause words hurty apparently. Like I get censoring slurs but other than that I don't see a reason for a censor in a rated M game. Plus the censor in this game is god awful possibly the worst I've ever seen.

  • I wish more stealth builds were viable

  • the real reason its survivor sided is that only 1 killer in the game can tbag.

  • a good nurse with range addons and lethal will be the best shot at it, survivors spawn willing at least since if they spawn all spread out no killer in the game will be able to do it quickly.

  • Sadge for the like six people who used it hope they get their money back

  • I've always seen it as a side grade tbh both have problems and I don't think its gotten any better

  • @RaSavage42 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3212962#Comment_3212962

So you think someone at BHVR made those?

I doubt it... there are some things that the algorithm do to main structure... plus if they do something to the algorithm then those structures will change

Some of them have a small element of rng to them like in the house of pain has rng on the window and destructible wall placement but yes someone at bhvr did make the maps, not sure if that's what you meant to say. Those maps weren't made in a vacuum.

  • @RaSavage42 said:

So it's the algorithm that is the issue then

If BHVR does adjust things for the algorithm and it works then good for them... But size of the Maps will also come into question

It's more than just the algorithm tbh. There are a ton of structures that are guaranteed to be insanely strong. House of pain, Eyrie main building, Dead dogs saloon, asylum main building, RPD's main room, The game's cctv room. All those are guaranteed and most on already strong maps

  • It's a neat idea if you don't bring it past the conceptual stage after that it just becomes annoying and stupid which what it's been since release.

I dont suggest anything, just finding really interesting that there are still players who want to play the prey, with close to 0% chance to win.

Strange, well at least killer mains can still feel extremely powerful as long as there are players who love to lose all the time

    Actually it's around 39%

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3189401#Comment_3189401

If you put 61% on one side of a balance, and 39% on the other what happens? I don't think that's what something that is "balanced" is supposed to look like.

You have to remember it is far, FAR easier to give up as a survivor and that skews the data. Also gotta remember the game is far more killer balanced at the earlier levels which is why blanket kill rates mean almost nothing in terms of how balanced the game feels right now.

  • @Lochnload_exe said:

I havent ever been ddosed and I didn't even know it was an issue, that is probably why it isn't being talked about.

It's a known issue. If you keep up with the bigger dbd content creators you'd know since they've had to switch to using a VPN because of this problem.

BHVR said they had fixed this then apparently just never did and hackers found out about it and started ddosing streamers again.

We also only know about this cause some people talked with one of the bigger hack creators or someone who works on it and they told them because ddosing hurts their bottom line since people steam sniping and messing with streamers with their tools is there biggest incomes. So they want bhvr to do something about it too.

  • I feel like there are completely reasonable things to dc over. There are also a lot of stupid things that people dc or throw matches over. I don't dc ever once I'm in a match cause killer queues are just long enough to where it feels like such a waste of time and I'm good enough at the game that even pretty good survivors can't hold the game hostage against me even if I'm doing terrible.

However watching streams and seeing people get 4 man slugged on the ground and not hooking by a nurse for no other reason then to BM just makes me wish they never implemented the system

  • @Kasamsky said:

I just think you should lose stacks with M2 attacks too.

If you make it also reduce the cooldown of M2's then sure. Otherwise you're being punished for using something that isn't even effected by the perk.

yea? and yes i do report when i can but sometimes if u forget and remember later after so many games, its pretty much impossible to find the name

Hmm? Yeah idk I thought there was an issue with anonymous on other clients being unable to report which is why they weren't supposed to launch on anything but the steam client but maybe that bug is a problem on there too.

  • @Dead_Harder said:

''that would be too much of an intrusion into the killer's game.''

This means nothing. Its just buzzwords.

I think what he means to say is that bhvr doesn't seem capable to create an effective anti-tunnel/camping mechanic that isn't massively exploitable

  • @PapiFelixPSN said:

I agree. Everyone should be jumping for joy at this patch, because the changes themselves don't even matter. The fact that they're willing to make changes this quickly, as well as the fact that they're doing perk changes more frequently, is absolutely amazing.

True but if they continue to make changes like this then it's not a good sign even if the turnaround is good.

  • @Anti051 said:

    Have to agree,

This change makes zero objective sense, who made this call?

I have some solid guesses but I'm not trying to get banned.

  • My problem with the thana nerf is that's completely useless on killers other than legion, even on plague I don't think it's gonna be useable and certainly not best in slot for her.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

Seeing as there is plenty of complaining, arguing, sarcasm and just general angst, I figure that we can try to be a bit more constructive and spitball ideas in hopes of improving the game. Please don't ask for nerfs for killers, this is just for giving solo some better quality of life.

    1. DS should be base-kit, go back to a 5 second stun and proc after both unhooks.
    2. Visual indicators of what perks teammates have. For example, I would like to run head on to help teammates during a chase. The problem is they have no way to know what I have planned and would think I'm just hiding. Perks should allow teammates to know whats up. So for head on, upon entering a locker, the doors will highlight or glow white to indicate that it's active, allowing players to have some better coordination that swfs have. Borrowed Time could let the perk holder have a blue aura as they get in range of the hook so everyone knows to let them do the unhook. These visual "buffs" would only be visible to survivors and killers should not be able to see them. I know it would be a lot of work, but the devs should really go over all the perks and see which ones would work best with indicators.
    3. Action icons. They said they were working on them and in typical Behaviour fashion, they put it on the back burner. This is ridiculous. While solo will never be on par with swf, they should get access to as much information that swf has. People will argue that buffing solo will buff swf, but this would do nothing with swf since they're already on coms and make call outs. Solo players are just as important as the other players and this habit of letting players suffer imbalances for extended periods of time needs to stop (remember how long it took them to nerf keys after they butchered moris (though they needed to be)).
    4. Cleansing totems and opening chest speeds should be reduced by 30 percent. Seeing as how the main objectives are longer and killers have ways to slow them down even more, one can argue that the side objectives don't need to be as long as they are. I would think that killers would rather have survivors off of gens for a short time cleansing some bones or looking for a broken key instead of have them power through gens. This would encourage them to do so.
    5. While I would like this to be a thing, it may be too strong, but I'd like some form of Kindred to be basekit. They can water it down like they did with the basekit BT and make it last 10 seconds or just stop showing the killers aura after 5 seconds.
    6. Harsher DC penalties. One of the most frustrating things for me is when I'm about 80% done with my first gen and all of a sudden a teammate DC's the moment they get downed. It's basically a loss after that because the game gets much easier for the killer. Some would argue that they shouldn't be forced to play a game they're not having fun with, and I would agree, which is why they should go play something other than DBD if they can't handle loss. It should be an hour ban after the first two or three DCs. The game should track all the serial dcers and just have match making start grouping them up all together.
    7. Basekit map marker. The glass bead add-on is a slept on tool that many people don't know exists. I've started using it to attract survivors to central gens in hopes of preventing a three-gen in endgame. While I found it funny when teammates would come and stare at it, twerk while standing in it, or point at it, I found it sad that they didn't know what it was. Good thing was they all eventually got the hint and started working on the gens I set it next to.
    8. Delete RpD.
    9. Nuke Poo Poo Bird Lady. Replace her with this

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VNY6C5XZ416R/crow.jpg

2,3,5, and 8 I think would be great additions and honestly should have been implemented years ago especially the action indicators. I really don't know how hard a few icons and a system that registers what you're doing and displays the proper icon could be but I'm no game dev so could be harder than I would think. RCPD also definitely needs to go and I'm annoyed they're making another indoor map which is, in my eyes, a notoriously bad map type.

Base kit DS, especially with the old stun, would be far too powerful of an effect to be base kit, they really only need to revert the stun nerf and it'd be fine.

DC penalties also don't even prevent people from quitting so making them more severe just means people will kill themselves on first even more often, arguable whether this is positive or negative for the rest of the team.

The map markers, if left in its current form, would do almost nothing and are just kinda annoying to me but idk they might help. Pinging in VHS works really well so maybe it would work fine in DBD but I'd hope they take the awful noise away from it when you are up close.

Bird lady isnt a killer I feel strongly one way or the other playing as or against her but I know a lot of people find her annoying so maybe a rework is in order but reworks tend to just piss off the people who liked them and now hate them or make them more frustrating/annoying to play against, or in the case of clown barely make any difference at all.

  • Well, the changes will absolutely go through, BHVR has a pretty slow turnaround with balance changes after they've touched on a perk more than 2 patches in a row, and I find it very concerning. the mid-chapter gave me the impression that BHVR was finally getting out of their old way of balancing, just nerfing popular things in ways that don't really matter and leaving the meta in basically the same state. These changes just feel weird and unjustified for the most part. Unfortunately

  • You might just be burnt out you know. 9k hours is an absurd amount of hours for a game that basically never changes its main gameplay loop.

  • @tendyhands said:

I bet if every killer tunneled they would fix it. The problem is right now only 1/3 do so BHVR doesn't think there's a problem. If every killer started tunneling they would finally realize it's a stupid tactic they need to get rid of.

But tunneling and camping are boring as #########
