Wanna say first off sorry if me dropping two idea posts for 2 low tier killers in a row is kinda annoying. I came up with these ideas during a discussion with friends and wanna see what the community thinks.

Now pig isn’t the strongest killer in the game not even close. However she does have arguably one of the most problematic addon combinations in the game. That being tampered timer and crate of gears. With these addons together there is a chance that even if the survivor does nothing besides searching boxes they won’t have time to search the final box and die anyway due to bad rng. Now I really don’t like that even if the odds aren’t exactly high so my idea was first a nerf to tampered timer. I would change it from a reduction of 30 seconds to either 10 or 15 seconds. In exchange I would buff pigs basekit so if a survivor with an active bear trap does a gen, totem, heals another person/themselves, etc. the bear trap timer speed increases by somewhere between 40-60% not sure on specifics. This would be to make it so tampered timer crate of gears isn’t just death if you’re focused on traps like you should be. But in return makes the trap itself much more threatening and adds a lot of risk to not focusing on the trap

So, I get what you mean. But, that ultimately be a bad idea for a number reasons, but I'll tackle those one at a time.

Her traps, which are really strong, are also limited and RNG based. You can get lucky and get it off instantly or get unlucky and search every single box only to then get it off. Tampered timer is powerful, but it's two minutes. Two minutes that allows you to get the trap off which again is extremely limited. Their initial design isn't to kill, it's to apply gen pressure which ultimately does a very good job at it. Nerfing the time is... I guess fine? It's still keeping you busy, which it does well. Again, main purpose. But the percentile option you're adding with the exchange can turn this gen stopper in a slaughter machine. It may not seem like it on paper, but a trap is 2 minutes 30 seconds base, tampered removes 30. Now with your system in play, tampered removes 15 so 2 minutes and 15 seconds, and let's say a Pig started slugging. So you're trotting along and you see a person downed, you run up to them and heal them to keep your game going. No one else is able to, and now you lost 40 to 60%, in your defense, you said sped up, not removed. But, they're being heavily punished for doing one simple action.

    "Game Over."

The traps are fine by themselves, it seems powerful, but the killer is praying for luck to help them, it's not confirmed kills like unlimited tier 3 mori Myers. I went through the same complaints until I played her and went up against her.

yeah I’m aware of what old bubba was like and I feel like he’s gotten what he deserves. I’m mostly just throwing out an idea I had with friends to see what people think

I get that, but he feels pretty smooth now honestly. Loops suck, but they're the kind where you gotta pick em or suffer

  • Bubba should be able to eat survivors. I'm kidding, but he feels amazing, he's balanced. Were you around with old leatherface? He was bad, and two of his chili addons didn't work. I genuinely think he's a perfect spot, loops in general are always an issue with Killers.

This is the best site that can show you your DBD statistics if you're interested in that. For deathslinger I just change the perfect games section in top right corner into survivors downed while speared which shows players who have the most downs using slinger's power across all steam players.

I'm usually around stop 20 which is pretty good I might say for playing quite casually.

    Is this just for pc?

  • @Kebek said:

I hardcore main him since his release and have one of the highest survivors speared downed according to DBD leaderboards. I can safely say that if you play him a lot and constantly improve your gameplay, he's worth learning as you'll be able to beat really good survivor teams as long as you play optimally.

My main tip is very plain but it's the most important one. Play a lot of sliger and understand how his mechanics works, which tiles you can get downs over and which you can't. Very many people don't understand just how many tiles can deathslinger outplay if he plays his cards right.

In terms of perks, you can run anything you feel suits you. I've been playing with Surge, I'm all ears, whispers and 4th perk of choice and I'm doing just fine, you aren't dependant on any specific perk setup.

Another tip is you might want to consider watching how some slinger mains play as you'll learn a lot about special trick shots or how to properly reel people around pallets which is something you need to see to understand properly.

Wait, how did you know you're the top of the leader board, what leader board?

  • This is gonna sound extremely dumb. But, I run Surge. He has the option of putting survivors right where he wants them so you can get it to work a lot of the times.

Save the Best for Last is an amazing choice on him

    Barbecue is another good one

Pop just for that extra gen damage. You can replace it with surveillance instead since surge is up there, but I absolutely loved having Pop and Surge on. It actually came into play a lot for me

If Matchmaking always matched 4 expert Survivors vs 1 expert Killer I might agree with you. It only very rarely does that though. Which is why Expert is Killer sided.

On consoles it does, not sure about PC however. Might be a different story, I always get paired with expert survivors

  • @FFirebrandd said:

I've posted this before, but this is the exact same question... so here we go.

It is both depending on the skill levels involved.

Beginner? Killer sided. Their goals are much more intuitive than Survivor goals.

Intermediate? Survivor sided. Survivors have more ways to get better at the game initially than Killers do and have more ready access to good perks.

Expert? Killer sided. Once the Killer starts to learn to mind game, single out the weak link(s) of a team, and gets good perks... well they start doing very well. Very very well. Which is how Killer streamers are able to do very large 4k streaks. Also it is very rare to even get 4 expert Survivors on a single team through matchmaking.

Pro? Survivor sided. Even the best killers rarely defeat pro Survivors on comms.

Expert feels more like a 50/50, but I do get what you mean. A good survivor is able to bait out swings and mind game back as well.

  • Depends really. Maps, offerings, and builds factor in this. But, I'm assuming you mean base.

I'd say closely neutral with swf survivors quickly following behind.

  • I mainly joke about being gen rushed when a gen or two gets done while I'm busy. I do get a tad upset when a bunch are done in extremely quick succession. But, that's now gens, which I think is fair. I like how they are done

  • Screenshot_20210518-222950_Chrome.jpg

So I reiterate, it's getting to that point where it's one or the other. Even behavior said themselves "perks that have the highest pick rate might be tweaked for balance reasons" Such as Ruin and Balance Landing. God forbid they do the same to dead hard, but if they do nerf it, I'd say one of those has to go. Hopefully that doesn't happen

  • @indieeden7 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2198086#Comment_2198086

It doesn't matter if you don't make it obvious, once the killer knows you have Head On, they won't get close enough to lockers for you to use it, they'll just bait it out.

As someone who uses this perk all the time, all I can say is map out your areas and choose the right moments to use it. There are a good number of lockers next to small corridors or ideal openings for the killer. It's a surprise tool, not a spam tool. You gotta make the killer temporarily forget about it, if they're not doing anything in the moment, of course they'll remember about head on, but if they're in a middle of something extremely important, you got your chance. Head on is a mind game.

  • @landromat said:

I think killer has something like PH cages. That's all

    I'll die of happiness

  • Head on isn't bad. I'm not saying you are, but the main thing is not be extremely obvious about it. I can tell you how many times I avoided a Head on because I expected it. What you gotta do is surprise the killer. I'd say it's more of a teamwork perk, I helped saved other survivors with the perk because it distracted the killer.

  • @gatsby said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2198012#Comment_2198012

Head On and Balanced Landing are the worst, most niche exhaustion perks.

That's the point. An exhaustion perk shouldn't be over tweaked to gain an incredible leverage over the opponent. Sprint burst is strong, but in the correct sense. Dead hard has both invincibility frames and distance. Honestly, there should only be one or the other. Not two. That's why there is a good amount of complaints for it, you don't have to do anything specific to warrant this ability, you just get a free second chance.

  • I'm gonna say it.

    Blight.

Now his power isn't bad, I enjoy using it myself and if you're good you can shut down chases fast.

But the reason why I say this is because this man who pretty much is the most important killer in dad's history... is just a gloried pin ball. I was under the impression that he would experiment on survivors, debuffing them horrendous or be a glorified monster who would rival that of Demogorgon. But instead we have this self centered genius who bonks himself in walls repeatedly who at this point lost his intelligence. If his lore didn't come out on Halloween 2018 & 2019. I wouldn't care, if he came out just on 2020, I'd just shrug it off. But, it's the lore that enthralled me, I feel so let down.

I want to repeat, his power isn't bad, it's just... why him?

  • @Thr_ust said:

It’s gotta be the doctor for me. I always wondered if he was always rotten or if it was just a case of people reinforcing his bad habits. But after reading his rift dude is straight up evil to his core

  • @SirCracken said:

    Retroactively changed.

The entity used to turn survivors into killers when their hope of escaping completely ran out. Now they get dumped into the void for no reason.

Blight used to a victim of his desire for power which lead him into willingly becoming a killer to sate his addiction to serum. Now he was unwillingly turned into a killer when he tried to escape.

Nurse used to have murdered all of the patients in the asylum because her mind had snapped after spending so much time near the insane. Now she decided to kill everyone because of, and I'm not kidding, eugenics.

These and so many more arbitrary story changes have done nothing but made the lore of dbd cheap and less engaging. "Modern" writing styles need to die screaming.

A few of those I can explain, the Nurse one however... yeah. You got me there. That's a pretty questionable writing decision there.

For the survivors turned killer portion. That's still a thing, but it just hasn't been focused on. A survivor who's been pushed through and through, becoming more and more hopeless wouldn't be good for the entity and would dispose of it. I actually prefer this explanation more, it ties in with...some unfortunately real life circumstances that I don't want to get into. But, they're husks that serve no purpose. However, a survivor that is tired of being tortured and wishes the inflict the torture onto others might recieve the Entity's blessings. If you're proving that is. Again, you were tortured right off the bat, so the Entity would be rather hesitant on making that decision, it'd want to see you grow your hatred more into something it can actually use.

Blight's lore. I don't think that was retconned at all. I thought his was rather explained well. When he arrived to the realm of the he was a survivor who's goal was to escape, which his fascination with the pustule flowers comes into play. He devotee his time in experimenting on killers and himself in the hopes to over throw the entity. But instead, it became a symbolic representation of addiction, just like he was in the opium den. When he was banished, he started to withdraw horrendously, but believed he was so close to cracking the key. Talbot made a promise, survivor nor killer would stand in his way anymore. (I botched the wording on that one) The Entity took interest and took him in. Yeah, it definitely seems rather odd

  • It seems so jarring. I don't believe that's how many solo ques there are, there is always a constant complaint about solo and killers getting screwed over by swf

  • @Kebek said:

My favorite area of the lore revolves around Legion and how Jeff painted their mural, they disappeared, and then years later he also disappeared. There's lots of fanfic of the legion members coming across jeff and freaking out that so much time has passed

I will admit that it is nice, I'm glad they're the first orginal characters who met each other before

  • For killers. I've been thinking about it. There were a lot of great and heart wrenching stories. But, I want to say Hillbilly. He never got the chance to be a kid and grow up. He was abused by his parents which eventually made him snap into this sociopath.

Survivors. God. I feel bad for all of them. Except Yun-Jin (I hate her, but I'm happy that the developers added a monster to the Survivor casts. Not everyone is good hearted) but for the one I want to help the most.... I'd say. Jeff or Meg, I'm so stuck between these two and I can't seem to decide. Meg is trying to help her mother and Jeff just kept getting shafted over at that small little town he grew up in. I wanna say.. Meg more, but honestly it's just such a tie it's hard for me to choose

I'm so happy. I'm an Ace main, but I can't argue with greatness when I see it. I just hope Ace gets something like that someday. (Kinda had something similar in the Rift and I missed it which makes me royally upset haha)

  • @Kebek said:

For me the coolest lore is PH's. It's hinted that he's literally in Entity's realm to punish her via starving her of emotion which is the only way to hurt the entity we know of.

He's making holes into her realm through the torment trails, allowing power of Silent hill seep through to let him use the cages and final judgement so that entity doesn't get as much nourishment from the trials.

I'm so glad I wanted the video by Pixel bush entertainment which analysed PH's lore in DBD, making me realise how fitting and elaborate it is.

I.. I'm both lost and super entertained. Did the Entity see PH and thought "It would make for a fine servant" but, then accidentally released a parasite on to itself which it now can't seem to be rid of or? You'd think the Entity would be strong enough to kick PH out

  • Don't play with my heart strings. I'm not ready.

I have really bad memories related to Ghostface to the point where playing against him is still really difficult for me. It's better than it was 6 months ago but it's really, really challenging and pretty damaging for my mental health.

I get that, i used to hate playing Ghostface. It was the worst, but after playing him for a while and going up against him some more I've gotten used to him

  • @SirCracken said:

    God. Where to even begin?

The lore of the entity before it was retconned, the lore of Blight before it was retconned, the lore of Nurse before it was retconned.

Basically the lore as it was before the writers decided to go full Marvel and re-write everything not realising that less is more.

    What do you mean retconned?

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2191466#Comment_2191466

Sure, I'll elaborate. Be sure to quote people, they don't get a notification otherwise.

The mere fact that you complained about flashlights and said they were OP indicates you are a relatively new player, as most experienced players know how to deal with flashlight squads.

Most Survivors are Solo, per the last stats graphic we got.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8APECFXYWT3A/cpidc1xe8jbt.jpg

And the cringe is "Every time I get hit, I feel like I really [BAD WORD] it up on my end, because I had every advantage." This statement alone makes it clear that you haven't played very long, which isn't necessarily a problem.

Have you considered that your experience, or lack thereof, could be tampering with your view of the game and it's balance?

Wait. That's an actual statistic? I hate to say it, but I'm very skeptical. Not saying you did anything or are lying. Something feels odd

  • I kinda wish her ability looked more magical instead of vomit. For me she was extremely disgusting to play (I know that made me sound so picky) but, her lore made me want to play as her so badly

  • May I make several suggestions?

    Warning. Bias.

Leatherface, which is unfortunately extremely difficult, but I love Behavior for being able to give my boy an outfit.

Deathslinger, holy yikes. I never thought I'd have such a spark with a killer.

Plague. I want to love her. Her story was amazing and it makes me want to play as her so badly. I'd love something extremely nice and regal. And more importantly. Foot wear. I understand why a lot of her outfits don't have any since her lore, but she looks like she needs some.

But, if we're only allowed to pick one.

    I'd say Plague.

  • @WeenieDog said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2193672#Comment_2193672

Thing is... I kind of don't disagree with them entirely. Forever build are dumb. I don't like that survivors can pull out second chance perks one right after the other, and I think killers should be held to the same standard.

but what to do? IDK, maybe that perks point system would work.

I.. I know this reply will sound rather biased. Since I'm a killer main. But, I don't think that's necessarily bad to an extent. Making a gen take up to a minute and a half with four people on it is extremely ridiculous. That's why I was in favor of Freddy's nerf, but am still happy with a perk or two to slightly slow things down since swf can cause things to spiral out of control rather fast. I hate blaming them for a huge portion of issues. But... well. They are pretty strong

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

if i could return to any point in time in terms of dbd's history, i think i'd honestly go back to plague's release- demise of the faithful.

it came with a good killer, good killer perks, my favourite survivor perk in the game, and made ds the weakest it's ever been (including current ds). the game wasn't that buggy, midwich didn't exist, and we also didn't have ghostface.

a close- and i mean very close second is patch 2.2.1. it was before spirit and legion, we didnt have to worry about yamaoka estate, the game just felt nice to play. and no spirit.

May I ask what's wrong with Ghostface?

You are probably on to something!

I really hope that you are right! This game is fantastic and has a community of fans who love it and invest their time and money into it still after five years which is saying something for this type of game!

With the updates in graphics that they've done and continue to plan on pushing and a little bit of focus like we've been talking about then this game could easily survive into the next gen of consoles!

I agree, I've been playing since late... 2017? I think I said 16 in a different post, my memory is foggy, at first I shrugged this game off, but I quickly fell into the game. I fell into it's web and I refuse to leave. It's funny, a lot of people always said they'll leave, but they always returned. I don't blame them, Behavior really did make something special and I am hellbent on trying to keep this game going. I'd love to work at Behavior's office

You are also right but the devs are too scared to care about the long term and don't look far into the future. Or rather than the devs it's the management of the company. They behave like Ubisoft, ea or activision in trying to spit out new shallow content in the shortest amount of time to generate profit (another cod, assassins creed, FIFA or battlefield with minimal changes to the gameplay but setting and plot). Every 3 months(?) A new chapter and in between a bunch of useless cosmetics.

They should look at other long-term games like wow, lol or r6s (Ubisoft I know but hey) where the team behind it did some amazing and sometimes drastic changes to the game to keep it fresh and help it's health

Trying to argue against your point is a fool's errand. Because it's true. What you said is actually why I made this post, in hopes I can spark some chain to show Behavior that we do care and believe that new isn't always better. I know this is a fruitless endeavor, but trying to quit and let this game endure more poison just hurts. I guess I'm a softy for passion projects that aren't cash grabs.

I don't think what you're suggesting is a bad idea at all. At the rate that they put out new chapters (which is impressive and appreciated) in an attempt to keep the game fresh and new players ever-joining I can't imagine it is very easy to also manage the existing content. It would probably have a really positive effect on the opinion of the community as well as the game itself if after the RE chapter they came forward and said that instead of new content they wanted to focus on pushing out some updates/patches to the game itself.

I would personally love that! And they could put out a new Rift if they want to satisfy the desire for new items in the game and let people grind for skins and charms while they are improving matchmaking, hitboxes, and other commonly known issues the game has.

Again, you're exactly right. I think with Dead By Daylight's partnership with Resident Evil, they'll have a huge gap to work on special projects, I kinda feel this nudge on the back of my head that they've been planning this or at least thought about it anyhow. Rifts, skins, and other nice goodies could and can keep their game a float economically as well. If they did more art contest, they could also bring it a lot more revenue both community and income at the same time while theoretically doing less work.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

I'm sure they are aware and that's what worries me. This game being their only cash cow you'd think they would take better care of it. What else are they going to make money off of? Death Garden :P

Another good point, dead by daylight is Behavior's huge source of income, which makes me think that they believe if their three month deadline doesn't meet their quota, they'll lose so much money. I personally don't believe it, I think it's a fear that they put themselves in to. Which, understandably, if I was in their shoes, I'd do the same.

  • @Kate_Main_01 said:

The devs are in a hard place though because long wait times scare off new players just as much (if not more in my experience) as unfair trials. In the case of your friend he knew the game was unfair and unbalanced but you could also explain that that is not always the case.

In 2020 (PS4, pre-crossover) I tried to get three friends into the game. I wish I was exaggerating when I say that we waited 10+ minutes for each round. Then the rounds would last less than the wait time and then we'd start over again. They tried it in pairs and saw mixed results on faster times but inevitably gave up because they felt the game was dead and that they were spending more time waiting than playing.

I think that they are damned if they do and damned if they don't, unfortunately! And I don't think they know what the answer to the problems are.

Exactly! You hit the nail right on the head! Everything you said is completely and utterly true. Even with "I don't think they know the answer to the problems anyway" that's what I want to focus on if you don't mind. They don't, not saying that as an insult, no. Quite the opposite actually, we all go through this. Everyday, whether it's work or home, we sometimes get stumped at something that just takes us back for a while. Which is my main point, I believe that they need to stop with their ever creeping three month deadlines and focus on the core concept of their game. It's hard to focus on a few big elements while constantly being stuck on a deadline, for their and the game's health. I believe they need to stop with the deadline and look at the big picture. Everything I say is NOT an insult to their intelligence, their work, or their competence. I want/will reiterate this point a lot so if the off chance a dev sees this post, they'll understand that this isn't some jerk crapping on them.

The problem is that something like this normally needs half a year+ worth of time to pendle itself out and they would need to implement something to protect newbies at the beginning. But the acclimatization time alone would annoy people so much that behaviour would get scared and roll back the SBMM like they did after their first two trial runs lasting on day each.

While that's extremely true, it doesn't hurt to at least give it a shot. People can get impatient, you can never change that. It's built in our systems, but looking at someone's impatient request and backing down allowing for issues like these to get away isn't worth it. In the long run, it might hurt a bit, but the healthy changes will allow it to blossom and hopefully overcome these issues. But, again. You make a phenomenal point, I just don't think that it's enough to warrant an excuse to avoid what would ultimately be the right thing

  • @Sadiii said:

Whatever happened to MMR or "Skill based match-making" as they called it? Was the exact situation not meant to be addressed as a result of it?

I think it did work for a little, but something caused it to bug out. I'm imagining that's what happened, this past year has not been kind to the developers or us

Personally I think this game needs a crisis that causes the player basis to dip into the hundreds. Only then when it's on the verge of death will they stop producing half baked new content and focus on game health. If the crisis causes the game to actually die well it had a good run.

That's what makes me nervous. I don't want the game to die. I'm sure they're aware of the issues. They have to be.

I like Adams lore. Mainly because I relate to it in some ways

I get what you mean. I guess in some weird way, I relate with Jeff

Yui. Reading her lore made me fall in love with her.

She is a very motivated and dedicated person that sparks hope. I can understand why so many people like her

That behaviour is toxic of course. Tea bags at the exit is not very polite (unless killer had tunneled and facecamped; in that case is more than correct).

As survivor if I wait for the killer at exit is just for hitting me last time. I don´t think most of the survivors are toxic. I think most survivors are nice, specially with no tryhard killers.

Keep going. We need more killers in game, man =D

I unfortunately agree with OP, I'm having a hard time trying to find decently nice survivors who aren't a glorified hemorrhoid. I'm not saying they're nonexistent, it's just that swf tends to drown them out for a quick and easy chuckle. Maybe someday this will all be a bad memory

While I definitely want more monster killers, I believe the main reason is because all the killers use the same animation Rig. I think awhile ago they said something along the lines that making a new rig would be very time consuming? I don't know how it works, but I think that was the issue. Demo is the most monstrous killer we have, but he's still humanoid in shape. So is Oni, Blight...

That's completely fair. They don't have to have a brand new rig to make them special (it would be very welcoming if they did) but, a humanoid monster like Demo is just fine by me

This is why I always say alien for licence. The map would be insane, similar model to demo and abilities have many possibilities. Non liscene I always say a werewolf, imagine hearing that howl or sprint at you on all 4s lol

At first I was against Alien. (Not a fan of sci-fi) But, at this point in the game's life I think they'd be a perfect fit
