with that kind of perk investment to get usage out of self-care, you'd be better off bringing a medkit with the max number of charges, and taking built to last and streetwise. That gives you two free perks to use for something like desperate measures and circle of healing. Or even just taking hyperfocus and stakeout if you want the skill check simulator.
-
I've also noticed a lot of network issues with the latest update. I'm assuming all the symbols are new cause I've never seen them before and tbh I have no idea what they mean. Also some chases against survivors have been really difficult cause of how they teleport around even if I have a solid connection. Also I'm getting random disconnects, failures to update the bloodweb, etc.
Tbh I think the steam servers might be part of the issue but idk why there's problems suddenly.
-
"wahhh just run gearhead and discordance!"
ok cool now i know they have prove thyself and hyperfocus, as if i didn't already know. How does that help me exactly? Especially when I'm sacrificing two perks to find out the genrushers are doing gens?
-
Right now one of my fave survivor builds is Flashbang, Q&Q, Head On, and Dance With Me
Stun + Blind + No Scratch Marks is such a funny combo and it makes chases more interesting than just knowing loops.
-
honestly i think something drastic needs to be done to survivor mains and bully squads to fix the community of this game. Maybe something like every time you play a killer game, you get a token and you have to spend that token to start a swf game. Or like every 15 survivor games you have to play a killer match or something.
people need to be forced to see the killer experience and how painful it is to play against bully squads, some of the nicest survivors i meet are the ones who also play killer an equal amount. Killer is extremely hard to play at high ranks and im tired of surivvor mains being absolute brats
-
behavior...grass and corn aren't walls...why did you code it like that.
like genuinely gf and mike are already so under powered and hard to play, and on top of that stalking seems to follow pokemon rules.

So, you are proposing a perk that gives less benefit than Leader (which gives 25% speed to actions not including repairing generators) which ALSO has a detriment for 75% of most matches? How is this anything but the literal worst perk in the game, killer or survivor?
By bringing this perk, one of the 4 perks the survivors get to bring to try to help them escape, they get to shave 2.5 seconds off a single gen if they work on it with another survivor? 50.42 seconds with your proposed Prove Thyself vs 52.94 seconds without your proposed Prove Thyself.
In exchange for this OBVIOUSLY OP buff, if they aren't near someone they now take 96.3 seconds to finish a gen alone? Plus additional time to cleanse a totem, or open a gate, or heal themselves. Honestly, who would ever bring this perk unless they were going for Adept Dwight?
If I'm doing my math wrong here, or if I'm missing something, please enlighten me.
i don't care enough to do the math, my point is it should be put in the garbage because I'm tired of how much use I get out of it as survivor and how it ruins my killer games.

I swear, people that think prove thyself should be nerfed, are the same killers running 4 gen regression perks. They get upset because they never had a chance to kick the gen xD.
Maybe behavior should have structured the game differently. Maybe if they made an objective other than repairing gens then I wouldn't feel forced to run 4 slowdown/regression perks.
Every killer perk is in theory supposed to ultimately prevent you from completing your objective. 90% of the objective is repairing generators, so stopping survivors from repairing generators is the top priority. If you can't repair the generators, it doesn't matter how good you are at a chase.
Idk why survivor mains whine and scream about killers running the most useful perks. Running anything other than slowdowns is making a bet that the survivors will act a certain way.

Better than new is dead, it no longer grants repair speed. Wesker's vault perk will likely see use on many killers.
wait what hold on
*reads patch notes again*
ok either the omission of repair was an accident or they're being outright deceitful by not clearly mentioning that in the notes. Their language makes it seem like a significant buff but as written it's just a complete retooling that provides little benefit.
-
Yeah as fun as Wesker's gameplay and animations are, his perks got nerfed into uselessness.
However, the next dlc is worth buying purely for Rebecca. Hyperfocus and Better Than New are two build-defining perks that will make gen rushing easier than ever.
Hyperfocus, Fast Track, Stakeout, TINH = hit your skill checks and do gens in almost have the time
BTN, Botany, We'll Make It, Desperate Measures = Quickly get survivors buffed and genrushing faster than ever. Completely nullifies Gift of Pain after the BTN buff.
-
I also refunded hooked on you and I still have my unlocked cosmetics
-
beginner survivors basically face a huge cliff wall of a learning curve considering the amount of maps and perks they have to learn, and it absolutely results in horrible player retention. Killer might be easier at first, but playing killer at a mid-to-high skill level is some of the most emotionally and psychologically stressful experiences I've ever had. I always remember one steam review that was like "this game fixed my sleep schedule because I'd play at 9pm, get mad, and go to bed"
I think that's part of why survivor mains and killer mains are so toxic to each other. The game itself has beat them down and taken a lot of their time, and people who don't play both roles end up taking their frustrations out on each other. And the cycle perpetuates because there's a chance every new killer or every new survivor in a match is going to be as rude and annoying as the last one.
I think this game needs to be a lot more welcoming to brand new players or else the health of the game is going to suffer. The grind reduction was great for veteran players, but I fail to see how it's actually going to be beneficial for brand new players.
-
As a survivor I'm quite excited to use hyperfocus to genrush, I think it's the most unbalanced balanced perk they've ever made.
Hyperfocus, Stakeout, Fast Track, This Is Not Happening. This is gonna be my new fave build. I haven't seen a build this perfect since flip-flop, tenacity, undying, power struggle/boil over.
-
This screenshot looks really nice. Legion and Jeff is probably my favorite chapter in the game and this looks really fun. As cool as it is to have the barren snowy ormond, I really like this winter haze and if you told me this was for a rework to ormond I'd believe you.
-
I don't even get shards?? Literally I own so few costumes, and I'm just out of luck because you picked one of like ten cosmetics I already own to include with this month's prime?? You couldn't even be bothered to change the color or something, I just don't get anything???
This kinda sucks, ngl.
-
I'm kind of excited for the bp incentives to be active cause I would love all these survivor mains to try playing killer more often and see the other side of their actions.
I've had so many terrible games as ghostface that I kind of cheer when I'm against a really good ghostface, for example.
If survivor mains would finally be on the receiving end of bully squads maybe they'd understand that survivors are still incredibly strong and killers are still pretty limited in what perks they can use and still be successful against high-skill survivors.
The ideal solution is to make solo survivors stronger and make swf groups weaker and then balance the game around the idea that a survivor is just as strong alone as they are playing in a vc with friends. This is what is holding the game back.
-
The fact that bhvr keeps hiding metrics to cover up their terrible matchmaking really drives me nuts. It was really kind of nice to see that when I get stomped as killer it's cause it's four rank 1s.
On the other hand I played against a prestige 28 Kate the other day and was unsurprised when she ran pixel-perfect chases, thankfully matchmaking sometimes will toss me a soloq potato if it gives me someone obviously beyond any normal player's skill level.
-
All the ranges in the game are like this, it's part of the balancing issues of two-story maps. I love going on The Game as doc cause every single static blast will hit everyone all the time. They can't just change boon totems, they'd have to change how ranges work for everything that has a range.

Just play a different game. If you’re unhappy with the DbD experience, there are plenty of other games out there to try out. I know it’s hard to break the addiction, but it is possible.
Actually, I think instead I would like this game to be fun! This game I've already invested a lot of time into! Maybe they should just make it fun, even if the survivors are really good! Or maybe finally implement mmr based on which killer you are, so I can actually try new killers and strategies and not feel punished for not playing the one or two highly optimized builds I've put together!
Heck maybe stop letting 4-man swfs exist alltogether and make it so each survivor team has at least one random person, or make gen speeds even slower based on the size of your party.
Or maybe make an unranked mode that has no mmr and you just get what you get. I'd love to ever play pig or ghostface again, or be given an arena where I could learn nurse or blight, but I missed my chance cause I played too much doc legion and pinhead and now all my games suck unless I play at off-times when streamers aren't grouped up.

I wonder if you would have felt this way about the KFC dating sim not taking rubbing lotion on the fried chicken seriously. :P
The difference is that I don't regard The Colonel as an emotionally complex character. When Behavior asked me a year ago what genre of game I'd like to see in the dbd franchise I said Dating Sim because I thought it could be an entertaining mix of humor and horror while preserving the elements of the characters players find interesting and appealing.
I didn't expect the resulting game to feel like sitting at a school lunch table laughing with a group of friends and slowly realizing everyone else at the table is laughing at you for thinking they're your friends.
-
Yeah ok i didn't know these devs made the kfc dating sim, now I understand what I'm dealing with and I was foolish to expect a game that respected what I enjoy about the complexity of the characters behavior created.

Yes, your MMR is not per character killer. I combines all your previous matches no matter which killer you play.
this is so funny cause i swear in the last year they've said they're doing killer-based mmr like three separate times so I just assumed it would've stuck at some point
-
Wait is killer-based mmr not enabled? Is my mmr the same for all killers? no wonder I was getting sweaty swfs on demo who I'm not good at, it's cause I just came off a bunch of pinhead 4ks.
-
bond, open handed, mettle of man, object of obsession
You are now a radar.
-
i'm having a lot of fun using my personal fave survivor perks now that the meta build of dh, ds, bt, sc has gone by the wayside.
-
I do like the idea of a weaker version of pop being basekit, cause kicking a gen does so little unless you have any perks attached.
-
Uh, let me just lay this all out for you.
Your main objective as survivor is to do gens, open the exit gate, and leave. There's other things you can do, but they're to support your main objective.
Leading the killer on a chase gives other survivors more time to repair gens.
Healing a survivor gives them a better chance of leading the killer on a longer chase.
Cleansing a hex totem that carries Ruin or Devour Hope will make it easier to repair gens or lead the killer on a chase. Clensing a dull totem can help prevent noed from activating if all dull totems are cleansed, or can help you heal yourself if you're using the perk Inner Strength.
Searching a chest gives you an item that can help in various ways. It's especially useful to search chests if the killer is defending 3 gens in a small space, because getting a key in this situation will allow you to escape without having to finish all the gens.
As a survivor, you should always be doing one of these objectives, and your focus should always be on repairing gens and opening the exit gates.
"Gen rushing" refers specifically to a coordinated team repairing gens faster than solo survivors can usually manage. They do this by using perks like prove thyself or fast track, toolboxes with brand new parts, and communicating when one of them is in a chase with the killer, meaning the other three are safe to repair gens. When one of them is hooked, they coordinate which other survivor is going to go for the unhook, and maximize the time spent repairing generators.
What you're experiencing isn't genrushing, it's simply that the killer is not applying enough pressure to survivors. They are not in danger while repairing generators because the killer is either spending too long in a chase with a survivor, or is simply not patrolling gens.
It can be difficult as a new player because there are a lot of things you have to learn such as common gen spawn points, common totem spawn points, effective loops to lead the killer through long chases, etc. Use perks that help you locate gens and totems so you can learn where they commonly spawn on different maps. Learn which perks are useful on most characters and focus on unlocking useful teachables.
-
Tbh if you just go ahead and play other killers with different perk builds you'll derank naturally. I find that I'm much more comfortable playing around rank 10-5 than in the reds. 15 is much too low though, chases stop being interesting once you drop below rank 10.
-
I know third seal doesn't work with killer objects like jigsaw boxes or purification fountains, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with plaything unless the devs specifically went out of their way to not make it work. Just be careful not to take any other hex perks otherwise you'll run out of totems.
-
I actually encountered my first hacking the other day, all gens and two hexes were popped in under 30 seconds, so i went to stand in a corner so they didn't get boldness points and one of them used, literally, more than a dozen event firecrackers to try and blind me

Negotiations require two parties to come to an agreement. Putting the blame on Behaviour when none of us have any information about why the licensing agreement is ending is unfair. For all we know, Netflix ended the contract with no room for discussion.
If they “tweak” the map they’ll get sued by Netflix, lol. They can’t just keep the map and give it a new lick of paint, that isn’t how copyright works.
Actually it is. Netflix holds the rights to the likeness of steve, nancy, and demo, and to the hawkins name and likeness. The layout of the map was made by behavior and they retain the rights to it. They could absolutely reskin the map itself and release it again. Netflix doesn't own a series of hallways, pallet locations, locker locations, vault windows, etc. That's why they're making generic versions of the perks to put in the shrine, the perks are property of behavior, they just can't infringe upon the netflix copyright of steve, nancy, and demo's faces
-
Yeah demo's perks will be made into generic versions and be put in shrine of secrets rotation, which isn't really a satisfactory fix and honestly i won't be surprised if by jan 2022 they just outright disable demo steve and nancy and make the generic perks unlocked for everyone
-
I can't wait for demo to become broken or bugged or over/underpowered somehow through the life of the game and the devs will be unable to make any changes to them because they're technically a retired killer
-
The biggest issue is that killers and survivors cost money. With survivors it's ok if their personal perks are underpowered because they can have the same powers as anyone else. But a weak killer is a wasteful purchase. I spent money on killers like pig, ghostface, clown, and trickster, so it would be nice if they weren't trash.
-
As doc I love being able to shock a survivor and trap them between me and a pallet they can't vault. Being able to turn a loop into a death sentence is so nice. Also shocking a gen that's close to completion and stopping any progress for long enough for me to get to it to kick it. Plus his aoe attack is so nice for keeping track of where survivors are without having to waste a perk on it.
-
They need to make kindred basekit and make other aura-reading perks stronger. Honestly a fifth perk slot only for aura perks (bond, empathy, aftercare, open-handed, dark sense, etc) would bring solo survivor up to par with swfs. Then buff killers/nerf all survivors to the point that the game is playable. I'd love for something like gens to be made slower with more frequent skill checks (maybe with a 1% bonus for good checks and a 3% bonus for great checks) and for killers to be limited to only one gen slowdown perk. I would love to use different killer perks and not just stack slowdowns to actually keep up with swfs.
-
I 5-genned a group of survivors on badham who had a key and even when it was down to 2 they still couldn't escape cause the hatch didn't spawn. It felt so good to keep them trapped with no escape. The number of times I've executed a good 3-gen only for someone to find a key in a chest is awful, it felt so nice to finally know they had no way out unless they finished a gen
-
Insatiable Hunger: Bloodlust activates 40/45/50 percent faster and increases speed an additional 3%

What made you play DBD on Switch despite all of its flaws & issues?
I understand other games on Switch, but why DBD?
If they're not going to support it then they shouldn't sell it. Don't victim-blame consumers for buying a product when it's bhvr's fault that they're intentionally ignoring one of their supposedly supported platforms.
-
Yeah I was expecting more from him but it's sort of insane how this only increases his strength in situations where he was already strong. If anything the reduction in knife quantity actually hurts him where he needed help. I can't throw knives when i'm trying to get a quick shot before they turn a corner, I need to make sure I can hit my shots before I wind up. Breaking his los punishes him even more now, so he's only more of a menace against people who don't yet know how to play against him. It's a nerf against survivors who already weren't scared of him.
I hope they stop making killers, cause trickster is just the top of a long list of killers that they really should take a harder look at. And given how long it's going to take to address this latest round of balancing, it'll be forever before they address michael, ghostface, twins, trapper, or legion.
-
Whoever wrote it might've intended it to be gay, but I remember how Claud's tome very obviously implies she's autistic, yet when the devs were asked they were just like "what? huh? no, why would you think that? Of course she's not autistic"
here's hoping their first attempt at gay rep isn't gonna be so easily deniable.

Agreed. I got Rank 1 with Ghostface a few times before the BT buff, you can forget it now though. He just leaves too much to be desired.
oh man...imagine being able to actually tunnel off hook...I really wish bt wasn't as strong as it is, I hate having to use it as survivor and I hate that everyone uses it as killer
-
I wish I could play trapper against these people who hate playing against him, all I get are people who just run around disarming my traps behind me and genrushing me. Those people might actually be frightened if trapper had enough traps at start to actually have any semblance of an early game
-
I'd love to play ghostface but he's just depressing to play as. At this point wraith is far, far better than him but I love Danny Johnson so much, he deserves to be a stronger killer. Stealth in this game is just so difficult when the gens go so fast.
-
I really want Jeff and frank to have had crushes on each other before frank was taken by the fog. That's my personal favorite relationship I'd love to see explored in a tome since we haven't gotten a Jeff or frank lore tome yet.
-
honestly the chat filter is so disappointing cause it was much more fun getting swore at than the new toxic trashtalk survivors are coming up with.
This is something a reddit post about the psychology of the toxicity of this game talked about, where in the postgame chat survivors who were killed will try and play down the killer's ability and rationalize some other reason the killer got the kill other than their skill. Even tho the survivor died, they're still trying to deny the killer the feeling of victory and make themselves feel as if the loss was out of their control.
Honestly I think postgame chat should be disabled and everyone, even console players, can select between stock phrases like "well played" or "so close!" or even a "So disappointing" as an outlet for survivor frustrations. I think both killers and survivors have long lost the privilege to say whatever they want.
-
A lot of replies are ignoring what I'm actually talking about. I understand why it exists for single survivors, but the fact that it doesn't regen means that once you fully stalk all survivors in the match you completely lose your power. And it's even easier to run out of stalk depending on what addons you use. It's the only killer where you can lose all your power in a match and be reduced to an m1 killer with no special ability.
-
As killer I hate seeing Ace, Yui, Nea, and Feng, especially if they have garish cosmetics.
As a survivor I also don't like seeing ace, but also i'm wary of Bills.
-
1) If you manually cancel your power, the fatigue is reduced based on how much of your power meter is remaining. This means that you could feral frenzy hit someone then cancel to immediately go for the down.
2) Make deep wounds tick down at 75% speed while sprinting. Make subsequent hits tick down the timer. Rework frank's mix tape to instead increase feral frenzy move speed by 5%
3) Make killer instinct activate as soon as you activate feral frenzy instead of requiring you to hit someone first.
Maybe not all of these at once, but they're all fun ideas.
-
I love playing legion, those chases against healthy survivors are so fun, being able to vault behind survivors. I just wish they could be tweaked so that they became a m1 killer when the vivor is injured. I'd love something like having a short stun if you cancel the power yourself, so you could use frenzy to close the distance and then get the down with a basic attack.
