If the answer is NO, then I would suggest not turning off crossplay.

If the answer is YES, then I would suggest turning it off. You're gonna face longer ques, that's my guess. There aren't a lot of benefits for console players to keep crossplay on if u ask me, outside of faster ques. If there are, they're probably not as significant.

I meant it as McLean doing exactly that. Him jumping ship because of the NFT nonsense.

What I wanted to say, McLean didn't want to be any part of this, hence him jumping ship BEFORE the big reveal.

The only question is, for how long has BHVR worked with these guys to allow NFTs in DBD. McLean was nothing more than a developer, he wasnt't a CEO, no nothing. He did his part in the company and always focused on us, the player base whilst BHVR was focused on the money.

Now, if u want to blame anyone, blame the ones in suits. Not the guys in shirts working and keeping the game alive. McLean being one of the guys in shirt.

  • I highly doubt McLean is the type of person to do this kind of thing.

Looks at the tweets much closer.

Example 1 -> "Behaviour worked with Boss Protocol over several months to adapt in-game models for use as NFTs and approved them prior to the release of Pinhead in DbD. "

Example 2-> "Park Avenue Entertainment and Boss Protocol are great partners and it’s been a pleasure to work with them to bring #Hellraiser to DbD. "

My guess, McLean knew of this, and prior to this revealing, he left, he tried his hardest ot work on one of the best, if not the best patch DBD will ever see in its life. After that, he jumped ship. Could u imagine him still working, then streaming and being bombarded by harassment & all kinds of questions? McLean dodged a bullet. if not, he dodged a nuke.

At least, that's my theory. I would like to believe McLean is not that type of person.

They've been working for months on this. We've all been fooled, bamboozled. And you all still believe these kinds of people?

Considering how adamant steam seems about that rule. I doubt they’d care at all about a loophole like that and will ban it anyway.

If u ask me, banning a game like DBD from Steam after their stupid move will make a great example to those upcoming games if they'll ever want to follow trough with such similar plans.

Aka, banning DBD will make a fine example.

  • So after this move, who at BHVR is going to pocket the money and jump ship?

    Let's see.

  • Not exactly tomorrow, but in the next 2-3 days. Cause people are going to be busy leveling her to play her or for her perks, which in return, they need to level their main survivors and unlock those perks on them as well, which of course, is going to take a while.

Should be fun. Watching from afar, that is.

  • And here I thought it was the perks & items.

    Hah...

But then again, maps are only a part of the problem, not the entire problem.

And how many do you think wanted mods gone, if only to provide some relief from the cheating that could be done with mods?

    Obviously a lot more.

However, we get back to my point. Instead of whitelisting stuff that u can and can't mod, it's better to press the kill-switch on that, than to just work on it. A new type of content, theoretically infinite, has disappeared overnight. If u wanted mods gone, a better approach should've been taken.

And don't you dare tell me they can't do that, they whitelisted stuff that u can edit in their GameUserSettings & Engine files.

Let me rephrase: how many people do you believe were affected by this change?

    a very small amount.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2564410#Comment_2564410

Just how many people do you believe stopped playing because you can no longer use mods? The console playerbase is unaffected, the streamers stayed, and most people weren't using mods to begin with (modders are a minority in almost every single game in existence).

I didn't mention people leaving cause of mods being banned.

Mods were nothing more than a new fun way to play the game. You'd have Amogus run around Krampus Trapper or the characters from Fortnite looping a spirit. Coca-Cola Lockers, Hello Kity generators, etc. If I was getting carried to a Shrek Hook that would make me smile & laugh.

No idea if people left. Maybe some left, maybe some are playing less, we don't know. This is not important, what's important is the fact that instead of properly addressing these kinds of mods by whitelisting / blacklisting stuff, etc, it's far easier to just press the kill switch and not worry about it anymore.

Pff, and they say they care about us, smh. What a disappointment. The game is not even worth my sanity anymore, not even these forums, but I just lurk around here and there. I'm just watching from afar the dumpster fire.

  • Only if the devs were good enough to whitelist & blacklist what u can and can't mod.

Then we wouldn't have this issue, ey? But it's easier to ban mods altogether than to think of your player base.

Pretty sure it started with Team Oracle using it. Since I'm pretty sure all of their members use stretched res which I think Is pretty stupid. Survivors don't need even more advantages then they already have. The reason it started with Oracle is because they are well... one of the BEST DBD comp teams out there.

Most of the Oracle members stream and play on Twitch & their recordings & scrims can be found on Youtube. People are pointing fingers at Oracle because of who they are, an extremely well-known competitive stream, especially their members. Ayrun for example is a member.

Now, if u were to look at other teams and their POVs you would not see any difference. Trying to avoid the name and shame rule (extremely stupid) but if u were to look at the POVs of the guys who won Hexy"s "Best of the Best Tournament" you would see some high-class heresy. Some of them stream, but unlike Oracle they're not that well known.

  • Even though, i'm not on Console, as a PC user this problem affects me as well. I can record at 1080, stable fps 60-90 and then can freeze for 1-2 seconds out of nowhere.

Ask those 10000 survivors if they're going to handicap themselves the next time they spawn on a gen before the killer even loads in

    image.png

    What....?

  • @fogdonkey said:

I tried to play nice and "survivor friendly"... But it just doesn't work. I can't afford 4 people to sit on gens. Survivors are not playing "killer friendly", they are just pushing gens without even healing. Especially these SWFs are completely destroying me.

Maybe it is also because I play weaker killers like Trickster. Sometimes it takes a lot of time until I manage to down a competent survivor. And if they run to the shack, I am usually just forced to give up the chase, because the gens will be flying.

Anyway... I just start to hate this game.

    @SilentPill said:

I don’t even see why it’s shunned or people feel the need to apologize for it.

If the survivors want to get all the gens done in 5 minutes, then the killer can get the kills done in 2 minutes.

It’s funny because my friend, who doesn’t even play this game, doesn’t understand it either. I was showing him some of the salt on my steam page and this is the conversation…

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IRTOI97BK248/68d79c3e-fbd5-4507-9675-0f472bad0f71.png

The end justifies the means, or so they say.

Are u willing to make the game extremely miserable for that one survivor in order to win? What about the next 100000 who are going to get the same treatment?

  • Have u also took into consideration these perks when u came with the giant 15-20% penalties to speed?

    • Thanatophobia
    • Dying Light
    • Pop
    • Ruin + Undying

And their respective killers? Aka the ones who use them the most.

Someone dying early would give the survivors a 33% increase in gen speed... Wouldn't that be punishing for the killer & would make the 15-20% penalty to repair obsolete?

I have won 3v1 scenarios at 4 gens before, all you need is some good teammates & cooperation, even though it's quite rare.

The last survivor getting 100% speed to gen speed is extremely pointless as both him and the killer would be looking for the hatch.

This means that quickly killing a survivor won't have as much of an impact as before as the number of charges/second the survivors can do roughly remains the same (4 survivors can do 4 charges a second on sepperate gens, 3 survivors with the buff 3.99 charges a second. When one is chased 4 survivors do 3 charges a second and with the buff 2 survivors do 2.66 charges a second.) it only starts being a real advantage to the killer after 2 people died

    Toolboxes & Prove Thyself exist.

Your 1st idea would promote a lot of slugging... You hook one, down the other, look for more. That way you make sure not all of them are dead and you keep them either on 1st or 2nd hook whilst ur getting stacks of Thana & Dying Light for example. Then after 20 minutes have passed and only 1 gen have popped you'll finally have them all on death hook with the max stacks from Dying Light & Thana on top. Not to mention if u down them, from the amount of slugging u did, they'll just drop dead. 10/10 would play.

Dota 2 700K average players, prize of 5M - 35M dollars for winning a tournament, DBD 70K average players (10% of dota wich is not bad) and biggest prize was 20K dollars in Tokyo. DBD has a big playerbase and compared to its size the competitive scene is almost non existant, i don't think this is debatable.

As long as the comp term is brought often on the forums, and there are people comparing casual gameplay to comp & how certain changes would impact the comp environment, I think it's debatable. Not to mention that comp streamers that stream once a in blue moon always get a high amount of viewers, for a DBD streamer at least.

Just because YOU think it's non-existent, that doesn't mean ur right.

No, no, not good reason. Good idea. Plenty of reasons to get mad at people in a video game, but is it ever a good idea to?

No, it's not. Even if they deserve it. In fact, especially if they deserve it. Feeding into your anger and lashing out accomplishes nothing, for nothing. You may not ask for your anger, but it's still yours. And if you decide to spray it on everyone within range, that's your bad, period, end of discussion.

You can't and shouldn't expect everyone to empathize and support you when you rage-- you have to have the self-responsibility to get a handle on it yourself.

Yeah, my thicc ass saw reason instead of idea. Perks of waking up very early.

Feeding into your anger and lashing out accomplishes nothing, for nothing. You may not ask for your anger, but it's still yours. And if you decide to spray it on everyone within range, that's your bad, period, end of discussion.

There are barely repercussions for raging online, sometimes none. In real life, there are plenty.

I'll just leave it at this.

To each their own. From my POV, I'll understand their behavior and be done with it. I may speak to them and come to something, or not. Everyone is different. It's too big of a problem to even begin discussing how to solve it. And let's not forget even if u do that, you hold your anger inside, then you shouldn't expect for the other to do the same.

Is it ever really a good idea to be angry at people in a video game though?

Like, yes, it's understandable that it happens. But I feel like it's something you should be avoiding instead of excusing.

If I actually got mad enough to lash out at people because I didn't win the game, i'd actually like to be clowned on so I can feel properly ashamed of it and not want to do it again. Because it's bad to do.

Is it ever really a good idea to be angry at people in a video game though?

Yes, there are perfectly good reasons. Has a win ever been stolen from you by a cheap tactic for example? Have you ever lost an extremely close game? Have you ever lost a match with a high reward (money / ingame currency) ? Can you stop a human from feeling these emotions? What you need to do is either leave or understand their frustration. Understanding each other is part of being human.

Should this be encouraged? Absolutely not, but unless you have a way to change human nature then there's no way to stop this.

We'll see that in about 100 years when we're totally going to alienate ourselves from human emotions. I brought my tin foil hat for this one. And no, I won't start a discussion about this last topic ^.

Sorry, but I'll keep talking about it and how unbalanced it is until the game shuts down for good. There are 2 sides to this game and one side needs their fair share. One side has a blatant advantage and the other gets nothing. And until that changes I will always argue and discuss this.

Then you're gonna fight a pointless war.

You make the claim the other side gets nothing, I hope you have undisputed proof that this is correct.

  • @MrCalac123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2446864#Comment_2446864

By this logic any buff for Killer is punishing Survivors. You see it as a punishment, I see it as giving the Killer the balance they rightfully deserve. Why shouldn't the Killer be given help when their opponents get massive advantages completely for free?

Then you should know that Devs will not balance this whatsoever. As making any slight change will impact the Competitive environment & their financial gain. After all, survivors are the ones who buy the most cosmetics. Competitive is quite a big scene and has rewards ranging from a couple thousand $ to tens of thousands of $.

Their discord has channels for joining and making SWF squads.

Do you want to do something about this? Then look toward the BP grind and nothing more.

  • @MrCalac123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2446842#Comment_2446842

It's not about punishing SWF, it's about buffing the other half of the entire game. Also, yes you still have a massive advantage over SoloQ Survivors and the Killer, even when not being a super good team. The advantages you have don't magically disappear or become fair.

By giving a speed increase to the killer against a SWF, you are punishing SWF.

    image.png

On top of hurting SoloQ survivors who happen to be unlucky enough to end in a 3 SWF match. Just like has been mentioned in this post before.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

I would take bonus bloodpoints. The movement speed seems unfair for any solo in the lobby, and heck, it is kind of unfair for the SWF too.

    Pretty much.

OP forgets that not all SWF are Comp teams and playing for fun, even if they communicate. When I play in SWF, we sometimes are drunk, high or very tired due to playing very late at night. We're not Navy Seals, I tell you that much.

Should we be punished for wanting to play with friends?

  • @MrCalac123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2446809#Comment_2446809

Because by the nature of the game, SWF specifically have a massive advantage compared to Solo Survivors and Killer. Neither of the 2 mentioned get any form of compensation despite this, it is simply, objectively, unbalanced. If people quit the game because it became balanced, Idk what to tell you. I was just spit balling, my ideas are not the only solution available.

    • Unlike Killers, SoloQ survivors will have a more miserable time playing the match.
    • SoloQ survivors are essentially alone, they have to fight the killer on top of their teammates most of the time.
    • Killers who had a bad game will get compensated, through BPs. What am I gonna get if I get tunneled and camped very early in the game by a scummy killer? I tell you what, jack #########. At least they get stacks of BBQ on top of their offering if they brought one and the one from a survivor.
    • Have u played during the anniversary? Do I need to tell you how many times I've been camped & tunneled when there were 5 cakes on the line and ended up with less than 10k, sometimes less than 6k BPs whilst the killer at end of the match got 20-25k+ ? Poor killer...

Killers have BPs oozing out their rears unlike survivors and especially SoloQ survivors. Do you want to buff one side? Good, then buff the BP gain for example on Solo Survivors & give killers more quality of life features that they could all benefit from.

  • Yes, totally.

As you can see in these pictures.

    image.png image.png

The killer definitely needs more Bloodpoints when going against a SWF, the Offering & the 4 stacks of BBQ + The occasional cake / BPs from survivors is clearly not enough. I clearly earned nothing just like u mentioned here:

one side has a blatant advantage and the other side gets nothing

    --

But when the Killer loads INTO the match, they can be given a handicap. Bonus movement speed based on who joined together as a party, 2 Survivors gives 1% to 4 Survivors giving 4%. 2 and 2 would give 2%, 1 and 3 gives 3% naturally. This is just spit balling off the top of my head.

Let's not give another reason to people to not play the game, yeah? Why should they be punished for playing with friends, OP?

What should be done, however, is give the killer more quality of life features:

    • Kicking a gen instantly removes 2-3%
    • Hatch opening takes 4-5s and (optional) can be interrupted
    • Gen tapping

You can find more info here:

    @Pilot said:

I want to keep this short so I won't go into full detail. You can figure some things yourself.

I will answer one question tho. Why do I consider these two changes important & why this year?

    • They must happen THIS YEAR because I can see them being added in the next mid-chapter update. A 3-month period to work on this should be more than reasonable.
    • These two mechanics are really, really outdated & are one of the most frustrating things as killer hence why I consider them important. They're a very important quality of life

    Gen Tapping

Probably the oldest mechanic in DBD. A killer can kick a gen only for the survivor to stop it from regressing by simply touching it. The survivor has magical working hands apparently. Give it the Blast Mine Treatment, after working for 3 seconds on a gen with blast mine charged, you can activate the trap. SO... After working for 3-5 seconds on a a gen, you can stop it from regressing, leaving any sooner than that, will cause an explosion and make the gen regress. The explosion is optional and could remove 2-3% of the gen's progress

A killer needs to waste a lot of time by kicking a gen. This allows the survivor(s) to get make a lot of distance whilst he's busy kicking the generator.

In conclusion, here are the changes that I consider important:

    • Kicking a gen should instantly regress it by 2-3%
    • You need to work on a gen for 3-5 seconds to stop it from regression.
    • OPTIONAL - Leaving any sooner than that, will cause an explosion that will remove 2-3% of the gen's progress & continue regressing the gen.

    Keys instantly opening Hatch

Ah yes, the good ol' keys discussion.

Simple as day. Opening a hatch requires 3-5 seconds of the survivor's time. Here are two things that need to be settled upon whenever this change goes live:

    • If the survivor should continue the action if it gets hit by the killer. Aka, if the killer hits the survivor, it can interrupt the action & allow the killer to down the survivor, depending on the time. Also, if perks like Resilience could affect the hatch opening speed.
    • The next thing should be the time. How long it takes for a survivor to open the hatch.

Note 1: One must remember that changing one thing will affect the other. AKA if the hatch opening action is interrupted & the time to open it is around 3-5 seconds, this will allow the killer to down a fully healed survivor. The next thing, is the action is not interrupted and it takes around 4-5 seconds to open, perks like STBL will have a significant impact on this.

Note 2: Perks that open the hatch without the use of keys must not exist, or if they were to exist, they must have a tremendous requirement to activate

Personal opinion: If you ask me, the hatch opening action should take 4 seconds, should be interrupted because this must be done in a safe spot away from the killer & not when ur being chased by him.

I can't wait for this not to be seen and be sent to the Depths of Forum Hades.
