I play killers who feel strong to me but are easier to learn. I tend to avoid nurse and blight because I find them difficult to actually play, altho nurse im getting better with. But spirit is fun, altho I'm having the most fun with doc because of his ability to shut down loops.
But I wish killers like legion and trickster were more powerful because i enjoy playing them but i also don't enjoy getting bullied by survivors with no recourse because my killer isn't balanced properly.
-
It is a bit of an odd choice, especially since year 4 had a crown for julie. I bet julie is pissed she doesn't have a crown this year.
-
The early game grind hurts so bad, it really isn't helpful that new players simply cannot play this game on the level of people with more hours because they simply don't have the depth of perks to pick from. Even now that I have several good survivor and killer builds, the grind still hurts because I've unlocked enough teachables now that every new killer or survivor i get takes so much longer to get useful perks on.
We really need to be able to either avoid buying teachables or turn off certain teachables from appearing in our bloodwebs. I never want to use predator but I had to unlock it in order to get any useful perks on wraith. I have several perks that are extremely situational and they always seem to spawn on my bloodwebs of new killers instead of useful perks like bbq or ruin.
-
Yeah I'm feeling gaslit cause this wasn't mentioned in the patch notes at all from what I can tell, and it's a significant change in the text of the addons.

ruin, surge
ruin is cleared in the first 30 seconds. Remember, this is a scenario where the survivors are good, not a game you can win normally. Ruin undying is a strat I need to try but I don't have undying teachable unlocked yet.
-
Oh boy, I'm afking on coldwind right now because it's so frustratingly survivor-sided. Too big, strong loops, and the corn. Impossible to see scratch marks. I hate it every time.
-
Oh thank god the leaks said they wouldn't stack phew
-
I've never played during a bloodhunt, but I played last anniversary when cakes stacked and it was so fun. Now, hearing that the year 5 cakes don't stack this year, I'm so disappointed. They're just escape cakes but with a different image.

Or maybe just wait 10 seconds to let it close?
yeah that's the optimal play as the mechanic currently works
but it's not intuitive at all. why should i be punished for closing the hatch when it was opened early. especially when with how the dedicated servers are there's no way to actually stop a survivor from leaving, unless I can stand directly on it and body block it.
-
I want a killer with powers similar to the doctor's where you can inflict the action denial on them. I love shutting down loops or trapping someone on the wrong side of a dropped pallet. I also love the bonus effects like the red stain on the survivor or the illusory doctors giving you clues on where survivors are. I always feel powerful as the doc, even if I don't always 4k.
The only other killer I think that acts like that is Freddy, although I don't own him and haven't kept track of his changes that much.
-
Most killers aren't enjoyable once you hit purple or red ranks, especially if it's against a sweaty swf. Only a select few killers can still give you the feeling of power against a strong team of survivors. I've been having a lot of success with doctor because of his ability to deny loops, and pop and overcharge pair nicely.
On most killers though you end up having to run 3 gen slowdown perks and bbq, or ruin+undying and maybe haunted ground, retribution, or thrill of the hunt for good measure. There's almost no build diversity due to how few killers are actually effective at pressuring gens on their own. With some killers like ghostface you might be better off going for some sort of endgame build, like noed, blood warden, no way out, and bitter murmur.
Literally I skyrocketed through survivor ranks once I understood that either doing gens or making sure gens get done is always your priority. There's no other objective for survivors, so killers have to devote almost all their attention towards denying gens or distracting survivors with unhooks. It's why tunneling is so effective, once someone is dead the gens slow down immensely and gives you tons of breathing room.
-
I've tried blight once and I got one of the swamp maps and I was so confused with what objects I could hit and what ones I couldn't. Also discovered you can't rush up hills??? There was an incline in front of one of the exit gates and I couldn't rush up it I had to walk.

i would suggest whispers on doc
it's a good perk and it assures a blast will hit a survivor.
Yeah I'm running bbq, overcharge, pop, and either surveillance or discordance. Whispers is a good idea, I'll have to play around with that.

At least an answer would be satisfactory. I don't know about anyone else, but I would at least want an answer as to if we'll be getting it today or when we'll get it.
I'm pretty certain that a majority of the playerbase here wants to play on the R.P.D., so has it been fixed or will it remain in limbo? If the latter, can you tell us any estimated time?
Communicate with us.
I'm fairly sure the part of the playerbase that actually got to play on rpd wishes it would stay disabled. I know I was very happy to see it disabled, I was bringing map offerings every game to avoid it because it was such a huge sprawling pain.
-
I was just thinking this the other day. A passive regression (without sparks) to gens, and an additional passive regression to exit gates would be really helpful in slowing down gen times and opening up more perk options than just three gen slowdown perks

I love TL walls. They’re not strong but they offer 50/50 mind games for both sides to make a play.
It's only a 50/50 mindgame if you know the exact routes you're supposed to take. For a killer who isn't red rank it's just a chase-ender unless the survivor doesn't know the route either.
-
I just bought a bunch of dlc and then i realized that leveling new killers is gonna be a pain cause I have a lot of teachables that I've been forced to unlock and now they're all gonna show up in my bloodweb. Predator and Dying Light keep showing up when all I want is Iron Maiden and BBQ

Just go play deer hunter if you want easy mindless kills. You killer mains are so entitled with the constant 4K games. What more do you want?
I actually would really love solo survivors to get several buffs. I think most aura perks need significant buffs, or perks like kindred need to be in the survivor basekit. Solo survivors are the ones I kill the most often, while bully red swfs are what make this game so heavily survivor-sided. I would be fine with my 4-escapes if it weren't so blindingly obvious they're all sitting coordinating in a discord call.
Literally I have a challenge to get 3 iri devout emblems and after 10 games on various killers I'm nowhere closer because I keep getting pure red rank bully swfs or rainbow bully swfs taking advantage of the rank-based matchmaking to stomp my purple rank butt

I have no problem with these and they can actually really ######### over the survivor if you are a ranged a killer.
Yeah I'm gonna have to level deathslinger cause i'm tired of getting looped on this tile as legion or doc. I feel like doc should be able to counter it but by the time i get a shock off they've either juked it or are just going for the other window and waiting out the short action-lock
-
Yeah the counter to Feral Frenzy is not being healthy. Legion's power is wounding you, if you can loops him effectively while injured he can't touch you. I'm a legion main and it's one of his biggest weaknesses. He's a lot of fun when everyone's healthy, but when everyone's injured he just becomes a boring m1 killer
-
Delete the Feral Frenzy mechanic where hitting someone with deep wounds cancels your power without doing anything. Either make it down them or shorten their deep wounds timer/increase mending time. Legion is such a fun killer when everyone is uninjured, but his power doesn't help him down people at all.
-
Part of the issue for me is the jungle gym with two long walls and two windows. Either they need to shave off an inch of the walls or I need to figure out how to counter the loops on it cause I literally had a bubba game where I 3 genned with 2 survivors left and they just ran me around the same tile for a full ten minutes. Thankfully the tile was away from the 3 gens so whenever either of them tried to go work on a gen I'd chase them, but then they'd just run back to the same safe tile.
That tile came up again in a doc game, except this time on macmillian. I'm a new doc so I haven't quite worked out the timing on preventing vivors from vaulting with my shock, but it was a huge pain. Idk if something recent happened to that tile but survivors can loop for a really long time, and you're basically at their mercy. It's nice that my gen pressure was good enough that they weren't able to work on gens, but it came at the expense of chase pressure, which just means against survivors who know their loops you just have to go through the motions until someone makes a mistake or gets impatient.
-
I will say that new players are absolutely shafted in this game. The matchmaking is abysmal and every time they try and fix it it just gets worse. The grind is punishing for new players, only a small part of getting better is actually based on skill, a lot of it is just getting the right perk builds. Certain survivor perks are the difference between an easy game and an impossible game.
Play David and always run "we're going to live forever" and then unlock it as a teachable for other survivors. Run perks like borrowed time and we'll make it to synnergize with wglf, and just work on grinding bloodpoints. If you want to play killer, get BBQ and chili asap to grind BP. The game is much more fun once you have options.
-
the last time they tried mmr i remember liking it, idk what on earth they've done to it this time around, the game is literally unplayable for me
-
If I'm not mistaken, in the lore they share one knife between them, so the other three probably shouldn't be able to wound you, but it'd be helpful if they could interrupt mending or something, cause it feels like legion could use a little bit of help.
-
I had this experience as a pc player with trying to find a killer I felt I was good at. Pc players start with 5 killers, trapper, wraith, hillbilly, nurse, and huntress.
Trapper - easy to play mechanically, but impossible to do well once you move beyond rank 15, unless you dump an obscene amount of hours.
Wraith - a solid choice, especially since he was buffed recently, but boring to play a lot.
Hillbilly - also buffed relatively recently, but still has a steep learning curve and is addon dependent
Nurse - why is nurse base game. Literally the most inaccessible killer in the game.
Huntress - fairly straightforward but still difficult to learn for new players considering you have to learn killer mechanics and hatchet aiming.
And that's it, that's your choices. I had to wait til dlc were on sale to pick up spirit and legion who are way more beginner friendly.
This game needs a vast rework to actually retain players. It doesn't matter that the re chapter is going to attract new players if they quit once they realize the magnitude of the grind to play this game like most dedicated players.
-
On the one hand, giving survivors non-perk tools to make teamplay easier is a severe unbalance, but on the other hand, solo survivors have to take perks like bond, empathy, and aftercare when a swf can just say things like "the killer is on me" "i'm in the bathroom" "im on the main building gen" and not have to waste a perk.
I think giving solo survivors more teamplay tools means that the game can be balanced around the 4 survivors playing as a team rather than 4 distinct individuals. As it stands now, my skill as killer seems entirely dependent on whether or not all the red ranks in my game are in a discord call or not.
-
My favorite area of the lore revolves around Legion and how Jeff painted their mural, they disappeared, and then years later he also disappeared. There's lots of fanfic of the legion members coming across jeff and freaking out that so much time has passed
-
matchmaking is the number one thing holding this game back, number 2 being how unwelcoming it is to newcomers (the grind for someone starting now is absolutely insane, not to mention the number of dlc you'd wanna buy)
-
Yeah I'd love a sandbox mode cause trying to learn the mechanics of some of the more complicated killers is near-impossible with how random matchmaking can be. I was trying to learn ghostface as a rank 10 killer and i kept getting red ranks in my games taking advantage of the fact i was learning how his powers work.

MMR is not enabled yet, what you are experiencing is normal terrible matchmaking
Wait, really?
I've come back after a long break, I stopped playing around when Blight was released, and they had talked about non-rank based matchmaking and matchmaking tailored to which killer you picked rather than your overall killer rank/skill.
They still haven't actually...implemented that?

I am not a dev or anyone informed by them, most of this is my personal opinion and guesses.
- Their first attempt at doing the match making just kinda failed. After around a week no one really noticed anything. They took it down to improve it and we never heard of it again until a month or so again.
- Their second attempt of it was well... I couldn't play Spirit, Huntress, or Demodoggy without feeling like a heavy need to sweat all game just to get 1-2 kills. Now I don't need a 4k, but I don't want to feel sweaty to get a 2k. I play pretty fairly normally and would get 2-4 kills a game normally. If I played any other killer then those 3, I basically 4k'ed with ease every game.
So basically, it wasn't good enough the first time around and the second time I feel like it was to punishing. So I am guessing they are trying to find a middle ground between the two.
I was here for the first attempt and remember how frustrating it was that they took it away instantly. I guess I just assumed it had been added since I was gone since it seemed so close to being done.

As a rank 1 nurse main, I strongly disagree, and i KNOW they will never do that, instead, they're constantly increasing her skill ceiling because she get's a new bug every update, dead-blink-zones where you get stuck and last but definetely not least
Listen, The Nurse is Hell on earth when you're starting to play as her, I KNOW because i've been there, and i felt powerless even with the strongest killer.
She has the power to counter EVERY game mechanic related to survivor's defense, making her easier will never be a thing, in fact, they're constantly increasing her skill ceiling (nurse new cooldown last year), but they will never change her due to the people who spent months and years mastering her, is just not fair.
I also play a lot as a survivor, and tbh, the last time i was against a GOOD nurse, was prior to her rework.
YES, after the rework, a lot of mediocre old nurses became horrible nurses, therefore, they were forced to quit using her and moved on to other killers, that's why even at rank 1, you almost never will face a good nurse, they are almost extinct. (INTENDED BY THE DEVS)
I also get your frustration, but using her nowadays is a reward for the hardest thing this game has to offer. Still, VERY good survivors, can still mindgame you if don't have line of sight. Even with the nurse, Gen rushing is real, and if they decide to hide, you'll most likely lose. I've lost many games as nurse because they hid, or gen rushed pretty hard.
But 90% of my games are sweaty 4K, I ASSURE YOU, it's not EASY, and it's an ongoing challenge and very pleasing. After the rework, i had to re-learn her, it actually gave players an insight of when to use 2 blinks, or 1, and wait your blinks while you can see the survivor you're chasing and knowing what he's doing.
My advice: Master using both blinks (second is always useful for chases) NEVER traverse the map with 2 blinks, if you find one you need the extra one. And never blink without clear sight of where the survivor is going, if they break line of sight, blink to the last position you saw them and wait for the short 1 blink fatigue. There's few content regarding the nurse, and a lot of the guides were made prior to the rework.
How would you feel if for years you master a certain thing, and just because newer players can't do well with it, they change it. I would feel horrible, i already felt bad when they reworked her, just imagine making her easy to use.. :/
im sorry you spent so much sweat getting really good at a thing that shouldn't have been so hard to begin with, but you're proving my point. if only 1% of players can use her effectively and that's only after basically being hazed by game mechanics until they git gud, and then can have that "progress" swept out from under them if the devs adjust her at all, then why bother having such a niche, punishing killer? Is there even dbd esports? Why have a killer that the average player has no reason to play, and even the <100 people who can play her well could also easily play just as well with every other killer on the roster because they're good players due to training on the most punishing-to-play killer in the roster?
Give her just the single blink and increase her base speed to be more in line with other killers and now she's a unique killer that the average player can play without having to bang their head against a brick wall til it breaks
-
as a pc player there's defs toxic red rank survivors on pc but as a killer i've also found ones that im pretty sure are console, altho they could've been silent windows store players i guess. I don't know why windows store and steam are considered crossplay, they really need to start telling us what platform people are on instead of just "not yours." Or at least tell us if they can see chat or not.
Anyway i feel like an easier fix for this would be to enable kb+m on console. Should be possible on ps4 and xbone, dunno if switch is able to do it tho.
-
That might also remind me to fill that out after every match. I usually only do it when it's a frustrating match cause I need something to vent with. If it's a good match sometimes I'll give props tho.
-
Has happened to me multiple times, different survivors and maps but always the large rock hill. The lower right corner can trap two survivors, and the top edge of the hill (near the center) can trap a survivor as well if they're crouching. There's no way to unstick yourself, you have to wait for the killer to down you and pick you up and carry you away
-
I came back to the game after rage-uninstalling a couple weeks ago now that matchmaking "changed"
I decided to play trapper cause I figure the default killer mmr is probably pretty high, and trapper is fairly weak (especially considering he's only level 28 for me) so I'll have to lose a few games with him anyway to get the mmr down to a level I can play him and have fun.
I instantly could tell that it matched me with reds, it's so easy to tell from chasing someone what rank they are. rank may not equal skill (it does) but it equals map awareness and these dudes were looping me endlessly.
Ended game with no kills and one hook. as I suspected, three red ranks and their rank 16 friend (I'm also rank 16 lol).
The default mmr should be much, much lower. Make people rank up their mmr, don't make people who are already bad at the game feel like ######### for 10+ matches. I can't imagine what someone's first ten games as killer would be if my fresh killer game was with 3 reds who literally ran circles around me.
-
Yeah I just had a match with a meg who would just 360 every time i was in range and vanish and it made me so mad (i thankfully killed her but she wasted my time and then in the postgame was mad because i killed her). For a game that's an homage to horror movies, I don't understand why "turn around and run straight at the killer" continues to be an encouraged strategy.
They need to change the movement mechanics so that this isn't as effective. Maybe make survivors faster when they're moving in a straight line and then slow them down when they're turning, like realistic movement.
-
I had assumed that the cake was the only event item (this is my first event) but one of my webs spawned a flashlight the other day and i realized there were other items. What's the point of these items if nobody uses them because they're so rare?
-
by endgame do you mean the post-5gen part of the match or do you mean the endgame of the metagame where you have all the perks you want on the characters you want to play?
-
Yeah, i bought legion recently cause i love the look of them but as a killer they're dead in the water. For a killer, they do not kill. Their kit in no way is built for killing, it's simply built for maiming, which doesn't help anything when 4 survivors can make such quick work of gens. Hitting someone with feral frenzy who is already injured or has a deep wounds timer should just down them, that seems like the most obvious improvement.
I understand that running around cutting all the survivors will technically give me a pip more often than not, but without addons legion is too weak, even if you spend the time grinding to get good perks on him like nurse's calling and ruin. He simply can't keep up with 4 survivors who are faster than him
-
Yeah as a new person, it doesn't make sense to ever prestige a character and lose all their perks when getting the character build just right will take 50 levels plus another 30 or so extra levels on top of that. Either perks need to be a la carte or you should get more perks per level of bloodweb. Trying to put useful perks like wglf, prove thyself, and bbq on all my survivors/killers is maddening. And with the ranking system, im forced to play the few characters i have good perks on instead of playing literally anyone else that i paid for.
-
I've seen boil over in action both on switch and on pc, and it seems drastically more effective on switch than it does on pc. I've used boil over in a kyf game or two and it doesn't seem nearly as effective as it does on switch. But if there's no mechanical differences then I'm willing to say I'm imagining it, but the perception is there.
-
here's my contributions as a newb, hopefully killer will be more fun in the new matchmaking system
