Just wondering in what situations slugging is justified from other people point of view.

    This is the situation:

I played some killers i hadnt really touched before today and got matched up with a "bully squad" swf of 3 flashlights and a toolbox. The person i hooked really unluckily walked into me again afterwards during my nightfall (and they were injured) so I relatively quickly got a person who would be dead on hook.

I then got to play a little gen patroling back and forth where i would kick gens with call of brines and try to get a quick hit but not commit to too many chases as the gens were near the houses with very difficult loops. I then got a free hit on the person dead on hook and commited to the chase since they were injured and dead on hook so i figured it was worth to commit to, and naturally when i downed him i got swarmed by flashlighting teammates. So i didnt pick them up immediately and got another hit on someone trying to flashlight saveand then picked up the dead on hook person, got body blocked and got 2 more hits (one of which was a down). As soon i dropped the dead on hook survivor, I didnt pick up the downed person but went for the other flashlight survivor around as the guy dead on hook ran off.

I did that because I knew the survs wouldnt let me alone and pick up anyone. This repeated multiple times troughout the game as they were sweating for flashlight saves whenever someone was near dead on hook or they just happened to be around when i got a down.

Got called out and insulted for slugging at the end of the match - but what else is a killer supposed to do to deal with flashlights? Are survivors crybabies that want me to voluntarily be part of their flashlight montage or am I overlooking some way to dodge all kinds of flashlight saving that is supposed to be done instead of slugging and going for the flashlighting survs...

For me it often in situations where I am in a bad situations or if im playing oni and my power is still active

Giving clown 125% m/s seems terrible...Without the downside of survivors being able to also use the cloud and the rather short delay on it that seems really broken... Most tiles are designed around 115% m/s ... This makes them really unsafe but does not really add much strategy to it... As clown will be basically as fast as pre-buff wraith was while cloaked...

I don't really understand what your second change is supposed to do? Is it basically a stun with a delay?

So what it dose is allow him to apply some sort of pressure form afar more at a distance and then alot up close because he could hit you with a direct stink bottle hit you shortly after and you would eat the small stun like maybe .5s or 1s

While given him slight info on survivor's movements because of the trail cause by the stink bottles

And the speed bottle needs him to fully charge yhe bottle inorder to gain the speed basically making the 1s delay into the charge time

  • @Barbarossa2020 said:

I don't play survivor much but i am trying, so there's no need to call me a bot or a zombie, i may get stuck on a stick or a bush but im genuinely neither of those things.

    Lol

  • @Nos37 said:

I had a gen at 99.9% (honestly thought the gen was done) when I was hit by Doctor's Blast. He came to the gen, so I ran two tiles away to Snap Out. When I got back to the gen, I failed the Overcharge skillcheck waiting for me, and the progress bar was now at 55%! (40 more seconds of repairs)

    I'm not angry... I'm disgusted.

The interstellar quote came to mind... "Well, this little maneuver's gonna cost us 51 years!"

That's one small Snap Out for man, one giant setback for gen-kind...

    ----

No, there was no Pop I didn't consider. His 4 perks were Opression, Overcharge, Dead Lock, and Onryo's skillcheck spam perk.

That is impossible maybe it could drop to 80 or 75% because of the skillcheck bit that's like 18s on the gen

  • 3 changes 1 fully charging a bottle allows the clown to drink the bottle by pressing ability 2 buton gaining the speed that normal yellow bottles have

2 Clown now has stink bottles when thrown creates this green trail behind surivors ( kinda like the blught trail but green)

That will disappear after 30s of moving around but if he hits them directly with it 3s after the survivor will stop to vomit

3 clown carries 6 bottles that can be used any way he sees fit

So he could use 6 slow bottles or 6 stink bottles or 3 slows and 3 speed drinks

  • @Starrseed said:

Well I sure hope so. If they manage to make a bot play blight and actually bounce around there is no excuse to let this two rotting stupids run any longer into walls

Well bots are only surivors right now but that's no excuse for it not to improve zombies ai because all that have to do is walk

  • Please all I want is a simple code that is literally a if than statement

If zombie 01 dosent move for x seconds then chose position

    ( x,y) to go to

    You're a legend.

To expand on that: Not really. Higher skilled folks who already have the timing down won't notice much of a difference- they've already mastered the timing. The bigger challenge at that point is getting into position in time to get a save. If the killer knows how to play around flashlights, that becomes more difficult since they can face a wall or turn the other way.

If your get into position early, nothing changes. You could have waited the extra 0.25 seconds out and gotten the blind even without it.

If you get there late, you still do not get the blind.

More than anything, it makes them easier to learn and feel better to use. This more of less compensates for the inability to adjust your timing after the cooldown was added.

I would have to to try it before I could say anything but if it's to long Maybe .15s

  • Welcome to the discovery of bias not everything is good bad or neutral

Being truly neutral is almost impossible you would have to of never used something and yet understand everything about it it is near impossible

So your right but I have 1 question ... who asked

  • Maybe maybe not the only thing that would change is movement speed

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

It would be interresting to see what would happen if all movement speeds were increased by 1m/s across the board.

The time to catch up would remain the same but killers would be able to traverse the map faster and survivors would be less likely to get stuck in a deadzone as they will be more likely be able to reach a nearby pallet/ window

It would also make mindgames more powerfull cause the survivors reaction time will stay the same.

I think it's impossible to say if it would be better or worse without playtesting it.

That said this would make maps artificially smaller and that is a change many people suggest so it could be worth trying

1ms might be too much but it would allow bhvr to be creative with bigger maps

most of the maps currently are to big for killers to care about certain places so this might sute them better and the smaller maps could have some renovation even if its just filler tiles

  • @HellDescent said:

Killers would just miss more hits and survivors would run into obstacles

  • @supersonic853 said:

It had a good rep in the ptb but was a little busted. Now its been out for a good while. Camping seems about the same before and after its inception. For me its the fact getting within 6 meters is a death sentance. And unless your a swf (which already is more effective against camping) it's soloq benefits are null. So i wonder what could happen to actually make do its job better. What do you think?

    2 things

1 it got a small nerf to prevent holding a hooked surivor hostage

2 nobody runs it anymore don't know why

Does this perk work also on Survivors that are trying to heal downed Survivors? Does it make it more difficult / slower to pick up someone from the ground?

Yes but it dose not slow down recovery speed

  • @supersonic853 said:

With the new archives ive been playing ghostface a bit. He seems fun but i don't know what a good build would be. He's completly m1 in chase so id guess chase perks is the go to? Also find it very difficult to get marks sometimes. So any advice from people who actually play him? And this might be helpful to others picking him up for the challenges.

I've been running lethal deadlock BBQ and call of brine

2 of the perks are pure info to position your self

call of brine allows you regress gens and acts like surveillance so you can make kick8ng worth it and dead lock to stall gens

Addons Philly (brown) to give people less time to notice you

Drop knife keg sheith ( putple) to close the gap when you mark someone

They feel like an actual monster, has really cool and creative skins, but it seems nobody really cares about them. I say this because I rarely see any streamers or content creators play them and rarely see them around as survivor.

Are they just really underwhelming? Is it an aesthetics thing?

I don't have them unlocked atm, but I really like them from what I've seen.

I'm one of the few who still play him

Also, just a heads up: we actually do have a polls option for the forum! The main upside of this is that it's much easier than writing your pick out in the comments (easier to participate), plus you automatically see how many percent of people voted for what without having to comb the comments manually.

at these remote times we need basekit Kindred for Solo Q, the camping and tunneling is out of the charts... people need some help, ofc this is not fixing tunneling or camping AND NO PERK can do such thing, what some perks used to do was penalizing it GREATLY like DS before nerf by hard punishing it and also was Off the record during PTB penalizing greatly the extreme focus in survivors and then got nerfed and now deactivates if a surv gets hit in the 10 seconds window wich means if said survivor is hit immediately after getting unhook he will barely be able to do anything because off the record is gone (and it shouldnt, but that is another topic)... but Kindred? should be basekit, survivors need information during these times were the game has become harder than ever for solo q, SWF always had it and forever will... this is important so at least survs can make better decisions when they see a face camper and not waste time unnecessarily

I feel like base kindred should just reveal surivors auras

  • Please I want this as a feature

Title. Or at LEAST one or two perks to mess with the survivors heads using TR altering perks. Nothing scares me more than a Killer that can really utilize perks that throw off the TR. It's one of my favorite things to do as Killer, especially when I can use it in chase to cut off where I correctly predict a survivor to be going by waiting in the doorway and jump-scaring them. That stuff startles me like nothing else in this game can, and I wish I got to experience it more from the other end (survivor).

    What do you all think?

Do you often play this style as Killer?

Do you wish more Killers used this?

I wish there were more good stealth killer that try to scare people nit like wraith

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

I really did think the community would at least have some level of maturity, or have the ability to read a single sentence, but I guess the DbD community proved me wrong.

    What exactly was changed?

    • Flashlights are having a buffer time added as well as some other smaller changes to make the game more accessible to those with photosensitivity and epilepsy.

This is of course a good thing, it makes the game more accessible and available to all, but some people are upset that they now cannot click their flashlights. But overall clicking your flashlight had almost zero effect over gameplay at all for a majority of people, and this change will still have almost zero effect over gameplay for a majority of people. This change only effects a minority group, but it still is a positive change for the community and game.

Let's look at some of the common arguments I see against the flashlight changes:

    • "Oh but there are other issues that cause seizures, they just hit flashlights on purpose," just because there are issues does not mean it wont be fixed, it takes steps towards making the game better, and this is just a small step forward. BHVR is known for rolling out changes over time instead of releasing everything all at once, just look at the map reworks from 2020-2021 for example.
    • "Oh but people with photosensitivity or epilepsy should not play a game if they fear having seizures," people bring up this argument and not only is it insensitive but overall just proves the lack of empathy of others. People should not be excluded from something they enjoy because of such.
    • "But they are catering to a minor part of the community," and who cares? It's more people playing the game, more people interact with, more people that can enjoy something they otherwise couldnt before. It would be selfish to not want these changes because you are admitting that you only want yourself to be catered to, and not anyone else.

If you are actually upset by the flashlight changes, as much as I hate to say it, grow up, go outside, touch grass, because these changes make the game better and allow more people to be able to play without health risks.

Thank you for this I just saw the post about bhvr arming this by using it to nerf flashlights never been more furious at a human being if I can even call someone with that moral one.

    Thanks random citizen

  • @SmarulKusia said:

This isn't the first time. Don't get me wrong, I don't care for the flashlight changes, I use them too infrequently to be too impacted.

But can we stop using people as an excuse to nerf things in the game? If you want to nerf flashlights whether to prevent BM or to just nerf it, just say it. Don't give a lame excuse about how this is a change for the section of the community that suffers from epilepsy, if you had cared enough, you would've listened to that part of the community if not 5 years ago, then 4, 3 or even 2.

We get it, you want to buff killer, we get it. We really do. But don't do it by trying to make it seem as if this is because you care for the community.

    Here's to put some prospective

:situation: your fighting a killer let's say Myers he's struggling 1 gen left everyone starts bullying him click clack clicking the flashlight in his face.

He "rage quits" and afk for the rest of the match" this is what you saw

From his point of view he was doing poor and allready mad because of it and then you start clicking your flashlight with some other people and

his. "Rage quit" afk was really him having a seizure because somebody had to satisfy their ego. putting someone else in several pain or even a life threatening situation because you just wanted to push the little funny button.

I've met some people I've disagreed with but you are so far the only person I dislike.

Ps nobody believes your fasud of this change dosent really affect me but ohhh how it nerfs me.

  • @RickSanchez said:

I think the end game collapse should start when the last generator is completed, i think it makes sense and its fair since this is when survivors are the most cocky, p.s im a survivor main so im not complaining it just feels unfair for the killer

It should go at half speed untill open then play like normal

this would give a chance to hatch plays for surivors to make a play and either Bait the killer by 1 lighting a door and running to another or testing luck for a key

  • @Brokenbones said:

Just got done reading the patch notes and I want to ask:

Was the Finisher mori system actually planned to go live with this next update and you suddenly changed your minds and created this scenario where it can both be tested without it going live or was this mid chapter always essentially nothing but bug fixes? Was this also because of "Production constraints" as mentioned in the patch notes?

Far be it from me to complain about optimisation and bug fixes, but would they need a PTB specifically for just those two things?

Where is this list of changes I can't find it

  • @Raccoon said:

Not really looking for an explanation, just moreso gauging people's expectations before things play out on the PTB tomorrow.

So, do YOU think it will end up being Killer Sided or Survivor Sided?

Personally, I think it will actually be Killer Sided!

LAY IT ON ME, FRIENDOS :D

I don't know the slugging changes tell me that it's gonna be surivor Sided but we don't know all of the changes so it might be fair

I'm aware of No Way Out and that it tells you when a gates opened, but I don't really want to run a single perk to cover me and I won't learn like that.

So you want an item, where people can use a flashlight macro to make instant flashlight saves? Because that is what people would do with it.

2 things 1 it's not instant because of rng there's a chance of it just not working or it just explodes like a flashbang

2 if it were to explode it would of been done to early for a proper flashlight save just blinding everyone for like 4s and they lose the charges in the item

This flashlight is more for using at pallets and windows than saving because of its faulty build but can be used as a last ditch effort and hope it explodes leaving everyone that looks at it blind including the user

  • @WeakestNurseMain said:

Keeping things vague, is something that we sadly have to do - we feel the frustration with regards to cheating the same way you do, we play the game, we see these matches happening.
