Was the grade system really be any better, though? Genuinely would like to know because I didn't play before they added SBMMR. Do you think matchmaking should be totally random, or do you want a return of the old grade system?
I mean, with the old system wouldn't you get ultra sweaty games at the start of each season as everyone races back to the Iri ranks? And it would surely be worse for the lower ranks, because there would effectively be no MMR whatsoever for the first week or so of the season before players played enough to settle into their correct ranks.
I personally think it would be better to remove de-pipping from the current grade system (except as a DC punishment) to at least mitigate some of the sweatiness. Because right now you get a season that's bookended by sweaty games at the start (the race to Iri) and also at the end (for those players who still haven't played enough to hit the Iri grades). I think no de-pipping would mean most players should make it to an Iri grade without too much sweat.
Like, why go to the trouble of hiding rank from us but keep a grade system that still incentivises sweaty play? It makes no sense to me.
It does feel like MMR is absent from the game most of the time. It only took a handful of 4K games on my switch account to begin facing the level of Survivors I usually get on a 750+ hour Steam account. I guess maybe I passed a smurf check? I dunno. But lots of new Killers will suddenly hit a brick wall if that's a typical experience.
There was for a while before MMR you wouldn't see tunneling and camping as frequently as you do now. You could hop on a match on either side and just have a chill match and you could enjoy every killer.
-
You fix it by removing SBMM. There was still games where people camped and tunneled hardcore back in the day but, it wasn't as common as it is now. The trash talking you can't do much about as that'll be in every multiplayer game but, MMR you can do something about and it would have games be more fun as Killer and Survivor cause it wouldn't be like a comp match all the time.

Yesterday I literally had a 300h player in my lobby getting replaced (drop out) by a 3000h player. It happened right before my eyes :D
Nature at work is awesome and humbling.
The curse of MMR being in DBD. Can't enjoy it as much as it once was cause it's now a comp scene the majority of games you play Killer or Survivor.
-
Simple anwser MMR/SBMM. Makes people play more sweaty on both sides. Before MMR there was way less tunneling and camping back in the day now it's everywhere.

I don't care if it's a hot or bad take but they overbuffed her from PTB, she's awful to go against I haven't escaped or lost a game as/against her, it might be easiest killer in the game now relative to her strength
drones have zero cooldown, you get haste/ bloodlust permanently, passive injure and hindered effects, it's impossible to not get hit no tile is safe, smaller maps are gg next you can cover entire map with drones, I want to see her killrate after 1 or 2 months
I think Haste overall needs some tweaking not on Skull Merchant but, on everything perks and killers cause every bit of haste perk or base kit is stacking on top of everything.

Predator is more than likely it. Sucks it's just a paragraph Naru from Prey would have made a cool survivor.
If they keep up with the Sci-Fi theme they've been doing this year it's the most likely one.

@XshyguyX said:
Predator would only be good with him Arnold and the jungle map
I'm not sure if we'd get another woods map. I get we don't have a jungle as a map but, we have Shelter Woods and Mother's Dwelling which are perfect environments which fit the predator vibes.

Hit it out the park with this one. BHVR doesn't care if survivors are majorly impacted - they only care about their cry baby killers.
I think you should read this comment. There's some things there that have been kill switched on the killer side.
@BlightedDolphin said:

They kill switched Wesker and Dredge because they could turn invisible yet they haven’t kill switched Blast Mine which can do the same thing right now.
They never kill switched Red Forest when there was a fat shaming spot that could be used to hold the killer hostage.
So no, they don’t just kill switch things that only affect killers.
-
@rvzrvzrvz said:
they only killswitch if it affects killers, xeno can block hook in crawler mode and literally "facecamp" to death but you don't see them use killswitch on xeno, or even his tail slowdown bug
I've yet to see a Xeno do that and what is the tail slowdown bug I've not heard of that?
-
@Steakdabait said:
Well i will agree that not killswitching merciless was pretty unbelievably stupid but that doesn't justify not preventing ppl from abusing this bug
I'm not justifying the bug. This thing needed to be kill switched definitely as only Pyramid Head was the only one who could 100% counter it.

Feedback for each:
Trapper: These are great and what really stands out is the reasoning for the effects. Of course a survivor will move a bit slower after escaping, because of the pain! The only minor tweak would be to have the survivor suffer from hemorrage, regardless of whether picked up or hit down and forget about the extra wiggle (although this is again just my envisioning what a survivor would be once ripped out of a trap). This is a rather brilliant update, so kudos!
Shape: I like how it adds an element of impending doom to proceedings regarding the faster break speeds. The Undetectable takes away from that a bit though, and especially someone with a Tombstone piece would be rather unfair to spring out of nowhere. I'd rather remove the Undetectable, and instead increase his movement speed and terror radius a bit more. Again it adds that fear of what will happen, makes him more threatening, but at least gives survivors a fighting chance before Tier 3 hits.
Hag: Yeah, this is fine. No issue here, although in return I'd nerf the speed factor of her Iridescent shoe add-on (not sure of the name). Otherwise it's good.
Nightmare: Again, a solid suggestion. I like how you focused on speed, especially since Freddy wants survivors in his dream realm for as long as possible. Reducing speed to actions also makes running to get that alarm clock or being woken up more important. Freddy could also do with some more dream effects too, such as totems which may grab and try to hold the survivor in place for a bit (idea from when Freddy's tongue comes out of the phone in the movie) and some small changes such as this.
Pig: Once again, great to see some other ways of thinking for Pig. She could have bigger effects when focusing on trapping gens and exit gates (mechanical changes), and more basic things such as pallets could simply have her tying them up so survivors have to loosen them to drop it, or maybe set trip wires on vaults which survivors can dismantle, or jump over and scream, revealing their location
Ghost Face: Everything is good, albeit if somebody reveals him out of a stalk then they shouldn't be punished as a result. Ignore that little extra stalk top-up, but the rest is fine.
Deathslinger: Yup, reducing the terror radius is the way to go for good ol' Caleb!
Executioner: Exactly the same as many others once. I did an add-on overhaul I'll try to remember to add into this after editing.
[edit: here were my add-on ideas: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/378466/the-executioner-add-ons-rethink#latest
Blight: Yup, change those 2 add-ons. He's strong enough without the added headache these put on.
Twins: I feel they need a more substantial chamge, but I couldn't tell you what that would be. At least you're offering a buff, but they need a more robust change overall.
Nemesis: This works like your Myers take, which again adds a sense of dread and intimidation to the ever-evolving Nemesis. These make sense to me. Great change!
Mastermind: I wouldn't be averse to this. It's neither here nor there for me, but this is such a small change there's no reason not to.
Skull Merchant: This will male the drones more doverse and gets rid of the more unfair aspects of her 3-gen strategy. I like this. Then again, any change to reducing the effectiveness I'd like. The exposed status is a bit of a joke, so glad to see this done.
Singularity: Hux does this in the cinematic, doesn't it? It's surprising this is not an option, although perhaps it's to do with collision in more narrow areas. However, sticking a glob in an open area sounds perfectly acceptable!
Overall, some fantastic changes! Please apply for the DBD team as soon as you can.
I'm glad you enjoy the changes and I would apply for the team but, I think I would just keep bringing up the suggestion to remove SBMM from the game lol.

That’s not really how you play blight. He’s not a hit and run killer. And that would be very situational. Say I use all 5 rushes to get a hit. By the time my tokens recharge, I’ll have 2 seconds of undetectable. It’s an addon I would never use.
Not to mention.. He has Vigo’s Journal, which makes him undetectable while rushing.
Yeah he does have Vigo's Journal but, Ring at that point you'd want to hit them with your 2nd dash mainly it'd be a more strategic addon.
-
@HugTechLover said:
Some pretty nice changes. The only thing I don’t like is blight’s addon changes, specifically alch ring. That change would simply render the addon useless. 12 seconds of undetectable isn’t really anything blight needs.
That was basically old tinker except old tinker notified you when the gen was about to pop and with this because he's so fast you'd get your power back and run off to hunt another survivor.
-
@Xxjwaynexx said:
Those actually aren't bad at all kudos lol

Here's the best idea for MMR...Delete it. Problem solved we can have DBD back the way it used to be in some way only difference is old maps are different now and there's a lot more killers now after MMR's release.
-
Knight for me. At first I thought he was the worst killer to ever be released but, then I gave him more of a chance and kept playing him more and more after he launched and realized he's actually decent if you play your cards right with him. Then Skull Merchant dropped and now she's my least favourite killer to play as and against.
Survivor for me would probably be Jill and Laurie because I really loved Laurie's character in the recent Halloween trilogy and Jill won me over with her character in RE 3 for how skillful she is at getting her job done.

use Iri Queen with monitor and Distressing plus the purple calm add on on The Game and use static Blast in chase:)
As I see this comment I just actually had that exact game happen just without Monitor. lol
-
@Firellius said:
You may need to use that add-on that allows shocked survivors to shock other, nearby survivors?
Yeah I'm thinking Iri Queen might be the play.
-
Springwood and Garden definitely need some major changes Ormond could maybe use 1 change. Sure th building can be a problem but, the map overall now is still mostly fine and not as bad as it's old version.

Where is midwitch? it needs a rework.
It's in Could Use 1 or 2 changes at the end.

@FridayNightPizza said:
Ouch, the next map isn't even out yet, I didn't play the ptb, how bad is it?
It's really bad. There's to much environment in the map that can hinder a lot of the Killers. For Survivor it just seems to clutered needs more room.

Out of 10 games a day, I don't see a single survivor selecting this perk.
I don't see it a lot either but, the times I have seen it as killer or when I use it it still does a decent job at hiding you unless you're exhaustead then it's usless but, I prefer not using exhaustion perks.
-
The perk is still solid now I don't think it needs to be reverted back to it's old self.

God I'm getting old.
Slender games just never did it for me, walking jumpscare horror games were never for me. I remember vaguely thinking the Slender lore could be alright with fleshing out into an actual character, but it never really progressed and then Blair Witch got a revive and offered the same feel with better presentation. Then kids started committing Slender based IRL crimes and the trash movie is when I knew that Slenderman had jumped the shark and fell off a cliff.
They didn't do the movie justice sadly. So much was cut from the film that it lost it's potential very fast. If the movie was inspired by the actual story of the game or other medias it could've been better. However, the idea of the movie was unique we've not seen this kind of format in Slender but, it just didn't cut it.

@ReikoMori said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/375709/another-stalking-killer
This would be absolutely one of the worst chapters. Slenderman was scary for like a day in 2016 now it's just a dead meme with weird licensing issues and basically not a single consistent power portrayal in any media featuring it.
If you're referring to his terrible movie I can agree with you it wasn't very scary. However, when it was 2012 up to 2014 this was what kept people interested cause his original game The Eight Pages and The Arrival which is still decently creepy to this day.

@Krazzik said:
They intentionally keep trash in the bloodweb as filler. If they let you just trade it back in for BP it'd be pointless.
Yes but, you could get your prestige's faster and when new content drops you can get the bp to throw in those characters to get the perks for the other killers.
-
@RaSavage42 said:
Yes... I even made a suggestion to have a marketplace in the game to buy, sell and trade thing in
That's a good idea and it should happen.
-
@Blueberry said:
I think that stems from a bigger issue which is tons of bad/useless addons and offerings. A lot of them need improvements.
I can agree with the addons but, I don't think they should be part of the trading imo. As some weird addons make the game interesting and some are just worthless and should be reworked.
The offerings though some could make the game interesting like the mist but, coins, oaks, hatch, basement, and especially map offerings can just make the game really dull and boring depending what the survivor team brings and what killer you're against.
-
@Chaos999 said:
Would rather see a quick spend feature.
Hold the middle node to let the game decide what you get and immediately move to the next lvl.
Perhaps with an option to prioritize new perks or a single bloodweb addon, item or offering.
The quick spend feature I think should already be in this game since spending a million bp can take like 10 mins or something around there from what I've heard.
-
@TheArbiter said:
Did anyone say you cant win matches as weaker killers? Obviously it will be harder but personal skill is the biggest difference.
There's been a few people saying it's impossible to win with weaker killers and maybe they're just trolling or they don't want to put the time and effort into it.
-
I always own up if I messed up in a game but, I know a lot of other players like to blame other people for loosing when in fairness they didn't do any better or they made a mistake and blame the others for it.

Going to be honest as a semi-fan of the series, if this was the only FNAF reference DBD was ever going to get, i'd be pretty happy
It'd be pretty cool Enard could maybe fit with the dredge as well possibly.

Another idea in which I never saw people talking about is having the 4 mascots. The idea of the of gang is tied to Legion using masks like the FNAF 4 bullies but personally I want to give the mascot skins to the 4 original killers like Trapper as Freddy, Wraith as bonnie, Nurse as Chica and Billy and Foxy. Heck u can throw in Golden Freddy and Marionette for Huntress and Doctor
It's not a bad idea but, maybe put the masks on the Survivors instead of the killers.
-
@Triplehoo said:
How about no. Play FNAF, instead of DbD if you want those.
I do both I still want it in DBD.

Another idea i really like that i saw someone post here on the forums is Molten Freddy for The Dredge. I think that would be perfect, i asked for that in the most recent player satisfaction survey.
edit : here it was
That's honestly not a bad idea that's smart. Maybe throw the Blob in there for Dredge as well.

Everyone has been quiet which has been nice cause when it was speculated it got very toxic a lot of the time cause everyone would just fight about it.

@igotskiz said:
It's a cool idea that letting go would regress it a bit, but 8% is too much. Maybe 1%/2%/3%, since it's already good as it is. On the other hand, a regression bonus every time you let go would enable griefers to ruin gens, so that's going to be a no. Maybe if it's on a cooldown or only works a certain amount of times per gen per trial.
Remember the Hex totem could get destroyed instantly in the game and also 8% ain't that much since when we kick a gen it's 2.6% and it doesn't do a lot already. However it could maybe get rid of the Call of Brine and Eruption meta as kicking gens isn't to fun.
-
@Blueberry said:
Honestly just revert it’s nerf, that’s all it needs, super easy. No one really thought Ruin needed nerfs, it was just gutted for the sake of its popularity and wanting to change the meta. Ruin didn’t need to be nerfed, we just needed other options buffed.
Yeah true it didn't need the nerf.
-
Call of Brine and Overchareg when Overcharge got the buff in the ptb meta change 600% regression.
-
@Gamall said:
I never understood why people thought he was a weak and useless killer. It is a killer that has to be used differently than the others, you need strategy and to know well the various loops in which to use its power. Basically he is the anti-loop par excellence, many loops are completely unsafe and useless in his presence, just activate and release the guard immediately and the rest comes by itself. He is also one of the best at defending a 3-gen and also a decent hook defender. It is definitely much more boring to play against him than to play him himself.
I don't mind playing against him but, I get why people don't like him I think also people abusing his exploits when he released gives him a bad view for most players.
