Killers dont get BP for abandoning? I've never done it but I assumed they did since survivors do (I think?)

Personally I've always felt you should clean up the mess you made. An extra minute or two to solidify a win isn't that big of an ask.

The concern I have with this is that there will be players who will take advantage of it and purposely play to try and make survivors DC until the entire team has left and the killer gets the rewards without even having to properly win the game

There are already people who do this and abandon to smurf.

Killers keep the BP they earned during the game, but what the OP is referring to is that by abandoning, the killer misses out on the hooking/sacrificing blood points they would have earned from hooking the survivor.

Personally I think the fact that abandoning counts as a loss is the bigger issue. I don't know how it affects MMR currently, but I think at that point if everyone has left/died, then it should count as a win so it can't be abused.

Can confirm. I'm in Western Australia and often wind up over on the SEA servers. On that server they're less likely to play risky for sure, in that you're unlikely to see them trying to "hide" nearby injured and moaning loud asf with a flashlight in hand. They don't ignore team mates in need, they just don't care to make stupid plays because they'd prefer to survive. On the flipside, on the Aussie server, people don't care if they die doing something stupid, they'll take the risk on the chance of pulling off a good play.

Also wouldn't be surprised if Asian servers escape rate is actually higher and us in Australia are bringing it down hahaha

  • @dangersmymidd1ename said:

I have not seen enough matches on the Asian servers to comment in detail, but in countries like Japan where society places importance on social and moral norms and values, I can imagine that playing DbD according to the intended mechanics is a high priority. So perhaps the lower Jason KR could indicate that hard tunnelling and holding M2 with a spear pointed at the hook, are not considered sportsmanlike or polite.

I’m Australian and get put into Asian servers frequently, The reason Jason has a lower kill rate is Asian server is more than likely just because Asian server survivors are incredibly good at the game and take it more seriously. The difference between playing a game on Australian servers and then an Asian server game is very obvious.

And they definitely aren’t selfish like some of the comments here have been wondering. They arent altruistic in the way Western servers are with flashlights and throwing games by body blocking for no reason. However they play well together and Shoulder the Burden is a VERY common perk.

(Do note this is SEA servers I’m talking about, I don’t know how Japan and Korean servers are)

  • Hoping this just means they have found another avenue to license Slenderman through, maybe through the actual Slenderman license rather than MH.

Alot of my downs are from spike followed by M1. ANOTHER nice thing to note is you can M1 survivors pinned to walls to proc surge. This actually let's you proc it over and over if ya want to keep swinging, although I just tend to stick with 1.

I was not aware of that interaction! Surely being able to proc it over and over is a bug though haha

Meh, Im just kinda benifiting cuz the stuff ppl have been complaining about isn't really anything I use anyway. If they nerf his synergy with full hex builds for example, they'll PROBABLY try to balance it out. I highly doubt my setup will be seeing any nerfs, and more likely...buffs. With the anti-camp no longer applying to alternate floors for example, I now got rid of the only annoyance of playing on RPD and Midwich as him.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6V2IPHOLG351/1000002422.jpg

Kinda wondering if they'll buff Spies with the upcoming changes...

Yeah and if they nerf his Hex synergy, he’ll still be good honestly. And it wont affect your build either since you’ve only got one Hex perk that’s easily swappable with another slowdown.

And Spies buff would be cool.

Can i ask what is your reasoning with Surge on him though? His spikes dont trigger it and a lot of your downs would be with them. Is it because it works with Ruin?

  • He’s alright, probably mid tier. Slightly worse now because of pallet density.

However I love him as he is because he can utilise perks better than most killers with much more versatility.

M1 perks work on him, but unlike other M1 killers he can actually use them pretty well because he has mobility, stealth, and a decent chase power. Getting at least one hit isn’t an issue for Wraith.

Perks that require mobility work well on him. He can run gen kick perks because you don’t waste as much time kicking with him. Exposed perks work great because he has mobility, stealth, and is a basic attack. Perks that would otherwise be mediocre are less situational when you have stealth. He can use tracking perks well because of his mobility and stealth.

Whenever I want to try out a fun perk build, Wraith is usually my go to because of how most perks just work better on him.

  • New Killer Idea: The Slop.

Power: Dashes forward. Gains Undetectable while doing so. Can also throw bear traps that they themselves can’t step in.

I've been playing him basically non-stop and sauna rock's duration was obviously gonna get hit, lol. The only reason it was 13 seconds to begin with is cuz they wanna shove that number into as much stuff as they can. Since I've been running sleeping bag and enjoying the buff IT got, im not exactly too hung up on the nerf anyone should have seen coming.

Of course it was, it was way too strong. I never used it anyway so I’m not hung up on it either.

But that doesn’t change what I said though.

I'm looking through the survivors trying to figure it out, maybe Michonne with Last stand, otherwise potentially Gabriel with Scavenger? I really don't think it's all that common an occurrence, I think people really overstate this idea of bhvr regularly gutting new perks or killers. Numbers wise it just doesn't happen that much.

I agree, even killer wise there aren’t really any that got nerfed massively out the gate aside from Krasue which was a unique exception. I’m not sure I’d even call Gabriel recent as he came out over three years ago.

Overall I get your point but... Jason hasn't really been nerfed. His addons got abit of a rebalance with some buffs and some nerfs, but nothing major. Am I missing something here?

I personally wouldn’t call the Sauna Rock nerf nothing major, but I get where you are coming from.

You’re not missing anything, he’s not been nerfed that much and I wouldn’t be opposed to more changes. Jason is still pretty new so I expect he will get changes soon, they probably are just cautious especially after how they handled Krasue.

Sprint Burst meanwhile has been untouched for years, so I still think Jason is a poor comparison as one is so new and the other took over half a decade to receive a slight number change.

  • If you are feeling really frustrated after a bad game, then don’t queue up again. That will just make you feel worse. Take a minute and do something else. Everyone has made the mistake of queuing up right again after a frustrating game and will probably agree it was a bad idea.

Don’t read endgame chat. Either hide it or just leave instantly if it makes you feel that way. There’s no point in leaving it if it will just make you feel worse. If by “getting angry in endgame chat” you mean you are posting angry comments in the chat, then what if you were to try having a word document open or something and type your frustrations in there? You can vent and let off steam without it leading down a spiral of feeling worse (because the people in endgame chat won’t care you are angry, they’ll just try to fuel you).

A stress ball is also good!

This game is just frustrating in general for both sides. I think everyone can agree. And often the thing making you annoyed is completely out of your control, which makes it more frustrating! So it is important that you take breaks, even just a couple days goes a long way.

'Swung more towards survivor' when we just got done getting through with Dracula/Ghoul/Jason. Blight gets compensation buffs and is still just as overpowered.

'Swung more towards survivor' when the TWD chapter and map exists.

Or how about when tunneling and proxy camping still haven't been meaningfully address? Nor has slugging.

4 slowdowns meta has been a thing since 2023. No meaningful nerfs.

Every 'strong' survivor thats new immediately gets gutted into niche tier.

    Are you sure?

Aside from Shane's Cross Examination (which never should've gone live like that), which new survivors got gutted? I can't think of any recent survivor who had their perks nerfed majorly aside from Cross Examination. Unless you are counting changes from PTB to live, then I guess Five Moves Ahead, but that's still a pretty decent perk.

  • Yes you can. It's not something you can be banned for.

  • Kaneki and Jason are not a very good example. They have been nerfed. Yes, they may still be top tiers killers, but Sprint Burst and Deliverance are absolutely not going to be going down the tier lists much either post these nerfs. It's a bit hypocritical to consider the Kaneki and Jason nerfs as irrelevant because they are still good, but consider these nerfs as major "screw yous" despite the fact that they will probably impact these perks to the same degree that the Kaneki and Jason nerfs impacted them.

These changes are really not that big, they won't have much impact on them. I can understand they look scary though as 60 - 120 looks like a massive change, and Sprint Burst has been the same since basically forever, so of course they look bad. But really they won't change much. Deliverance's main strength remains, and Sprint Burst can still be used the same to get from point A to point B faster or to reach safety you just might need to use it a little earlier.

    I'll give this a shot.

I didn't downvote it, but it's structured strangely and where it ends up up doesn't really follow from how it begins.

If it started with the last paragraph, then made the contrasts more clear between the first to third paragraphs it would read better (while it is strong in these situations…however in these instances). Because right now it sounds like you think what they are doing is a great idea until the end. Also moving the third paragraph earlier helps as that is a much larger portion of the player base thus putting it deeper in the discussion seems to be avoiding it.

Basically, if it was written in the reverse order the message would have been clearer.

You'd lay out the most important part first - 'no impact from the nerf, even if one could be justified', before laying out the most common issue 'not a problem most of the time', before moving onto the exception when it could be an issue needing addressed 'comp and the explanation on how it can be really strong'

Also starting off on 'comp' is frequently a bad way to start the explanation as many people discount it (which I think is generally true given they have their own sets of rules and scoring).

Thanks for the response, but I meant I would like to actually discuss WHY people disagree, not a breakdown of why the way I talk is odd. Probably should've made that clearer.

  • @BlightedDolphin said:

Deliverance is one of the strongest perks in higher end/coordinated play. Practically every comp game runs it and is arguably the most impactful perk in those games.
If you don’t hook the Deli player first against a good team, you lose so much pressure when you hook them because you wasted all that time hooking while the other 3 were in no danger. And the Deli player may even use it aggressively with anti-tunnel perks to waste more time, especially in a good coordinated group.
However for the average player, it’s not as good. Still a good perk, but there’s better options for you. You can’t use it as aggressively, you can’t tell your teammate to not waste time heading over, and you have to fight with your team for the unhook.

I honestly agree with them the perk could use a nerf, the issue is that this change isn’t the way it should’ve been. It has almost no effect on the people that actually make it powerful, yet less skilled players running it will just be more of a liability.

Would love to know why this was downvoted so much.

I am no expert on stuff like that, but @bm33 is right, usually it is something with the law of the country which is excluded. Maybe Australia is not strict with Contests like this, but it could also be that they have requirements which make it difficult for BHVR to hold such a contest.

E.g. it could be possible that they need a point of contact in Australia for it, which they simply might not have. This is just one of the reasons why in some countries giveaways are not allowed. (As an example, obviously contests are different, but you get the idea)

Good point! Never thought about points of contact.

Still hope they can do something about it, it doesn’t seem like it’s impossible just difficult.

  • My biggest issue with Freddy is how clunky swapping powers feels. He would be incredibly fun to play if it was more smooth.

There’s so many times where I fire a snare and then want to swap to pallets, however it takes so long to swap and there’s a delay between swapping and actually being able to activate the power. Then sometimes the power just won’t switch at all. It feels too awkward to actually use the powers together in a chase.

I’m not saying to remove the delay, there’s just something about how he swaps powers that feels clunky and unnatural compared to other powers.

  • @bm33 said:

Usually when countries are excluded it's due to the give away laws in each country. BHVR is in Quebec and anyone living in that province is excluded due to the specific give away laws in that province. It sucks but this is a case where it's out of BHVRs hands.

That actually did allow Quebec last year.

While I can’t speak for other countries, Australia’s laws around these things are not that strict as far I can find. Australia is usually always included in these type of contests and events with other communities, it’s just DBD that doesn’t allow it for some reason.

  • @brewingtea said:

The HUD will tell you both A) who you hooked last, and B) who you're currently chasing, without the need to differentiate outfits.

If you trigger a chase with 2 or more survivors though, you won’t know which is which until you commit to one.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/455112/trapper-hag-and-ghostface-might-need-some-buffs-if-these-changes-go-live

Skull Merchant, Ōnryo and Pig are gonna need buffs as well. These changes indirectly nerf some of their core machanics and make them alot weaker.

Pig I feel isn’t too bad. In fact it might be good for her because it will encourage more people to NOT focus the trapped survivor and spread pressure. And if they die, I think losing regression is an acceptable exchange for removing a player in most cases. And she still has built in slow down anyway.

Sadako I agree, unless they make condemn not affected, I think she needs another rework because her main gimmick goes against these changes.

  • I’m going to wait until I see it before I fully judge it, but I do want to say that I think the base kit BBQ change might in the long run make it HARDER to find someone after hooking them.

Why? Because now you know that every killer is going to see you when they hook you, so you can just jump into a locker when they hook them to avoid it. Unlike now where people don’t bother with it since you don’t know the killer can see you.

Once people realise they can just hide in a locker to avoid it, it will become non existent. Unless they make it work in lockers somehow.

  • Going against everyone else here, but honestly, yeah kind of.

Is he a horror character? No, definitely not. But does that mean he wouldn't fit? Also no, in my opinion.

While he isn't straight up horror, he still has potential to be scary. And I think that if a character can be stuck in a horror-like situation and come off as legitimately scary, then they would fit in fine.

Yeah the game should probably have stuck to purely horror licenses, but we are so far past that now that I honestly think Darth Vader would actually be scarier than a lot of recent killers. I remember when Tomb Raider was added people were freaking out that it isn't a horror license, and now everyone adds on "horror adjacent" to their list of requirements because, despite not being horror, she still fit into the game fine.

We've got Tomb Raider, Dungeons & Dragons, the Witcher, Nicolas Cage, and freaking Rainbow 6 in this game. This game being exclusively horror is long gone now.

  • Disagree on Xeno, those tunnels have terrible placement.

  • More balanced but it still leans towards survivor.

Fun wise though, survivor is less enjoyable this time I feel. Especially with Legion + Oni alongside the removal of herbs

And Ghostface being so weak and less fun than his 1v4 version makes me not want to play killer either, so honestly not enjoying this interaction that much haha.

That's why I said it is something you would select before you start searching for your next match. There would also be restrictions on SWFs; like a pre-group could only choose and ban 1 killer between them to avoid it getting out of hand, and again they could not do this multiple matches in a row.

You missed the point where I said this was just a bit of fun though. We all have a killer sometimes we'd like to avoid, share it.

    That’s why it wouldn’t work.

As they mentioned, other games you all load in together and then ban the characters. Then you select who to play as.

In this case it would be that survivors select bans then load into a game against someone who isn’t banned. But the issue is that the killer players looking for a game are locked into whoever they chose to play. They can’t load in to a game, see the bans, and then pick a killer. They just get stuck with longer queue times.

Given the way the game is designed, this change would be pretty unhealthy overall.

  • @LordGlint said:

Does GF's expose work for BOTH killers? I could see him focusing on just marking ppl so his teammate can get quick downs.

It does, but is there really any benefit to it when most 2v8 killers use M2 attacks anyway? The only killer who really benefits from it is Wraith.

I don't think Ghostface is that bad in 2v8, but there's really no point in playing him when Legion does his job 10x better.

  • Saw someone suggest he should punch them and the cool down animation is his hand breaking and then spring locking back into place. And honestly that sounds so much cooler.

They probably gave him a knife so that they can change it with different skins easier. The Matthew Lillard skin for example would look goofy punching things and would take more effort to completely change all of his animations. And if they plan on giving him other animatronics as skins, then it’s much easier to just give them all different weapons.

A knife is also very easy to find in a pizza place unlike an axe is so it’s kind of fitting.

  • There are killer buffs though. The map offerings changes and the survivor spawn update are pretty substantial killer buffs.

Most of the changes shown were QoL changes to make things more enjoyable rather than broad balance changes. There will still be killer balance patches like usual.

As for the new item/item reworks, giving survivors new toys to play with is definitely a good idea because once Springtrap releases killer queues are going to be a nightmare.

And then there's Ultimate Houndmaster being Visceral for some odd reason.

It’s Visceral because the dog is different, so it’s classified as altering her power. Which is still silly because you’re paying that much just for a dog cosmetic, and is pretty disappointing compared to the other Visceral skins. No way changing the dog should be compared to the effort they put into Naughty Bear.

But the strangest one to me is the Minotaur skin for Oni being Legendary when it’s just a model change, but Look-See is Ascended despite also being a model change, and Knight’s ‘Enchated Plates’ skin is a model change AND has special effects yet is only Ascended…

I mean, I personally dont care either way. But I just think this is looking for making things a problem which are really irrelevant. The Abandon-feature is good. And bringing up those concerns for nitpicking is just too much IMO.

But whatever, it seems to be the most important thing that the Survivors lose MMR, because it is clearly so important for people. I think I will just ignore this thread, not worth my time to argue over such little things, lol.

The abandon feature is good, I don’t think anyone is disagreeing with you there.

I don’t see how this is nitpicking though. The entire point of this topic is pretty much about this system and how it works, pointing out a flaw in it isn’t nitpicking.

I don’t care if the opposing survivor loses MMR or not, I care that I, as a survivor, am now going to be punished for wanting to view the cool finisher mori rather than disconnecting.

I’m not trying to argue with you.

You can, but again - it is really not worth it to think about if that last guy now got a Draw or a Loss. For the Killer, the outcome is the same, regardless if they hook/mori a Bot or the actual player.

It’s fair to be concerned about it though because now there’s no threat to being the last survivor since you literally can’t lose if you don’t want to.

But my biggest issue is that if I am the last survivor and want to watch the killer’s mori animation, then I’m actually punished for doing so when if I just abandoned wouldn’t have technically lost.

It’s just a weird thing to include, there’s no reason this should be a draw honestly.

The Killrate would be as many Kills as the Killer kills in the end. The game does not end, if a Survivor abandons, they leave a Bot. If the Killer decides to stick around, they get a 4K. If they abandon, they dont get anything. But the Killrate would not really matter anyway, since it is not used for Stats.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3919937#Comment_3919937

Does it actually matter what the outcome of the match is for the Survivor? Most likely only for people who want to make the game miserable for Survivors (which aligns perfectly with someone who is going for a 4 man-Slug).

But 4 man slugs aren’t the only time you can use this abandon feature.

Unless I’m mistaken, I’m pretty sure you can also abandon the match as the last survivor after being downed.

  • Wouldn’t this mean it’s better to abandon the match rather than letting the killer hook/mori you when on the ground since it’s a draw and not a loss?

  • @HeroLives said:

What’s a perk you dream about having in the game? Doesn’t matter if you think the devs would ever add it or not. What do you want? It doesn’t matter which side.

    I’ll go first.

    Survivor Perk:

A perk that allows me to dodge roll to evade any attack if timed properly.

Isn't that pretty much just Dead Hard?

  • How are these two things even related?

  • It's just because of Kaneki being incredibly fun to play and incredibly miserable to play against.

Killer queues always take longer around killer releases. It's worse this time though because is a really fun, really strong, and a very recognisable character, so everyone wants to play him right. Add in the fact that there's nothing new for survivors to play with AND the insanely popular killer is completely awful to play against, there's no reason to actually want to play survivor right now when 9/10 games are Kaneki. If they had released a survivor with fun perks alongside him I don't think it would've been as bad, but they didn't so I can't blame anyone for not wanting to play survivor this update.

Once they nerf Kaneki it will go back to how it was. Which hopefully is sooner rather than later.

  • It sucks now because there aren’t any good Haste perks really, but in the long run it’s probably for the best.

It lets them release stronger Haste perks and helps prevent another MFT situation.

But it does suck that it makes Rapid Brutality weaker on killers like Clown and Singularity.

Hopefully the weaker Haste perks like Dark Theory and Battieries Included get some adjustments soon to compensate.

Self-Care was not actually a big deal for old Freddy. In fact it was actually a boon, because they just waste time doing nothing but healing (and you knew where they were doing this and that they were not doing gens) and as soon as they wake up you just instantly put them back to sleep again, which with range addons you could do from nearly 40 metres away, and then just go back to picking off those who are sticking on gens. The people that think Self-Care was a counter to Freddy are the ones that just played him like a cruddy Wraith and would stack block addons to reduce the sleep time rather than increasing their power range.

I do agree that other than the teleport, the rework did make him feel less thematic. I wish they kept the invisibility at the very least, and the dreamworld feels almost identical to being awake now.

Agree to disagree. You wasted much less time failing a skill check through Self-Care than you did failing one on a gen or looking for a teammate. Plus you could do it mid-chase. If he went over to sleep you after you woke up, then he's wasting time while the other survivors work on gens. It was the best way to wake up since it didn't lead him to your teammates or cost you gen progress.

I remember back when that "De-Pip Squad" or whatever it was called was a thing, they mentioned they struggled often against Freddy because they didn't have Self-Care and it caused gen progress to slow way down.

Do agree that range add ons were the best though. Especially since you could also pull out the power and check if someone was hiding behind a wall 40m away haha.

Anyway I think we've derailed this thread too much reminiscing about our old main haha.

How many P100s: Zero. I could easily have had Ghostface P100 by now but I'm way to lazy to spend hours spending blood points haha.

I'm going to just say, as an OG Freddy main (back when he was invisible and needed to sleep you to hit), I loved him, but changing him was healthy for the game. His optimum playstyle was keeping everyone asleep and never going for chases until 3 or 4 people were asleeep, and forcing them to work on gens at 50% forever.

It was honestly more unfun to play against than Chessmaster Skull Merchant. But not many people knew how to play him that way (because other than me, I only know 2 other Freddy Mains from that time) so people just thought he was weak or underrated. If that playstyle ever got more popular before Freddy was changed, he would have been really hated probably as much as Skull Merchant.

I agree, just like I agree that Skull Merchant needed a rework. But my point is that Freddy kept nothing that made him Freddy. He became healthier sure, but at the cost of practically deleting that killer from the game. Sure he is healthier, but the few people that actually enjoyed him were the ones that got the short end of the stick. And the first rework Freddy was honestly just as unhealthy for the same reasons so what was really the point haha.

Just because a killer is unhealthy doesn't mean they have to become something else entirely. Release Legion was one of the most unhealthy things ever added to this game, probably more so than OG Freddy, and they didn't remove their identity or completely change them into an entirely different character.

Reworking her is definitely a net positive, but I just think the way they are doing it is a mistake.

(Also kind of unrelated, but the reason I feel that play style for OG Freddy never picked up was because Self-Care was meta so it was really hard to keep more than 2 people asleep for long when everyone was carrying around a free wake up on command. If he released now, then that play style would definitely be worse for the game especially now that there are more slow down perks and no Self-Care, although I still think he would be bottom tier.)

I have checked, and yeah. When they reworked knigth there was a bug in the PTB that allowed him to spawn a guard while other one was already there and it just de-spawned. When on live they fixed the bug and so he couldnt do that anymore but the community had a big uproar so they made it again possible to spawn a guard while another guard is active and that guard will just de-spawn.

Oh interesting. Thanks for the correction :D
