Hex: Absolution seems quite broken, since it's unstoppable and uncounterable.
How I'd change it:
Scourge: Absolution:
- Every time a Survivor is hooked on a Scourge Hook, one totem is chosen at random. If it's a Dull Totem, it is destroyed. If it targets a Boon, it Snuffs the boon instead. Every Survivor hooking, it picks a totem at random, it may not break the totem it just Snuffed.
- Scourge: Absolution has a cooldown of 60/45/35 seconds.
- Scourge: Absolution will not target Hexes. (Meaning those totems always exist to be Cleansed and Booned, and are untouchable UNTIL they are at least Cleansed)
Now it has use as an anti-boon/totem perk but requires Killer input. It also can't be spammed if many Survivors are rapidly hooked.
-
Weird. It sounds like you played the game.
You just did not WIN allot. Win = Playing? 🤔

You forgot the "There is no counter play to it" to complete the saint trinity of the survivor main mindset.
Everything a killer does needs to have some kind of clear and easy counter, being fun for the survivor or simply allow them to play/win however they want or it should be nerfed or banned, as it's written in their holy book "The Survivor Morals Rulebook".
We both forgot the fourth comment: "It gives free kills."
Survivors will claim ANY Killer tactic/perk/power does any (or all) of these four things:
- It gives free kills!
- There's no counter play!
- It holds the game hostage!
- It's unfun!
And promptly say whatever 'it' is should either be removed, Killers should be banned for doing it, or suggest some easy to abuse counter mechanic for Survivors to enjoy. 😂

This. The fact that Myers is the only person who has a hard cap on how often he can use is power is a large part of why I say hes the weakest killer in the game.
Freddy is somewhat the same: Once all gens pop, he cannot teleport. Which is stupid.
The Pig, too: Once all gens pop, putting RBTs on people is useless.

There are too many killers holding the game hostage by camping hook.. this could be solved if hook progression would pause after the killer has been in close proximity for too long. That way survivors could have a fair chance.

this could be solved if hook progression would pause after the killer has been in close proximity for too longSurvivors would force the Killer into a loop and force the timer to pause or for the Killer to leave & allow unsafe unhooks.
Source: They tried this. Survivors abused it.
I will say it again: Camping is not holding the game hostage. The hooked Survivor can still die. Other Survivors can still do gens. NOTHING about camping is holding the game hostage.
I swear; 'Holding the game hostage' has become some sort of buzzword warcry for Survivors. Anything they don't like becomes either 'Unfun', or 'Holds the game hostage', so they can insist on horrible, easily abused changes.

No anti-cheat is flawless. It's an arms race between the anti-cheat folks and the people who make the cheats.
Every time any anti-cheat is updated, cheaters find new ways around it.
-
Report them after the match ends. AFKing is against the rules.
Though I find it hilarious that some Survivors defend 'DC On Hook' with everything they have ("You can't force someone to play a match they are not enjoying! You can't change hook mechanics or people will just sandbag & afk!")
But AFK Killers are apparently horrid people who deserve punishments.

Well BOONS aren't the problem, COH is. If COH is to get a nerf in the future to make it a balanced perk then that would mean every other boon beyond shadow step needs to be brought up in some way to make them worth using. Dark Theory as it stands provides a minimal effect with no information given to the killer its in play beyond "Oh I hear a boon." And something like movement speed should have something that shows its active. This kills two birds with one stone making the boon better so it could stand on its own feet while also giving good info to the killer
Agree to disagree.
- Every boon does not have to be buffed if CoH is nerfed. That's false equivalency. The other boons are fine, b ut CoH is too strong.
- Again; Boons are lose/lose for the Killer no matter what. Either he wastes time snuffing, or he lets Survivors benefit. He should not have a sadistic boon that slows him down, thereby forcing him to stop and boon hunt every time Survivors squat on another totem.

I mean it would make it an actually useful Boon in a sense. It wouldn't be super strong at all I think you guys are over estimating what I mean. Nothing drastic just the 2% but instead of buffing survivor speed it slows the killer in the range
It is already useful. There's no reason to make it screw Killers just because YOU don't think it's useful.
I outlined why Boons are lose/lose anyways, and this would make the choice even worse.

Eh. Dark Theory isn't fine as it is. It's a very awkward effect to balance. Too slow and it's virtually worthless, too fast and it's broken, with no real middle ground.
This idea could actually be something that gives it a suitable middle ground. As long as the relative speed difference is the same (makes killers 2% slower), then it would A. get slightly more use out of it and B. make the killer more obviously aware of it's presence.
Then it wouldn't be a stealth speed boost that doesn't really do anything, it would be an obvious debuff that gives the killer a clear indication that it's in play, and thus the informed choice as to whether to snuff it or not, as well as giving a 'Whispers' style way to locate it.
Except your forgetting about time economy.
Survivors can boon a totem AND do gens. So they don't lose out when booning.
Killers, on the other hand, cannot Snuff and patrol. Or Snuff and chase. or do anything involving 2 actions. So, with your change, they would be slowed, have to slowly find the Boon, and then Snuff it. Or leave it and have Survivors drag them towards it in every chase. Lose/lose.
Plus, Survivors can re-boon forever. So even after they waste time snuffing; Survivors just re-boon, and Killer is slowed in that area again.
PLUS, what about multi-level maps? Killer gets slowed 1 floor down, has to find stairs, go up, re-enter the slow zone, find it, and snuff it.
No thanks. It's fine as is.
-
Uhh, Boons are already so Survivor-sided that the Killer loses if he snuffs and loses if he does not. Survivors don't lose anything by making boons.
No need to make it shaft the Killer even further. Dark Theory is fine as-is.
-
That's...literally part of the point of Blindness.

I think it's easy to punish people if they just leave the match instead of being kicked from connection issues.
Did this person push ' leave ' -> don't let rejoin
Did this person close the game -> don't let rejoin
Did this person DC and kicked from the game with error message -> let rejoin
The only issue this could cause is people abusing lag switches or some other stuff, but I don't think this would as big of a problem as people may think. It can't be as bad as the hackers or the Dead Hard Scripting. There is already abusable stuff in this game, why not one more where people will get more value out of it if they have spotty internet.
That or they could just rework the whole penalty system and stop the accumulative penalty issue. I think a 10-15m dc penalty is fine, why push it passed that? This doesn't prevent people from still DCing, people will still continue to do it.
You do realize it is possible, and quite easy, to force-crash any program?
Survivors would do that and rejoin.
On top of that; the server has no way of knowing if you crashed, closed, or have your router explode in a fireball.
To the server; Gone is gone. And because you're gone, your game can't send any sort of message saying WHY you left.
And again; you did not actually fix the issue:
Survivors force a crash when downed, wait for the Killer to walk away, and rejoin.

This game would burn if they added Voice Coms, and in most cases it isn't even viable since the game operates in a lot of different regions. Not all European speak the same language so they're already not getting benefits from voice coms.
Not to mention the toxicity this game already has, nearly every player would opt out of voice coms just because they don't want to be yelled at during the match by toxic people.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3321678#Comment_3321678
But knowing they're SWF doesn't help you at all, this doesn't help you prevent body blocking, hook sabo, actually team play in general. All this does is give you a reason to dodge the lobby because you don't want to deal with the bully squad.
Not to mention the toxicity this game already has, nearly every player would opt out of voice coms just because they don't want to be yelled at during the match by toxic people.Still, if they added it, then they could balance around it. And then Killers would be dangerous again. It would be people's choice to gimp themselves and not use it.
As it stands, they have to balance around solo-Q, which makes Killers weaker, and keeps SWFs the top of the food chain.

I said progress, not hook status. Hook status is saved on server sided and kept when your DC, it shows how many times this dc'd person has been hooked. You loading in shouldn't change this. Really it's just a matter of how or where you load into the match.
I am talking primarily about match points. If you DC you shouldn't be able to load back in and just pick up where you left off with getting 20k bp at the end of the match.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3321661#Comment_3321661
I'm sure there are ways to prevent it from being abused or the whole penalty system needs reworked altogether. DCing from a match shouldn't be a continued punishment, should be a set amount of time and that's it, not accumulated based on how many DC, at this point they should just ban you for 1 day for DCing.
This is mostly for internet drops then it is for actually leaving the game, which is easily tellable from the game. Did this person push LEAVE, block them from rejoining and give them penalty. While this can still be abusive with task manager, they could just give you the full penalty if the game is completely closed and reopened.
Almost every time you lose connection to the game it never fully closes just kicks you back to the start screen with an error message. This can probably be done with just looking at the player's current session as I'd imagine this resets every time you relaunch the game and start a new session.
The point of the current system is that, if you only DC due to net drops, you will probably have waited out the ban by teh time you log back in.
But if you repeatedly DC; you either deserve the longer wait because you are deliberately DCing, or need to fix your internet.
Either way; the current system is perfectly fine, and we don't need some abusable mechanic to fix what is not broken.
While I understand the progress part, there's still the fact that Survivors in an SWF can DC, wait for the Killer to move, then reconnect and get picked up by their friend. It would be used to dodge being hooked.
It's not needed.
-
Give solo-Q's voice comms, then balance Killers around SWF levels of cmmunication.
Game fixed.
Though the devs flat out refuse to admit voice comms break their game. And Survivors desperately pretend SWFs don't have an advantage, so that SWF stays the top of the food chain power-wise.
-
This should reset all your progress and load you in as if you just loaded in at the start of the matchSo a Survivor on death hook can quit & reload, and no longer be on death hook? That would be abused non-stop.
Also, Survivors in a SWF would DC when downed, wait for their friend to say, 'The Killer left where you went down', and then log back in and get picked up.
The idea is much, MUCH too easy to abuse for Survivor's benefit.
-

This is no excuse not to add a rejoin match button. Intentional or not, you should always be able to rejoin the match to avoid any penalty.
How would that work?
If people could rejoin, then people could DC when they're downed, wait for their SWF buddy to say 'The Killer left where you went down', and rejoin so their friend could pick them up.
It would be horribly abused to avoid being hooked all day long.
-
The game becomes unplayable without the DC penalty.
If your net is so bad that you frequently DC, then you need to troubleshoot and fix it before playing an online game where you leaving can mess up other people's games.

I mean, the worst to me isn't in-game BM.
It's the DDoS's, the racists who only kill minority Survivors and then boast about it, some of the TTV's who witchhunt people, the cheaters who hold you hostage.
Somebody slugging me for a while while Wraith bonging me, it's whatever. Annoying? Yeah. Childish? Sure. Will I DC? I won't and you shouldn't, but I'd understand. Will I stick around for his victory lap? Nah, I'm gonna make some food or something.
Whenever I see someone boast like that on their steam profile, I make it a point to report their profile.
And if Steam says 'We took action', I check; If nothing changed, I report again. And again. And again. Until I get a mod who actually does something about it.
Thankfully, their profiles usually end up wiped clean by a mod within a try or two. They still WORK (Sadly), but the mod removes all offending comments.

Just giving you a heads up that I’m not even going to bother responding to you. You don’t understand and I’m not wasting my time. I’m quitting. ; )
I understand completely.
You have repeatedly told Killers to 'stop bringing OP stuff'. You are expecting them to stop trying and placing the blame for Survivor DCs squarely on their shoulders. While ignoring that Survivors, in turn, will continue to bring their own 'OP stuff'.
Because you refuse to accept that you are in control of your own actions.
Last I checked; I can't physically make my opponents DC, so it's not MY fault when they flip the table. And telling your opponent 'It's your fault for trying so hard' and 'Stop trying to win!' is so laughably immature that I'm surprised someone could meant it and still work a PC.

It’s always disappointing to engage with people on these forums that just twist words to try to win a debate rather than actually solve a problem. You all KNOW what I’m saying but you want to skew it to make it look like something else. I didn’t say ‘don’t try to win’. I said you need to recognize that the game is unfair for the vast majority of survivors when the most OP killers and builds are used. This is responsible for the majority of quitting. If you want to reduce the quitting stop playing those OP killers and builds. Play a killer that is more challenging to win with. If you’re a good killer you’ll still do fine but probably not 4k 80-90% of the time.
”OMG!!!! DO something I don’t HAVE to do, that would make the game more difficult??? OMG You are stupid and insane!!” There. I answered for some of you.
I didn’t say ‘don’t try to win’Uh-huh
If you want to reduce the quitting stop playing those OP killers and builds.So...We CAN try to win, just not too hard? Do we need to ask for a list of SurvivorApproved(tm) perks and Killers to use? Or is it in my most recent Survivor Handbook For Killers (132354th Ed.)?
Accept that anyone who DCs is the only one at fault, and stop expecting your opponents to 'stop trying' while Survivors bring 16 META perks and SWF with voice comms.
It's not the Killer's fault you DC, hun. It's yours.

Yeah.
I've been testing some theories recently, and there's no difference in quitter rate between games where I play Trapper and games where I play Nurse, or games where I bring a flan and games when I bring a mori.
The only thing that makes a difference is 'are we winning?'.
I've had people DC because they went down for the first time...at 1 gen left, and I've got 1 hook on everyone else.
I once had a Survivor poof on first down (As Trapper, I main him. #GiveTrappyLove) but still get in endgame chat.
I got TOASTED, with 1 kill, not counting the DC. I was wrecked by the Survivors. I mean, I did not full-throttle until way too late, given the DC, but it was enough of a stomp that I don't think it would have mattered if I went hard from the word 'Go'. I was destroyed.
What did the DCer say in endgame chat? "YoU bRoUgHt NoEd!" His excuse for DCing was 1) A perk that did not trigger yet. and 2) He had to wait 11+ minutes to even SEE to whine about. He blamed a perk he did not even know I had until after the game ended, for hm DCing as first found.
Some people just refuse to accept they are the cause of their own actions.

No. I’m dealing with the reality of this game and suggesting that the solution requires that killers take some responsibility for their role in all the quitting. Stop playing the OPAF stuff. Am I suggesting killers do something they don’t want to do? Yes. Is it a reasonable solution that would probably reduce quitting? Yes. Games are not fair for solo survivors. Most games (90%) are solos or a 2 man swf. Solos vs the OPAF stuff described almost ALWAYS LOSE. What’s the killer proposal? Suck it up and keep losing so we can keep winning our easy games. You guys offer no solutions based on reality. You just whine about the quitters and want harsher penalties. Anything to keep the game as it is. I’m suggesting you take matters into your own hands and self-correct the game by making it fairer for survivors by not playing your strongest stuff. Try it for a week. I guarantee if you stick with it you’ll get longer, more enjoyable games with less quitting.
You guys offer no solutions based on realityMeanwhile, your solution is "Stop using your strongest perks to make your opponents (who will bring BNPs, 16 META perks, and be in SWFS, btw) bring whatever they want. And if you don; you're to blame for Survivors quitting." As if THAT is a realistic solution.
And before you try to say 'No I did not':
I’m suggesting you take matters into your own hands and self-correct the game by making it fairer for survivors by not playing your strongest stuff.Youa re literally telling Killers "Stop trying so hard, or it's your fault we DC!" I can't make this up. You are saying Killers trying to win are at fault for Survivors rage-quitting. Hilarious!
I was unaware I have to stop trying so my opponents stop DCing. Does that work in reverse?
Survivors like you need to take your own advice and
take some responsibility for their role in all the quitting -
@Audiophile said:
Awwwww. Gwandpaw is angwy.
Think about this Gwamps: YOU KNOW what makes players quit. I’ll spell it out anyway: OP builds, cheap killer play, bad teammates. This is probably 80% of the reason for quits. I’ll say the other 20% is being petulant because they got found early or didn’t like the map or didnt want to face their 5th Wesker in a row… So about that 80%, and getting back to the fact that YOU KNOW this is why players quit… if killers want to minimize quits:
- Stop loading into games with OPAF builds (Nurse, Blight, your “magic build” on other killers where you run your map and the best perks and addons that make you damn near invincible)
- Stop running lethal pursuer with an extreme mobility killer that downs someone in seconds and then steamrolls with BBQ or whatever
- Stop camping and tunnelling and ruining peoples games because you want to be as oppressive as possible vs a team that is likely a bunch of mismatched solos already at a disadvantage.
Solo survivors are sick of being reamed sideways because killer players are getting spoon fed wins. How easy is it to find survivors now? Every killer has access to like 100 aura perks and addons. How many killers have extreme mobility? How many have “magic builds” where they’re pretty much guaranteed a win? Killers have 100 ways to 1 hit now and slow down gens and find survivors, often simultaneously with one perk doing multiple things. Meanwhile any concept of survivor stealth is GONE. It’s all just about running and trying to get gens done fast which is damn near impossible with OP extreme mobility killers running aura perks and gen slow downs vs a ragtag team of mismatched survivors.
Solo survivors play as one post above described: they join hoping for a fun game. But when faced with OP BS and/or horrible teammates they often leave and move on to try and find a fairer match. So take some responsibility and play fair. BHVR isn’t going to do anything to help the situation so try looking at how YOU contribute and change THAT and see what happens.
So Killers should have to stop using perks Survivors hate, or Survivors have carte blanche to ragequit? Is THAT your stance?
Sounds like someone is projecting the blame.
-
Survivors on Hook-DCs: You can't make people play in a match they don't like. This mechanic needs to stay as it is.
Survivors on AFK Killers: They should all be banned for not playing! They ruin the game for Survivors!
It's a double standard. Survivors deserve a way to DC without the penalty, but Killers are expected to play out every match, from beginning to end, without afking. 😂

People are already reporting killers for nothing, that wouldn't change. BHVR ignores all reports without evidence so that wouldn't change anything for you. Where did you read that I want to change the report system works?
BHVR should just be clearer on their stance regarding actual griefers. Specifically, if they say that repeated facecamping/slugging etc. is considered griefing and bannable, even without taking any concrete action, then this would at least deter people from livestreaming it or doing it every game.
They are clear on their stance:
Camping, tunneling, and slugging are not reportable and are not considered griefing. How much clearer of a stance do you need?
And my point was that you can't report someone for 'intent' because Survivors already attribute an 'intent to grief' whenever they lose.

Lmao.. op?
1.We have like 6 killers who literally stop survivors from Using the only resources we have on the map,but nobody calls them op
2.thats the point of the perks and items is to waste as much of the killers time as possible,so gens can get done... what game are you playing?
3.its also to help create new playstyles and to push survivors to use the resources around the Map without worrying about low balling thier teammates
4.i think killers don't want to earn thier kills they just want it handed to them.
- Irrelevant
- Yes, but that does not mean Survivors should be gift-wrapped methods to do it without effort. Once again; Killers don't have much time to waste. Your perks literally ensure, in the current meta, that Killers would never get a hook. Imagine a Killer breaking a God Pallet, in which 3 gens popped, only for someone to repair it so they can run the Killer the other 2 gens.
- Your intent is fine, but the ideas are broken.
- So me pointing out your ideas are OP is me 'wanting kills handed to me'? Ok then; You just want EZ games by introducing perks you know are broken and OP. See? I can be dismissive, just like you.
If you can't handle critique to the point that you need to strawman and dismiss people who say it; Don't post ideas on a public forum. My critiques are valid, and you brush them off an entitled because you don't want to hear them, so we're done here.
-
All three of those perks are insanely broken.
- Imagine being able to rebuild a god pallet, which can already take minutes before needing to break. OP.
- Also pretty broken. Slow down the Killer in a good loop to increase chase times, then pop DH when hit.
- Once again, this increases chase times or otherwise makes Killers waste time. In a meta where Survivors can do all 5 gens and leave in under 5 minutes, and Killers have to claw for every second.
-
Every addon would have to be retooled to compensate for having 3 add-on slots, or they would be insanely broken.
Imagine power-healing, or power-repairing. Sub-5-minute games turn into sub-3-minutes. No.

I'm used to you writing bad posts but this is something else. Literally every time someone writes "facecamping" and "slugging" you're here to copy/paste the same generic response that these are valid strategies, without even reading the message, and completely missing the point. If you spent a few more minutes reading the post rather than just engage in hostile and unconstructive forum fights, then you might realize, my post is not about facecamping/slugging at all, it's about griefing, ie. facecamping/slugging should not be bannable as a tactic, but doing it with the deliberate intent of griefing should be bannable.
And how would you know their intent?
Because I've had Survivors claim they were reporting me for 'griefing' because I 'camped' when someone was trying to unsafe unhook.
Now imagine if BHVR had to take those whiny toddler's reports seriously; Suddenly, anything the Killer does can be reported if it hurt some Survivor's fee-fees, because the Survivor decided the Killer's intent was to grief.
Not a good idea. Will never happen. Should never happen.

They could do lots of things, but that is not a reason to punish those who don't. If a killer is going to win or lose based off of his perks being a mystery that really ain't that strong of a killer right? Killers already are in an op positioned, they can't die.
It's not a 'punishment' to be forced to wait. And the Killer is not 'OP' because he can't die. Rofl. What a lukewarm take.
People have explained it. I explained it. It's not changing just so SWFs can abuse it.

Either BHVR needs to make reskins of the traps to ensure they blend in a bit on all maps, or just do what I said above. Because his traps are basically useless when they can be seen from 3 miles away by someone in an SWF on voice comms. At that point; The Trapper does not even have a power.
The only point to making Iri coil base is to reduce the time the Trapper spends arming/rearming traps while Survivors are just banging out gens in under 5 minutes. Of course, if he wants to move them; He then has to spend time picking them back up.

I didn't invente any of those statements.
So the only thing i know is that killers want guaranteed kills and survivors not being able to interact is ok.
I did not say you invented them. I said your attempt to equate them to each other is false.
Wanting hook grabs is not the same as saying Killers should win chases because of Bloodlust 2 & 3.
You are trying to claim these are two equal things that paint Killers as hypocrites, and you're wrong. Removing hook grabs & removing Bloodlust 2 & 3 would be massive Killer nerfs that are being pushed because Survivors want easier games now that they got BHVR to nerf Nurse again.

Its amazing:
Lets remove hook grabs and buff killers in other ways to promote interactive gameplay
Killer players:
No if i camp that survivor should be dead, he got caught, so i have the right to do it. Not everything needs counterplay and this community is obsessed with it.
Also killer player:
Bloodlust exist to guarantee that a killer can catch a survivor, a survivor shouldn't be able to have a chase forever. Thank god they removed end game DS and old DH that had no counterplay.
False equivalency, but have fun with that.

Definitely a good start. He needs a lot. Honestly there needs to be some kind of punishment for just having 1 survivor follow him around all game making his traps useless. Running his two Iris feels required currently as they counteract this and also with the rearming makes him more time efficient with how extremely un time efficient he is at base. Their last buffs they gave him were way, way too light handed.
Yeah. traps should also re-arm after a set time, with his add-on reducing that arming time.
He needs major work done to allow him to cope with the genrush meta.

And what happens if another survivor picks up your item and leaves with it?
Do they keep it? Do they lose it? Do you lose it? Is it now duplicated (Which, btw, would be abuseable)?

I always thought that should be a perk.
Sure, but if the Killer finds and hits you, you go straight to Dying, even if you were Healthy. 😁
That actually seems good, given how stealthy such a perk would be. I mean, most Killers can't see a Survivor crouching directly in front of them, so crawling would be massively stealthy.

Says the person wanting to gimp Killers for 0 valid reasons.

Yes, it is a valid reason to remove it, why have a mechanic that only a small portion of the players will make use of?
And the entire concept of bloodlust is to let you kill a survivor who played better than you, so you are telling me that he should die because you wasted 45 seconds chasing him instead of you dropping the obvious better survivor and go for a way easier pick?
'I don't like it' and 'It won't be used much' are very poor excuses to nerf Killers, regardless of how entitled Survivors are.
The point of Bloodlust is to ensure chases can end. So yes, I'm telling you that he should die after a chase.
Or are you telling me you legit think Survivors should be able to run a Killer for more than 3 gens? Because even with Bloodlust, 3+ gens can pop in the first chase.
Sorry. 'I think Survivors should win the chase' is not a valid reason to nerf Killers to force it to happen. 🤷♂️

The only situation you are going to get bloodlust 2 and 3 is when you are losing, and massive nerf? Bro do you waste 45 seconds in chase without breaking a god pallet or something? You must be playing a really survivor sided map like garden of joy, hadonfield, badham preschool or the eyrie of crows, at this point you literally lost the game.
Not a valid reason to remove it.

Bloodlust 2 and 3 removed (bloodlust 1 still exists)
If the survivors are close to the hook they are just being useless, therefore the hook progress slowdown, 25%/50%/75% might be too much but remember that there is already a perk that does the same thing called Reasurance.
Yes but Reassurance requires a perk slot. It's not basekit.
And there are 0 valid reasons to remove Bloodlust 2 & 3. All that does it make chases take longer in events where 2 or 3 would kick in. Thus giving Killers a massive, unneeded nerf for no reason.
