Sorry for the long wait everyone, the holiday season had me pretty busy.
I am now happy to present: The Houndmaster
The Houndmaster.pdfI've also attached a PDF version of this for easier use and a higher quality render.

You don’t have to play her to get to P1. lol
Just put the blood points in for the perks.
That's a good point. Houndmaster's one saving grace is that I don't have to actually play her to get unlock her perks.
-
Yeah, the amount of precision you need to have just to maybe get a hit makes for a killer that is both very weak and very frustrating to play. She feels like a killer who wants to be a sidegrade to Pinhead, but ends up being downgrade in every way. I was originally going to just get her to P1 to get her perks unlocked on the other killers, but I can't even bring myself to go that far with her. It's a miserable experience. This is the first killer in the game I actively regret spending my shards on, and I've been playing since 2017.
This killer's power does not even feel fixable. It just needs a fundamental change to how it works for it to be any level of viable or fun.

Maybe it's my age showing (I'm an older Millennial) but horror and sex are an iconic duo. Maybe it's different in modern horror, but the classics that kicked off the genre were all about that. Not sure if you've seen the movie Cabin in the Woods but it perfectly encapsulated the standard horror tropes of the virgin, the "#########," the jock, the nerd, etc. They all followed a formula, nudity was a common feature, and it wouldn't be a Friday the 13th movie without someone being chased in a bikini or killed while being intimate. The glowing fox tail, yeah I'll give you that one.
Yeah, I know that the classic horror movies always have some sort of steamy stuff going on. I wasn't around when they first came out or anything, but those parts never really contributed anything to the experience for me, I more tolerated them than anything else. Honestly I'd say it only ever had a negative impact on the movie because it immediately makes watching the movie with someone else a significantly more akward experience.
Maybe that's why I kinda appreciate the age of internet horror a lot. Yeah it has a lot of schlock and cringey overdone tropes, but at the very least those tropes are used by someone trying to make their story more scary instead of trying to pander to the more horny audience. Even if that audience continues to appear somehow.
So yeah, I guess I'm of the opinion that while horny stuff is undeniably a common trope of classic horror, it's a trope I'm more than fine with leaving behind in the service of making horror scarrier.

And he also worked just fine.
I'm not saying Hag and Doctor wouldn't work, I'm saying they wouldn't be a priority.
Trapper, Wraith, Huntress, Nurse and Hilbilly were added in first because they're the free killers everyone gets.
Deathslinger, Spirit and Blight are being added in now because of the remaining roster, they fit in particularly well with the fast paced environment that they're trying to cultivate in that gamemode.
Hag and Doctor aren't being added in yet because of the available remaning options, other killers fit the bill for what they're trying to do more. They very well can work, they're just not the first choices.
-
The stuff kinda bothers me a little to be completely honest. I understand that every game will have a portion of the playerbase that's….the way that they are, but it feels weird for the devs to feed into it a bit in a game about serial killers hunting people down and violently executing them and a never-ending game of violence.
Part of the reason I like horror so much is for the horror of it. The creepy atmosphere, the violence, the hulking figures, creepy warped bodies and twisted amalgamations of flesh. Seeing people run around shirtless, or in bikinis and microskirts, or heck, glowing fox tails, it really detracts from that atmosphere.
It also perplexes me how people get all hot over people that would literally kill them for fun without a second thought.

Can you explain that one? Please remember Trapper is one of the options for 2v8.
Literal face of the game and one of the original 3 killers. And also he's free so everyone gets him.

You can't. :)
I still don't get why it would be an issue to add Hag or Doctor into this mode.
I don't think it would be an issue nescesarily, but they have made it clear they want this to be a fast paced game mode. Hag and Doctor or not that. It makes sense that killers like Blight and Spirit would make it in before Hag or Doctor.

I need bedsheet ghost Dredge, 90s desktop Singularity, and trenchcoat detective Unknown.
Nothing else matters to me. Not a big fan of most of the survivor submissions, and most of the badges and banners are good.
But those killer designs are 11/10. Singularity and Unknown really need new cosmetics, too.
Looks like its a good day for this guy! I'm pretty happy too

@ArkInk said:
Bedsheet Dredge and Trenchcoat Unknown are some instant buys if they get added; the fanart in this community never disappoints!
I really hope Trenchcoat Unknown gets in, Unknown is probably my second favorite killer right now and I don't think it has any good skins really. I'm with you on Trenchcoat being an instant buy,

Damn... that first page got me stuck... I kinda like all of them 😶😶😶
That page had some really hard choices on them. I had to pick Huntress for one of them cause man do I really want some wendigo imagery in DBD, it'll scratch some of that cryptid itch I've had for a while now.
-
This is the hardest time I've ever had voting in these categories, all of the submissions look phenomenal. I was looking through the submissions and regularly saying "hooooh, that's sick" out loud. Especially with some of the banner submissions. In Plain Sight specifically appeals to my favorite aspects of horror the most, I really hope that one ends up in the game.
-
As a long time fan of the books, I've always wanted to see Maze Runner in DBD. The Glade has so much potential for cool map design, Grievers would be terrifying to be chased by (and with more non-humanoid killers in the game could be a possibility now), and the MC Thomas has pretty great potential for perks with all the stuff he does throughout the story.

I forgot to mention: I had come up with ideas for the Lich's Perks. Was hoping to get an opinion on them!
Dark Arrogance | The Killer takes an additional 1d6 damage when being stunned, but gains a 15 ft. climbing speed.
Languid Touch | In the area where your encounter is planned, if a creature is spotted by an animal, The Player must make a DC 15 Animal Handling check or lose 1 charge of an item, spell, or ability.
Weave Attunement | After an item has used all of its charges, the creature holding the item must make a DC 15 Strength Check or drop their item. Any items on the ground have a 10 ft. radius that reveals a creature’s exact location to The Killer.
I think those are good ideas for perks! If we're operating under these being added to his existing statblock, I would change Dark Arrogance in a small way. I would give him a 10ft. boost to movement speed, as the fly spell make it so he doesn't really ever need to climb anything.

They say patience is a virtue… but I'm just too excited to see The Lich statblock!
No rush. Take your time! Things as awesome as this are worth the wait!
Hi, sorry to disappoint after so long a wait, but after a lot of back and forth I've decided I won't be doing a statblock for the lich. My joke post from earlier aside, Vecna does exist in D&D already, and it just feels a little wrong to just re design a character that already exists in D&D. It takes a bit of the fun out of it, and quite frankly I don't believe that I would be able to make a better Vecna than the original creators did.
Sorry again to anyone this disappoints. Whenever the castlevania chapter comes out, I will be ready and excited to make a statblock for our new killer though!

I've seen the idea of having the Unknown have skins that replicate the OG survivors floated around a bit.
I think a Dwight-styled Unknown would be really cool.
I've seen that idea too and I'm a huge fan of it. If they were earnable like the old bubba masks were that'd be really cool.
-
I still play him. As far as the last year of content goes, he's probably my most played killer of the bunch. I've been wanting an analog horror type killer for a while now, so now that it exists I'm really happy and playing him a bunch. His UVX can be a bit frustrating to use at time, but his teleport alone is very fun to use, enough so to keep bringing me back to him.
-
First killer match I played was Huntress Lullaby, Retribution, Septic Touch, and Agitation. Seeing that made me go out loud "oh yeah, this is one of the builds of all time"

nope you must consider add-ons when evaluating a killer. I can't say Myers is good, but there are others who perform worse than him. Plus he has basic insta-downs which a Freddy or a Sadako haven't.
Even then tombstone isn't that insane when you recognize that the amount of time it takes to gain enough evil within to get one kill is not too far off from the amount of time it would take to hard tunnel one survivor out of the match, which some killers can do very well. Also the fact that the mori is telegraphed if you know what to look for, which can then be countered by just hopping into a locker. And honestly, I do think base kit map mobility and slowdown are more valuable abilities that an instadown that takes time to build up.

You can mori people on the spot, you just need to look at people and your power lasts long enough that you can safely Prox camp someone for a full hooks Tage without anyone being being able to unhook...
I think if you need to run one or two specific addons in order for that killer to be at all viable, that is a bad killer. And being good at proxy camping is not at all unique to Myers. A lot of killers can do that without needing to build up their power first.
-
Myers for sure. Being able to instantly down people isn't that unique of a thing anymore, and every killer does it much more quickly and easily than Myers does.
-
It's incredibly unlikely they have nothing planned for reworks. The anniversary stream focuses on more big picture stuff, I'm sure reworks will be discussed closer to their actual release.
-
Hello, all due to the fact that I am such a creative genius, I have totally managed to "make" a stat block for the new Killer coming to DBD, based solely off of what was shown during the livestream. I worked very hard on this completely original, totally not copy and pasted content, please do not steal.

Makes me wonder just which creature they're considering. I have my money on The Lich.
It looked like a beholder in the trailer, I doubt that's what we're getting but it would be absolutely wild.

-
For me specifically, this will probably be really funny. I've been doing the "adapting killers into d&d" thread here, so it'll be kinda funny for the latest chapter to just have me go "Yeah, I don't need to adapt this one into D&D cause it literally already exists"
-
It does kinda seem to me like they're not just balancing slowdown perks based on only their own merit, but how strong they are when combined with other slowdown perks. Which is fair I think, since running multiple slowdown perks is a fairly common thing.

give enough time to someone who knows enough about any franchise, and they'll be able to link it.
not even hard, look.
the 3 skulls is the symbol of blackbeard. it's a theory that he'll aquire 3 devil fruits and that he is 3 people in 1. so the 3 skulls merging shows the next chapter is one piece with black beard as the killer.
Sure enough, on youtube I saw someone say that one skull has predator's jawbone, which it barely resembles, if it all

This is probably it, they have been more active about teasing the game.
I feel like it's probably just more to generate hype for an announcement about the game during the anniversary stream, like a release date. MYM released a short time before the last anniversary and people thought there would be a crossover anniversary chapter, but the crossover just turned out to be cosmetics.

Maybe something like "I 8roke out of the void" or wherever it is the husks go

"A 8reakdown of the anniversary stream"

I'm not sure what it's teasing, but I'm sure someone will somehow find a way to link it to FNAF

I have an idea for a trapped hex that's probably one of my favorite perks I've come up with.
Hex: Possession
A hex containing a malicious force.
While this hex totem persists, all skill checks have a 25% chance of being a tremendously difficult skill check.
When this totem is cleansed, the person who cleansed it becomes possessed, and all their skill checks have a 40% chance of being a tremendously difficult skill check.
If the possessed survivor completes the healing action on another survivor, the healed survivor becomes possessed, and the healer loses their possession.
-
@Dj_Faun said:
I had an idea for a number of the Killers, and also making Hex Perks into actual Hex Totems for encounters.
I'd love to share them with you, if I may?
No promises that I'll make adjustments to the stat blocks based on these ideas, but I'm certainly curious about what these ideas might be.
-
@Dj_Faun said:
I noticed that some of the Killers don't have a grapple action and do not share the same immunities. Was this intentional?
Some of the killers missing grapples was unintentional, thank you for pointing that out. But for the Knight's Guards and Victor, them not having grapples was on purpose.
Not sharing the same immunities was also unintentional. After deciding I should start adding petrified and poisoned immunity, I never went back to add those to the older killers. All these killers should be immune to Frightened, Petrified, Paralyzed, Charmed and Unconscious. The poisoned differences were supposed to be intentional for killers like Chucky for example, since it doesn't make sense for a doll to be poisoned.
At some point soon I will make sure to go through the killers and update the complied PDF to fix these inconsistencies, thank you for pointing them out.
-
Twins definitely feel a lot better to play after this update. If Victor's collision were better I would have no issues with this killer anymore.
-
So for question 1, I'm not going to lie, I kinda intentionally avoided giving specific CRs because I felt like I wasn't great at determining what a monster's CR should be. I can say that I kinda tried using the Death Knight, which is a CR 17 monster as a reference point in terms of monster HP, AC attack damage and the sort, . So if I were to estimate their CR, it would probably be in the 15 range or so, give or take a few levels? And yeah, probably not all of them would have the same CR.
For question 2, yes, exposed would function the same as vulnerability, making the targeted creature take double damage under the circumstances described in the attack/ability.
-
@goodfriday said:
Survivors Items all need a serious buff/rework. But I doubt it will happen, the only thing look at is killer add ons.
I doubt it's not being looked at. It's probably just taking longer cause adjusting items has a much more widespread effect than an addon that slightly adjusts a singular killer's power.
-
@MagicJoe said:
I feel the biggest issue with these change (and how chests are right now) is that it would still be worse than just bringing the item with the add-ons you want.
Why would you spend 12 seconds or so searching a box which might give you the item you want/need when you can simply start with that item at the beginning of the match for basically free.
In my not-so-humble opinion, if you want to make chests a bit more useful and worth their cost they should make unique, chest-only items that are guaranteed to pay back in some way. Maybe you can get a toolbox that allows you to repair a single pallet or breakable wall, or a map that lets you see other survivors. Stuff like that. At the very least it would add a new tool for survivors to consider while playing a match, and would be something you can buff/nerf without affecting the balance of regular items.
I agree with this way of thinking. A question I think this raises is "should you be able to take these unique chest items out of the trial?". It could both these items more appealing by being able to keep them, and contribute to the present issue if you manage to just stockpile a large amount of these items in your inventory. Getting to keep them would definitely add tension/excitement matches since if you die, getting another one of those will be more difficult than any other items.
Overall I definitely think the idea would do some good though.
-
@_Onyx_ said:
This is a good concept for a new perk. But a simpler and more logical change to Undone would be this:
Swap the failed repair and heal skill check requirement with a successful repair and heal skill check. In addition, a great skill check awards 6 tokens instead of the 3 gained from a good skill check.
This way there is more chance of the Killer actually getting value out of the perk since Survivors will most likely hit the skill checks that they get. And also, there's a Toolbox add-on that prevents skill checks being triggered while the Toolbox is being used, so if the perk does cause some players issues, they have a counter to it that they're in full control of.
I also like this idea. It does seem like a more straightforward way to adapt how it already works. I might argue that maybe great skill checks should award no tokens though, punishing players for hitting the more difficult skill checks feels a little bit backwards to me.
-
Unless the specific survivor that's in danger has saved my behind a few times in that match I usually just well. I know darn well that getting hooked in endgame usually means the killer will try everything in their power to secure that last kill (it's me, I'm that killer), and I kinda really want the extra BP that comes with escaping.
-
When it was actually in that state originally, I never even considered using that perk. Funnily enough, now I can think of specific instances where a 10 second hook respawn would have been very useful. Still probably wouldn't run it now though since those cases are pretty infrequent.

They should probably put a link to it in the General News section to be honest.
As for the Twitter sidebar, that's a third party embed and it's broken on their end. That's all to do with Elon torching the website, not BHVR.
Ah, I kinda had a feeling the twitter changes had something to do with it's functionality, that makes sense.

Meanwhile cheaters have ways to bypass the Egc holding games hostage forever yeah that sure did accomplish nothing
Wow, the people who bypass the rules make the games not function as intended? Wild.
-
The devs have stated multiple times that the point of the EGC was never to put additional pressure on survivors during the end game. It was put in as a way to force matches to end. It currently accomplishes that goal, so it's fine as is.
-
Demogorgons. I used to play him a bunch and feel like I got pretty good with him, so I kinda enjoy judging how others play demo. Most demo players neglect one aspect of his power, either his shred or his teleport. When I see a player that know how use all aspects of his power well it excites me cause it's like "oh nice! someone who realizes his full capabilities". I always make sure to let them know they played him well at the end of the match.
-
If I feel like I played a bit sweatier than they were prepared for, or if I feel the last person was kinda screwed over by their team I'll typically give hatch if I can find it.
