  • Quentin’s perks are awesome if you like to play more of a support for your team. Wake up is great for objective based/team builds because it’s more for the aura reading for show teammates where to go while they are in a chase distracting the killer or going for a save. Pharmacy is great for addition/substitute for self care. And Vigil is still a great perk even with the nerf, don’t forget it helps get rid of those status affects quicker which can save your life. Also if you buy the DLC Freddy’s perks are super fun too and look like they will go perfect with the new killer, The Spirit’s” perks too 😬
  • If it’s the slit girl and her terror radius is like the witch from left 4 dead I’m going to be clinching something fierce..
  • Maybe depending on the amount of survivors left in the match you can get a second barrier to appear? I love this perk even though it’s situational.
  • Agressive build- dead hard, boil over, kindred, bond. (You can help friends out and find others to heal you too if you lose aggro from the killer)

Stealthish - Lightfoot, dance with me, resilience, windows of opportunity (you can lose killers with the lack of scratch marks and plan out your escapes. Also resilience helps you vault quicker while injured which is surprisingly a savior)

Team - bond, leader, kindred, prove thyself (focused on objectives and helping others)

Switch some stuff out and have fun with it. A lot of people hate boil over but I love it. It’s so funny to watch killers panic to find a hook in time
  • I honestly don’t think you should gain or lose any sort of rank if you’re in SWF. Yeah it’s fun to play with friends trying to survive but communicating is a huge boost to survivability of teammates. Therefore you should only earn rank points if you’re playing solo but you can of course earn bloodpoints and level up characters in SWF.
  • I’m so happy you can’t change names on PS4. There are quite a few toxic people and they are easily avoided because the feature you suggest doesn’t exist.
  • In the QnA they said they are buffing solo survivors to be on par with SWF. I understand the scare from that and some ideas look sketchy but before every killer main freaks out they also said they will have a better idea of where Killers are too once they’ve addressed this issue. So once this is implemented a patch with killer buffs will come through next to counter act it. This game is literally going to be a back and forth for at least another year guys. Stop freaking out and give the devs some worthwhile feedback to make sure this game is as fun as possible On Both Sides.
  • Open handed/kindred/boil over is a nice combo I’ve seen.
  • I’ve been running sprint burst and vigil since the rework a couple times and it’s actually pretty fun to get to hold onto a sprint burst if it’s about off of cooldown. That way I can have more control of sprint burst unlike before the patch when it would go off before I really wanted it to. Sprint burst hasn’t changed that much survivors just can’t play it without thinking now
  • I think they should make gens more difficult and fun to begin with. They should also add skill checks to totems dull or otherwise as well as as skill checks to the exit gate. I don’t know how you could make it more fun though
  • I like the idea of being able to stun the killer but not being able to be set free without the help of your teammates or another perk (boil over anyone?). I honestly don’t think the non obsession should get any benefit from it. It’s a very powerful perk and if you’re not the obsession you’re SOL. It would make people be hesitant to bring it as a filler perk and survivors will be more inclined to fill their slots with more obsession perks to increase their chances of getting to use DS in the match. Maybe if you have DS and you’re not the obsession you can’t use it unless the true obsession is sacrificed or killed so there wouldn’t be the possibility of multiple stuns? Just thoughts.
  • I love playing the Pig because bear traps are basically mini ruins with added benefits with certain add ons (love blinding traps). Also she’s really fun to play against because unless she’s in a chase you’re constantly on edge (unless spine chill/premonition) and the jigsaw boxes add another really fun layer. Thirdly Saw is amazing 😉
  • I’ve been using Sloppy butcher with other add ons that hinder/blind/cause exhaustion (pig/huntress/clown) and it has been awesome. The mangled effect is a nerf to self care alone unless they have a medkit
  • I wish the diration would be increased. if the killer is nearby a completed gen it’s quite difficult to mentally note totems and chests but maybe that’s the intent.
  • It doesn’t really counter bbq because at 2 stacks it’s 40 meters at tier 3 of sole survivor and bbq range is over 40 meters. Therefore you still have to be in range or behind a gen like before so that’s a bummer. Also the perk doesn’t light up when you start earning stacks which is a bug presumably. It’s still a fun perk for solo runs or with OoO but it definitely doesn’t feel like any game changer to where survivors may get more toxic and let teammates die for the benefits. Ace in the hole is where it’s at though!
  • Ps balanced, quick n quiet, and dance with me is god tier on some maps it’s insane
  • You have to make sure it’s a high enough fall. Sometimes it does not register small ones like how lithe doesn’t proc during chase at times. Just keep using it and you’ll learn which falls will be escape routes. By far my favorite exhaustion perk and even more in love now with the recent buff
  • It saves me from basement hooks all the time. I love using in on aggro builds because it can waste time and provides more opportunities for teammates to help. It’s not going to work most of the time but it is hilarious to see killers jerk from side to side. PS open handed, kindred, and boil over is quite nice
  • Yep no dlc.. Heart sank quite a bit ugh more waiting
  • Yeah do both sides. You learn how to be better in the game in general and bbq will help you get bp up real quick.

I main Nea/Laurie but will be Kate in a couple hours 😀 but for killer Pig/Freddy/Huntrrss
  • Yeah I was doing the math while grinding for cosmetics and it is pretty crazy how much longer it takes to get shards. I definitely get the grind but they said on their stream that shards would increase in roughly the same amount time. What this is, is sand paper rough..
  • Don’t forget they are doing balance changes inbetween every new chapter so it’s not like they are just moving forward and not looking at past issues. They said in a recent steam (one in June) that they hear our concerns but can only focus on a little bit at a time. The perk rework will be around the corner so we can see how much that helps change up the game on both sides of coin
  • Maybe make it activated like dead hard but you can only use it when you’re uninjured? Or maybe you get a penalty to exhaustion regeneration if you’re injured instead?
  • Just run urban/vigil with your exhaustion perks when the update hits. I get balanced landing/ lithe back all the time just from that. I think that light foot will be indirectly buffed from this since it will still help while sprinting. The exhaustion perks are overrated anyway you only need one true shot of losing sight of the killer to juke him or her
  • Yeppers peppers. I’ve had 1000 shards and max bp since they announced the cosmetic shop and loved both the survivor and killer’s new play styles but now meh. I wish they didn’t announce it so early but lesson learned I suppose and they said it wouldn’t be like this again. 🤞🤞🤞
  • Love that idea as a survivor you should never feel safe even at the end game.
  • I’m actually looking forward to the perk changes in the mid chapter patch than 2.0.. I feel like I’ve already know basic strategies of the Kate perks and the clown so that’s old news. Hopefully we won’t have a delay on that patch or worse they wait to release it all together..
  • Ignore zombie he’s just a troll like so many people in this game and forum. Nice ideas but like the idea better of having another objective on top of gens/totems. Nice keeping lower ranks in mind as well
  • Boil could save you from being put in the basement though if the killer doesn’t see the auras of close hooks. It could even make it so the killer doesn’t go for close hooks on maps like the game and doc map
  • If it’s not this week they should at least update it so we can increase our shards past 1000. It would give us console players an incentive to play and then we are compensated with the ability to get some cosmetics; probably cheaper ones though from what it looks like with shard prices.
  • 1.) balanced landing (my favorite exhaustion perk and I can actually lose the killer with it or create distance) also with the exhaustion nerfs this will still be viable because it has a passive while you’re on cooldown.
2.) pharmacy (so much better than self care in terms of healing speed and I’m a plunderer at heart)
3.) plunderers instincts (see above but I rarely put these together on a build it seems redundant)
4.) Streetwise (omg why are people not using this more? If you are working on a gen with someone else your toolbox charge stays up soooo much longer. Also pairs well with 2 and 3)
5.) lightweight/technician (depends on what type of stealth I want to focus on)
  • If you’re having trouble with pallets, yes use perks to help counter the issue. That simple I know it’s hard for you to believe that you can change up your strategy
  • Um so survivors are supposed to just go down when they are found? It’s called outsmarting your opponent and tricking them to go certain directions, be that killler or survivor. It’s all a mind game, either get better at it or if you’re killer use brutal strength, enduring, fire up and you will get rid of a weakness you have
  • 1.) Nea - her perks are ninja-eque
2.) Quentin - really fun perks to run as a semi-support
3.) Laurie - that scream queen though (and please give us an older Jamie Lee skin devs!) and her perks make the game more intense
    4.) Feng - her perks
    5.) Claudette - almost everyone’s first main
  • Nowadays in my games, if a killer camps they basically lose because the rest of us just get gens done. The only time it doesn’t work is if a a fellow survivor is trolling or it’s low rank.
  • Just hide behind gens if you’re far from the hook. BBQ is quite easy to counter especially with the color changes to gens in the update. I play PS4 and still have no trouble avoiding high rank bbq killers with this strat
  • Was going to buy the DLC but like everyone is saying the hype is dead.. trying to be patient is hard when you see streamers have been playing for weeks with the PTB.. ugh first world probs
  • In high ranks on PS4 I always see either ruin, noed, devour hope, or any combination of the three. Lower rank killers usually don’t have multiple perks unlocked yet
  • Lightweight just makes your scratch marks last for less time on the ground so it would synergize but not stop them from appearing like dance with me

Since self-care is such a powerful and popular perk, it is always such a hot topic of debate of what to do with it to make it not feel like a crutch but also have a mechanic that has been in the game since launch. It seems as though every survivor mains’ first character was Claudette for the sole purpose of unlocking that game changing perk to every other survivor web (myself included). Therefore I have come up with an idea for self care, as well botony knowledge, to give survivors a tool to help survive but killers a way to counter it (without relying on perks) as well as instilling that sense of fear survivors should feel. This is my main problem with the perk. You Feel Too Safe.

Alas, SC should not be able to used indefinitely. If a survivor can always heal themselves, that removes the need for teamwork and it makes it harder for killers (especially certain lower tier) to dwindle down survivors to an uneven extent. This is a 4v1 not a 1v1. So, give the perk at each tier one self heal use. That means at each rank of self care you may heal yourself up to the extend of three full heal cycles (a max of 3). However if a survivor fails a self healing skill check, or the killer downs them before they fully heal up, the survivors lose whatever percentage of charge from those mistakes. That means they will not be able to fully heal unless they have enough charges in reserve. This will make survivors much more cooperative and not just mindlessly self heal. They must be clever when using the perk like you must with so many others. Survivors will be rewarded however for those good plays and if they saved their charges throughout the match and their teammates are out, they still can take care of themselves for a limited time, but the clock is ticking!

With botony knowledge, since these two perks go hand in hand, just add the ability to self-heal once at tier 2 and twice at tier 3 while keeping the healing buffs at each rank. This way it can stack with your self care charges if you want to play a survivorlist/support class, or you can just run botony knowledge and have a self heal in your back pocket just in case (with that healing speed increase to boot)

The key here is that survivors can not heal themselves indefinitely. This is a horror game and being injured without that ability adds so much more tension.

Sorry for the long post but hope you all find it interesting and sparks healthy discussion. What do you think?

One nerf, or the other, not both. Also, devs have said many times it’s not a team of survivors, just people who CAN cooperate

Botony knowledge would not be nerfed it would be buffed because you get additional self heals without medkits along with your increased healing speed. It’s just so survivors can have even more of reason to combo them but give up a perk slot to do so. And that’s fine that survivors don’t have to help but I don’t believe that they should be able to heal indefinitely. It’s literally the most used perk across all platforms the last time devs showed that graph and that’s just sad. Same with hex ruin on the killers side, but that’s a whole other discussion.

My issue with this idea of making SC a "free medkit" is that we already have a perk that does that: Pharmacy.

Ehm, no? Pharmacy gives you a guaranteed emerg. med kit on your first search, faster chest searching and reduced noise. Nothing of what he suggested has anything to do with this in the slightest.

I think he means more like make it a token based system, almost the same as Stake Out can build up tokens, with Self Care you would be working down until 1 token/1 full self healing cycle is consumed.
Med-Kits could slow down the speed at which the tokens get consumed as well as speed up the self healing process.

Yes quite similar to the token system. And I wouldn’t mind if it medkits actually help you save up your self heals. That way you could even combo with pharmacy and be a mega healer for the team or for yourself. However you want to play.
  • Laurie for the horror history (please give us an older Jamie Lee Curtis skin devs!) but Quentin for his perks and that awesome beanie
  • Everything is amazing except her scream. Please devs don’t make our ears bleed with headphones

  • I would be all for these changes if the game was balanced. Sorry but I oppose any surv buffs until us Killers get some actual love.

That’s why I would only want the slightest number changes as passives. They are also meant to go side by side with their own perks (loyal to lore and all that shiz). For example instead of 3% leadership with Dwight you would give off 4% if you ran the perk. But otherwise it’s a flat 1% and the killer will know that Dwight will probably have others near him in the game. If you ever played Friday, Jason can prioritize his kills depending on the counselor. If he sees a Deb (slow) running by herself vs a Vanessa (fast) then he go from there. So killers in DBD can do the same thing since half of the game is all mind tricks behind survivors and killers anyway.

Balance will always be an issue and no one side will ever be happy. I play killer as well and think that what each brings to the table is very unique (except that leatherbilly...) but certain killers should definitely get some TLC for sure in general. If more passives would be given to killers to further specialize perk builds and playstyles I’m all for it.

I'd love to see something like this, maybe people would be more inclined to switch up who they play more often.

I'd still be all about my Dwightypoo, but I'd actually put some time into Jake based on this tbh.
Just something to make the different survivors more than just a skin would be awesome.

Just the slightest nudge towards certain play styles or to create different combinations of perks based on the character. I’ve played every survivor except Jake because I got all his perks with shards. Just like how killers have their unique feels it would be cool to see it on the other side.
  • Well some killers already have passives but maybe some should get some tlc. Wraith’s new passive to see blood trails without his perk was a great choice. Michael already has a very small terror radius. Maybe give the trapper skill checks to survivors on trap disarmings?
  • Here’s a thought for Self-care:

Since this is a survival horror the fear of being hit is not a thing while running SC. Therefore keep it as is but give it a limitted amount of usage. For example you can only self heal to full a certain amount of times (one per tier maybe). Not only that if the survivor messes up skill checks that error will cost them the ability to fully heal if they run out of uses. They can get close but won’t be able without help from a medkit or ally. With this it’s more strategic when it comes to using the perk AND will make survivors be more collaborative with one another if they want to up their chances of survival. PS with botony knowledge (since I see people giving it smack) give it a buff on those uses of self care on top of the increased healing. That way you can run it by itself you so desire (for one or two self heals) or to give major synergy with self care. Hopefully this made enough sense, thoughts?
