  • This is wonderful!!! I think that’s probably why they make the blight event interactive mechanic for survivors not a generator. It’s an extra side quest that lets you unlock stuff, and distracts from generator rushing at the same time. I dig this.

Yay for event hooks not being sabotaged! I didn’t have much of an issue with the summer bbq event, but I know my cousin did because he’s like 8, and he’ll be psyched about this.

No, he asked you why you think it matters, asked what you gained from knowing it, and then said it wasn't a part of the lore that impacts the game. You're reading things that aren't there.

    ^That

And quite frankly, @TheLegendDyl4n1 regarding the attitude you portray in this thread, you are part of why some people dislike those identifying as LGBTQ.

Representation is an incredibly important aspect of human culture, and important for marketing when it comes to expanding your target audience. As someone who is queer, it would make me happy to see someone I can relate to on a deeper level who is in this scenario.

Specifically I have experienced trauma related to being queer, and I literally use this game sometimes as a form of relief and therapy. There’s something healing about being in a safe space and using a survival horror game to relieve an assault experience and survive. Especially unscratched.

My trauma doesn’t specifically lie with just being queer, but other crazy experiences as a child related to a neigbor next door with a knife. So horror games and horror movies in general work as a sort of therapeutic experience for me. But to reiterate it would be nice to see someone who I can relate to a little more when playing survivor.

As others have asked before: why does it matter? What would it give you to know someone's sexual orientation in this game? That's really not the part their lore or back-story should focus on as it's irrelevant to the game. If this were some triple-x homage of Dead by Daylight, it would be a different story.

any lore related question can be asked here so again as i will say you need to leave the lore area if your going to complain about every lore related question you dont like or cant comprehend

Maybe you should leave instead since you continuously refuse to answer an honest question.

You’ve already been given an answer, it seems you’re just struggling to comprehend it.

It matters because of representation. And I absolutely disagree, it should not only be implemented if this site were some triple x homage. That’s grossly ignorant. Why should it only be relevant if there’s gonna be a over sexualized fan base? Queer characters can show intimacy without getting oversexualized, and that association of it needing hyper sexalization and only being valid in that circumstance is rather inappropriate.

This game is about showing people from different walks of life struggle to survive. I’d like to know because it’s just as interesting a detail to me as Claudette being a botany student, or meg being a runner who didn’t pursue her dreams to take care of her mother.

It doesn’t have to be the mai aspect of a character’s identity, but it is valid to view it as an element that would critically shape the experiences of the survivor and thus influence their personality and position in life.

Last, I don’t understand why you’re posting here asking why the sexuality matter s here, but not posting over in the “Claudette’s love interest” thread making the same points. The fact you are only posting about this issue in a thread about lgbtq representation and not in threads talking about romance and sex in general appears like your issue is focused on the lgbtq element itself and not about representation of romance and sexuality.

My issue lies with people wanting to be represented at all cost and especially for the sake of it, which OP's request is.

As for Claudette's love interest, I don't post in every single thread on this forum. My "interest" in this thread was mainly its title and that my buddy Orion was the last one to post in it when I saw it.

Wanting to be represented at all costs? What did they sacrifice or “pay” or say should be given up for the chance to have a queer character? I don’t recall them saying anything should be removed from lore or taken away to have that representation

  • They created a perk specifically for if you fall into this circumstance called Left Behind. Gens take i believe 80 seconds without a boost. Left behind causes the next three gens to take 45/53/64 seconds.

Accumulating those seconds, it takes 162 seconds, or cuts the time of 3 gens down to the time it takes to complete 2 gens.

These perks exist to help you in different circumstances, and not guarantee a win.

If you have Resilience can boost it by another 3-9%, turning the completion time to 41/48/59. That saves you another 14 seconds. That saves you 92 seconds of generator work, if by yourself with three gens left to do, taking a total of 148 seconds, or 2 minutes and 28 seconds.

Pair this with Deja Vu, and you’ll be bake to map out how to leave the generators that are furthest from each other. That will maximize the killers travel time around the map.

Fourth I’d suggest either urban evasion or lightweight so you can move around the map easier without being detected.

    Left Behind
    Resilience
    Deja Vu
    Urban Evasion

There are lots of perks that play with different gaming styles, if you’re concerned about not doing well in a certain circumstance, it doesn’t hurt to spec for it if you find yourself dealing with it regularly.

If you don’t have these these perks, you can always run up to the killer and trick them into hitting you and then jumping into the hatch as they recover from the swing. Unless they specifically have Unrelenting Equiped at level 3, they hitting you first will make it so you can escape most times. If injured, search chests to find a medkit. There are options.

  • @Entità

I’m literally just stating it’s possible. You don’t need to be a genius to achieve this. I appreciate the compliment, if it’s meant to be one, and if it’s sarcasm, you can have a civil discourse without being rude.

I don’t see the point in you mentioning the game starts with four survivors. I never said the game should be altered to start with three. But survivors die, and you’re supposed to keep playing and try to survive even as they do die. Of course it gets harder when survivors die off, but the size of the map and the amount of generators that need to be patrolled provide enough time to escape a killer and work on gens without being caught.

I think you’re being rather ignroant by claiming that the “only reality” is a stand off. It’s all about playing a good game and outsmarting the other player. Neither side is entitled to the hatch, and if people chose to not work on generators or chose to not patrol generators then of course a stand off will happen. It’s both players fault for not doing anything different.

Are you being defensive because you haven’t achieved this yet? If you keep doing it you eventually will, I don’t think you should discredit yourself or your abilities so much. It’s not as difficult as it sounds. Sure as said before it isn’t a guaranteed win, but sometimes you do.

To avoid a camping killer at the hatch and for some other reasons in the game I have the following idea.

Additionally to the gestures, survivors should be able to jump (just jumping in the air and landing on the same spot).
This jump action (if you want it also can be a perk) increases the field of view in the way, that the camera "jumps" as well, so you can see over obstacles as the killer can see you jumping.
It should have the same animation as the jump you use for taking the hatch. Thus, the killer may think that you are taking the hatch, but instead you are just using a gesture as the survivor, making it possible to avoid a hatch camping killer.

It would be very nice to hear your ideas and maybe a statement from the devs in the future :)

How can we avoid survivor camping of the hatch?

Make it so that survivors lose objective points when they hang around the hatch for a period of rime when the killer isn’t nearby. Make it the same effect they are gonna apply to the hooks to stop killer from camping hooks.

what? im not talking about a survivor camping the hatch and waiting to be the last survivor (which is also a - imo smaller - problem) but about a killer, finding the hatch before the last survivor does.
and ofc waiting for the survivor to come to the hatch, bc, tbh, a survivor cant make like 3 gens on his own and still open the gate.

I've done that more then once. A survivor is very much so capable of achieving a victory while in that perdicament. It just takes time learning how to do it. Avoiding the killer and building up multiple generators. For each one you complete it gets more challenging sure, but no different then a 1 vs killer where you have 2 gens left, or 1 generator left.

Keep in mind the killer also needs to patrol the gens, or you're going to finish them off while they camp that hatch. And if they end up coming after you/leaving the hatch, then you have time to run to another gen or go for the hatch itself. It's definitely possible to do.

And lets say you die. You still built up survival points and escape points for avoiding them, and you'll get more blood points from a chase as well. Sometimes the funnest games are the ones where you are at a huge disadvantage because you pull off these crazy games where you made it.

  • Looking up renders them useless, I haven’t worried about flashlights since learning that. I haven’t been stunned by one in like 4 months, give it a try.

  • What is this in reference to? I can’t place what horror movie you might be referencing.

  • This is wonderful news! This fixes the issue of selfish players on both sides who DC constantly. This fixes my biggest issue with the game. Id rather be body blocked by a survivor, blinded by a flash light, tunneled by a killer or camped then for either side to DC. The game is at least playable when people can't DC all the time, thank goodness that'll make it so games actually...happen. hahaha.

as for the game been held hostage, that's another grand step for them to take after this one. What would you suggest as a solution to stop it when players on either side take a game hostage? a video recording? maybe a time limit for how long a game has persisted after an exit gate has opened, or the hatch has been available? If a survivor doesn't leave 5-10 minutes after then they get no blood points for survival, and it is assumed they are sacrificed since they "couldn't escape"?

edit: as for when a killer takes a game hostage, I'm not sure how to combat that, but that also needs to be addressed.

  • Totems are essentially either:

    a) a perk that is annoying enough that players don't do generators and instead focus on seeking out totems to destroy, prolonging the game and making it easier for the killer to get more hooks, ie; Ruin

    b) a perk that is so strong that it is made to purposefully be potentially removed because it would be too powerful without the option of removing it, ie; NOED

Hex: Thrill of the Hunt helps a bunch, especially when you play Hex Perk heavy characters like the Hag.

They definitely need to get a boost with how they are hidden, as well as add skill checks. Maybe instead of pressing R1, the button can be random and change. sometimes R1, sometimes x, or square, etc.

Or maybe a killer can spend time rebuilding the totem. That would be interesting to be able to have that option. It could even give points for worshiping the entity. Also, it would be could to reinforce the Totems if you so choose when playing killer. like maybe it will produce a new graphic with a larger totem that takes 1.5 times as long to cleanse?

  • I love this idea simply because I have lost way too many add ons to survivors and killers who DC. I feel like some offerings are useless because as soon as someone sees certain offerings a killer or survivor DCs right away >.<

  • I wouldn’t make hanging off of the ledge put you in a dying state. I’d make the ledge an interactive part of the map that could be used for hiding but that would also make you vulnerable to the killer.

If you are at the healthy status when hiding on a ledge:
Letting go of the ledge will drop you and you’ll be fine
If the killer forces you to fall, you go into the injured state

If you are at the injured status when hiding on a ledge:
Letting go will cause broken or mangled status, making you easier to track
If the killer forces you to fall, you go into the dying state.

If you RUN off of the ledge In the healthy status:
You go from healthy to injured status

If you run off of the ledge while injured:
You acquire mangled or broken status effect.

  • What if you could hang off of a ledge for a good four minutes that doesn’t reduce your dying meter, and this new meter restarts every time you start to hang off a ledge.

It gives you the ability to pull yourself up at a 100% chance every time, but if a killer grabs you while the survivor is hanging, you automatically go onto their shoulder like when you’re found in a locker or grabbed off of a gen.

Maybe the visual effect of the killer “grabbing” you could be forcing you to drop and you land on the ground in the dying state.

BUT if you let go, you don’t go into dying state, you instead drop to inured if full health, or if already injured you acquire a negative status effect to reflect further injury, like mangled or broken.

It gives survivors a new way to hide, and killers a new way to grab their victims. Survivors can choose to let go, and doing so will give them a chance to escape but they will be easier to track.

I really like this idea but I feel it needs to be tweaked.

  • Typically, the three set perks for the survivor and then a fourth that sounds fun.

  • I used to have this issue too until I improved my internet. I actually started as a killer main but switched to a survivor main until I improved my internet speed. Dedicated servers is what we need, and though it’s been said it won’t likely happen I think they only way to get them is to constantly persist.

It happens a lot of the ps4, and if the killer isn’t lag switching then I find it inappropriate for them to host a game that severely cripples survivors by causing them to teleport because of poor internet.

I don’t think it should be the responsibility of the killer to be concerned with this though, and it’s something the developers need to fix.

  • Camping is boring. The real way to solve this issue is to give survivors another way to escape or add another step to the current escape system, as well as adding another way to sacrifice survivors. A second escape objective would slow down generator rushing, and a second way to sacrifice would take away the monotony of hooking survivors and camping.

I don’t think making gen repairs slower is going to improve the game overall.

The two main issues are gen rushing and hook camping. You just need to give each side more to do.

  • It would ruin the survival horror aspect of the game when you get into an intense chase and are running for the gate. Just use blood warden

  • I could see the survivor dropping one health state, or more likely getting a negative status effect when they jump from a second story, but going directly into dying state wouldn’t be very fun.

I do like the idea of another think putting people into the dying state, but I’m not a fan of a second story jump doing it right away.

  • Essentially never. I’ve given it like twice in all the time I’ve played. Sometimes I’ll pretend to give it and then grab or mori them when they try and jump in, lol.

  • I think I’d dig that! If you could set your killer and your survivor and play whoever! That would be a cool game mode to add, and I’d use it all the time.

  • My least favorite to go against is probably the Doctor since you can be hiding super well and you’ll scream and give away your position, lol. Second is Freddy because sometimes it’s impissible to know if you’re actually hiding from him, standing ina spit he’ll wander over to, etc. I like being sneaky and these two make it difficult.

My favorite to go against is probably....the Spirit because her power is so unpredictable and will cause a jump-spook from time to time. Wraith is fun too, as well as the Nurse. Which I also think are the three funnest to play.

Since rank has no actual value, disconnect away.  Has some do it to me on the game map, ok bye i guess?

It's not about IF rank matters, but if I start playing survivor and the first one downed DCs and the second one DCs because the first one DCs... I am screwed as a survivor.

If a killer DCs, technically the game ends which sucks more then having a challenge and trying to survive with two survivors. I don’t support survivor DCs, but I hate it more when a killer DCs because at least if a survivor DCs I have a chance to play through the game as a killer or a survivor.

I find it more aggravating when a survivor DCs as a killer though. It makes it too easy.

Survivor are far more worse than killer. Because they do not screw over the killer, but the rest of the survivor.

As someone who plays both killer and survivor, both are jerks and ruin the game, both are the worst, I dislike players who suck at the game or pull stupid tactics, not a specific side.

It’s ignorant to try and blame one specific side. I see both killer mains and survivor mains do selfish and stupid stuff to the other side. The rift between the community is caused by both sides being jerks and seeking revenge, or being jerks and exploiting certain mechanics simply because they can.

Actually they are all gay AND all straight lore wise.

Why? Because it has been confirmed alternate reality versions exist within the entity which allows for the multiple dwights etc.

Which means, there is a straight shirtless jake for every gay shirtless for every bi shirtless jake and so on forever and ever amen.

Multiple versions of the same Survivor was said to be purely a game design choice, not tied to the lore.

Actually they said initially it had been introduced as a game mechanic, but the also stated it was reasonable to attribute that mentioned lore as a reason for their multiple outfits and multiple appearances in a gaming session.

As for specific sexual preferences, I don’t think we will get those because of the fluidity of of characters and their origins/alternate versions. It would be nice to have specific representation, but I think that it won’t be covered because they aren’t going to touch on that aspect in this game, straight or gay, etc.

If they do, it would be neato, but I feel it’s not needed.

Did we get variations/recolors of her new outfit or just one base outfit? I'm stuck at work ugh.. Screenshots anyone?!
As far as I’m aware they have only shown the one color scheme but based on their release pattern she will have 3 colored versions of the Alpine Frost one. The Katriot costume probably only has one set up.
  • What if survivors were in first person until they interacted with an object like a generator, chest, totem, hook, etc. it would still severely limit POV, and still provide the interesting cinematic scenes we get from third person when playing survivor. I would be sad to lose that, and I definitely think third person can add a horrro aspect because seeing the killer follow you from behind is stressful from time to time and I think that it would be less visually appealing to always have them in first person. Seeing an ally get attacked a few meters from you shows you what will happen to you if you get caught and adds to the stress and fear of it.
  • Though in general I despise camping, I can say that I have from time to time because of the Whispers perk and people running for a save RIGHT AWAY, which forces me to search for the other survivor in the area and not patrol.

I think some people are jerks with camping, but I do think it’s a legitimate and sometimes accidental tactic brought on in response to what other survivors are doing once an ally is hooked.

Ive sent messages to survivors telling them I’m sorry for essentially camping and tunneling but explaining that I already knew another survivor wa sin the area, and that it’s sinpmy stupid to leave a survivors on a hook when whispers is telling me someone is behind a brick wall or a tree a couple meters away.

I definitely wander arkund round the area, I don’t just sit in front of the hook.

But it I also think certain killers are built with camping as a purposeful tactic. The wraith and Michael Myers in example. You can avoid tunneling when camping though, and choose to go after the new survivor.

I think being an obsession is a valid circumstance to tunnel, because they are....your specific obsession for the game.

Thats my general take take on it.
  • This is happening at all levels right now, with both survivor and killer. I am a rank 8 killer and rank 11 survivor and I experience this all the time on both sides sadly

  • Honestly that is such a different perk, you might as well just call it a different one.

This doesn’t improve knockout, but I would like it if they reduced the aura reading by 8 meters for each level so it’s harder to find survivors who are in a dying state.

In a perfect world what would a surv set up look like? One where you wouldn't be inclined to lobby dodge?

I can't answer that for you.  Well, what I mean is, I can't give you THE definitive answer.  I dont presume to speak for all killers.

I will leave the lobby if all 4 people join at same time AND one of the following conditions are met; MORE than 2 toolboxes OR dont ready up

So as long as it's an easy game or that it lasts longer?

You guys need 3 toolboxes to complete gens?  If you suck that badly, then you're not ready to play against me.  I'm taking it easy on you by not forcing you into a game with me.

As someone who also plays killer, it sounds like you’re making an excuse because you don’t wanna lose.

  • Anyone who cherry picks for lobby’s is a sore loser. I play killer nearly every day, multiple times a day, and I don’t experience most of what I’ve been reading people complain about. It’s a GAME. You’re gonna lose sometimes.

Just don’t play the game, that’s my advice. People who play killer and lobby dodge ruin the game for everyone. You don’t know which survivors are going to actually be jerks, and your inference is more likely inaccurate.

This is a classic example of the flawed decision making of consequentialism. People THINK they know what will happen, so they make a decision without considering the deontological aspect. Most people who cherry pick lobby’s are ignorant and make a uniformed decision. Simple as that.

Leave the game with killers who will actually commit to a match.

    @not_Queen we need dedicated servers.

I agree, but I wonder how as well. It the entity actively altering reality? Does this dimension remove the need for sustainence? Are they dead and in some limbo? Or does it have something to do with the he fact that time works different in the entities realm, and time doesn’t truly pass by?

And if the survivors were to escape SOMEHOW, would the go back tot heir place and time or some random place and time?

  • Lobby dodging is the worst though! It punishes solo players too who have no choice if paired with SWF.

I dig a separate server for SWF than with solo players. That would fix a lot of issues I have with lobby dodgers

  • I find it interesting that Lisa’s story shows the entity can effect the real world, not just in the sense of grabbing someone like Kate, but it gave Lisa some strange form of life/strength to eat and dismember the cannibals before being brought to it’s realm.

She is the only killer that I recall who was empowered by the entity before being brought to the new dimension. Maybe Rin because I thought she killed her father, but it only says her eyes clouded over and then she closed them when I read her profile.

Anyway, maybe the reason she is the only one to be empowered by the entity in the real world was because those old symbols?

I’m basing this off of the PS4 descriptors, I’m not sure if there’s much difference with the PC descriptions but some people have told me there were slight tweaks.

I thought it was because she was a ghost

Same! I always assumed it was because she was supposed to be their “ghost” killer. Also why I thought they also gave her a monochromatic off-white styling from head to toe.

  • It would be cool if the pig could refill her RBTs at the puzzle-boxes, just like how the huntress does with lockers.
