It's why I run Blood Warden
Sure, it's likely it costs me way more games than it helps me (as I'm effectively playing most matches with only 3 perks) but I don't think there's a better high in this game period than hooking a jerk survivor squad when there is less than one minute left on the EGC...
-
As a survivor, you can screw up time and time and time and time and time again and still get away (you have a bunch of second chance perks and three teammates to rely on if you're having an off time or if you just suck :D)
As a killer, every single mistake can mean you went from 4K to 0K. Hell, against Seal Team SWF, you could make zero mistakes and STILL end up with a 0K. There is very little room for error as a killer so every time you make a whoopsy is magnified and hurts that much more.
Along with that, there are some of these survivor squads who make it their mission to make the game as miserable as possible for the killer. They're not here to win, they're here to win AND to make sure the killer is thoroughly and utterly humiliated in the process.
While you might not feel it in an individual game, it takes a toll on you.

I think the OP is complaining about survivors that keep running to deadzones with no hope of escaping, just purely to BM.
That wasn't my interpretation but you could be right. But to be honest, how often does that actually happen? I can think of that happening once...ever to me where a survivor KNEW where to go for a dead zone and just kept running back to it.
Which yeah, if that's the exact case, slug them and let them lie there and think about what they've done. But based on what my understanding was, this OP just is mad that he can't bring the survivor to whatever hook they want because there's a slim chance the survivor was Flippity Flop or something that might potentially maybe let the survivor escape.
Either way, they can do that if they so choose. If I'm the killer in that situation, unless the survivor is specifically running to dead zones where I have no choice but to slug them or the damn game won't end, I'm just gonna let them struggle. If they somehow manage to get away running somewhere else, I'll get to them and drop them or I'll get unlucky and they'll find the hatch. I'd rather just move onto the next game than really worry all that much about it. But that's just me, it's OPs call how they handle it.
It just feels weird for him to get salty at a survivor for having the audacity to try to survive...
-
I'm...sorry as a survivor for trying to survive?
-
It sucks getting farmed but if a survivor is unhooking me in the face of the killer and the killer strikes me down, I can't really get all that mad at the killer. When I'm the killer, I'll try my best to go after the unhooker instead of the unhooked but I don't expect other killers to play that way.
-
I've actually done that before and the killer just blew me off (either hit me but kept chasing the person they wanted to kill or they just ignored me as I kept trying to get in the way).
If someone wants to tunnel, they gonna tunnel.
-
As soon as BHVR makes it so that the game isn't insanely stupidly grindy, I'll gladly put BBQ away and run something else. But like Kindred as a solo player, it's basically a requirement to have on your character.

When they're being toxic as a survivor, it's "strategy". When the Killer decides to be toxic back, it's the killer being a toxic jerk.
-
FINALLY a good idea from The Forum!
I don't even care what the perk is, I'm on board!
-
Because we hate you obviously!
As a console player, I can't speak for everyone but if I feel like the person who is trying to get the Hatch kind of screwed me/the team over in the process (like they were someone who was hiding towards the end when it was looking hopeless waiting for me to get caught instead since I'd rather get killed doing a gen than hide in the corner), then yeah, I'll hang around on the hook until the bitter end to give the killer the chance to find you and avenge me.
If you were being a good teammate, I'll give up in that situation to try to get you the hatch.
But I can only speak for myself. Maybe the person thought you were being a bad teammate and wanted you punished for it. Maybe they just wanted the survival BP. Maybe it was just instincts and they forgot that no one was around to save them or they were hoping you had Unbreakable and would be getting up to save them. *shrug*

But the reason solo can suck is because there are survivors that cannot do chases or dont do gens even at red rank, when those players dont exist then the game as a solo is pretty close to balanced. No matter the buffing those bad players will still play that way and all that is happened is good solo players just become stronger. For example all my perks are team based to know what they're doing and where, if I'm given that for free Iv now got room for DH and more meta perks that will increase my chase potential which I'm already doing insane chases. The real issue isn't solo que but bad ranking placing terrible survivors in red ranks...
I'd like to think I am at least an above average survivor. I can loop for at least a little bit and mind-game my way away. I often am able to escape from the killer to the point where they'll break the chase and go somewhere else (so I have to be doing at least SOMETHING right).
By the nature of solo though, I am always going to be handicapped with three perks (as I feel to be an effective teammate, I HAVE to have Kindred just so I can see when my team is going to go for the save or if I need to go for the save).
There is no level of git gud that I can do to solve this issue. By the nature of not being able to talk to my teammates, I am at a disadvantage that SWF is not at.
However if you take away that handicap and have everyone at the same (or as close to it as you possibly can without adding mics), you can boost the power levels of the killers to deal with SWFs without making it impossible for me to have a chance as a solo guy. Bad teammates are always going to exist but BHVR can at least give us the tools to try to even the playing field.
-
For myself at least, they go basically completely against my play style.
I like moving around all the time and not camping in one area or one survivor. With The Twins to effectively use them, you are basically forced to camp since you have no way to recall Victor. So it's common I will use Victor to down someone then I either have him sit there and proxy camp or I waste time moving him somewhere else so I don't proxy camp but then he's just uselessly sitting there until someone finally wanders over to give him a good kicking...
-
My understanding of the argument is right now, the game is balanced to the lowest group, solo survivors.
The problem you run into is that killers are getting stomped by SWF crews but if you buff killers to match SWF, solos have minimal chance to survive. But if you don't buff killers, killers are going to keep getting frustrated and quit.
The thinking goes solo should be buffed to SWF information levels, closing the gap between solo and SWF and THEN you can buff killer to match SWF levels without completely ruining the chances to win for solos.

I "bought" it
I paid for the rift when I first started playing (February 2019) and I've used the Shards I've gotten from every Rift since then to keep getting the new rifts. I have since finished this Rift (despite a 3 week break) but I think that's more because I have a problem than because it's not too grindy...
SHUT UP I COULD QUIT WHENEVER I WANT!!!!
...SNIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
-
I will also just eat the DS unless it is the EGC and eating the DS will let them escape. If that's the case, I'll just stand there and stare at the locker until they decide to come out or 60 seconds ticks by...
-
I'm not supposed to tunnel but I'm supposed to eat DS at the beginning or it's my fault for taking DS later...
Got it?
-
I don't think killers care if someone has DC'ed if everyone is down
Based on what I've seen at least, they care when someone DCs when one person is slugged and there is another survivor running around. The slugged survivor is DC'ing specifically to give the last survivor the hatch. The killer wants their 4K and they feel cheated out of it when survivors DC so the killer can't find the Hatch and/or other survivor.
-
FALCON PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH!!!!!
-
TOFU as a DBD Character or GTFO
-
While I'd never purposefully DC (short of you know...something pressing like my house is currently on fire or something), there are definitely games as a killer where I know I'm just off and would probably be better off just throwing in the towel and leaving the game :D
You can't always be at the top of your game and sometimes you're just plain off and can't do anything right. It happens.
-
If you're waiting three to five minutes to decide if you need to play hard against a good team and they are a good team, you'll find out quick because the game will be over in about another minute or two :D
It's a big issue with Red Rank but one I'm not sure how you'd really solve. Killers at Red Rank have to go full on out right away because if they don't and they're playing a good team, it'll be over immediately. If I'm slaughtering a team because it's clear they're an average or below average team, by the time I pump the brakes on them, it's usually too late for them to catch back up (unless I play patronizingly bad just to let them back in the game, which might be even more insulting than just finishing them off; although I've done that for survivors and STILL gotten T-Bagged at the end so I'm not even sure it's worth it as a killer to worry about slaughtering them...).
-
The only thing I don't like about WGLF is that too many people use it and then throw the game to get their own tokens. They'll make saves right in front of the killer (gotta get that save AND a protection hit!!!), they'll abandon finishing a gen about to be done to run halfway across the map to save someone when another survivor is already nearby, and just usually in general play like an idiot to get their precious tokens.
BBQ on the other hand is just going to happen naturally through the game (or hell, it might even be for the survivors benefits; if I have three people hooked and I finally find that damn hiding fourth person, I will commonly abandon the "smart" play of pressuring gens because I want my fourth token).
Honestly to me, WGLF for points boosts might just need more ways to get it. Maybe make it saves/protection hits as well as popping a gen or for escaping chases. There's really no downside gameplay-wise to letting people get tokens with WGLF so any way to give the survivors ways to gain tokens I think is worth looking into.
-
I guess "play a different game" is one way to stay sane playing DBD ๐

Of course I can't! It's not butter but it TASTES like butter!!!!
...wait, what are we talking about again?

I mean...it's ethnical to sandbag/camp/tunnel anyone
It's annoying and nobody likes it but I'm not sure I'm putting "Playing a video game in a way I don't like" up there with the Great Philosophical Questions of Morality...
While I feel bad for normal people who get camped, I'm not gonna shed a tear over someone being an ######### getting punished for it.

They're actually working on that right now - second stage of the hook is about to be changed in such a way that you can't instantly suicide. Even if you ignore the skill checks it just means you die faster but not instantly
I think they need to go further and reward more points for those who actually stick it out and struggle - because you're right.. apparently 2 minutes is too long for most people to sit through being hooked... which I don't get. But evidently most survivors which are supposed to be at least mostly team-oriented are more self-centered than I like.
Yeah, changing it to the skill checks will at least help.
I still have a hard time blaming people who just let themselves die if they're being camped as annoying as it is to me. The game gives them zero incentive to stick around and while four minutes isn't a lot of time in the grand scheme of things, I know for myself, I have a full time job and a house and junk and therefore I only have so much time I can devote to playing a video game. While I personally will not kill myself on the hook for campers, I just have a hard time holding it against someone who chooses otherwise.
Maybe I'm being too soft of them but forcing someone else to waste their time with something incredibly boring (at best, tapping A gets to be a real pain after two straight minutes) with no reward whatsoever; I just have a hard time holding it against them if they decide F THIS and leave.

You can put down the EULA as it doesn't apply here. Devs have repeatedly stated that camping in any form is not bannable and fully allowed over and over and over again.
In fact, they have gone on record to say "Stay on the hook as long as you can, give your team time to do the gens and get out" The idea is that you train killers to NOT camp by pushing the gens.
I will let you hear it directly from their mouths. Sounds to me you either need to learn to accept it's a thing and play around it like the rest of us, or find another game.
To me, the biggest issue with BHVRs stance and something I REALLY wish they'd consider is there's no incentive for a survivor being camped to do that.
As a solo queuer, I have lost far far far too many games because the person getting camped just dies 20 seconds in and I can't even really blame them for it. They (presumably) are solo players so what incentive do they have to kill four minutes of their life to help out strangers in a video game?
Even if it's just a bunch of BP for being a distraction, the camped really should be given something good for willingly sacrificing their time to save their three fellow survivors.
-
I also wish you could. I do not like camping as a killer so I'd much rather have Victor back than have to use him as a camping tool.
Especially because unless the unhooker sticks around to take aggro, you're almost certainly going to have to tunnel the injured instead as they're the only one you can realistically find with Victor.
And yes, I could just ignore it and let them both just get away with it but that's not using my killer resources very well either. It feels like I'm forced to either camp with The Twins and feel like a unsporting jerk of a killer or I'm forced to not get any powers until the survivors kick the ba...kick Victor or the 90 seconds or whatever it is ticks by.
-
It's a natural part of the game. While most of us (including a lot of us killers) don't like it, it's an accepted part of the game and therefore there is nothing to report. As a killer your (ultimate) objective is to kill the four survivors.
While camping is probably one of the least efficient ways to do this as long as the other three survivors do gens instead of standing around hoping the killer gets bored eventually, it's part of the game and will almost certainly never be removed.
-
I'd rather have a fun and sporting game with 0K rather than a boring game where I 4K with camping/tunneling
Ultimately it's up to you what you do though. As long as you're enjoying it, you do you with the mercy or lack of mercy.
-
Abandoning your teammate, while frowned upon, isn't really against the rules
Unless they specifically worked with the killer to make sure you died, they didn't do anything reportable
-
I sincerely doubt it on both accounts
For #1, if they could detect that the survivor purposefully killed themselves to get out of the game, I'd imagine it would be marked as a DC instead
For #2, that also wouldn't ever happen as BHVR has made it perfectly clear that the killers tactics (short of hacking or something) is on the killer (hence tunneling/face camping are considered unsporting but perfect legal moves).
Ultimately though it's not going to matter pretty soon as suicide on hook is about to become kind of a thing of the past since they're removing the Struggle Mechanic...

Hope the game decides that you are worthy and the reveal mechanic actually works for once

wdym she is actually pretty strong now
I've found she's very hit or miss
Now that I'm on the Xbox Series X, she's much better but she still has the problems where her powers can be wildly inconsistent. I've barfed on survivors, watched them react to the barf (so I know I hit them), and then they don't get infected. I've also still experienced barfing at someone going through a window and having none of the barf hit the survivor somehow or the barf getting stopped by an invisible rock that the survivor is evidently hiding behind...
She's certainly not the worst killer but the game seems to struggle with her powers for some reason
-
Don't listen to them my Barfy Girl! I still love you
...even if you do kind of suck as a killer. But you're super fun to play with so whatever!!!
-
Oh sure, I make a humble suggestion that all survivors should be automatically hurt every time they touch a gen and ALLLLLLL of a sudden I'm an entitled killer main who is being unreasonable!
-
The game is designed around the survivors having the third person camera (as well as the killer have a first person camera).
You'd quite literally have to redesign just about every single thing in the game if you wanted to give the survivors first person perspective...
-
It's dumb because it almost certainly cost me games (as I'm effectively playing with three perks) but it's basically why I run Blood Warden
It's incredibly rare that you get the cocky jerk team AND they make a dumb enough mistake that it costs them at the end but my God when you get four jerks killed at the end because you Blood Warden them in with under a minute left, there might literally be no better feeling in this game...
-
@Pulsar said:
It isn't fun.
If you win, it's nice. You get a feeling of satisfaction.
If you lose, you get taunted for the entire game and likely get reminded of it post-game. It's mentally taxing to go through that for multiple games.
This is also a great point
I think there are survivors who really need to take a good long hard look in the mirror as they complain about their queues being so long. There are too many survivors out there who seem to not only want to beat you as the killer but make sure to make it as MISERABLE of an experience as they possibly can towards the killer. They purposefully go out of their way to maliciously attack the killer and make sure the killer experience as awful as they possibly can.
I myself had quit for about three weeks or so after one bad night of getting a few of these games in a row. I eventually did come back but next time I get that frustrated and decide to take a short break, there's a decent chance that my short break eventually becomes never coming back...
-
I think that's the weird part of that argument
Sure, it might be more balanced than it used to be but that doesn't make it balanced.
But it's the real issue of this game; killers are overpowered in the lower ranks because survivors don't know how to really game the system. As you go up in ranks, you're running into survivors who know every little trick that makes it damn near impossible for a killer to have a real chance unless they play flawlessly (and even then it might not be enough against a coordinated SWF).
I don't really know how you'd fix it.
-
...this is the greatest day of my entire life
Now granted, that's not a high bar to get over but still!
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
-
Pretty much
His knives are wildly inconsistent, especially on console (I have heard they're better on PC but "better" is relative). Unless the survivor has run themselves into the deadest of dead zones and you're so on top of them that legally you might now owe them breakfast, using the knives takes far far far too long to get a hit with and it's easier to just smack them with his knock off light saber.
I was kind of hoping there might be some trick to him or something that I'm just not doing right but if there is some kind of secret to using him, I have no idea what it is or even a hint to it...

I blame Victor for tipping the locker over when he was holding it closed!
They say you're more likely to be killed by a vending machine falling over and crushing you than you are a shark attack
Victor took a gamble on shaking the locker to get a treat to fall out and lost hard...
-
I think it helps playing the mid to low tier killers because you go in not expecting to do well (or maybe that's just me). A lot of the pressure of doing well is lifted as you don't really expect to be able to compete with the bad killers so if you lose, it was expected and if you win, it's an extra little boost to the ego.

Yeah, I thought that too, but she wasn't. :\
Edit--or maybe I was wrong and misread the HUD? I haven't really played new Freddy.
Try to record it next time. It could be they were awake or it could be a bug.
To my knowledge, being awake is the only legit way to not get hit by Freddy's traps
-
No perks but keep in mind they have to be asleep for it to affect them. So if they were awake, they wouldn't be affected by the trap.
-
I usually go for the save but only because at that point, this match is all over but the screaming. So I'm gonna try to max out my points as much as I can and just accept my L
I do not fault anyone who chooses differently cause again, we all know this game is over.

*P.S : I still run this perk cause I aint letting any killer tunnel me for free".
Funny enough, you could still get in the locker and it acted like normal (you'd get in vertically and then just disappear once you were in).
